Minimum Line Standard?

Anyone know if there is any minimum standard on the quality of wiring used up to the master socket? From the wall to the master socket I have about three different wire types used, including an old fabric covered twisted pair wire, which must got back many years. The line from the pole to the wall appears to have been replaced within the last 10-20 years, but it is connected to the old wiring immediately below the old insulators on the wall (telegraph wires held on with insulating tape). The connection just has the two bare wires stripped back and clipped together, no junction box or weather protection. Surely this can't meet any reasonable standard? Thanks Simon

A few years ago BT laid down strict ext wiring requirements on the Engineers for any new/repair work that is carried out on a line. The problem is that it is only lines that there has been work done on since it came into effect. Some lines have been there for many a year and are far below this standard. By what you say your wiring would not pass one of the audits that Engineers have to go through. Getting it brought up to the modern standard would be a problem unless there is a fault or you get work done on the line.

  • How do I set a PDF Export Preset to force a minimum line weight on output?

How do I set a PDF Export Preset to force a minimum line weight on output?  I'm currently using one that came from a printer that works great - but I can't seem to find the option when creating one myself.  I have some placed Illustrator line art that is built with .25 line thickness and when I have it placed at 20% scale the lines are too thin to see in the PDF output.

There is absolutely no way to force minimum line widths within InDesign itself, certainly not as part of the PDF export process!! And even one writes a script to go through every object within an InDesign document and both validate and fix line widths less than some particular threshold, such a script would be useless against placed artwork, the contents of which are not available for manual or programmatic inspection within InDesign.
Note that one should be exceptionally careful in “fixing” hairlines, especially if you are placing vector artwork at very low magnification. It may actually be OK to let certain lines drop out. After a fixup on some content, you could end up with a messy mass of lines.

  • ADSL2+ Broadband Line Speed

I have just renewed my 12 month home BT Total Broadband contract again (contract started Monday 14th March), and have always been very pleased with the reliability and quality of my (up to 8Mbps) actual download speed of around 4 to 5Mbps.
This time I was told I would have an (up to 20Mbps) actual download speed of around 14Mbps, which I verified using the BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker (ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 14Mbps, typically the line speed would range between 8Mbps and 18.5Mbps).
However, my line is now still yielding around 5Mbps, but I am aware of the 10 day, MSR, IP Profile BRAS, DLM, etc issues.    The bt.com speedtester has just yielded the following Test 1 results:
Download speed achieved during the test was 5281Kbps.
For your connection, acceptable range of speeds is 2000 - 7150 Kbps.
DSL Connection Rates of 7275Kbps Downstream and 888 Kbps Upstream
IP Profile for your line is 5500 Kbps
My point is : Surely the above Test 1acceptable range of speeds of 2000 - 7150Kbps, should now  be xxxx - 14000Kbps or higher, as ADSL2+ has a maximum speed of 20000Kbps and my line will support the 14000Kbps ?

This article from the Internet helped me to get my brain (what's left of it) round this problem. I hope it helps others too.
During the first ten days after the Broadband service has been provided, the line's performance is monitored, and the lowest connection speed is noted. This figure is used from then on to define minimum service standards below which the service can be considered to have a fault. Both during this period and afterwards, a system known as Dynamic Line Management (DLM) constantly assesses the performance of the line in order to provide information to the end user's DSL Modem/Router to allow it to choose a suitable sync rate, with which to connect to the Telephone Exchange Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), balancing speed against the risk of errors due to changing noise conditions. DLM can make adjustments to the DSLAM output power, suggested target signal-to-noise-ratio, and sync rate, and can choose to apply a technique known as interleaving, which aids error correction. Several factors dictate the sync rate, which limits the maximum attainable line speed, such as the presence of noise within the frequency spectrum used by ASDSL, but mainly it is the distance from the Telephone Exchange to the Subsriber, which has the largest influence on the line' performance.
    Questions.
Why are my Broadband Internet speeds now slower than the old Dial-Up service ?
Why is my Download Speed now lower than my Upload Speed ?
Why have my Down / Up Noise Margins doubled overnight ?
Why is the DLM system now assessing my line as so bad, after years of quality 5000 Kbps Broadband Speed ?
Why does the achievable speed top at 7150 Kbps, when ADSL2+ works up to 20000 Kbps, 14000 Kbps on my line ?

