Like I said it happens every few minutes... It is annoying when you are on the internet for more than a few minutes because you constantly have to either minimize it or reduce the screen manually by hitting the button and then maximize it again to get the scroll bar to be in view to use it.
Delete the localstore.rdf file at the following location:

I did this and it fixed it for several days, but it broke again eventually. -
Can't see list of minimized windows when I minimize windows into application
I love the Mac option to minimize windows into application icon, but recently it's behaving abnormally for me. When I minimize, for example, three Word documents into the application icon, I don't see the list of those documents when I click on the icon (they usually stack vertically in the menu, above "Options"). To see those documents, I have to click the application icon and select "show all windows".
I can't figure out what's going on, and it's driving me nuts.
What I'm seeing (I have three documents minimized into the Word application here):
What I should be seeing (This is just a screen grab from a tutorial, not my machine):
Here are my current dock preferences/settings:
I've already rebooted. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist. Move the .plist to the trash..
In Applications/Utilities/Terminal type
killall Dock
Restart and test. You may have to update your dock to the way you want it.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible. -
Suddenly, no "minimize" (yellow) button...
I've restarted, reset and explored other Safari abnormalities. I'm stumped.
My Tiger partition is giving me fits and I thought I was a smart user.
The button to "minimize" has gone "clear" (maybe a diagnostic tool?) and other strange behavior (crashes, lock ups and text based crash report later) have occurred in the last few days.
Using Safari 2.0.3 (417.9.2) on Tiger 10.4.4.
I get text based error reports during the "Send to Apple" window.
I've removed most third party software and "reset" Safari.
No custom icons.
No "minimize" button available.
Any ideas or help? Thanks!Have you tried downloading and reinstalling the appropriate Safari version?

Hi,
I noticed that if you minimize your dos window, your memory usage ( as shown in Windows task manager ) drops a lot. E.g. I have Tomcat running ( 15 MB usage ). When I minimize the Tomcat DOS window, the memory usage shows something like 160kB. Any ideas. What is the real usage ?
Regards,
Dieter JanssenWhen you minimize the window Java will run a garbage collection. But also be aware of that the memory usage in Windows task manager is shown in both the Mem Usage column and the VM Size column (you maybe need to add this to your Task manager).
I hope this will help you!

