Minimum length of pwd in keytool

I'm using keytool (jdk version 1.5.0_14) to alter exisiting keystores and create new files. If I want to check an existing keystore (keytool -list -file ...) with a password length of five characters I get the following error:
java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect
The password I'm using is correct (already tested with openssl).
Is there a way to alter the minimum length setting - for already existing keystores and new files?
Thx in advance!

I don't know how the original keystores are createdI agree. You don't know their passwords either, or at least you can't use them. Somebody has stuffed up here. Folllow it up.
But it is possible to use an already exisiting keystore (with the defined pwd), delete all certificates and import my new certificateAs long as you know the password. Obviously you don't. Someone seems to have misinformed you. Follow it up.
(I know there are reasons keytool asks at least for six characters...).Exactly, and those reasons equally apply to whoever created the keystore. So in all probability they couldn't have created them with those short passwords at all. It's irrelevant. You can't use those keystores with those passwords so they have to be sent back where they came from and re-created with useable passwords. Follow it up. There's nothing else to be said.

    Hi Vidyanand,
    Did you create the runtime access user using the runtime assistant? Did you select the correct runtime repository (if you have more) to associate your runtime access user with?
    Note that there are 4 database roles being created when you create a runtime repository owner:
    - OWB_A_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_D_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_R_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_U_<runtime repository owner>
    If you would grant those roles to a user, then that user becomes an access user for the user with username <runtime repository owner>.
    Note that you can also use the runtime repository credentials to connect to the runtime repository for deployment purposes, but you may not want that because of security concerns.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

    Is there a way to set the minimum length of a text field without using a trigger?
    for example. I have a field called journal_no varchar2(7), I want to enforce that at least 4 characters are entered.

    In order to set a text item to a minimum value, you need to set the format mask.
    In my case it was
    AAAA
    and i was wrong...!!!!
    that just limits the number of characters to 4, i want at least 4, back to the drawing board......

  • Minimum length for stills ?

    Hi everybody,
    I wanted to import stills in a movie in a way that they would not look so much as stills.
    I thought I would reduce the length of time to 1 sec.
    When I wanted to render that part (a few images) I got a message saying "general error"
    Is there a minimum length of time required for the stills ?
    thanks in advance
    Ivan

    RVB? You mean RGB?
    From the original picture that I import, and which is about 5 minutes, what is the best way to reduce the length to a few images ?
    I don't understand. Pictures don't really have a LENGTH. I mean, FCP can import them as 1 frame or 5 min....and that is in the User Prefs. But reducing the original picture to a few images...that throws me. The picture...a STILL picture, is ONE image. So how can you reduce ONE image to a few images?

  • [BUG] af:validateLength breaks when only minimum length is specified

    Hi,
    here's a bug I just found using JDev 11.1.1.0.2.
    The following validated input field:
    <af:inputText id="inputName"
                  binding="#{backingBeanScope.MyBean.inputName}">
        <af:validateLength minimum="8"/>
    </af:inputText>using only a minimum value as threshold and no maximum, behaves erratically.
    When the entered value is shorter than 8 chars, it prints MessageDetailNotInRange instead of MessageDetailMinimum on the popup.
    In other words, what you get is "you need to enter a value with length between 8 and 0" instead of "longer than 8 chars" (not sure what the exact English text should be, but I guess you got the picture)
    Overriding the default MessageDetailMinimum string doesn't change behaviour, the component just picks the wrong string in the case you only give a minimum.
    Note that the other 2 cases (maximum-only and range) seem to work OK.
    Can anyone confirm this?
    RickyS

    Hi,
    no, I've not yet logged a SR for that (I can't file bugs, I have to open a SR and wait weeks before the guy opens a bug for me), was hoping for some confirmation...
    I was very surprised such a bug could exist in a production release, since it breaks 1/3 of af:validateLength's visible functionality and in fact I met it within my first 2 minutes of use of the component, so I just thought I'd ask if someone has ever met it before. Might be my machine, or me doing something stupid, or something.
    Not to sound harsh, but if this is confirmed then the question "is someone over at Oracle actually doing basic testing of ADF 11's components before labelling it production-ready?" comes to mind immediately, and is quite of concern for us.
    Paying money to Oracle to do beta-testing on behalf of Oracle ain't our thing, to be fully honest.
    The more we dig into ADF 11, the more we find bugs, bugs and bugs. And all the help we get is one-liners like "did you open a bug?" on this forum - assuming someone actually replies at all, half of my threads have 0 replies - or some guy on support which takes ages just to write down a couple lines with a precompiled answer to a Service Request ("there appears to be a bug in the component, will open a bug"), let alone opening the bug itself.

  • Minimum length of contract?

    Hello, I have just arrived in the UK and will be here for one year. I am trying to purchase a new phone (Galaxy S6) together with a plan. EE seems to have some pretty interesting offers, but I cannot find the minimum contract length to benefit from the reduced price for the phone (http://shop.ee.co.uk/mobile-phones/pay-monthly/samsung-galaxy-s6-32gb-black-sapphire/details). Is it 12 months, 24 months, other? For example with the recommended plan at 44.99 per month + 9.99 phone cost, for how many months will I have to maintain my plan? And what are the fees if I cancel early? I am sure that other people have asked that before, but I couldn't find the answer on Google. Thank you in advance.