  • IDVD and standard (NTSC) television resolution...

If I understand correctly, television has 525 horizontal scan lines (NTSC), but I cannot find any options in any video conversion apps that offer a resolution option of 525x?.
What is the best resolution to choose when converting DVD files (which may be widescreen) to play on a standard television set with no black bars above, below or on the sides?
Also, what DVD file format should I choose to be safe as far as everyone being able to use it? If someone has a DVD console that is 9 years old, what is the safest file format to use.
And lastly, iDVD says it can use a dual-layer disc for up to 7.7GB of space. All my dual-layer blank DVD discs say they can hold up to 8.5GB.
    Why the huge discrepancy?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanx.

    Hello Michael,
*If I understand correctly, television has 525 horizontal scan lines (NTSC), but I cannot find any options in any video conversion apps that offer a resolution option of 525x?.*
The reason for this is that 525 scan line standard refers to analog video. See this guide for further confusion: http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~f76998/video/conversion/
The standard for NTSC digital video (DV) is 720x480
*What is the best resolution to choose when converting DVD files (which may be widescreen) to play on a standard television set with no black bars above, below or on the sides?*
The resolution should be that of the source (in this case the DVD) ... but you might run into trouble here because of widescreen issues as widescreen has the same resolution but a different pixel aspect ratio.
*Also, what DVD file format should I choose to be safe as far as everyone being able to use it? If someone has a DVD console that is 9 years old, what is the safest file format to use.*
The video format for a DVD is given: It is multiplexed MPEG-2 (VOB files). iDVD will output just that.
*And lastly, iDVD says it can use a dual-layer disc for up to 7.7GB of space. All my dual-layer blank DVD discs say they can hold up to 8.5GB*
Although most manufacturers of hard disks and Flash disks define 1 gigabyte as 1,000,000,000 bytes, the computer operating systems used by most users usually calculate a gigabyte by dividing the bytes (whether it is disk capacity, file size, or system RAM) by 1,073,741,824. This distinction is a cause of confusion, as a hard disk with a manufacturer rated capacity of 400 gigabytes may have its capacity reported by the operating system as only 372 GB, depending on the type of report.
    hope this helps

  • Supplier Quotation Reference for PO Line

I have a requirement to identify the 'Supplier Quotation Reference' for a Purchase Order Line(Standard PO).
The RFQ will be matched with the Sourcing module using item_id and it should be the latest RFQs.
Could you please help me in identifying the latest RFQ from sourcing module for PO Line?
I dont have any experience in Sourcing module, it would be good if I can have the table details and links for creating RFQ in Sourcing module (not from core purchasing).

    hi,
I don't have any idea abt indents but
When you required to make PO with one line item....then its always suggested to make a PR for your n numbers of line items and club them into one line item in PO...
    hope it helps..

  • STO line still appears in MB5T

    Hi,
I have an issue in MB5T. One of the lines of the STO is still appearing. This line is the automatically generated line of empties material. Its STO quantity is 20 while its delivery quantity is 60. I believe this difference is causing to appear in MB5T. The goal is to remove this line in MB5T.
Please advise on how to do this.
Some note: GR indicator is not set for empties material line (Standard behavior)\
      Thanks!

    Hi,
I think what happens is that GI is greater than GR. Initially, the quantity in the delivery is the same as STO. But later on, it was changed. Thus, causing the difference. Because of this, this line is appearing in MB5T and the concern is to remove that line in the report.
If I'm not mistaken the process is STO->Delivery->GI. Is that correct?