Scan and Capture minimizes to taskbar immediately and does not allow scan selection
Scan and Capture was working great prior to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and (I think) and upgrade to V1.4. I vaguely recall using some app from HP to uninstall the previous version...
Current symptoms are that the app will fire up, briefly show the splash screen, and then immediately minimize to the task bar. Clicking on the app in the task bar will bring the splash screen back up briefly, followed by minimization again to the task bar. The app can be closed by right clicking the app on the task bar.
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled to no avail. My guess is that there is some registry junk left behind during the uninstall that needs to be scrubbed. Probably a function of the uninstall of the previous version?
App works just fine on another Win8.1 PC with the same printer, so I doubt it is a hardware or network issue, however, for completeness, the scanner is an HP CM1312nfi MFP and the PC is an HP Pavillion, [email protected], 8GB RAM, running 64 bit Win8.1 Pro with Media Center.
Thanks for any pointers. To follow on...
I reinstalled the Complete Package. Subsequent to this install, the legacy HP Laserjet Scan (with UI from 2009) and the legacy Windows Scan and Fax applications connect and scan from this MFP just fine.
The Metro apps (Windows Scan and HP Scan and Capture) do not. The Window Scan (Metro) gives a "Problem Connecting to Scanner" error.
The HP Scan and Capture has the same behavior as before -- splash screen for a second and then minimized to the task bar. I have also tried to launch HP Scan and Capture from the HP AiO Metro app with the same results.
To sum up, the WinXP applications work. The Win8 applications do not.
Junk in registry? Or driver issue? -
Continuous play and window minimize
I have not used my itunes for a while on my home computer. I play it at work almost every day. I came home tonight and turned it on and it plays one song and stops. I have to go and click on the next song. At work, it just plays various songs. I think I have it set to random at work. Tonight, I want it to play through the libray, in order by the album. But it just plays one song and waits for me to click on the next. Obvious someone (my son I would guess) has clicked on something to turn off continuous play. Under control, I see a choice for play, which I've chosen and it plays one song. I also clicked on the play arrow in the gray bar at the top, and it plays one song. Shuffle and repeat are options at the bottome of the control pull down menu.
How do I get to just play until I tell it to stop?
Also, when I click on the green button at the top left of the itunes window, to minimize the window down into the small gray box for the tiniest control, it doesn't shrink, it just jumps to the right about an inch. Each time I click the green button, it jumps left or right an inch or so, but does not shrink/minimize at all. How do I get that to work again? oh, I'm running itunes 9.0
I HATE it when kids, (even young adult kids) mess with my stuff and then are not home to help fix it!!!
LOL
MichellelLook at the songs in your music library. If the small box left of the song's name does not have a checkmark, it will only play when you click on it. Normally, all your songs will have a check, except those you want to exclude, like Christmas songs when it's not the season.
You can checkmark all songs at once by holding the command key and clicking the box for one song.
If your iTunes is version 9.0, you can get the mini player by holding the option key while clicking the green button. If you upgrade to iTunes 9.0.1, the green button behavior is "fixed" to work as it always has. To upgrade, select "Software Update" under your Mac's menu. -
I haven't been able to minimize any windows for several weeks. But I found the solution!
Since I use many programs simultaneously, this has cramped my style. The yellow minimize button hasn't worked, nor has Command-M or double-clicking the title bar (which is enabled), not even choosing Minimize in the Window menu! I've tried everything -- removing startup apps and plug-ins that seemed to have been orphaned, archiving and trashing tens of thousands of files, but nothing helped. Finally I remembered that I had enabled "Minimize windows into application icon" in the Dock System Preference pane a month ago. I unclicked that option and voilà ! All of my windows were able to minimize again!
I haven't used that "Minimize windows into application icon" option for many years, but I have no idea why enabling it prevented my Finder and application windows from minimizing. Every time I clicked the yellow button, the button darkened and a spinning beach ball appeared for two or three seconds, then the yellow became bright again and the window remained on the desktop.
I'm just putting this message here in case anyone else encounters the same problem.Contact iTunes Customer Service and request assistance

Whenever you have multiple windows open - say one is your Gmail account and the other is a bunch of pages you're using at work - and then you go to minimize the window with Gmail but intend to continue working on the other open windows. Using Command-M (the minimize shortcut for Macs) unfortunately now sends all open windows to the minimize bar in the lower right. Which means - every time I go to look at Gmail, then put it away, I have to reclick to open all of the other windows I was working in. Can this be fixed? It never used to happen.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I upgraded to the latest version of FirefoxBecause OS X 10.4* does not have what is needed by Firefox 4.0 and newer.
Linux users are in a similar boat also as they need certain package versions within the last few years as LTS distros (with outdated packages from 4+ years ago) like CentOS is a bit screwed on newer applications like Firefox 4.0. By your logic Mozilla should also support Linux packages from 10 years ago also which would be a really ridiculous thing to do.
I think only the 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7 is really supported or will be rather when it comes to 64-bit builds (still not officially supported yet).
Mozilla is still supporting Firefox 3.6 with updates, in which 3.6.16 can be found at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html -
I shut down my macbook and now while applications such as safari have been open for awhile, even while active, will automatically minimize and it take me back to the desktop. How do I fix this?
I should add that this has happened before and I feel like it was a quick un-toggling of a box in my settings, but I can not remember what to do.

This only started happening about 2 days ago. I will have tabs open, go to bookmarks and click on one. It seems that it is not opening but I then discovered that there is a tab at my desktop bottom tray that opened instead that I can click on to open the tab. However, it will not open unless I first minimize my bottom tray whole Firebox browser.
That is the default action when you open a new tab. There are extensions that you can install to change it from a blank page to whatever you want.

