Minimum specifications for Lion

I have a snow lepoard OS currently.  Version 10.6.8.  I have the other minimum specifications for upgrading to Lion except one.  I only have 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM...
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo...
Anyone upgrade from this to Lion? and if so...is Lion working properly?

You can do it yourself: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1423
You can get Memory at a number of places, I use OWC and Crucial
btw, older iMac's (2006) will cost $58 for 4G.

  • IMovie 08 minimum specification for editing with AVCHD

I recently got a new Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder, and I'm trying to work out my options for editing what I shoot.
I have an early 2006 iMac with a Core Duo processor.
This meets the minimum published spec for iMovie 08, but I can't find the details of the spec required for editing AVCHD source material.
I expect it to be sluggish at best, but can anyone advise as to whether its worth trying at all? I'll have to invest in iLife 08 and 2GB of RAM, so... will I be wasting my money?

I believe you are OK to import/edit AVCHD as long as you have the Intel processor. It can't be done on a pre-Intel Mac.
Invest in iLife 08? If you are getting it for iMovie 08 because you bought the hard drive cam and that's your only option, since it won't work with iMovie HD6, then I guess that could be construed as an investment. However, I'll bet you didn't do your homework before going with a HD hard drive cam because if you liked iMovie HD6, you may not feel the same about the 08 version. Be aware that it is NOT an upgrade to HD6. A HD miniDV cam would have been a better cam choice, usable with HD6 or 08.
Never hurts to have more RAM.

  • Minimum Specifications for Oracle 9ias

We are in the process of implementing 9ias with the aim of servicing Analytical requirements via Discoverer, Reports and eventually to create standard form-templates accessible from our different offices around the world. The number of users is aimed to be initially less then 50 but eventually the number of users will increase during the first year of implementation and beyond.
What is the min requirement for processor speed?
Disk space required including web cache and db cache.
    Is Raid Configuration supported?
I would like just an indication so as to know if we are on the right track!

  • Minimum specifications of DPS for Android device

I would like to know the minimum specifications of DPS for Android Device.
I found the information for Android OS in this form,
Supported versions of Android OS are :
    2.3.x (Gingerbread)
    3.x (Honeycomb)
    4.x (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Are there any minimum specifications for Processer, Memory (ROM/RAM)...?

DPS viewers should run on Froyo (2.2) or later, and only on Android devices defined as Large or XLarge. Some people have loade viewers onto smaller Android devices such as phones, but doing so is not yet supported.
FYI, this article might help in understanding the differences between Android and iOS viewers:

  • What is the best cleanup/security tool for Lion

I am looking for a good cleanup/security tool for my iMac. Specifically for Lion. Any recommendations or horror stories will be appreciated.

anti-virus is not necessary unless you have Windows installed on a seperate partition.  Security tools aren't necessary either.  You are on a mac, not a pc.  Totally different worlds.  You can download Disk Doctor from the app store for 99 cents.  And if you insist on an a/v program, install ClamXav (it's free-do a google search for it)

  • What are the real minimum requirements for Mountain Lion?

What are the real minimum requirements for Mountain Lion. Currently running Snow Leopard. I have a late 2006 Model: iMac6,1. Specs: 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo, 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2, and the optional nVidia GeForce 7600GT c/w 256MB GDDR2. The advertisement is stating a 2007 model as the minumum, however the fastest 2006 Gen Plastic iMac should be faster then the slowest 2007 Gen Aluminum iMac7,1?

From a previous posting from some else, I saw it was the 32bit versus 64bit video card driver being the issue. I was wondering if the optional video card I have installed also was limited to the 32bit issue. 64bit drivers exist for the 7600 GT GPU.

  • Is there a way for my macbook air (running Lion) to access an external hard drive on my Imac (running snow leopard) specifically for Iphoto and itunes?

Is there a way for my macbook air (running Lion 10.7.2) to access an external hard drive on my Imac (running snow leopard 10.6.8) specifically for Iphoto and itunes?

Yes. For those two applications specifically there is sharing. This presumes both computers are on and connected to the same network.
In iPhoto, enable sharing by (on the iMac) going to the iPhoto menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my photos. You can either share the entire library or only selected albums. Now on your MacBook Air, in iPhoto, go to the same preference pane and select Look for shared photos.
iTunes has something similar. In the iTunes menu > Preferences > Sharing > check Share my library on my local network. On the other computer, look in the left column for SHARED and select the iMac. You can now play that music on the MacBook Air.
There are other ways to share files but for those two applications this is the simplest way.
    Best of luck.

