Minimum activation time for new phone

I recently got an iPhone 4S.  One of the camera apps I use frequently is busted on the 4S but works fine on the iPhone 4, which is what I had previously.
I'd like to re-activate my iPhone 4 until the developers get around to fixing the camera app (it's Hipstamatic for anyone who's curious).
My question:  when you get a new phone, does it have to be active for a minimum amount of time?  I know the phone has to be activated within 5 days of purchase, but once it's activated does it need to stay active for a certain number of days or weeks?

If you purchased the phone directly through Verizon, you can deactivate it immediately if you like.  I don't think the iPhone is being sold through third-party retailers yet (if it ever will be), so you should be fine.
For future reference, if you do buy through a third-party (like Amazon, or Wirefly), they can ask you to sign a second contract directly with them.  That contract may require the phone to stay active for at least 180 days with the same plan, or you will owe that retailer an Early Termination Fee.

  • Extend activation time for replacement phone

    I am away from home and my replacement phone just arrived today. Is there any way to extend the activation period? According to the box, the activation period is only 5 days, but I will not be home until the weekend. Please help~

    @joeyc1223,
    As long as you return the phone within 5 days of activating the replacement device you have nothing to worry about. We ask that you activate the replacement phone as soon as you're back home and returning the defective phone. If it will be more than a week before you get a chance to activate the phone, I suggest you contact us so we may remark your account.
    Hope this information is helpful.

  • How to Set A Default Start Time For New Events In Calendar?

    How to Set A Default Start Time For New Events In Calendar?

    John,
    Thanks for that suggestion - could not get it to work. However, I did manage a different approach. I finally determined the sequence of events in terms of how the various events and listeners fire (I think).
    Basically, the CalendarActivityListener fires, followed by the listener associated with the Calendar object's Create facet, followed finally by the CalendarEventListener - the final is where the TriggerEvent is available and then finally, control is passed to the popup/dialog in the Create facet. So, my approach of trying to set/get the TriggerDate in the user's HTTP session was doomed to failure because it was being get before it had been set :(
    Anyway, I ended up adding a bit of code to the CalendarEvent listener - it grabs the current BindingContext, navigates through the DCBindingContainer to derive an Iterator for the ViewObject which drives the calendar and then grabs the currently active row. I then do a few tests to make sure we're working with a "new" row because I don't want to alter start & end dates associated with an existing calendar entry and then I define the Start and End dates to be the Trigger Date.
    Works just fine. Snippet from the listener follows
    BindingContext bindingContext = BindingContext.getCurrent();+
    *if ( bindingContext != null )    {*+
    DCBindingContainer dcBindings = (DCBindingContainer) bindingContext.getCurrentBindingsEntry();+
    DCIteratorBinding iterator = dcBindings.findIteratorBinding("EventsView1Iterator");+
    Row currentRow = iterator.getCurrentRow();+
    if ( currentRow.getAttribute("StartDate") == null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("StartDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    if (currentRow.getAttribute("EndDate")==null)+
    currentRow.setAttribute("EndDate", calendarEvent.getTriggerDate());+
    *}*

  • One-time activation fees for new customers and 'My Support Cases' hyperlink

    Team,
    I'm a new customer to verizon and I have requested only for internet without any invisible charges. And the cutomer care provided a non-contractual internet plan only for 39.99 in addtion to the device charges and one-time activation fees can be waived since verizon kid is already placed in my apartment since verizon identiified our address as "Priority Service" address.
    However first month bill come with $23.33 charge for one-time activation lue for next 2 monts. I really appreciate if the activation fees to be waived since I opted verizon instruments and installation is already done since it all readily available.
    I tried to search for "My Support Cases" Link, i really frustrated and till now I'm not able to find this, not sure whether its hidden somewhere only for verizon customer care

    You do not have any support cases, so you cannot see that board.  Just a friendly reminder, this is a forum where users help other users. It looks like your issue may require a Verizon representative to review your account details. Please visit our Support page for a variety of ways to contact Verizon, including “Ask Verizon,” our virtual chat agent, and customer support phone numbers.

  • How long does it take for new phones to be add to iSync?

    Had my new Nokia 6233 for 2months and can`t sync it. All my numbers are in my address book. Don`t want to transfer numbers from my old phone one at a time.
    Doug

    2 months? You're not doing too bad then...
    I bought a Sony Ericsson K800i in July 2006, the day the phone came out in the UK, and iSync support was finally added on Tuesday! Eight months after the phone came out.
    However, all is not lost. Novamedia do an iSync Phone Plugin for your phone, so you can use it with iSync straightaway...

    Or, a free version from here:

  • MacBook Pro 3.1 batter at 27% health at full charge. Time for new 1?

