Minion Pro Font not in CC InDesign

Have been using CS6 and tried to migrate to trial of Creative Cloud but InDesign doesnt recognise the Minion Pro font in the docs I have created. Can I get it in Creative Cloud? Thanks.

I'm having this same problem. I just upgraded from CS6 to CC, and Minion Pro isn't showing up in InDesign. How'd you fix it? What did you update? All CC apps are updated, but I'm still not seeing it. I even reinstalled Minion Pro from a backup, but I still can't get it to display. Any ideas?

  • Minion Pro fonts I was using disapeared after InDesign CC crash--any ideas what to do?

I'm fairly inexperienced with InDesign, but this summer I took over laying out a quarterly newsletter. The primary font my predecessor and I have been using is Minion Pro, and I put the last issue together without any problem. This weekend I've been working on the Fall issue, which is now almost finished. Last night, Adobe CC InDesign crashed; this morning, Minion Pro bold and Minion Pro italics are gone. *poof* Pink highlighting everywhere. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened, and/or what I might do to get them back? If not, what would those more knowledgeable suggest for a substitute? Thank you in advance.
Additional Information: Before starting this issue's layout, I had to switch from my Mac, which died, to a PC. So, I'm not sure if this problem might be connected to platform?

Thank you for your response, and for clarifying that those fonts (which do not show up for my current document, old documents where I successfully used them, or any new documents any more) are generally part of the install package. Unfortunately, I have no idea how on a PC to "locate and install" them, so I'm currently trying uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign. (Futura disappeared, too, so something strange has been going on since the crash.) We'll see if that works!

  • Euclid Symbol Bold and Italic fonts not working in Indesign CS5

Hi I created some Maths Text books about 5 years ago in an older Adobe Indesign program. I now have to re-edit the files using Indesign CS5.
The Euclid Symbol Bold and Italic fonts i used back in 2005 now do not display in Indesign 5 when i open up the program. The other Euclid Symbol Fonts do. I think that they are all truefonts.
    I have attached an example.
I am using a Mac running OSX 10.6.8.
http://www.dessci.com/en/support/mathtype/tsn/tsn109.htm    <-- this is an error log from 'MathType' the guys who created the font - yet unsure what this actually means for me
    Here is the example

Congratulations on fixing the problem yourself! Hopefully our article (to which you linked) was of some help in that process. Let us know if you need anything else.

  • Fonts not showing in InDesign CS6

    Hi there,
I've seen a similar question to this before through a Google search and I tried the advice listed such as placing the affected fonts in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\InDesign CS6\Fonts; as well as searching for fonts with a **after its name.  Doesn't work.  The files originated in CS5 and pops up saying there are two missing links (fonts) which are Avenir Book and Avenir Black.  I've done the "Find Font" and the only one that shows is Avenir Book.  Avenir Black isn't even there, even after re-installing and relocating to the new folder.  Secondly, even after I save the file after "finding" Avenir Book, upon re-opening it still says it's missing.  Is there anything else I can try-short of uninstalling InDesign CS6 (I still have CS5 installed)?  Also, I'm not that familiar with InDesign, it isn't a program I use much.
    Thanks!

Is this the same computer where the files started out in CS5?
There are probably quite a few different cuts of Avenir (certainly over the years it has been available as TT and T1 in both Windows and Mac formats, and I have an OpenType version here from Linotype). Some possibilities for why CS6 might not see a font are that you have installed a different version, you have more than one version installed or it is installed in more than one location, or that it is looking at a different internal name in CS6. Typically, if the fonts are showing as missing, but are, in fact installed, using Find Font and substituting the same font will solve the problem.

  • Fonts not showing in inDesign

A am using (in two different offices) Extensis Fusion 3 and Universal Type Server 3 (UTS) and both are having the same issue. I am on Windows 7, 64bit with Adobe CS5 with Adobe font collection. All licenced and legit versions.
This issue has been happening for a couple years and I have finally had enough and need it resolved. Computers have come and gone, fresh installs etc etc but we are still having the same issues.
Randomly sometimes Indesign is not showing activated fonts in indesign. This usually happens with Helvetica Neue Light 45 for some reason but can happen to other fonts, usually the ones we need at the time.
The most recent case is that we cannot get the fonts we need (although activated) and we can see other fonts that are not activated?
    Has anyone experienced this before?

Sorry that you're having issues with activation. Could you please contact support directly to diagnose the issue? It could be an issue with the font itself, and could benefit from inspection.

  • Computer font not availabel in InDesign

I have a font that is showing up in Photoshop but not InDesign.  In Font Book it lists the font as though it is at the computer level. Why does it not show up in both?  How do I get it into InDesign?  (CS4 on Mac)

On any Library level the font should be accessible for all applications. If you want to get it quickly there for InDesign just reveal the font and copy it to InDesign's fonts folder. A soothing reboot may also be the ticket if you don't want to go that route. A restart of InDesign is mandatory for fonts placed in it's folder to become availble.
There is also the possibility that it is in InDesign but under a different name than Photoschlop. Check under ITC in addition to Avante Garde. May just be a quirk in the system.
Also, not sure how serious Font Book's activation is. I am under the impression it doesn't handle activation via injection like most of the font managers. I think it is more of a dumb copy routine rather than the memory endangering goodness that we enjoy with Suitcase or Linotype's FEX.

