Minimum hardware for VPDN scenario (LAC&LNS)

Hi,
I've need help with hardware platform selection for vpdn scenario. This deployment will serve up to 20 users max. Can anyone say me which is the minimum router platform and IOS version to use for LAC? And for LNS?
Thank you.
Best regards.

Hi Ciscomax,
Thaks for your reply.
Estimated throughput may be up to 100/10Mb. This is the wan access provided by our ISP.
I think that 28xx/29xx routers are more than I need. These platforms are running as LNS for more than 100 users in another site.
I want to know if anyone is using any 800/1900 series router for LNS. And what about the IOS version, will sec/k9 needed?
Best regards.

  • Minimum hardware for video PLAYBACK? Flash 8?

Does anyone know a resource where I can learn about minimum
system requirements for Flash8 or later playback?
I encoded a video using FlashCS3 video encoder - and on most
computers, it looks just fine/as expected. Just to see what would
happen, I tried to view it from the web, on a Mac G4/867 that we
have sitting around because it has PCIx cards for SCSI in it... It
is running OSX 10.4.11 -- Safari 2.x. It has 1.25 gigs of ram.
Video simply will not play back on this dinosaur (well, it
plays, but 1 out of 10 frames, if I'm lucky - and audio is total
sputter, it is unusable) ... ok, this box is ancient. BUT must I
assume all current web visitors will have rocket-ship speed
    hardware?
Is there a guide that's been assembled with guidance? For
video encoded with VP6, do not exceed Y x Z dimensions at 15 fps in
    Flash player 8, etc... ???? I've searched...
Thanks in advance for any VP6 encoding guidance.
Bonus question: since I own CS3 and QTpro (Final Cut Studio),
is there a true benefit from Flix or Flix Pro (or another stand

PS -- the internet bandwidth on this machine is superior...
10megs downstream... on the same network (wired) as a few other
(faster/newer) machines that have no issue viewing my video. The
    video is ~72mb.

  • Minimum hardware for 'voice' lab ? - Please answer.

    Hi,
    I've got (3) C2610's running IP Plus IOS 12.3. I also have (2) Cat 2912XL.
If I want to play with VoIP configurations, how much am I going to miss if I don't have a Layer 3 switch ? I mean, the Cat 3550 is kind of a little expensive for me and therefore I would like to play with VoIP without a layer 3 switch for now, if possible.
    Please advise.

Thanks. It is a C2610. I put 64D and 16F and I am running in reality the Enterprise Basic image from the XM platform. The problem is that it is 12.3 and I see that XM's 12.4 don't run on C2610's.
    How about the switch ?
Can I practice voice labs (at CVOICE level) and dispense the need for layer 3 switches ?

  • Recommended SCCM 2012 R2 Minimum Hardware Requirements For Small Environment?

We plan to deploy SCCM 2012 R2  CU1 and SQL 2012 SP2 for the following purposes and want to use the minimum hardware to do the job reliably:
Keep reports on hardware and software inventory and monitor performance and events on clients and servers.
Deploy operating systems with MDT integration.
Install and uninstall applications on clients on the local LAN (as replacement for GPO software installation during reboots) as well remote laptops on the Internet (we do not have Direct Access do not have Direct Access and do not want to depend on remote
laptops needing to being logged into VPN to reach them).
Install Windows Updates and third party patches and updates (Adobe/Java updates etc.) on local LAN as well as to remote laptops on the Internet.
We only have about 500 clients.  80 percent are on the local LAN all in one building and the rest are laptops for people working on the road and at home who only sporadically connect to VPN.
Can we do it all on one server or will we need a separate server for LAN clients and a different server in the DMZ to reach remote clients?
Will we need separate disks for OS, SCCM and SQL with such a small environment or can it be all on a single physical disk or VM VHD?
Is 8GB RAM, 1 CPU and 500GB disk space enough for this (assuming 50 GB WSUS database and similar amount is OS deployment space for MDT)?

It will work, no doubt. My point was that if you want fast and responsive system, focus on the disk speed. You're good to go with single server, all in the same box.
I understand that it will "work" because I just installed SCCM 2012R2 and SQL 2012 CU10 in a lab in a VM using a single VHD and it is working fine with zero clients.
Should it still work with reasonable performance on a fast hard drive (10-15K drive or SSD) with 500 clients without having to break it out into separate dedicated disks for OS, page file, SCCM, SQL and logs?

  • Minimum hardware requirement for Report server with 4 engines ??

    Hello all ,
Can someone please tell what is the minimun Hardware requirement to be able to run a Oracle 91 AS with report server having 4 engines ??
and where I can find this kind of documentation.
We have a Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE running on a machine with under 1 ghz power and around 300 mb RAM
, but the report server seems to keep crashing ..
    Can anyone pls advice
    Thanks

    Hi,
For calculating the minimum hardware requirements, you may need to look at various factors:
    1. No of reports requests that need to be processed per second
    2. Whether all these requests are synchronous or asynchronous
    3. Response time required
    4. Type of reports - large amounts of data, large no of images, etc
    5. How much caching you are using
    6. No of queries in your report
    7. Simple / complex layout of the report
    and so on.
So just the information of 4 engines may not be sufficient for trying to calculate the hardware requirements. One useful reference point for you may be the Oracle9i Reports Scalability whitepaper:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/index.html
It lists the number of users supported on some pre-defined hardware configurations, and the average response time for the reports server.
You might also want to take a look at the paper on "Tuning Oracle Reports":
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=SAP&col=ALC&submit=Search
However, it is also possible that your Reports Server is crashing due to some other problem (not the hardware configuration).
By the way, your RAM seems to be too low for Oracle9iAS installation. See the installation guide for minimum hardware requirements.

