Minimum IOS version for SPAN on 2950s

I have a new IDS sensor that we finally have up and running. In attempting to montor one of our 2950 switches we noticed that the monitor command is not an option. Is there a minimum version or platform that has this option? I have found nothing so far in the online docs. This switch is currently running 12.0(5.3)WC(1).

HI Friend,
The code you are running has the SPAn capability but not very advance features are available.
The command is "port monitor
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/2950_wc/cli/cli_cmds.htm#xtocid1856851
Also the feature has limitation that if the traffic on monitoring port exceed 50% it will be a problem.
Check the release notes for more details
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/2950_wc/1169303.htm#xtocid13
I will say to have more better code on your switch to use SPAN in better way something likt this
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/12119ea1/2950scg/swspan.htm
Yiu can have much better codes like 12.1(20)EA1 and higher.

  • Is it same IOS version for Switch & Router?

    Hi,
Is it same IOS version for Switch & Router?
    Regards,
    Samuel

    Sam,
The Latest Version depends upon the Switching platform.
    For example:
    On 2900XL Platform - 12.0(5)WC15
    On 2950 - 12.1(22)EA8
    On 3500XL Platform - 12.0(5)WC15
    On 3550 - 12.2(25)SEE2
It would be better if you specify the switch platform that you have questions about, so we could point you in the right direction.
    I hope it helps.

  • IOS version for MPLS command

What is the minimum software version for Cisco 2620XM to execute mpls?
I am running Version 12.2(24)but enable to run mpls command.

    Pls help!!

It looks like MPLS really does disappear in 12.4 code for the 2651XM (see below). It's too bad because I could use the features and would rather not have to replace a bunch of routers.

  • How to select a stable IOS version for switch ?

There isn't any GD version for switch. So how did I know which version is stable ?
    thanks!

    Hi there,
Usually the most efficient way of selecting a stable version of IOS/CatOS is to take a look through the release notes at the caveats section and verify if there are any issues that would affect your network directly. In addition, working with your local SE is a good idea, as they can offer you their design advice. Usually, a wise move is going with the latest release within a given branch is the most stable, as it includes the most bug fixes. I hope this helps.

  • AS5350XM - Compatible IOS version for 'ip host ... srv' command.

    Hi Friends,
I'm having AS5350XM model of Voice Gateways in CVP8.0 environment working with ICM8.0 and CUCM8.0.
I'd like to define static hostname-to-address mappings in VG for my CVP CallServers along with command argument 'SRV' to use  all 4 CVP servers for loadbalancing and failover functionality thereby assigning priority to each call server.
I tried by using a couple of IOS version starting from 12.4(24)T4 till 15.1(3)T, but can't find a particular version which supports the argument 'srv'.
I'd appreciate if someone could suggest me an appropriate IOS version supporting 'srv' argument with 'ip host' command on AS5350XM Gateways.
Pls feel free to revert for any clarifications. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Soman Nair.

You should be able to do it.
In your dial peer you should be able to say
    session target dns:callserver.sgp.foobar.com
and in your IP host table
    ip host CA1.sgp.foobar.com 10.10.1.2
    ip host CA2.sgp.foobar.com 10.10.1.3
    ip host CA3.sgp.foobar.com 10.10.1.4

  • Best IOS version for 3750 switch

I have just received 2 3750 switches, but both have a different IOS version.
One has -> IOS version 12.1(19)EA1d
and the other has -> IOS version 12.2(25)SEB2.
I just want to use the switches as Gb collectors for a serverfarm seperatly (so no stack configuration) with a redundant uplink to my distribution layer.
Can someone advise my which IOS is the best for my network?

