'Minimum Image Area' as PNG Sequence

Hi.
I don't know if this problem has been addressed before - I
did do some Googling but found nothing.
I am using Flash 8, and I want to export all frames of the
movie as a series of numbered PNG files. It is important that I use
PNG files because I need the alpha channel. I also want the files
to use the Minimum Image Area option - not necessarily taking the
minimum area for each
particular frame, but for it to take the largest area and
use that as the size for all images.
However, all this does it just use the full document's
dimensions. I have checked each frame to see if I had something on
the edge of the screen by accident, but this is not the case.
BUT: If i choose Minimum Image Area for just
one frame ("Export Image") as a PNG file, it correctly takes
the smallest image area. Is Flash not capable of taking the minimum
image area for an whole set of frames?
There is one obvious solution I can think of, which is to use
"Edit Multiple Frames" and select every frame of the movie at the
same time, then set the document's dimensions to fit it. I will do
this if there is no other option or no way to fix this, but I just
wanted to know if anybody else knew of this problem and what they
could say about it.
[EDIT]: I asked a friend of mine to try doing the same thing
on Flash CS3, and exactly the same happened. I think I may have
stumbled across an actual bug here. I feel special :D

Yeah, that seems the most apparent solution. I mean, it's not
a big problem, I just find it weird that minimum image area has no
effect whatsoever when exporting the movie as a sequence instead of
an image.

And in which way exactly? How do you judge on quality?
My ... settings are ... 792x582 (same size as source)... My Preview File Format is the default I-frame only MPEG.
Your frame size is not good for previewing in PrPro. MPEG 2 uses macroblocks of 8x8 pixels for compressing data. And now what you get with your frame size: 792 pix / 8 = 99; 582 pix / 8 = 72.75

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Why aren't my FW (PNG) image are not showing up

    Hey guys.
This is really bugging the hell out of me. I feel like I
can't move on until i can figure out why my PNG images are not
showing up in preview (F12). They did yesterday before I deleted
some pages and renamed old pages I no longer needed.
All my images that was done in FW are in my root folder in
the file panel. i didn't move any of those. When I double click on
the image to bring up the "select image source" in the URL it
starts off with two periods then a slash and then the name of where
it's located as well as the name of the image. The "relative to":
is site root. i didn't change any of these setting before I deleted
and renamed pages in my file panel.
Oh, and my Ap Divs show up in light gray boxes.
    Please help!

  • Exporting for web in Illustrator 6, why are my png & gif images turning out blurry?

I have never had this problem before. I am exporting an image for web in Illustrator 6 and my images are all turning out blurry. I have attached a sample image as well as a screenshot of my current settings, although I have messed with the settings quite a bit and I seem to have this problem no matter what I do.

Apart from its inverted colour, the image in the OP does look rather bad when clicked, but the linked version seems quite normal given the size.

If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.

  • After Effects .png sequence mask feather

Forgive me if this question is in the wrong place, I am new to this forum.
I have a .png sequence in AE (animation comprised of png files as frames). I use this format since the built in alpha channel/mask/transparency allows me to create composite images with blurred background/foregrounds (mimicking depth of field).
Basically the edges are too 'crisp' and I would like to feather them. I am used to working with masks but I havn't used the .png format for animation until now.
If I were in Photoshop I would simply select the layers pixels, create mask, feather the edge and voila. But I can't seem to access this png mask in after effects. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. I seem to remember that about png's from a first year class
Well my footage comes from a cg application and there are too many frames to manage in photoshop (unless there is a macro or batch script).
So there is no way to feather the transparency in AE (or premiere pro)?
As a last resort I suppose I can render an alpha channel as a separate sequence an use that.

  • Trying to matte a background image with a PNG with transparency / partial transparency

    Hello everyone.
    Here is the scenario;
I have a PNG sequence rendered from a 3d program. The sequence includes a landscape that is partially transparent and has no background image or color. In the animation, anything that is not the landscape is 100% transparent, while the landscape is partially transparent.
I have a background that I want to put behind the PNG sequence but I don't want the background to be visible through the landscape portion of the sequence, only the portion that is 100% transparent.
I have tried several different methods, but because the landscape is partially transparent, using a track matte (alpha or alpha inverted) or blend mode (like stencil alpha) does not give me the results I am looking for.
What I am looking for is a way to matte (or mask) the background image with only the portion of the PNG that is 100% transparent. That way, the background image will not show through the semi-transparent landscape, but will be visible in the portion that is 100% transparent.
I would like to find a reasonable solution in After Effects as opposed to re-rendering the 3d sequence with the objects being unseen by the camera and the background present. The landscape scene itself took a considerable amount of time to render (120+ hours) and I would like to avoid that kind of delay in my project.
I thank you all in advance for your consideration.