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements for MDM 5.5 SP2

What is the minimum hardware requirements for MDM 5.5 SP2?  For what I am doing, I expect to have 25-50K records stored in it.

The question is clear but answers may vary from one repository to another. How many fields your main record will  have, how big lookup tables will be, how complex your taxonomy with attributes will be, and so on. But! The good news is you may try it even on your laptop. I got an impression it's for your own playing and experiments but not production yet. If you computer allows to run MSSQL and it has other I'd say 50-100Mb of memory free it may be enough. But again, it really varies.
For production-oriented precise estimations you can read an official sizing doc at SMP - quick link /instguidesnw04
The rule of thumb - the faster/bigger computer the better:-)

  • Minimum Hardware Requirement for Oracle11gAS Client PC

as subject, can anyone give me some feedback? thanks!

Assuming you are referring to Fusion Middleware 11, I will start by saying that this is a product set of many components and install options. To even offer a suggested recommendation for hardware would heavily depend on exactly what you are planning to install and do with this installation.
I would recommend review the product installation guides. That said, when reviewing the minimum requirements for memory (RAM), I would recommend that you consider at least adding 15-20% more than what is document. Remember that these are minimum requirements for installation and basic use and not requirements to actually use these products in production with load.
    Product Documentation
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/index.htm
    System Requirements
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/E18558_01/fusion_requirements.htm
Also note that in most cases, reference to memory (RAM) is for the product and not necessarily the box. Unless otherwise noted in the document, you need to consider everything else you are running on the machine including the OS. So, for example, if the install guide says you need a minimum of 2gig of RAM, this does not take into account what the OS needs. So, in this example, consider the 2gig documented plus 20% (as suggested above) plus about 1.5 gig for the OS and other minimal apps running, you would need approximately 4gig of RAM just to complete an installation and execute basic features. In many cases the documentation now refers to "minimum RAM" and "available RAM". "Available RAM" in the document refers to RAM plus swap (virtual memory). My recommendation is not referring to swap. Although the documentation is correct and does work, you will be much happier with more RAM installed.
Bottom line, in the case of RAM, more is always better. However, remember that on some 32bit OSs there is a limitation as to how much RAM can be accessed. Be sure to refer to the OS documentation for details.
I forgot to mention, your question would probably get better feedback in the "Applcation Server" forum area:

does every machine not have 1ghz+....
go ahead and try running windows 8 with those specs and even better run the steam overlay too and see what happens.
any decent processor is 3.4ghz+ with 8gb of ram not to mention that dx11 came out with windows 7...
there is cell phones with better specs than the min requirements so both your posts are useless.
there is a standard to uphold and that is exactly what i always trying to do my best at.
why sell a copy of windows if its just going to frustrate a customer when its not perfectly compatible with the system?
o... lets just have everyone install windows 8 because its new and this page says it can handle it...
lets make it 64bit too because higher numbers are cooler...  because it wont matter if its suppose to have 32bit...

  • PPPoE multiple profiles for VPDN

I'm trying to set up a single router to terminate PPPoE connections and offer different rates using virtual templates. All the documentation seems to be focused on LAC/LNS installs. In this case we effectively just have a single router performing both functions.
RADIUS will be used for AAA.

    Hi,
It should look something like this:
aaa authentication ppp vpdn group radius
aaa authorization network vpdn group radius
aaa accounting network vpdn start-stop group radius
    bba-group pppoe VPDN1
    virtual-template 10
    sessions auto cleanup
    bba-group pppoe VPDN2
    virtual-template 20
    sessions auto cleanup
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1.10
    encapsulation dot1Q 10
    ip unnumbered Loopback0
    pppoe enable group VPDN1
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1.20
    encapsulation dot1Q 20
    ip unnumbered Loopback0
    pppoe enable group VPDN2
    interface Virtual-Template10

    ip unnumbered Loopback0
    ppp authentication pap vpdn
    ppp authorization vpdn

    description VPDN2
    ip unnumbered Loopback0

And you can do whatever you want under each virtual-template.

  • Minimum Frequency for counter Pulse Frequency Generation

    Hello,
What is the Minimum Frequency that the Counter Output Pulse Frequency VI can generate?
If I need to generate a REALLY low frequency pulse train can I do that?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
If you don't explicitly specify a timebase, DAQmx will choose a default depending on the initial parameters you set up for CO Pulse Frequency.  For example, the following code should work on any DAQ device with a 32-bit counter and a 100 kHz timebase available (from my first post, 11.64 uHz is the minimum frequency in this scenario).
So... your 10-100 second periods should be more than achievable.  The inverse of 12uHz is about 23.15 hours.
If you're on a 24-bit counter the maximum pulse width would only be ~167.77 seconds (2^24/100000), giving a frequency of about 2.98 mHz assuming 50% duty cycle.
The only way you should be getting an error at the 10-100 second durations that you are describing is if you start the task off at a faster rate (so DAQmx will pick a faster timebase by default) then modify it to output a lower frequency.  Rollover times for the maximum default timebases are as follows:
        E Series:   ~0.839 seconds (24-bit counter, 20 MHz timebase)
        M Series:   ~53.69 seconds (32-bit counter, 80 MHz timebase)
        X Series:    ~42.95 seconds (32-bit counter, 100 MHz timebase)
If you want to set a different signal source as a timebase, you can do it with a DAQmx Channel Property Node:
I'm afraid I don't really understand what you are trying to do specifically.  How does this "infinite" pulse length fit within the context of your application?  Why not simply write the line high in software?  What hardware are you using?
    Best Regards,
    John Passiak