    Thanks and Regards, Thomas

Ideally any feature set questions are answerable in Cisco Feature Navigator (http://www.cisco.com/go/fn).
The Secure Copy (SCP) feature provides a secure and authenticated method for copying router configuration or router image files. SCP relies on Secure Shell (SSH), an application and a protocol that provide a secure replacement for the Berkeley r-tools. So ideally you should be running crypto images (k9) which support SSH and hence SCP as well.
But following are some details about SCP, which may be helpful :
    Feature Name
    Releases
    Feature Information
    Secure Copy
    12.2(2)T12.0(21)S
    12.2(25)S
This feature was introduced in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)T.
This feature was integrated into Cisco IOS Release 12.0(21)S.
This feature was integrated into Cisco IOS Release 12.2(25)S.
The following commands were introduced or modified: debug ip scp, ip scp server enable.
Following is details Feature Information for Secure Shell Version 2 Support:
    Feature Name
    Releases
    Feature Information
    Secure Shell Version 2 Support
    12.2(11)T
    12.2(25)S
    12.3(4)T
    15.3(2)S
The Secure Shell Version 2 Support feature allows you to configure Secure Shell (SSH) Version 2 (SSH Version 1 support was implemented in an earlier Cisco IOS software release). SSH runs on top of a reliable transport layer and provides strong authentication and encryption capabilities. SSH version 2 also supports AES counter-based encryption mode.
The following commands were introduced or modified: debug ip ssh, ip ssh min dh size, ip ssh rsa keypair-name, ip ssh version, ssh.
Secure Shell Version 2 Client and Server Support
    12.0(32)SY
    12.3(7)JA
    12.4(17)
The Cisco IOS image was updated to provide for the automatic generation of SNMP traps when an SSH session terminates.
    SSH Keyboard Interactive Authentication
    12.2(33)SXH3
    12.4(18)
The SSH Keyboard Interactive Authentication feature, also known as Generic Message Authentication for SSH, is a method that can be used to implement different types of authentication mechanisms. Basically, any currently supported authentication method that requires only user input can be performed with this feature.
    Secure Shell Version 2 Enhancements
    12.2(50)SY
    12.4(20)T
    15.1(2)S
The Secure Shell Version 2 Enhancements feature includes a number of additional capabilities such as support for VRF-aware SSH, SSH debug enhancements, and DH Group 14 and Group 16 exchange support.
In Cisco IOS 15.1(2)S, support was added for the Cisco 7600 series router.
    Note
Only the VRF-aware SSH feature is supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(50)SY.
The following commands were introduced or modified: debug ip ssh, ip ssh dh min size.
Secure Shell Version 2 Enhancements for RSA Keys.
    15.0(1)M
    15.1(1)S
The Secure Shell Version 2 Enhancements for RSA Keys feature includes a number of additional capabilities to support RSA key-based user authentication for SSH and SSH server host key storage and verification.
The following commands were introduced or modified: ip ssh pubkey-chain, ip ssh stricthostkeycheck.

  • IPad supported iOS version for development

Hi, i have a reference iPad (1) for development, running iOS 4.2.1, now i need to upgrade to 4.3 for testing, but iTunes wants me to download the latest (5.1).
In Organizer i can see that supported iOS versions are:
    Xcode Supported iOS Versions
    6.0 (10A403)
    5.1
    5.0
    4.3
How can i get the 4.3 and install on my dev iPad?
    Anyone managed to do this?
    Thank you.

    Not possible.
Older versions of iOS are not available once a new version is released.
***** but that's the way it is.
About the only thing you can do is find a device that has the version of iOS you want and purchase it.

  • Is 5.1.1 really the latest iOS version for the original iPad?

I am trying to download the DirectTV app that comes up in the app store to my ipad and get message that iOS version 6.1 is required.  In settings, the iPad is on version 5.1.1 and says the software is up to date.  Is 5.1.1 really the latest OS for my iPad, meaning I cannot use the DirectTV online service?

    So true.
Apple controls the iTunes store and decides what apps get in. They could force app developers to have their apps work with older iOS systems, but instead, it's in apples best interest to force you to go buy a new tablet every three years. Apple doesn't care that iPad1 owners are the ones that made the tablet successful for apple. If they cared about their customers, if they wanted brand loyalty, apple would offer to buy back ipad1s for a decent amount that could be put toward a newer iPad. Apple lost my business. If 'technology dictates' that I have to get a new tablet every three years, I'm gonna go with a less expensive other brand.

  • What is the latest IOS version for my ipod

What is the lastest IOS available for my Ipod?

    If it's a first generation model, 3.1.3.
    If it's a second generation model, 4.2.1.
    If it's a third generation model, 5.1.1.
    Otherwise, 6.1.3.

I have an iPhone 3G, what is the most current iOS version? I have 4.2.1 and when I tried to update, iTunes says that I have the current version. I can't seem to download any apps with 4.2.1.

    That is correct,
The last release of iOS to support the 3G model was 4.2.1, released on November 22, 2010
The 3G model is now 4 and half years old.