  • NI 9866 LIN module on 28V bus

    Hello!
I need test an automotive component that operates on 28V LIN bus. This is the operating voltage of a LIN bus in trucks. The voltage will be raised to 32V in an overvoltage test. The VBAT voltage specification of the NI 9866 is 8V to 18V, although the XNP TJA1028 LIN driver that is used in this modul allows 40V supply voltage. Is there a way I can use this modul on 32V? Are there other reasons the VBAT pin is limited to 18V?
    Bye
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The reason why we spec the module to 8-18 is for two reasons:
    1) The LIN standard indicates that the operating voltage of the bus is 8-18V.
    2) Our current NI-XNET PXI/PCI LIN hardware (and legacy NI-CAN USB LIN hardware) use a different transceiver that is only rated to 8-18V. If you use something beyond this range, it will not be portable to our other solutions.
The TJA1028 data sheet does have some conflicting information. They are clear that 40V is their absolute max. In the one place they mention that it may not work > 18V (Table 7, note 5 says "For VBAT > 18 V, the LIN transmitter might be suppressed."), but in other places they indicate that the working range is 4.5-28V (Section 7.2.1: "The operating range is from 4.5 V to 28 V.").
If you are running between 18V and 28V, the Application Hint AH1003 indicates that it should work, but is also not fully guaranteed to run correctly "LIN functional specified. Voltage regulator full specified"
If you are running > 28 V (overvoltage test), you are outside of the working range of the TJA1028. The TJA1028 is not guaranteed to run correctly. It should be safe from damage, but it is not guaranteed to run correctly. (from AH1003, "SBC not damaged. Functionality will be ok, but no parameters are guaranteed".)
The other components contained in the NI 9866 Module that connect to VBAT should tolerate the 40V as well without any issues. I am still looking up one thing (power dissipation), but I believe even at 40V we will not be exceeding the allowable power dissipation.

  • Error Message FMBAS202 Year of cash effectivity mandatory for budget cat 9G

    Hi all,
I activated BCS and use update profile 000350 (Separate PB/CB budget lines; standard), we tried to post simple FI posting and the error come up
    ==============================================================
Year of cash effectivity mandatory for budget category 9G
    Message no. FMBAS202
    Diagnosis
The FM update profile does not support the year of cash effectivity for commitment/actual values (posting ledger 9B). However, the year of cash effectivity is mandatory in BCS budgeting for budget category 9G and FM area 0100: the minimum value in this case is 2009.
    System Response
Processing of the commitment/actual data record stops.
    Procedure
Deactivate the year of cash effectivity for the corresponding budget category 9G and FM area 0100 in the IMG activity Choose Budget Category.
    ===============================================================
So I click the link and it goes to Define Budget Category screen where we assign budget category (9G) and time horizon (1) to a FM area, but not mention of deactivating year of cash activity.
    My question is:
    1. Where is the button to deactivate the year of cash effectivity?
    2. What's the difference between budget category 9B and 9G? Both are Commitment Budget.
    3. I dont remember assigning budget category 9B to an FM area. Where is the setting?
    Thanks

    Hi,
When you go to IMG - Public Sector Management - Funds Management Government - Budget Control System (BCS) - BCS Budgeting - Basic Settings - Definition of Budget Data - Choose Budget Category, what's the settings for 'Time horizon' field? It should be blank for 9G(commitment), if you don't work with cash effectivity.
9B is posting ledger, while 9G is budget ledger. You don't have to assign 9A/9B to FM area.

    Eli

  • CS4 products adding required Startup items to MSCONFIG

Adobe CS products for Windows install several items in the Startup tab in MSCONIG. As a rule, Startup items are unnecessary and take up RAM and other resources. Until I installed the CS products I had no items checked in the Startup tab which meant my PC started up (and shut down) quickly and only the bare minimum of standard Windows OS programs were running in the background. The Adobe CS install added five items: CS4ServiceManager, AdobeCollabSync, a blank line with no Startup Item name or Command line text (I have submitted a general forum query about that line), Acrotray, Acrobat_sl and Reader_sl. In previous installs Adobe added Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher, Adobe Gamma, Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, and Adobe Reader Synchronizer.
I would prefer that Adobe not add anything to my Startup tab. I don't want any unnecessary programs running in the background. And I don't want any company forcing me to run programs in the background. Note: If you uncheck CS4ServiceManager, AdobeCollabSync or that strange blank line, Adobe CS products will not run. Instead, they will start, an error message (148:3) will appear, and the programs will close.
With this surreptitious Startup program installation, I get the sense that "Big Brother" is watching. Since no other company that I'm aware of adds items to the Startup list that are REQUIRED to run their software, I'm sure Adobe can change it's install routine to not add items to the Startup clutter.

