Minimum server specification
Can someone point me to the minimum server specification for iPlanet metadirectory ver 5.1. I am running this on a Blade 100 and Netra T1 server, and need to know the specs if this is supported?
The minimum system configuration is mostly governed by the no. and size of entries it is suppose to flow. Pls. check the Hardware Sizing section of Sun ONE Directory Server Installation and Tuning Guide.

A sample server specification for Oracle RAC environment
Hi,
Our project has decided to change the single instance database to a RAC environment. Can any one provide a sample server specification to be analysed based on our project.
For example minimum processor/RAM....
ThanksThis is the simplest installation you can get, but if you want to do a fast response file based installation, there it is.

Minimum hardware specifications
Is the minimum hardware specifications for Windows Server 2012R2 Standard and DataCenter the same? Where can I find the minimum requirements for each?
They're the same for minimums:

Best Practices for Packaging and Deploying Server-Specific Configurations
We have some server-specific properties that vary for each server. We'd
like to have these properties collected together in their own properties
file (either .properties or .xml is fine).
What is the best-practices way to package and deploy an application (as an
ear file), where each server needs some specific properties?
We'd kind of like to have the server-specific properties file be stored
external to the ear on the server itself, so that the production folks can
configure each server's properties at the server. But it appears that an
application can't access a file external to the ear, or at least we can't
figure out the magic to do it. If there is a way to do this, please let me
know how.
Or do we have to build a unique ear for each server? This is possible, of
course, but we'd prefer to build one deployment package (ear), and then
ship that off to each server that is already configured for its specific
environment. We have some audit requirements where we need to ensure that
an ear that has been tested by QA is the very same ear that has been
deployed, but if we have to build one for each server, this is not
possible.
Any help or pointers would be most appreciated. If this is an old issue,
my apologies, would you please point me to any previous material to read?
I didn't see anything after searching through this group's archives.
Thanks much in advance,

Paul,
I have a similar situation in our project and I don't create ear filesspecific
to the environment. I do the following:
1) Create .properties file for every environment with the same attributename
but different values in it. For example, I have phoneix.properties.NT,phoenix.properties.DEV,
phoenix.properties.QA, phoenix.properties.PROD.
2) Use Ant to compile, package and deploy the ear file
I have a .bat file in NT and .sh for Solaris that in turn calls theant.bat or
ant.sh respectively. For the wrapper batch file or shell script, you canpass
the name of the environment. The wrapper batch file will copy theappropriate
properties file to "phonenix.properties". In the ant build.xml, I alwaysrefer
to phonenix.properties which is available all the time depending on theenvironment.

It works great and I can't think of any other flexible way. Hope thathelps.

NCS VM Minimum Server Requirements
Cisco's NCS Small Virtual Appliance Requirements as per below allow monitoring of up to 3000 access-points. We only need to monitor <400 Access-Points, 4 x WLC's and <25 autonomous access-points and I am wondering is anyone has deployed NCS on VM with less than the small virtual appliance requirements to monitor only a small number of AP's and WLCs?
Minimum server requirements for deploying NCS Virtual Appliances
Cisco Prime NCS Large Virtual Appliance:
• Up to 15,000 lightweight access points, 5000 autonomous access points, 1200 wireless LAN controllers, and 5000 switches or up to 5000 routers
• Minimum RAM: 16 GB
• Minimum hard disk space allocation: 400 GB
• Processors: 8 cores, at 2.93 GHz or better
Cisco Prime NCS Medium Virtual Appliance:
• Up to 7500 lightweight access points, 2500 autonomous access points, 600 wireless LAN controllers, and 2500 switches or up to 2500 routers
• Minimum RAM: 12 GB
• Minimum hard disk space allocation: 300 GB
• Processors: 4 cores, at 2.93 GHz or better
Cisco Prime NCS Small Virtual Appliance:
• Up to 3000 lightweight access points, 1000 autonomous access points, 240 wireless LAN controllers and switches or up to 1000 routers
• Minimum RAM: 8 GB
• Minimum hard disk space allocation: 200 GB
• Processors: 2 cores, at 2.93 GHz or betterHello,
I am not sure about NCS but I have tried another Cisco product that can be purchased as an applicance or installed virtually. It had minimum requrements of RAM and desk space.
When I treid to install it on a virtual machine it complained about desk space. it could not be installed until I - virtually - assigned the needed minimum desk space to the virtual machine.
For the RAM however it did not complain although it was less than 1/4 of the minimum requirement listed in the document.

