Minimized iTunes problems in Vista

My iTunes works fine when it's not minimized. Once I minimize it to that iTunes toolbar thing, I can't reopen it by clicking on the maximize square. The music keeps playing but the minimized iTunes won't reopen. Also even though the music is playing, the iTunes toolbar says that the music is paused and that the volume is all the way down (which isn't true because the songs continue to play perfectly). Any ideas on how to fix this so I can reopen iTunes from the minimized position?? Do I just have to uninstall and reinstall iTunes or am I likely to run into similar problems?

Proxie_dk,
Also,
You might want to make sure that you have done the following to try and help resolve or workaround the problem more:
Make sure you have set the correct timinns and voltages for Mushkin memory in BIOS, more information at Mushkin website under support.
Make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS for your motherboard, as several manufacturers did release updates for the problems with NVIDIA and Creative compatability. Look at support section on the XFX support site.
Make sure you are using the latest motherboard chipset drivers available from NVIDIA. 5.25 is the latest, and the international package is here.
Make sure you are using the latest graphics drivers available from NVIDIA. 86.8 is the latest, and the international package is here.
Also, perhaps not as important as the above, make sure you have the latest Windows Updates installed using Microsoft Update.

  • Itunes problems with Vista

Has anyone run into a problem with Itunes not being able to play audio tracks from cd, and not able to import from a cd? (Using Vista Ultimate)I can play existing audio files, but not from a disc and it won't import.
I have tried uninstalling vers. 7.1 and re-installing. I have tried updating my firmware for my two drives and I have also enabled administrative permissions for Itunes under the, annoying UAC built into Vista. Nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Which versions of each? iTunes was updated to 7.5. iTunes may not support x64.
Did you tell or let iTunes during the install to "use iTunes for playing all supported media?"

  • Itunes problem with windows Vista

ok i bought my touchsmart tx2 1025 with windows vista ultimate 64 bit and well i ve noticed that ..well since this is my third time i exchange this computer and i noticed there was a problem with the speakers when i was playing music that anytime during a song i would get this distorted sound like when u put a lot of volume in ipod headphones that it sounds like a crack. Well that happened in my computer even with low volumes.
However I played two times the same song on itunes and two times on windows media player.
Every single time on itunes the sound came as if the speakers were about to blow... like a crack..
Every single time on Windows media player it never sounded like that.
So i am pretty sure its an itunes problem. Does anyone know how to fix this.. i would rather use itunes than windows media player but i really hate the sound it makes sometimes because it shows about 2 to 3 times during one song.

It's possible that the song your playing does indeed have a little audio distortion in it, some media players are capable of filtering it out in a silent way, others play a beep, hence with one song I have, if i play it in windows media player it goes on and then for a split second theres a beep, iTunes doesent seem to do it, so instead of filtering out the missing data, it plays it.
This is more likley a problem with the song than iTunes

  • Itunes problem on windows 8.1?

I recently downloaded Itunes because i like look and how I can easily arrange my music in it. Problem is when I go to ---> get info ---> and i want to rename album or add photo it doesn't update when i press ok

See HT203206: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • 2 problems on Vista

I've just purchased a PC running Vista (hmmm) and have multiple iTunes problems. Funny that these problems don't occur on Mac and a lap top running Win xp - hey ho...
    Here we go:
    1. When I load a CD to rip in itTunes, the device doesn't appear automatically in iTunes. So, I have to restart iTunes to get the device to appear. After that I can rip fine.
I've already gone to edit > preference > when you insert a CD "ask to import CD" but it makes no difference.
It isn't a massive problem but a PITA as I have hundreds of CDs to rip.
    2. I have an iPhone and I've used "remote" to pair with my PC. The two pair fine initially but then I encounter two problems:
When trying to play a track via "remote", I get the following error on my iPhone "An unknown error occurred. Please check your library and try again". A few websites suggested going to edit > preferences > share my library on my local network > share entire library. Tried that but to no avail.
(ii) Occasionally, the iPhone decides it can't find my library anymore. Only way to rectify that is to restart iTunes and then it finds it ok. but I still get the error appearing above in .
    Any thoughts?

I finally worked it out for anyone interested.
If you switch off windows firewall it works fine. I did have iTunes set as an exception in the firewall settings but it didn't seem to make any difference.
How bizarre that windows firewall stops the device from appearing automatically in iTunes but I guess it's bacause it receives track and artwork info from the web.