  • This Forum's Navigation

For anyone who is struggling with this new forum, I just discovered that if you display discussion DETAILS rather than THUMBNAILS, you can see navigation to earlier posts.  Scroll all the way to the right.  The buttons are under ACTIONS.
In THUMBNAIL mode, you only see 30 posts in small boxes with no navigation.  In DETAIL mode, you'll see navigation to the right of SORT BY field.  Unfortunately, I can't conveniently insert a screenshot because the camera icon is not working.  I'll see if I can paste a screenshot below.
    Nancy O.

Agreed, it was mentioned in another thread that wasn't part of the port over but it's pretty painful. I can't see from even a basic database standpoint how giving a user a view of their past posts is hard. That's fairly "forum 101" meets "database 101". All the relational information is available. I hope this returns soon.
As for me (Chrome 34/Win7 64) I'm able to edit my posts (some users say they can't), but that could be for other reasons.
    Couple other notes..
    - I think it was a best intention to provide a view of a discussion with a way to respond directly from the Inbox, saving a round trip to the server, but the inline view is far too simplified. It lacks 'new reply' highlighting, reply numbers, user badges and counts, actions to moderate or mark correct, etc etc. At this point the view is just confusing. Rather than gathering the reply data, reduce that server strain and point it back toward a simple link back to the original full functionality discussion as the default.
    - Consolidating all notifications into an orange (with white text?) badge unifying them all is going to cause a ton of server strain. As mentioned in other threads these notifications can be adjusted but I can't even begin to imagine why Jive thought it's practical to remove multiple menus in replace of 1 as well as consolidate all notifications into one, with a huge empty black bar in between:
All of that space in between (depending on browser size) can't be utilized to distinguish a new random reply vs a reply to my own discusstions vs moderation vs etc etc?
Some confirmations, wish list and "me too"s:
    - Editing your profile needs some work. I saw my forum username turned into my real name and even setting the privacy of my email to "Yourself" and hitting Preview I could see my name and my company email. That scared me... I logged out of the forums and saw all that information thankfully wasn't going to be scooped by spambots however. Profile view just needs some fixes.
    - Discussion history with an simple indicator for new, unread responses. Bonus points for extra highlighting on various events (OP response, thread has been answered, etc).
    - Agreed on the actions/documents bar on the left. I think there was all of 2 whole documents, ever, in the Flash forum. I'd like to see a simple collapse/remove toggle or it simply exterminated altogether.
    - Font size. Coming from "typography 101", 16px was the old accepted minimum size standard. And then there were devices. Now I'm seeing point size creep lower and lower. Sure, I can increase my browsers font size so I can read important parts of posts, like code. But every time I come here I'll need to increase it to something normal, then reduce it for the rest of the web. I think the size is just too small, especially when fonts are bolded. They're so small the subpixels run into each other.
    - Code is everywhere. Some basic support for common code and structure tags is still missing. Color coding HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, AE Expressions, etc etc would go a very long way. Even just a scrolling div container with a fixed width font and line numbers would help a ton here, with or without color. While at it, Make a tab, a tab. If I paste in tabbed code I get tables all over the place. If I paste them in HTML edit view they disappear. If I just press tab in the WYSIWYG editor I get spaces. If continuing to allow people to paste tabular data in is so important then a simple <code> directive could save a lot of wasted time reformatting code for these forums.
    - Really picky but having the "Add Reply" and "Cancel" button below someone elses post (the one I'm responding to) was confusing at first glance. I thought it should be directly below my own post or attached inside the borders. I had to double check to make sure I was pressing the right button.
    - During editing, I really would like to see all the previous responses. Way too many times I'm editing a response I just posted and want to look through the other posts but need to open a new window to the original post. It's very common to see all posts during replying and editing, both.
    - Arks of read-only content still exist. Should these be pruned? Some are active topics but are still curiously read-only?
    'Nuff for now

  • BT, why won't you let me give you money?