    My macbook pro 3.1 (since 2007) original battery says "service" and has a health of 24% (istat pro) at a full charge with 204 cycles.
    Have PRAMed, SMCed, disk first aided and hardware checked. All is well with the machine except the battery which suddenly die without warning.
    Is it time for a new battery? Any comments?

    Usually when it gives the service message the battery has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced.
    If you are in fact running a PPC G4 that is a battery you can replace yourself.  If you have a newer MB with a battery you can't just poop out you should take it in to the Apple store and have it replaced. You can get a replacement for the pop in type at Apple, Best buy, Amazon, or search online. I purchased one years ago AGPTEK for a 2006 MBP that my kid uses and it is still working fine.

  • Is it time for new iso image?

    As I remember ArchLinux goal was to make one iso for one kernel.
    So what happened?
    There is no new iso announced for quite long time.
    I know there is no big need for new iso's but if ArchLinux wants to be popular it has to hit news sometimes?

    silver wrote:the new  iso image will come out soon
    that seeming a real official like statement with a very concrete timeframe i just went ahead and did and ftp-install. Unlike other people stated I did not encouter any trouble whatsoever, I just hope that doing an ftp -install does not cause any fragmentation on my fileystemen, i.e. I have no clue where it puts and deletes the downloaded stuff from before install, i can imagine that this is less of a problem from the .iso.

  • 100% highest active time for HDD

    I have the 100% highest active time issue....
    This seems to be a well known problem, however no solution is found for it yet. I have done pretty much everything imaginable from scans to system tuneups and configurations.
    I reinstalled the OS (several times with different versions like pro, ultimate, enterprize ), switched to win 8... got the latest Bios update, got the latest drivers from HP then downloaded them from intel website, I even got the driver for the disk from the manufacturers website, changed the AHCI mode to RAID (- which also enables AHCI btw)... nothing works.
    The completely fresh install of any OS with only the drivers installed runs the HDD on 85-100% in idle.
    I have some experience in this and from what I saw till now, the Highest active time varies normaly between 10-25% (more or less) even if your disk is performing some more demanding stuff.
    Till recently I thaught that my HDD is to blame, but its not...other guys also face the same issue after replacing it.
    (The disk and memories installed also pass all diagnosticks and checks without problem)
    With i5 540m - 2.53 ghz, 8gb memory and the overall performance of the system is unbelivable LOW.
    I have issues browsing the web, not mentioning other stuff.
    Please, whoever reads this post and decides to advise with some solution like disabling search indexing for windows, or sfc scan or drive diagnosticks or pagefile size changes/ disabling, editing the startup services/apps, defrag/cleanup and so on and so on... You can spear that time for you cause the list of the things Ive done to solve this issue is allready too long to fit it in this post.
    Recently I ordered an original instalation kit from HP which should arrive soon but at this point I think that the issue can only be solved by replacing the laptop.
    *I have no idea what the kit contains, but this is the only thing I havent try yet.
    Can this be Kernel related?
    Does anybody have any ideas or permanent fix for this???

  • 8 month wait for new phone line!!!!!

    I posted on here a while ago '5 month wait for phone line' and I cannot actually believe that I am almost at 8 months of waiting for a phone line to be installed!!
    Reason: Openreach are having traffic management issues for a four way traffic light system needed for my phone line, this has been the reason since JULY 2013!!!!
    My local council have told me this is just an excuse as Openreach/BT have not made any requests to them in my area or the entire of Anglesey where I live!!!
    I get updates from a BT team in Sunderland which are very repetitive 'traffic light problems' cannot get permission for them blah blAH BLAH!!! And they accept these excuses from Openreach!!! They can give me no indication as to when I will get a phone line and when I say what happens when we get to year point they say oh no that will never happen!! This BT team now only text me updates saying they could not get through to my mobile, they say they will update me on the 19th December but it will be the same old **bleep**.
    So now I am am drafting a letter which will include all the correspondence between BT and myself including all the false information they have texted me and stupid emails (one said there are major problems in Cornwall so thats is why there is a delay I asked whats Cornwall got to do with anything I live in North Wales, the BT guy then said Cornwall is the term used to refer to a large area??? He later apologised for his error, but what an idiot)
    My letter will also be sent to BT head office, complaints and the my local MP, BBC Watchdog and various other local consumer affairs programmes.
    But any extra advice would be greatly appreciated.....
    HAnnah Hughes

    He was the one who made the Cornwall comments!! All he did was relay extra information in more detail than the BT operators were giving me, but he had no authority to do anything. It has been escalated but this wonderful escalation team are doing nothing at all, other than accepting Openreach excuses.
    Some of my text messages say " we are waiting for council permission", then the next one says "Openreach have had council permission" but the latest ones are back to "Openreach are waiting for council permission"!!!! You would think that someone in BT would pick up on this!!!
    BT will not give me the location of the work needed either they say Opnereach do not have this one thier system, because the council keep telling me that no permission has been requested.