Downloading Lion from the Mac App Store didn't put the Lion OS on your computer. It put an application package called Install Mac OS X Lion on your computer; specifically, in your Applications folder.
If you install from the Install Mac OS X Lion application package inside your Applications folder, the application package (the installer) will be deleted once the installation is complete. You must copy the installer to another location or to another drive/media before you run it to upgrade to Lion - if you didn't do that, then you have to download it again.
If you did copy the installer, then you can just copy it over to any other Mac you own which meets Lion's minimum system requirements and run it again to upgrade those other Macs to Lion.

  • How do I add a device to my iCloud? - specifically for "Find my iPhone"

    Hi All,
How would I go about adding my old iPod Nano to our "newest" iCloud/iTunes account?  We recently had a theft of one of our iPod Touches and I am trying to make sure ALL Apple products are covered moving forward.  I believe my husband registered his iPod Nano to his account a long time ago before we realized we should just use one and customize in settings but it won't let me register it (iPod Nano) to mine... I've tried... I even tried to re-add my old iPod Touch (stolen one) but it wouldn't work.  ***** - because I could totally DELETE everything whenever I wanted if that were the case.  So bummed.
If you know how to do this please let me know.  If I need to basically "create" a separate "find my iPhone" specifically for this product... let me know.  I am OK either way.  I just really wish I could have done this for my other one that was stolen.
I HIGHLY recommend that everyone download Lion OS to use iCloud and really utilize ALL its features.  I'm still learning ... day 2 for me but am super happy thus far.
    Thanks!
    <3 Kitty2231

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If the nano can't run iOS 5 (I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it can), then it can't be used with Find my Phone.

  • I have OSX 10.6.8 - how do I make room on mac HD for Lion?

I have a Mac Pro 1.1 with OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leoprad. I want to move all my music, photos, and videos to other hard drives so i will have more room in Mac HD for Lion etc. I have not been to do this. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

If you have a MacBook Pro 1,1 then forget it, stay on 10.6.8.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner and clone your OS X 10.6 boot volume to another blank GUID OS X extended formatted drive. (use the Secure Erase > Zero feature on the drive first to eliminate any bad sectors) this is your 10.6 clone so you can boot and use PPC based apps your going to lose going to 10.7/10.8 or to come back to 10.6 if you won't like the Lions.
Hold option key down on a wired keyboard to boot from the clone drive and check it out.
Next zero erase your entire 10.6 original boot drive holding option from the 10.6 installer disk
Reinstall 10.6 from the disks (same account name), reinstall iLife from the second disks and call Apple if you want to upgrade to 10.7 specifically but your MacPro 1,1 can go to 10.8 directly from AppStore.
Now your machine is bare bones, install your 10.8 compatible third party programs/upgrades etc.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
On another drive setup duplicate Music2, Pictures2, Movies2 and Document2 folders and copy your files from the clone into them. Thus only on the boot drive is programs and OS X, no files.
You can command drag items like the original Documents, Music, Pictures folders off the Finder window sidebar and use the Music2, Pictures2, Movies2 etc there instead. However some programs will still try to save things automatically in the original user folders.
When you launch say iPhoto in 10.8 against the older 10.6 iPhoto Library, it will update it.
This sounds like a lot more work, but it's really giving you a solid footing, a stable fast system and free of crapola.
I always take a extra mile in being through to eliminate as many potential issues as possible, as it's cheaper and less hassle than cure, my machines always run well and fast, even Windows ones.

