MiniSAP WAS 6.10 and JAVA 1.4.1 (SUSE Linux 9.0)

Hello all!
I have some problems with the MiniSAP installation under
SUSE Linux 9.0.
I use the MiniSAP WAS 6.10, SAP DB 7.3 and the SAP Gui for the JE 6.10.
The Problem comes with the Java 1.4.1. In the documentation from the SAP CDs is the version IBMJava2-JRE-1.3-45 required.
If I try to run the SapGui i get many errors from Java (I think).
Anybody has a idea ?

René

Hello René,
I think you should download the latest SAP GUI for JAVA at: ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/java/630r4/PlatinGUI-Linux-630r4.jar

  • How to set and static ip_address for a Suse Linux box

    Hi.
I've done the following to set an static ip address for my Suse 9 Linux box:
    - Take not of inet address value from ifconfig command. ie: (172.17.2.14)
    - Change this value in /etc/hosts for my linux box.
Since Suse is configure by default to use DHCP for assigning dinamic ip_addresses i'm not sure whether will lastly be set as a static address. I've rebooted my box and it seems to be OK.
    Thanks in advance ...!

/etc/hosts is not configuration file for ethernet interfaces.
Configuration files for ethernet interfaces are stored in /etc/sysconfig/network directory.
For example if you have eth0 device then configuretion for this device is stored in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 file.
    Important directives:
    DEVICE - interface (eth0)
IPADDR - IP address of interface
    NETMASK - netmask
BOOTPROTO - "static" for static configuration, dhcp for dynamic configuration via dhcp
ONBOOT - activating interface during boot (yes/no) (yes - of course :-) )
    GATEWAY - default gateway
So for example you want setup static IP (192.168.10.1 / 255.255.225.0) for eth0 interface.
Edit the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 file and your configuration should be:
    DEVICE=eth0
    IPADDR=192.168.10.1
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    BOOTPROTO=static
ONBOOT=yesThen you simply restart the nework using:
    /etc/init.d/network restartOR
    /sbin/ifdown eth0
    /sbinf/ifup eth0 OR
    ifconfig eth0 down
    ifconfig eth0 up

  • New Server for Preview SAP WAS ABAP and Java

    Hi
I wish to purchase a new PC or server to specifically house my ABAP and Java preview installations rather than have them running on an old PC and laptop.
Anyone out there got some recommended configurations?  Max spend will be £1500.
    Cheers
    Ian

    Ian,
Personally I wouldn't be happy running a server 24/7 at home but would want to just switch it on and the server start so would be looking to have some sort of script to run the relevant WAS instances automatically on startup.
160Gb hard drives would be ample. Could consider increasing the storage and then the system could double up as a backup device as well as a SAP server.
I've built systems in the past and that's the approach I'd take for this too. I don't mind buying pre-built systems but I
detest all the rubbish software they bundle with them. If you build it yourself you can install just Windows and it'll run like a dream.
    This bundle looks interesting:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-039-OK
The motherboard takes four memory modules so the 2Gb would consume two of these allowing for upgrades in the future if deemed necessary. Add in a couple of HD's, a DVD-RW, a cheap gfx card and a case and you'd easily get change from £800. Could spend a bit more to get more silent components too.
Now I've had a look around and priced them up I'm even more tempted!!!
    Cheers,
    JB

  • My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

    Cheers. Don
No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac  or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

  • J2me and java card, need help to communicate

we are trying to put together a reader to read smartcards using j2me and we figure that it would be easiest if we could develop it to work with java cards rather than standard smart cards, the problem is we get garbage when we communicate to it, the chip sends us crap, any suggestions what might be wrong, any calls we might be missing, has anyone worked with j2me and java cards or smart cards, any help would be appreciated.
    einar

.... reader app and the ME behind it .... smells like mobile ....
First of all - if you want to have one mobile application running on this just make sure that whatever is written in ME can use drivers from the reader chip ....
Workin on the PC is something completely different. There was one good example how to develop one host application in Java provided with the JCOP tools long ago ... I don't know if this is now in the new Eclipse tools.
But - there was a small API provided that can give you good hints what to do - and - once you have it on the reader side - you can easily integrate ME methods with this ...