  • EPS font not previewing in Indesign CS5 overprint view

    Hi,
After importing an eps logo into Indesign CS5 it previews fine when Overprint Preview is turned off, but when overprint view is turned on only the logo icon appears, the font disappears.
The font has been outlined - the logo is solid white and appearing on a solid black background. When exporting the file to pdf the font also disappears. I have tried saving the file as an AI file with the same result.
    Any ideas?

First of all you should be using native Illustrator .ai files with PDF compatibility turned on (this shows up in the options dialogue after you save).
Your logo was converted from artwork originally done in black with the Overprint Fill attribute turned on. Overprint tells the output device not to know out the colour below the logo. When printing black, this makes sense. When printing white, this effectively makes the logo vanish, since the only way to print white is by knocking out.
Open the logo in Illustrator and select all the vanishing white artwork (probably a Select All will do). Open the Attributes panel and turn off Overprint Fill. Save as an Illustrator file and place that.

  • Fonts not appearing in InDesign

    Hi,
Does anyone know why some fonts won't appear in InDesign even though they are in my Fonts folder on Local Disk?  I also tried putting a copy in the Fonts folder in InDesign, but they still don't appear in the program.
    Thanks,
    Jen

    Hi Everyone,
Thank you for all of your responses.  I apologize for the late comment; I left work early on Friday and didn't get to try deleting the Adobe Font lists.  Interestingly enough though, yesterday (Monday) the Arial Black regular showed up in both Photoshop and InDesign but in the list under Arial.  Arial Black still only shows the italic option.  I swear though that when I scanned the font lists in both programs to make sure they weren't out of order some place else, that it wasn't there, and even in InDesign, it highlighted my text to tell me I was missing the font.  When I opened the same file yesterday, it no longer showed the highlight.  I tried restarting the computer on Friday too though, so I don't know what the difference was between Friday and Monday, but the Arial Black regular is there now, so I'll just go along with it.
    Thank you!
    Jen

  • Font Not Appearing in New Document

    Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
    Adobe Creative Suite CS6
Whenever I create a new Document in InDesign 6 I cannot see the font when I insert a text box.  For example, when I insert a text box and start typing, it appears as though something is happening, but I do not see any text.  What appears to be happening is the InDesign, by default, uses the Minion Pro font.  When I change the font, to Arial for example, then the text appears.  Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it.  By the way, it is not happening on my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion.
    Thank you in advance,
    Michael

Can you tell me where the Adobe common fonts folder is?  Also, how do the Adobe fonts differentiate from the Windows Fonts?

  • How can I upgrade to the latest version of Minion Pro (with a full set of superior letters)?

I purchased Minion Pro a long time ago and love it, except ... it uses the ISO set of superior letters. I transcribe a lot of 17th- and 18th-century documents, and they use superior letters not in the ISO set. In Minion Pro Read Me it says that version 2.030 created 2007/08/16 has a full alphabet of superior letters. How can I upgrade from my version of Minion Pro without a full superior alphabet to a version with a full alphabet? --Thanks!

I believe you're referring to an item on Minion Pro's Release Notes document. I've checked the latest version of this family and I'm sorry to tell you that Minion Pro does not have a full set of superiors. The comment in the Release Notes is incorrect.

  • How do I get InDesign CS5 to stop changing my font to Minion Pro?

With no document open, the font says Times New Roman, so that should be the default. However, pasting text into a text box from another program like Open Office Writer and then adding a carriage return (normal Enter, not Shift+Enter) causes the font to suddenly change to Minion Pro, so anything I type or paste in at that point is in Minion Pro. I'm getting tired of constantly opting out of InDesign's favorite font. What do I have to do to get InDesign CS5 to accept that I use Times New Roman and not Minion Pro?