  • Is there a fix for the incompatibility between itunes and Windows Vista?

I'm having a problem with itunes and Windows Vista. When I download itunes it disables my dvd drive. I have found a fix for that by deleting some registry items, but when I do that itunes is disabled. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

  • ITunes Knocks Out Vista Audio?

My mom just received a new iPod Shuffle, as well as a new computer with Windows Vista Home. Ever since iTunes was installed, the audio on the computer will go out completely after about an hour or so and doesn't come back until we reboot. We've updated audio drivers, contacted Dell customer support and no one knows what the problem is. Could this be caused by iTunes and Vista not being compatible? If so, is there any solution yet?
    Thanks for any help.

I have a similar issue with iTunes on my PC. A song will be playing just fine then all of a sudden the audio is severely degraded (lots of static and very choppy). This continues for a bit (~30sec) then the audio cuts out completely. In fact, I get no audio from any application after this happens. I must log out and log back in.

  • ITunes and Windows Vista

I've just purchased a new computer. It came with Vista Home Premiun OS. When I download iTunes on it -- it works fine until the computer is shut down. When the computer is then started again the DVD/CD driver software cannot be found. The drive won't recognize anything. If I uninstall iTunes it works fine, I reload iTunes and it works fine until I shut down again -- then it doesn't find it again.
I am pretty sure I have the most updated version of Vista (although I will check asap) and know that I have most updated iTunes (just downloaded) -- anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it....other going back to XP or uninstalling iTunes?

It would be best first to check for a device filter conflict:
iTunes for Windows Vista: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters
... however, if you're still getting no CD/DVD drive with just the iTunes filters in place, you may be one of the unlucky ones who are getting the issue discussed here:
Optical drives not recognized in Windows Vista after installing iTunes 7
Although it wouldn't necessarily be a short-term solution, keep an eye on that document for updated information about the issue.
In the short term, one workaround might be to use a different application to rip the CDs, and then use the "Add to library" function to get the ripped files into your iTunes. The following document might be of some help with that:
iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and Convert functions

  • ITunes on Windows Vista and audio CDs

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes for Windows Vista. I actually tried this before the new version came out and my audio CDs wouldn't play correctly. I tried everything in the article "Audio does not play or plays incorrectly" and it didn't work. I thought it might be the system, so I waited until the new version came out. When it did, I downloaded it, but my CDs still don't play correctly. I tried everything in the article again and it still didn't work. Now I'm at a dead end. Help!

I have the exact same problem...!!! I posted a couple of weeks ago and still no help. Not only do I not get any audio from my CD's, I cannot RIP music from them either. All audio and drive functionality work with all other players. Drive diagnostics report no problems. I am seriously considering switching to another MP3 player. (All this after purchasing multiple IPOD's) I run Vista Home Premium on a new DELL. I have no other issues as of yet.

When downloading 10.5.2 version of itunes to Microsoft Vista 32 bit it gets to 68% downloaded and hangs then eventuall times out.  No error msg given.  What is it waiting for?

Finally got it working, I had to delete two solitary files in an iTunes folder.
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
Delete the only two files that are in this folder. Please note that it is a hidden folder.
After they have been deleted, iTunes should work (it did for me)
This may not work if your iTunes.exe process (viewable with task manager) turns off after the license agreement. I solved that problem by updating quicktime.
iTunes 10.5.2 doesn't update quicktime like all the previous installers did.

  • Cabinet file error while trying to instal itunes 9 on vista

So I have been trying multiple times and doing a variety of things to try and install itunes 9 on vista. While it is copying new files I always get the same error at the same place. The error reads, "The cabinet file 'AppleMobileDeviceSupport.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-Rom, or problem with this package." I tried downloading the installer from firefox, IE, and Google chrome all with no avail. I also removed every Apple related product from my computer in hopes of a clean install. If there are any tips on what to do, it would be greatly appreciated. I also get the same errors when I try to install Quicktime except it has a different cabinet file that doesn't work. It's really aggravating.
    Thanks

i have a HP G60 notebook PC with a 32-bit operating system and have had lots of problems trying 2 download itunes 8. It downloads and then instead ov openin the program up an error message appears tht says tht the package cudnt b opend because you need 2 verify tht the package exsists. any1 got ne ideas!!!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