  • Problem with win2000sp3 and Java web start

I have JRE and Java web start (1.2.0_01, build b01) which come downloading file j2re-1_4_1_01-windows-i586-i.exe from sun.
I have win2000pro running on my PC.
I had updated win2000 to service pack 2 and everything was fine.
Now i decided to update to service pack 3 (in the process I also updated other components) from Microsoft and:
    1) Java applets seem to be running fine within i.e.
    2) If i try to run an application from java web start my PC freezes and I have to restart it.
    3) Staroffice 6.0, which runs on Java, seems to be fine.
I reinstalled both sp3 and jre etc, with no result.
    Is this a known problem?
    Thanks to all.
    Maurizio

I suspect that you have hit a known problem with Swing on Java 1.4.1 with buggy video drivers. Do you have an ATI card? They are the worst offenders. ATI released new drivers for its Radeon line today. They fix the problem.

  • Report Script returns no data and "java.io.FileNotFoundException" error

When attempting to write to a new file (Eg: C:\TEST.txt), Report Script returns no data and "java.io.FileNotFoundException" error occurs.
This error occurs only in Essbase 9.3.1.3 release, however it works fine in release 9.3.1.0.
After running the report the script, it pops up the follwing message:
"java.io.FileNotFoundException: ..\temp\eas17109.tmp (The system cannot find the file specified): C:\TEST.txt"
When checked the TEST.txt, it was empty.

Sorry folks, I just found out the reason. Its because there was no data in the combination what I was extracting.
but is this the right error message for that? It should have atleast create a blank file right?

  • MySQL and Java - getting program to work

I am setting up mysql to run sql from a Java program on my pc at home and probably biting off more than I can chew. I get these messages when executing the java program ExecuteSQL.java:

    This is what I did.
I created a folder on my C: drive named MySQL.
I downloaded these two zip files form the MySQL website
         * mysql-connector-java-3.0.11-stable
         * mysql-4.0.18-win.zip
Installed both of these in folder MySQL.
I modified this line in the program ("ExecuteSQL" 1st pgm in chapter 17) I got from "Java Examples In a Nutshell" and compiled it into directory jwork.
    String driver = "com.mysql.jdbc.driver", url = "jdbc:mysql://", user = "", password = "";
The readme file talks about putting a jar file in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext.
the word "Java_Home" (I now know) is not literally the name but represents the
name of the folder where the JDK to be used exists. So I put a copy of
    mysql-connector-java-3.0.11-stable-bin.jar in folder C:\JDK14/jre/lib/ext.
    Then I get a ClassNotFoundException error com.mysql.jdbc.driver.
    After finding
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=439796
    and
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=499888
and others, I copied (a second copy) the jar file to the directory where I am create my java objects.
Then I unzipped it to that directory, creating three folders that hold the unzipped objects.
I tried executing the program again. I get the messages at the top of this post.
The Manifest file is in one of the three folders unzipped to my java work directory.
In the second of the two above threads, jsalonen says:
the problem can be solved by mentioning mysql.jar in the Class-Path attribute
in the manifest of the jar file:
In this "manifest" file, there are only three lines and I added a fourth and it looks like this
(there are two, one in directory MySQL\META-INF and one in directory jwork\META-INF:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.6.1
    Created-By: 1.4.0_01-b03 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class:jwork\ExecuteSQL
How do I "mention" mysql.jar in the class path attribute?
In the index.list file (in the directory with the manifest file, do I need to add anything to refer that "com.mysql.jdbc.driver" is the driver?
    Do I need index.list in MySQL\META-INF ?
Thank you for your help. The program ExecuteSQL follows.

