Minimnum requirement system to read pdf files with 3d model attachement in acrobat 7 or 8

I would like to know what is the minimum system requirement(mac and pc) to read a file by a user of pdf acrobat reader 7 or 8.
Does it necessary to have a graphic card, minimum processor needed and screen resolution. If the computer accept the installation of release acrobat 7 or 8 , dose it mean it can read the 3d file attachment.
I heard that it is possible to install acrobat 7 or 8 only on xp or vista, is it the same for apple computers.
thanks

The product is no longer called Acrobat Reader. It is now called Adobe
Reader.

You mean Reader? Acrobat Professional? Acrobat 3D?
>only on xp or vista, is it the same for apple computers?
No, you cannot install Vista or XP on Apple computers.
I think you may want to look at

  • Problems reading PDF files with i Pad and Mac with 10.8.3 Mountain Lion OS

I assume InDesign uses the Acrobat XI resources to generate the exported PDFs.
I have many 1-7 page articles from which I created PDFs via the export function in ID. They all read OK on PC/Apple/Linux based computers.
I assembled all of the articles into one 50 page document in ID and again exported the large file as a PDF.
Several of the articles inside the large document now exhibit problems when viewed on an i Pad or a Mac running OS 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion). PC and Linux do not have this problem.
The problems are, to quote my subscriber: "each paragraph starts with a 'dollar' sign instead of 'Th'. Later the 'Dollar' symbol changes to ' " '. The same thing happens in the Piston Ring article. This doesn't happen on the original PDF files.
Opening the files in Acrobat Pro XI to look for differences does not discover anything although I assume the problem is somewhere in the font files.
    Any suggestions?

I've asked the question about the versions and producers of the PDF reader software he is using. I'll be back when that answer comes in.
I was afraid that Adobe might not use code identical to Acrobat Pro XI to generate PDFs in InDesign. I may have to 'print' to Acrobat and see if that generates a trouble-free PDF.

  • PDF file with a .WMV attachment in SharePoint 2007

I have a PDF file that points to a link that would open a .wmv file and then play the video.  I have successfully been able to link the video, save the document, and open it on my local desktop.  WMV works.  when I load the document to our
Sharepoint library, the PDF will open, but the link to the WMV opens to a webpage that cannot be found.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Based on my tested, open a protected file via web app in SharePoint is not a supported feature. Please see the article:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/w/officeapps/office-online-file-support.aspx
Because when you encrypt a file using password protection, the file properties, or metadata, are also encrypted. When the file properties are encrypted,
SharePoint cannot read the existing properties, and therefore cannot write new property values to the document in SharePoint.

  • Cannot read PDF files with safari

    Hello,
I cannot read my online magasine with my iPad.
When I open it as PDF with safari, I can read the first few pages but then it freezes and safari just shuts down. It's very frustrating!
There was a similar post to this in the Mac section where they suggest deleting all cookies, history and cache. I tried that but it does not solve the problem.
    Any help welcome!

It seems that the problem is due to safari crashing with memory overload.
I am very disappointed with the iPad. It would seem it is nothing but an overpriced toy. It's supposed to be the most amazing thing ever for accessing the Internet and yet I can't even read an online magazine. Should have thought twice before buying it.

  • How to save PDF file with predefined name?

    Hi,
I am new in LiveCycle Designer. I have a requirement to save a PDF file with predefined file name. When user clicks a "Save as PDF" button, the fillable form is saved with the name from the form fields (e.g. FormID_UserID_Timesstamp...)
I added a button (btnSavePDF) to the form (Control Type=Regular). Then I added an action with the Condition:"When button is clicked" and the Result: "Save the form". I got the JavaScripts it genreated:
      CoverPageForm.FormPage.btnSavePDF::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
When I tested it in Adobe Acorbat XI, I have option to save it as .pdf or other file formats. My questions is how can I save it with the predefined file name as a .pdf file, instead user has option to change the file name or change the file format? Can app.execMemuItem() method take other parameters?
    Thanks
    Sam

You can't do it with app.execMenuItem. You can use the doc.saveAs method, but it has to be executed in a privileged context. For your application this means a folder-level JavaScript file that would have to be installed on each user's machine or with code in a certified PDF that the users chooses to trust to allow for privileged JavaScript execution.
More information on the saveAs JavaScript method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html
and some sample code relevant to the folder-level JavaScript option: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.168.html
All of the sample code shown is for a regular PDF, so you'll have to adjust slightly for using with an XFA.