Strange problem with RDP and mouse, only solved after minimize/maximize
Good day,
We have this very annoying problem with a RDP Terminal Server. It is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
This server has the Session Host role installed, with local RDP user licenses.
We only have this issue when running a certain application.
This application is called Rockwell FactoryTalk View and this in an application to display industrial processes.
It will take the Full Screen in a fixed resolution and will display buttons, objects, values... The application also uses Internet Explorer cache so I think it uses ActiveX, Flash or Java, I don't know.
What sometimes happens is this:
- The mouse point is able to move in the entire screen (good)
- The mouse button will only work in 1 certain area of the screen (which is a small rectangle)
- The mouse "hovering" above objects will also only highlight items that are in this rectangle
- The keyboard remains functional and with alt-tab other objects or other applications can get focus, but still no mouse clicking
The problem can be solved by:
- Minimizing the RDP window and maximizing it again
- Or: Sending a message to the session using task manager, after clicking "OK" on that message the problem is gone
Normally, about 5 users will have this application opened in their session, the "crash" is only effecting 1 session.
The problem seems to happen randomly and we don't know if we should point to the FactoryTalk application, or to Terminal Services/RDP. The end users have no rights to minimize/maximize, this is not the solution.
Is it possible to have any input on this please?
Thank you.Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Firstly please check with the application support team whether the application is fully supported by Windows Server 2008 R2 in remote session. In addition, suggest you to update the client RDP version to RDP 8.1 and check the result for better feature and functionality.
Apart from this, there is Hotfix for the issue. Please download, install and check the result.
Cause:
The issue occurs because the remote desktop ActiveX object does not deactivate the focus of the remote desktop session when the focus is lost. Because the focus is still activated, the remote desktop ActiveX object cannot set the focus of the remote desktop
session again when you change the focus back to the session.
A remote desktop session does not respond to keyboard input or mouse input after it loses the focus in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Hope it helps!
Thanks.

After I close the window/s the report error window pops up . Then the next one which tells me the report was sent. Then the options to go further and so I came here today and Now I have done what you said to do so far. I even updated Acrobat reader and Flash player. I have used Mozilla Firefox for years and never had any trouble like this. This is the way windows behaves on a regular basis and is why I changed to Linux for years. I got this computer a couple years ago and did not have any trouble. Recently I have this to deal with several times every day. I cannot close the window in upper right corner without bringing up more error windows. So I minimize and close at the bottom. It still takes way too long, but it finally closes. I hope this helps you , I don't know what else I could tell you, Thank s for your time.

First of all, I'm surely not a computer expert by any means, but one morning when I turned on my computer (iBook) trouble erupted as follows:
Once I logged on, the desktop picture was changing pictures every 2 seconds. I changed it to not switch pictures anymore.
I have my dock on hide at the bottom of the screen and when I went to retrieve it with my mouse, it would not pop up. I figured a restart was in order, but when I clicked on the apple and hit "restart", nothing happened. I clicked on "shut down", but again nothing happened. I also noticed that none of my windows would "minimize" when I hit the minimize button at the top left of the windows. I double-clicked the top of the window and the minimize tab would flash, but the window did not change.
I then noticed that none of my hot corners worked, so I opened up system preferences/dashboard & expose and noticed all my hot corner settings were blank. When I tried to reset them, it would show for a second and then disappeared, but would not take the setting.
One or two things on the fritz would be allright, but all these things tell me something must be seriously wrong?
I've read and read, but still haven't seen anything like this. Do I have to do a backup and re-install of Tiger or does anyone have any ideas that I could try before I go through all that? Any help would be appreciated!First of all, you should be able to force it to shut down by holding the power button until the screen goes black and it is not in sleep (takes ~5 seconds).
When you boot up again, try checking your library (YOUR USER NAME>Library>Preferences>com.apple.systempreferences.plist
It's hard to interpret, but it might have gotten deleted.
Also check the finder preferences (Library>Preferences>com.apple.finder.plist.
If the library doesn't have much in it, it's possible it was deleted.
Unless you had a backup, you can't recover it.
If the library is still full, and your preferences for other applications are still the same, it's possible that you need to take your mac in for a checkup.
This probably won't help with your specific issue, but it is a good app to have to manage Finder/System. It is called OnyX, and you can get it here.
If you have an AppleCare warranty, try calling them at 1-800-275-2273
(Canadians, call 1-800-263-3394, other countries, look here)
Hope I helped!