Let's see if we can explain this better...
Here's what I think is happening based on what I've been able to do here to reproduce this.
First, in the Clipboard Handling prefs the setting is to paste text only, not All Information. The TNR setting is a local override to Basic Paragraph which has been set as the default in the character panel or control panel, but [BP] itself is still set to Minion Pro.
You can type all day in ID with settings like this and not have the font change to Minion Pro, so it is tied to the paste settings. I think what is happening is that ID must ignore any formatting in the copied text in order to make the pasted text match what is set at the cursor position and for some reason resets the default text attributes to the paragraph style definition, so when you press enter your local override default is gone, but only for that frame. I believe this is actually using the Paste Without Formatting command.
It doesn't seem to matter if you continue to type in the same paragraph, the next one loses the override. You can make this happen using the Paste Without Formatting command after copying text you type with your default settings as an override, as well, even if the format of the copied text is already exactly the same because you typed it in the same paragraph. The trigger for this though, is the position in your text where you paste -- it only happens when you paste at the end of the existing text in your story.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior, though I'm leaning towards the latter as it makes some logical sense to me. Paragraph formatting for the next paragraph is picked up from the last character when you press enter as you type at the end of a story, whereas if you type on the end of an exisiting paragraph in the middle someplace, the break at the end of that paragraph is already formatted.
Bottom line, I think the only way to make your workflow work is to make a default paragraph style with your TNR formatting eihter by editing [BP] or making a new one. I'm not sure why you didn't have success with a new style. Did you create the new style with nothing open? Did you set the formatting to be TNR? Did you also be sure to highlight this style with nothing open so that it was set to be the default?

  • CC 2014-Application Package Required components -Font Minion-Pro

I noticed that in the new CC 2014 that Several fonts are set as required components in the application package.
Example Minion-Pro is installed in the application. Minion is a common font that I would want to make sure I am using the licensed one I have to use.
What Fonts can you safely remove from the required components fonts folder with out messing up the CC program.

Yes I understand the "Required Components" but just like the mac OS not all the fonts installed in the system folder are actually needed you can remove some of them that are not actually needed by the program.
When you are trying to deal with font management on machines and between people having a font like Minion Pro as a required font is not helping dealing with real font management.
Font management is crucial in a production environment.

  • I'm using Adobe font Minion Pro and I need a small customization done. What is the process?

My project involves transliteration from Hebrew to English. The standard denotation for certain Hebrew letters that do not have a direct equivalent in the English alphabet requires a that a dot be placed underneath the English letter (particularly the letters 'H' and 'V').
The Adobe font Minion Pro offers hundreds of glyphs of alternative letter formats, including many letters with a dot underneath, just not the two letters that I need.
Is there any ways to get this font customized to offer these two letters with a dot underneath in all the style options (i.e., capital, lower-case, bold, italics, etc.)?
Is there an alternative? Perhaps a similar-looking font offers the glyphs in question or maybe there is a way to manipulate the font to meet my requirements i.e., there is a glyph for a dot that sits beneath the letters but it takes up its own space, maybe I could type it in the same space as a letter?
I've never used the forum before and I don't even know if anyone will see this.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sammy

With regards to Mike Wenzloff's response in terms of the license for Adobe fonts, unlike many other font foundries, Adobe does not prohibit you from making alterations of a font for your own use, whether changing individual glyphs, adding glyphs, deleting glyphs, changing or adding font metrics, and/or conversions to other font types.
Having said that, modifying a standard font is not a particularly prudent idea unless you contract witht he original font foundry to make such modifications. Why? Virtually all commercial font editing software is lossy, even if  you don't change font types. The lossiness often occurs in the hinting since most font editors only retain the font shapes from the original font, not the hinting information.
More importantly, the needs expressed by sammyoziel, the original poster in this thread, are very real yet fairly simple. Effectively, he wants to make the equivalent of compound glyphs. The most common example of this is to portray the sound of the Hebrew letter Chet which is the gutteral h sound, often represented in Western Latin languages using ch. Of course, ch is more commonly used for the actual ch sound as in child.
I've seen two methods of dealing with these Hebrew letters with no Western Latin equivalent. The first is what sammyoziel suggests, putting a dot under the character. The other method is to simply use the underscore. For example, use h to represent the chet sound. That requires no modification to any fonts at all and is probably the simplest and safest way of accomplishing what you need.
If you must use the first method (and I have personally had to do this a number of times), I would most strongly recommend against trying to add glyphs to the font. What Unicode values would you use? How would you key them? And you would end up with a non-standard set of fonts. I would recommend that you simply use two glyphs. In the case of the h with a dot underneath, I would first key the h and then the period character. Custom kern the two glyphs such that the period is centered with the h. Then custom lower the glyph such that it is beneath the h. You may also need to do a custom kerning with the following letter or perhaps, insert an extra non-breaking space (see which space width works best) after the period.

  • Where can I download missing "Minion Pro" and "Myriad Pro" type fonts?

For some reason I have fewer Minion Pro & Myriad Pro type fonts on my Windows 7 home computer than I do on my Windows 7 work computer, and I'm trying to do the same commercial project with both of them.
I have subscribed to Creative Cloud for over a year, and am wondering, can I download them from Adobe?
There are lots of free font sites on the web, but are they Legal, Safe, and Simple?

Look for a "Saved Fonts" folder in Program Files\Common Files\ Adobe

Here's a positive thing: Windows viruses can't run on OS X, but they can be transferred from OS X to other PCs (only if you have them on the OS X volume).

You could get a virus from a different source that infected Steam and Chrome without any problem. Viruses normally try to infect as many files and programmes as possible.