  • Install Adobe Reader but cannot read PDF file

    Hi all,
I am new and not familiar yet with forum so excuse me for a duplicate posting at
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b65e89/6
which is a thread "cannot install Adobe Reader". Since mine is a different problem, am transferring what I posted there into a new thread, which is as follows:
    ===============================
I cannot read PDF files with web browser so uninstalled and reinstalled with Adobe Reader 9
I still cannot read PDF file with web browser. After clicking on a link that is a link to a PDF file, I just get a blank page
Why and what can I do?

AOL used to have a lot of problems with PDFs, hope that has not returned. Anyway, the PDF was probably sent as a text file rather than encoded as a binary file. That would make it corrupt and is a problem on the senders end. Older versions of Outlook also had problems with PDFs that would cause a problem on your end.

  • I am unable to read pdf files using Acrobat Reader on my MAC OS X. Any suggestions?

How do I read pdf files using my MAC OS X?

You can read pdf files with preview. Select a pdf document, right click on it, and choose Preview. You can also get info and select to choose Preview for all.
You can also install Adobe Reader 10.1.3 for Lion. It will also install a plug-in to read pdf docs in the browser.

  • Problem opening pdf files with Adobe Reader in Windows 7

I bought a new Dell (Inspiron 5110) with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium (Version 6.1 SP1, 64 bit) and pre-installed Adobe Reader X (10.1.1). I cannot open ANY of my old pdf files with the Adobe reader (even after I re-installed the Adobe Reader). On another computer with Windows 7 I get the same error message. When I installed several other pdf-readers (Sumatra, Foxit, ..) I can still not open the pdf's -- but all the pdf's still open under Windows XP on my old computer and they also open on all my colleagues' non-Windows 7 computers. So it appears to be a Windows 7 problem. The Adobe error message says 'Adobe Reader could not open _.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (…..).
N.B.: I can download pdf files from the internet and can then open these 'new' pdf files with Adobe Reader X.
N.B.2.: Most of the 'old' pdf files are scientific articles downloaded from various journal websites 2002-2011, so their quality should be out of question.
N.B.3.:I've transfered the files via memory stick and portable HD.
N.B.4.: If I try to open the pdf's via 'Open with' the problem remains the same.
N.B.5.: When, on my Win7 Dell, I've uploaded/attached one of these old pdf files to an email the rtecipient could not tead it. But he could read it when I'd sent the same file from my old Win XP computer.
N.B.6.: I have repeated this last observation: When I upload an old pdf file on my Win7 Dell to my email account and then send it to myself, I cannot open/read it on my Win XP (nor on the Dell, of course). Although the file size is precisely the same.
N.B.7.: When I download a new pdf on my Dell, then upload/attach it to an email also on the Dell and send it to myself, I can download and read the attached pdf on both computers.
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

    This is really strange.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I can understand, any PDF which is launched on your Win 7 OS fails to open, even though the same file works perfectly fine on your Win XP machine?
Could you please run a full system anti virus scan on the said PDFs that are present on your local system. It could be a case of infected PDFs.
Also, it would be great if you could try and download some of the erroneous PDFs from the web again, and see if you experience the same behavior.
    Thanks
    Ankit

  • How do I get IE to read pdf's with a Windows 7 OS and acrobat 7 on my system?

How do I get IE to read pdf's with a Windows 7 OS and acrobat 7 on my system? It works with firefox. It worked previously but I think the automatic upgrade to reader 9.4 messed it up - so how do I fix it?

    Hi,
It looks like the default association of your PDFs was set to Adobe Acrobat, when you installed Adobe Reader 9.4.0. I would request you to either uninstall Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and install it again. This time around, you will receive a window asking you to chose between Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Reader 9.4.0 as the default PDF viewing application, make sure you select Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and continue on. This will associate Adobe Reader 9.4.0 as the default PDF viewing application and your internet explorer will be able to open PDFs without an issue.
If an uninstall seems out of the question, you can change the following registries to point to the path of AcroRd32.exe (i.e. the path wherein you have installed Adobe Reader 9.4.0. By default it would be something like: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe). The quotes mentioned below are intentional and must be included.
    i.   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
    ii.  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\shell\Open\command\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""%1"
    iii. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document.7\shell\Read\command\(Default) - Change the value to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""%1"
This should set the default application to view PDFs as Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and let you view PDFs in browser as well.
    Hope this works.