Tried to order BT TV as an addon for my broadband and phone package as I want to get catch-up TV without adverts (on 4od mainly), which I believe BT offers with it being subscription based. It's also what the guy on the phone told me, but I've learned not to always believe people on phones.
However the guy on the phone told me the system wouldn't let the order go through as my bandwidth is too slow. I get around 5.5mbps which is way above the 3mbps minimum the YouView site quotes. Obviously it may fluctuate and it might not be fast enough for some of the content but I can live with that. I was told on the phone the website would allow my order to go through but that doesn't either.
Assuming my initial assumption is correct (about the lack of adverts), is there anyone reading this from BT that can override the block on me ordering BT TV? Thanks

BT is only one of the partners on Youview - so BT has its own player the BT Player and some internet delivered live channels. The BT player has catchup for some of the BT delivered channels not for the Freeview delivered channels. The BT internet channels can only be received with Infinity although some people can receive the  BT sports channels ver copper broadband if it is fast enough and their local exchange has the capability.
The other players on Youview are provided by the broadcasters themselves and in the case of some of  the commercial broadcasters look to include adverts before and during their on demand content.,
As to minimum broadband speed - this is what the BT website currently says:
    Frequently asked questions at
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/tv-packages
What do I need to get BT TV?
To get BT TV, you'll need BT Infinity or standard BT Broadband with a minimum line speed of 2Mb. To see what broadband speeds you can get use our broadband speed checker
If your line speed isn't fast enough, you might be able to boost it with our Broadband Accelerator
You'll need a BT Infinity package if you want to watch BT Sport on BT TV. If you can't get BT Infinity, you could still get BT Sport with standard BT Broadband. We'll let you know when you start your order.
Finally, you'll need a SCART cable (which we'll supply) or an HDMI cable (to watch HD) to connect your set-top box to your TV.
I suspect that BT may have revised that minimum line speed upwards as I think that 2Mb applied to the now legacy BT Vision service but 5.5MB should  be OK. That speed would not be sufficient for the BT Sport channels to be provided by BT TV.
In my opinion the real benefit to you of getting Youview from BT pack would be obtaining a Youview box and having a BT TV subscription that allowed you to watch catchup and on demand on that Youview box without impacting your broadband allowance.

  • Text Format/Style/Spacing options

I am still working in iWork '09 to give Apple a chance to deal with the bugs and dropped features in the 2013 release. I'm giving the new Pages a test run now to see if it is ready for prime time.
I noticed a Lines popdown menu in the Spacing pane of the Style tab of the text Format inspector.  The options (Lines / At Least / Exactly / Between) seem non-standard. Is there any documentation on them? I couldn't find anything in Pages Help.
    Related questions, perhaps:
Apple seems to have revised its image placement options in new Pages. I presume this to make export to ePUB easier/more consistent/whatever, but that's guesswork on my part. Does anyone know of any paper where the features of the latest iWork releases are discussed, especially as concerns eBook production?
    Thanks in advance,

Lines is multiples of the largest object, character on the line of text. It is useful for varying size objects such as inline images, tables, textboxes and shapes. It can make individual line spacing vary within a paragraph.
At Least does what it says, sets a minimum line space but can go larger if required.
Exactly sets a fixed line space that does not change no matter what the size of anything on the line. This spaces a paragraph uniformly.
Between is the standard single spacing between lines plus or minus what you set here.