Clusterwide vs. Server Specific Bean Deployments
Hello all,
How is it possible to deploy some EJBs on specific servers within
a cluster and others clusterwide when the weblogic.ejb.deploy statement
in the server-specific properties file overwrites the cluster properties
parameter? Do you end up having to deploy everything on the server
specific level? Is a bean still truly 'clustered' if listed in
multiple server specfic properties files (assuming <home-is-clusterable>
is true)?
Thanks!
Matt
Prasad,
Thanks for your reply. The problem I experience is that if I have
a ejb.deploy statement in ServerA's properties file, then any deploy
statements in the [mycluster] level properties file is overwritten
and those beans are not deployed. The properties files are read
global, cluster, server, but opposite order has priority. If every
server in the cluster has specific deployments, the cluster level
beans will not be deployed. Is there another way to deploy, something
like: weblogic.cluster.ejb.deploy=... or something?
This is WebLogic 5.1 that I am talking about, btw. I'm not familiar
enough with 6.0 clustering to know if this is also the case with
that version. Thanks!

Override web.xml With Server Specific Values
Not sure if here or the OC4J/J2EE forum is most appropriate place for this question:
We're currently working on migrating from the old jserv setup to 9.0.4 app server with OC4J. We have the infrastructure installed and are managing the application through Enterprise Manager. In my web.xml file I provide initialization parameters to one of my servlets using something similar to the following:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>util.GlobalPropertyManager</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>util.GlobalPropertyManager</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>mhris.batch.outputdir</param-name>
<param-value>d:/dev/java/mhris/defaultroot/batch/</param-value>
</init-param>
</servlet>
Now, this directory path I've provided is only good on my local workstation. When I deploy to my UNIX production servers, I need to override this with a valid path depending on the server being deployed to (no, they don't all have the same directory setup, yeah it's a pain). These servers include our production boxes, development server, test, training, etc.
Currently under JSERV, I provide server specific values in the Global Init Parameters section of my property file (don't remember why we didn't use the Servlet Init Parameters property instead). This works very well since this file is not touched when we land updates, so the values are set once for each server.
Under OC4J, I understand that I can override the values in web.xml by using an orion-web.xml file BUT it appears that this file resides in the WAR I deploy, so each server will get the same orion-web.xml rather than maintaining its own set of values.
Is there another .xml file I can use to provide these initalization parameters? global-web-applications.xml looked promising but I wasn't completely sure I could put values for my application in it or where exactly they should go (ie. inside the existing <web-app> section or if I should create a second one specifically for my app).
Any ideas or will I have to reploy a different orion-web.xml file to each of my servers?
Appreciate the assistance,
MichaelMichael,
First, I would just modify the web.xml during each deployment.
Second, I would recommend using the same relative path with the web-app context. Then, you can use the Servlet API to retrive the real path of the web-app context.
I don't think it is necessary to use orion-web.xml or other properties files. -