Don't put those JARs in the lib/ext directory. Only language extensions (e.g., packages that start with "javax") belong in there.
Learn how to set the CLASSPATH properly for starters:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html
You might want to look at the JDBC tutorial, too:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/
Do one thing at a time. Get the program to work, then worry about packaging it into an executable JAR.

  • How not to use Cold Fusion and Java

    Overview
This write up is intended to give java developers that are
developing ColdFusion applications some beneficial information:
    things that are not documented.
    Scenario
The company builds enterprise class web application software
for fortune 500 companies. It had purchased a CF 7 based product,
had and existing proprietary J2EE based product, and needed to
integrate the two while meeting a host of new requirements. These
requirements were based on delivering a better user experience,
faster / cheaper integration, increased flexibility /
configuration, useablily, decreasing maintenance costs, the ability
to deploy in either install or ASP models. An initiative was
started to create a new framework that integrated the best of each
technologies. Tactically, this meant that we were to build a hybrid
CF and java application: one that used building blocks (decoupled /
cohesive components) that would allow applications to be rapidly
assembled, configured and deployed. This made sense on several
levels, the team was composed of Java and CF developers, the CF
rapid application development was very productive, there is great
functionality delivered in the CF platform and initial performance
tests showed no cause for alarm
The agreed upon design, based on requirements, and analysis
by both the CF and Java staff has us using CF in the presentation
layer, using a CF based MVC, use of CF based web services. The MVC
was deployed using CFC inheritance for model objects and views made
use of CF custom tags. The internals of the application, used a
rules engine, some proprietary java, ORM, and other J2EE
technology. The initial performance of the system was reasonable.
We pushed on with product implementation.
Then it was time to load test the application, and tune it.
Under load the response times were orders of magnitude slower,
sometimes the pages even timed out.
Armed with our profiler, oracle execution plans and we
charged ahead addressing issue after issue. Note that we took
meticulous care in tweaking the active thread pool and ensuring
that our CF setup was tuned for our application. None of the
observations here are a condemnation of the language; rather they
are aspects that, when considered together, not conducive for
building integrated java and CF frameworks that use a structured /
OO programming practices. Further detail can be provided on
    request.
CFC inheritance should be avoided - resolution of variable
scope is expensive even if properly declared.
Since CF creates a class per method under the covers call
stacks become very large, especially if used in a loop. This is
nominally exacerbated by CF calls necessary to set up for the
    method call (String.toUpper()).
Nesting of loops and if statements should be kept to a
minimum - the conditional for each lookup of logical operator like
LT, GT are synchronized. Under load this results in thread waits.
Jrun has as single thread pool - both http and web service
requests use the same pool. Under load this leads to thread
deadlock. There are work arounds, but they are painful.
Recursion should be avoided - we had a few recursive routines
and these had to be rewritten.
Custom Tags - should be used sparingly - each custom tag
makes a synchronized call to the license server - (This may be
    fixed in CF 8)
    Summary
In the end we got the performance to reasonable numbers, but
we ended up moving some code to java (Custom Tags) and getting rid
of 'good programming' practices (Inheritance, loops, etc), mandated
proper variable scoping for those things left over. We prototyped a
sans cold fusion implementation and had an order of magnitude
improvement in performance and number of requests served per
    second.
The lesson? Use Coldfusion in its sweet spot: make a query,
iterate over the results and format for display. Extensive use of
structure programming techniques or OO CFCs should be avoided: they
will work but under load - but are better as a prototype. Building
frameworks in CF? Think twice, no three times, and, if you must, be
    minimalist.
    Text

    interesting aslbert123,
Not that I doubt you, but could you answer some questions
about your implementation that was so slow:
1.) Did you put your CFCs in the application or server scope?

  • I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Is Apple aware of this problem? No longer supported?