    Step 5 says this:
    5. After the installation
To activate SAP Solution Manager Enterprise Edition, the Enterprise Addon SM_APPLM has to be activated in the IMG of the Solution Manager System. This is done via IMG activity SAP Solution Manager->Configuration->Scenario-Specific Settings->Activate Solution Manager Enhancements.
                a) In the case of ST-400 SP15-SP17
To use Extended Tracebility in Change Request Management activate BC-Set SOLMAN40_CHARM_CONTEXT_001 in transaction SCPR20
                b) In the case of ST-400 SP18 or higher
The activation of BC-Set SOLMAN40_CHARM_CONTEXT_001 will be done automatically.
In my spro i don't have this options->
I see the route Activate Solution Manager Enhacements in  SPRO -> Cross Scenario Settings
    And in enterprise extension I only see ( SM_CRON, SM_QC_AD, SM_SSP,SM_SUPP_VAR)
I guess that this in SP24 is done automatically, but you said, that don´t forget the step 5 after installation.
update:I check for updates of SP and this add-on don´t have SP for now

  • 2LIS_02_SCL / Getting both Posting dates of goods receipt & invoice receipt at the same time

    Hi,
I have created a DSO based on the schedule lines standard extractor 2LIS_02_SCL.
The keys of this DSO are PO Number, PO Item and Schedule Line number.
I have succeed to get some key figures like PO Quantity, GR Quantity and Invoice Receipt Quantity according to the Process Key value.
Furthermore, I'd like to get too the goods receipt date (Process Key = 02,12,22).
In order to do that I wrote a small routine in the transformation rule for my target field which fill it only if the process key is 02, 12 or 22.
The problem is that it doesn't work well because of the invoice records in my source package...
Indeed when there is an invoice in my PSA for a schedule line, my target field (GR date char) is empty (for these schedule lines, last record is Invoice Receipt type). So it means my transformation rule works but is overwritten by an blank value when there is a process key 03,13 or 23 (invoice Receipt type).
Do you have a idea to solve my issue ?
    Thank you very much

    Hi.
You have to write start or end routines for this scenario, not the field level routine since it gets overwrite with last record values....
    overall logic is:
Collect GR date per PO Num, PO Item and PO SCH. Lin num..like you have internal table with PO number, PO Item and PO Sch line number and GR date. First you have to go through source_package or result_package and fill up that temporary internal table
And than again go through source_package or result_package and READ that temporary table and fill GR date for all records of same PO sch. lines ..hope this resolves the issue.
I would prefer end routine if you have posting date in DSO or target structure
this is little bit complex, so you need ABAP skills....

  • Got error: Location Code is not enabled in the XML Gateway Server

    Hi,
When I perform Compliance rule screening on GTM - Globel Trade Management, that I defined GTM as an Trading Partner on EBS R12.1.3,
GTM can send response to EBS,but I see the following error message via Transaction Monitor on EBS workflow:
[The Standard:OAG, Transaction Type:ITM , Transaction SubType:EXPORT_COMPLIANCE and Location Code GTM6.2 is not enabled in the XML Gateway Server. Pls check your Setup.]
On EBS,I defined an ITM Partner for GTM,named 'GTM6.2',according to the document created by you: ITM Setup.doc
and I also finished the following steps:
    1. ITM Application Users
    2.ITM Partner Service Types
    3.ITM Parameter Setup
    4.Order Type Creation: ITM Only
5.Customer Creation: create a customer named 'GTM6.2', also enter 'GTM6.2' as EDI Location
6.Define Transactions on XML Gateway as following:
    <Header>:
    Party Type: Customer
    Transaction Type: ITM
    Transaction Sub Type: EXPORT_COMPLIANCE
    <External Transactions (Lines)>:
    Standard Code: OAG
    External Transaction Type: ITM
    External Transaction Sub Type: EXPORT_COMPLAINCE
    Queue: APPLSYS.ECX_IN_OAG_Q
7.Define Trading Partners on XML Gateway as following:
    <Header>:
    Trading Partner Type: Customer
    Trading Partner Name: GTM6.2
    <Trading Partner Details>:
    Transaction Type: ITM
    External Transaction Type: ITM
    External Transaction Sub Type: EXPORT_COMPLAINCE
    Map: WSHITEIN
Source Trading Partner Location Code: GTM6.2 (same as the value what defined in EDI Location for customer)
I think the combination of External Transaction Type, External Transaction Subtype, Standard Code,Source Trading Partner Location Code
should be existing once done above steps, I have no idea why the error prompted.
Does someone can tell how to trace the error?
    Thanks,
    Rambler