blazeds/branches/3.0.x/qa/features/excludes.propertiesHi,
Did you create your destinations in your application server? It seems that the destinations such as topics and queues are not created. First you should create them and then start using them.
For example, in here, it says that jndi/Topic is not valid. To check if the destinations are valid or not; you can do it either through the graphical user interface or the command line console. -
Hello all,
SAP recommends the following specifications for the xMII server
1) RAID - 1 Disk (3 logical SATA Disks)
Question: Our normal standard is for a RAID 5 with three physical drives. Would this cause any issues?
On the 3 logical SATA Disks, does this mean 3 logical volumes are required?
2) Database size - 400 GB
Question: Is this the recommended capacity of the RAID set or is it the recommended size of just the database? We plan to do a small POC and this strikes me as being overkill. Is this quantity correct?
Any help would be appreciated.Jawahar - Please watch your versions. This is the second forum post that you have included this hyperlink to an old SDN document that was for version 11.5, not version 12.0. Even though the application content and connectivity is largely the same the entire web application server and underlying architecture has been ported from a file system based Microsoft IIS / NewAtlanta ServletExec to the database system running on NetWeaver WebAS 2004s SP10+. The specs listed in Joe's document are quite outdated.
Srinivasan - the application content and complexity that you implement and the number of users accessing the system should still be your guide for any sort of sizing. Since xMII version 12.0 is now an application deployed onto the WebAS Java stack you should use the NetWeaver sizing tool for the hardware recommendations and then include RAM allocations and possible clustering considerations that are in alignment with your prospective xMII 12.0 application.

Real World Server Specifications
We are on the cusp of deploying Lync 2013 and have decided on the following configuration:
3 front end servers w/ 2 load balancers in an HA pair
2 edge servers
2 SQL servers with 1 SQL witness server.
What we are not sure about is the specifications for the servers. Currently we are considering dual hexacore procs with 32 gb RAM and 8 10K HD's with 1 and 2 in a raid 1 and the other 6 in a raid 10. We are planning on supporting 300 users including voice.
Does anyone have any advice on how to properly spec these servers out? Any advice is appreciated.
ThanksHi Bradley,
If you haven't already, take a look at the capacity planning calculator. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36828
I usually use this tool when specing out servers.
The Lync Planning Tool is another resource that I use: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36823
Off the top of my head, the specs you have provided should well and truly take care of the load (and then some), for 300 users on EV, I probably wouldn't even spec that high, but the capacity planning tool should help you out.

Recommended server specifications for IOP 11.1.2.0 server?
In the iop_11120000_readme.pdf it references the following document:
"Information about system requirements for EPM System products is now available in a spreadsheet format in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix. System requirements are no longer part of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation Start Here."
However, the EPM System document references this page:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html
which contains an xls file for "oracle_hyperion_epm_system_certification_release_11.1.2.0.xls", which does not specifically mention IOP.
Can someone please direct me to suggested specifications for a dedicated IOP server running 11.1.2.0?
Thank you.
DonaldIn our install guide we document the server and client configurations that are supported. The recommended spec would depend on the model and there are no specific sizing guidelines as of now. We do have some guidelines for calculating the block cache size and that is for computing memory size.

I developed a java application using net-beans IDE with jsp and we deploy it in glassfish application server and we want to know what is the hardware requirement for this application to run 1000 user at the same time .is there is a tool that calculate the session memory for one user that can i use it . and i have used the net-beans profiler but i did't understand it's result .
please help me to know server requirement
thanksModerator Action:
This post was originally placed into the Servers General Discussion forum.
That is a hardware forum.
This isn't a question about any hardware component on any specific model computer system.
It has been moved to a Glassfish forum, hopefully for closer topic alignment.
Other moderators might yet relocate it further. -
our head office has server about tera bytes of data. what we do. we copy our required data from head office to our localy maintained server which specifications are 512MB RAM and 80 GB hard which has used about 25GB. On our local server we are 20 users who perform DMLs frequently. Local server is also an application server for forms and reports.
Our local server bcome slower day by day. i have requested to my boss to upgrade our server to Hight RAM and Hard Disk. Is it enough to increase RAM and how much.
and please send me report if any body of you have presented to your boss for upgrading of server.
[email protected]Hello Partner,
I have checked the issue history, from our side, I'd like to know the information below.
1. Could the log of that affected server be generated to the DW database properly? If not, can we say that the issue started from monitoring this affected server firstly?
2. Was this server a untrusted domain member, and other server which work well ?
3. May I know if the logs can be generated to the operational database?
4. Have you found any agent alert for this affected server in SCOM?
I look forward to your reply and have a nice weekend.