  • Pro Mac Pro Tip for Lion Users

Been frustrated with your Mac Pro since upgrading to Lion?  Maybe I can help.
I’ve spent the last few months just hating OS X Lion. I thought Apple should have given it a better nickname, like “System Hang” or “Patience is a Virtue.” I spent more time starring at the dreaded spinning beach ball of death than I did getting work done. Where I once kept open as many browser windows and tabs as I liked, I began closing everything I didn’t absolutely need right then. Aperture 3, which I adore, had become impossible to use.
Things had gotten so frustrating, I was seriously thinking about doing a clean system install — something I used to have to do every 6-12 months with Windows, and was one of the reasons I made the switch.
But there were other things I could do to speed things up, and here they are in no particular order:
    • Replace system HDD with a super fast SSD. But that’s expensive, and a hassle. First you have to clone your existing system on it, and all four of my drive bays are full. So I’d have to put the SSD in a FireWire-freindly enclosure, clone it the slow way, then swap it in for the HDD.
    • Put in a faster video card. This seemed the least-likely to do any good, and I’m not exactly taxing the card this machine shipped with more than two years ago.
    • New CPU. I could install a non-sanctioned EFI update, and swap out my quad-core Xeon for something sexier. But not only is that expensive, it also voids my warranty.
    • More memory! This is usually the go-to upgrade. It’s easy. It isn’t very expensive. And even if it doesn’t do a whole lot, you know you want it anyway.
Now, this Xeon processor has three memory channels, but the motherboard has four memory slots. If you fill all four, your memory takes a speed hit — but you can fit in more memory. If you use just three matched memory sticks, the processor can take full advantage of its memory architecture.
When I bought this box, I also picked up four 2GB memory sticks. I figured I could try it both ways: 3 sticks for 6GB of faster access or all 4 for 8GB of restricted access. Under previous versions of OS X — Leopard and Snow Leopard — things ran faster and smoother with the full 8GB.
Well let me tell you: Lion does not like slow memory. Not one bit.
Yesterday I ditched all four 2GB sticks and replaced them with three 4GB sticks. The 50% increase in memory space is a nice bit of room for Lion to run around in, but I’m wagering that leaving that fourth slot unfilled was what really did the trick. Because let me tell you, right now this Lion roars. All the bad things I said about Lion? I take them all back. And if you’re a frustrated Mac Pro/Lion user, heed my advice.
At this very moment, I’m looking at email, 40 or 50 browser tabs in six windows, my calendar and iTunes blown up to full screen, ripping a Blu-Ray and crunching it down to 720p at 30fps, sorting through more than 2,000 RAW images in Aperture, doodling around with three different Pages documents, and two Christmas shopping spreadsheets — all strewn across nine virtual desktops, while in the background iTunes is serving up two video streams to Apple TVs upstairs and Time Machine is cranking away to keep my data safe.
My Mac is a Mac again.

    Hi ...
Avoid MacKeeper. Results of an ASC forum search for MacKeeper >  Community Search: Apple Support  Comments are discouraging for the most part. You don't need third party utlities installed to take care of your Mac. For the most part they do more harm than good.
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Disabling the Lion "resume" feature may help.
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
You can use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk and reinstall the Mac OS X.

  • How do I get the download for Lion OS on my iMac if I don't have the App Store app?

I stopped by the Apple Store and they told me that they can't sell me Lion OS in the store.  Since I have an older iMac with out the App store App, they said that I need to contact Apple Support.  But do I have to do that via phone or can I somehow email them?

What you need is to get (buy and install) Mac OS Snow Leopard first; that includes the app store. After you install and update it, then you can launch the app store and buy/download/install Lion. Now, how old is your machine? Here are the requirements for Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949
You will also need a minimum 2 GB RAM, but you really should have a minimum of 4 GB to get good performance.

  • Condition type PMIN Minimum Price for material

    Hello
We have a requirement where we need to maintain minimum price of material in master.
Whenever in sales order price is entered and is lower than minium price for material maintained it should automatically add the difference as surcharge. If the price maintained is more than the minimum price maintained it should not do anything.
I guess we have to use Ctype PMIN for this. I amy using this condition type have created a condition record and maintained a minimum price for this material f09 as rs 1000
Now when i am creating sales order price picked up from pricing condition record for that customer is 500 . Now it should automatically add Rs 500 in condition line item for condition type PMIN.
What is happening is it is showing me my base price as 500 and it is adding PMIN as 1000 to the base price and showing total base price as 1500
If price maintained in pricing condition record is more than 1000 for ex 1200 even then too it is adding PMIN as 1000 and showing total base price as 2200.
Please let me know what am i missing...
    Regards
    SANJEEV

-T code VK11 - Maintain condition records - You can use the upper and lower limits functionality in the condition records for those specific materials.
-Also Make this condition type as mandatory then check it out.