The footage itself is fine, Dave. The 3d application is rendering exactly what it is supposed to render; a semi-transparent landscape on a transparent background, rendered out to 32 bit PNGs.
When I view the frames in Photoshop, they are exactly what I wanted. In the final composition, there are other image elements and pre-rendered objects provided by the client that need to be visible beneath the "ground" and "water", which is why I rendered the landscape as semi-transparent. Normally, I would render with a color background for compositing, but using a color background in this case was tinting the semi-transparent landscape.
I think my track mattes are failing because the images are made up of varying degrees of alpha.
Going back to the 3d application, the only option there would be to re-render a pure alpha pass of the animation. I can test the render time per frame, but I was hoping that there would be an easier solution... the initial landscape animation took 70+ hours to render, using 32 cores and 24 gb of RAM. The pure alpha render shouldn't take anywhere near that long, BUT, if it did, that would not be feasible on my current schedule.
I did find another possible solution by creating a recorded script to batch convert luma images from the PNGs. If the alpha pass proves unworkable, I can always fall back to batching the luma images and using stencil luma.
Thanks for helping me further think this out!

  • Help importing PNG sequence

So I believe I have successfully accomplished importing PNG
sequences before more than once. However, this time around, I'm
losing my mind. I just successfully rendered a PNG sequence out of
Adobe After Effects CS3, roughly 130 images, and I'm attempting to
import all of them as a sequence to FlashCS3. However, when I do
this, every image is duplicated with a graphic, and the graphics
are about 50x larger than the original PNG size. I cannot figure
out what I am doing wrong, I've never come across this problem. If
anyone has any advice, please let me know; it will be greatly
    appreciated.
I also wanted to know how to move the position of images or
movie clips on multiple key frames at one time. If that makes
sense. As this PNG sequence for example.... If I don't like the
position of the sequence, I have to manually click each key frame,
and move the selected position... any help.

your first problem here is likely that the images you've
rendered are not set to 72dpi, standard screen resolution. Flash
will automatically render the image at a size related to 72, eg. if
your images are higher res they will be shown larger to compensate.
the second issue can be resolved by using the 'edit multiple
frames' button and selecting all items in the timeline you wish to
move, including multiple layers and frames. to do so, turn on
'onion skinning' place the playhead in the first frame you wish to
move, extend the handle to the last frame you wish to move - then
turn on the edit multiple frames button (third option in the
timeline toolbar) - then select all of the layers and frames you
wish to move in the timeline - now all the items on the stage
should be shown as selected, you can now click and drag the items
all together or use the arrow keys to nudge the images to a new
    position.

  • Output .png sequence with a symbol?

When you guys are outputting a .png sequence, what is the best way?  I've had no problem when my animation is in the root timeline.  I use the export Movie command and it gives me what I want.  But when I have a movie clip, with animation inside of it, and I output a .png sequence in the same way, it doesn't output the sequence of animation from inside the movie ciip, it just gives me a still frame of the symbol on all 35 frames.  Is there a better way to export it when the animation is inside of a symbol??

I use QuickTime Player (File > Export > Image Sequence). Any (decent) video editing software should be able to do this.
But I just tested this hackish way and worked well. Open the MOV in Photoshop, then File > Export > Render Video > Image Sequence.
Thanks for your question, otherwise I'd have never tryied using Photoshop for this

  • Importing a PNG sequence from AE to PS timeline issue

    Hello Adobe community
I've exported a PNG sequence from After effects so I can stop frame animate over it in Photoshop. When I add the PNG sequence to a Video group in photoshop, it brings each frame in as 120 frames long where I want them to be one frame long each. Is there ether a way of adjusting the duration of multiple clips to make them one frame long ( I know this doesn't work in frame animation mode), or is there anyway of doing this on import? I hope this makes sense and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time

So are you trying to export this aninamtion as a .gif and not a .swf?
Either way I would suggest you re-test a couple of steps in the whole process to see if you can isolate where the problem is.
To start with in PS, are you working on a transparent background? or a white background? must be transparent....
For testing, create a couple of images with a transparent background in PS. Or use just one or two of your layers, save the file, import to Library in Flash, place on your stage, give you Flash doc a non-white color and test. . There should be no border or background around the image...
And if you use wmode of transparent in the html, even the background of the Flash doc will be transparent.
    Best wishes,

  • PNG sequences and .OAMs

I'm working on a digital magazine and my client wanted me to add some complex animations to some of the pages. Since I don't dominate Edge Animate I figured I could make the Animations in After Effects and then import the render into Edge. I read in another forum this was possible using Fireworks and Png Sequences, but it gives no information as to how to import the Sequence into fireworks in the first place which I have been unable to do so far. So my first question is, is there a way to import a render made from AE into Edge? I have no problem rendering the animations again as they are not that long.
Secondly, I'm using edge to make animations that I'm exporting as OAMs to import into the InDesign Folio. So if I can't Import the render into Edge, is the a way I can import it directly into IDD? Keep in mind these animations take over the whole screen anyways so It's not a problem if they aren't interactive, so long as they play as soon as the page opens.
    Thanks a lot!

Well, yes you will have to import your images in fireworks. Just start a new animation in fireworks. Choose png animation. Copy paste your layers or files into a different state for each one and when you are done, use the command export to Edge Animate. It works perfect. It will make a symbol that you will be able to import in Animate. This symbol just adds the display on/off for your png files.
You can also do this manually as explained in another post.