    Linky don't compute. Corrected (leave spaces around URLs):

     IF you hit "Choose" you'll see it's a 24 month plan.
    Approx Early Termination Fees: Monthly fee x Months remaining - VAT (16.7%).

  • Minimum length when sharing to disk?

    Hello forum,
    I'm trying to save single drum-beats from s/w drum-sets as I want to build my own, using the "best" sounds from the several I've got.
    So I make one 1/4 note for the sound I want (one beat on a snare, f ex) and I set the yellow circle-ribbon to that exact 1/4 and I share as mp3.
    And the mp3 is empty. No sound. Nothing.
    I also tried to repeat the beat several times but then there was an added silence of two seconds in the beginning of the mp3... This never happened before.
    (All mp3s I've made start immediately)
    Anyone knows why? Or at least have a solution?
    Is there a minimum time for recording? Two seconds?
    Thanks In Advance,

  • Minimum Length Podcasts?

    Has anyone ever heard of an Applescript that would check the length of the podcast before it decides to download it or not? I subscribe to a few tech sites' podcasts that feed a full length episode once a week, but also little snippets from the same show every day. I don't need to download the snippets because I see the full length podcast. This is in iTunes v10.6.3 and Mac OS X v10.7.4 and I know almost nothing about Applescripting.... Thanks!

    This is bad programming on their part but I don't see any way you can get round it.

  • Using autofill with a minimum length for songs ?

    Hey guys,
    Is there a way to set an option on the AutoFill function in iTunes ?
    Everytime I use the autofill, I always get some songs in the list that are less then 2 minutes !
    But these songs are most of the times "intro's", "outro's" or "skits"... so I don't want them in the autofill list.
    Any setting to indicate a minimum lenght for autofilling ?

    no
    Guessing I should use the "higher" or "highest" quality settings in the Share dialog box?
    it depends what you plan to do with the file.
    uncompressed is highest fidelity, but very large in size. mp3 and aac are compressed,making them smaller, at the cost of fidelity.
    uploading full quality 44.1K 24-bit files is not very realistic. at the same time, trying to Master an mp3/aac is rather silly since you're starting out with a file that's had 90% of its data thrown away.

  • Minimum length of Number field in VO

    Hi,
    I am adding a attribute of NUMBER type in VO and i have to give the default value to 0001, to be displayed to user on screen.
    But as it is a number, so on screen its displaying the value as 1.
    How can we restrict that in VO?
    Thanks,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    Follow the steps below-
    Edit the transient attribute on which you want to do this. Go to Control Hints section. Select the Format Type field as 'Number'. You will see the Format field enabled now. Select '0000' in this field and you are done. You will now notice that even if you enter value '9' in this field, it will actually save it as '0009'.

    Whereas /etc/default/passwd on the ldap client says passwords must be 8 characters. This is seen with the pam_authtok_check: minimum length from /etc/default/passwd: 8
    . It is clearly not using the policy from the directory server but checking locally. So I can login ok using the ldap server for authentication but when I try to change the password it does not use the policy from the server which says I only need a minimum lenght of 6 characters.
    I have read that pam_ldap is only supported for directory server 5.2. Because I am running ds6 and with password compatability in ds6 mode maybe this is my problem. Does anyone know of any updated pam_ldap modules for solaris 9?

  • How to store variable length of data in data dictionary table

    hi friends
        i want to store variable length of text in one of field of table which is created in data dictionary.
        i tried it by declaring table field type as string,
    include that table using table statement and try to insert data in abap program . but it gives error something
    "cannot use table having deep structure " i don't remember it exactly.
          can you help me how to insert variable length of data in text data dictionary table.

    Hi,
        define field with type LRAW in your table to store
        string more than 255 characters.
          LRAW
    Uninterpreted byte string of arbitrary length, but with a minimum
          length of 256. Fields of this type must be located at the end of
          tables and must be preceded by a length field of type INT2. LRAW
          fields cannot be used in the WHERE condition. LRAW is functional from

  • How to restrict the length of the input?

    Hi all, could any one tell me how to restrict the length of the input string? My SOA Suite is 10.1.3.1
    I tried the following; getting an error.
    <element name="RestrictLengthProcessRequest">
    <simpleType name="SSN">
    <restriction base="string">
    <length value="10"/>
    </restriction>
    </simpleType>
    where RestrictLengthProcessRequest is the message name of the corresponding .wsdl and SSN is the input whose length is to be restricted.
    The error is : 'Attribute name not defined on element simpleType'
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi swathi,
    For this you have to create a simple data type. No need of writing a code.
    Go to Dictionaries -> Local Dictionary -> Data Type - > Simple Type - > Right click and "Create Simple Type".
    Here you should create a Simple type with String as built-in Type. Here you will also see the Length Constraints option.
    Set the value of maximum length and minimum length. In your case set the value of maximum length to 10. At runtime this will not allow the user to enter more than 10 characters.
    Now create an attribute and bind it to this newly created simple type. Bind the value of the input field with this particular attribute.