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I just went up to check the LiveConnect object functionality page AND IT WORKED THIS TIME! I must confess, this is very mysterious. I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

  • I need to know the right tools and java technology

Please help,I need to know the right tools and java technology to support what I need.
    I had background programming in Assembly,C++,Visual Basic,SAP/ABAP 4.
All I can say, programming is about logic, now we are very helped building program using objects.
I'm very interest to SAP tech, where all screens, programs, reports are resides on tables, this is the real dynamic!
CUrrently I'm eager to do the same technic with java. I'm new to java....
What I know the J2EE is the core for me to start is it right? I was very interest with the Client-Server Tech. How can I impelemet this with Java?
I'm a bit confuse with so many java solutions. There is Java Applets, Swing, Java AWT, JavaBeans, etc...
I don't know what is the best if I want my Presentation/Client Application will run within browser (not standard html, using like windows gui). What should I do to make business logic objects, how to invoke it within the gui. how to make installation package whenever clients connect to the http server.
if you have a pointer to do it please let me know.... I'm very appreciate all your response...
    Best regards,
    Lucky Pangemanan

I'd say - don't get carried away with the heavyweight frameworks. Don't use EJB if Hibernate and/or Tomcat will do the job. There's a danger of winding up using a bulldozer to crack a wallnut.
What people mean by "J2EE" varies a fair bit.
Start with Tomcat, which has the virtue of being free. Try some JSPs and servlets.
Use Applets to do client side presentation only if you must; Applets create an installation overhead on end-users, and some of them can't cope, while others may not have the necessary installation permissions on their office machines. They are pretty rarely needed, IMNSHO, most client-side behaviour is better handled with html and JavaScript.

  • Help Please. OS 10.5, Safari 5.0.6, Flash and Java

    Hi.
I am very frustrated right now.  A few days ago, I upgraded my MacPro to OS 10.5 .  Everything seemed to be working fine until all of a sudden a fe days ago.
Now Flash and Java don't work.
I get an error message saying missing plug-in.  So I went to the adobe page to download the latest version.  The only thing that would happen on that page is the banner in the middle frame disappeared and nothing would download using Safari.  I opened Firefox and it was able to download it.  I  ran the uninstaller, then installed the newests version, 10.??? (Newest on allowed on my computer)
I rebooted the computer to be safe and opened Safari and still no flash, same message.  It works fine in Firefox and Seamonkey, just not safari.  I checked for  plug-ins and it doesn't show up.   It IS in the OS preference, but there is nothing I can see to do.
Flash makes way to many things work to just ignore it.  Please help.
I have repeated this step more than once to no avail.
Secondly, Java.  Java is not installed anymore.  It WAS and I was having a problem with the window opening and staying open.  I adjusted a setting not to open the window, then it stopped completely.   I backtracked and undid the do not open window and still doesn't work.
I found a Java testing page and this is what I was given - "The page “Java Tester - Is Java Enabled?” attempted to load Java content, but Java is unavailable or not installed."
I am now downloading Java again from the apple page, 1.6.0_33.  However, one poster said not to use it at all.  It's difficult to do many things with no Java at all.
    Please advise.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Now, follow my standard upgrading advice:
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall or reset anything. See these for details:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106941
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/installswupdates.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/backuprecovery.html
If you only have a Time Machine backup, ensure that you can reliably restore it to another disk/volume/partition before updating/upgrading.

  • JRE 6 freeze browsers and Java Control Panel Applet stops working!

    Hello,
this is the second time I got this problem with Java JRE 6 ! First one was a month or two ago:
I have Java JRE 6 update 20 installed on a Windows 7 64bit ultimate. It was working...much time ago...then i found my browser (firefox, google chrome or IE8) was freezing when I open java application or test pages. I tried uninstalling it, cleaning the system with Revo Uninstaller, or CCleaner or JavaRA and reinstalling with no luck. The other problem is the same that user Mass8 had (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5372196&start=15&tstart=0)
...my java control panel applet is not working and give me this:
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/df9b61008b5bf9de61a13d8bfa3ddad1.jpg
I tried disabling UAC, running JRE, starting Win7 in safe mode with network...but browser always freeze. It's not a true freeze, with CPU busy at 100% (cpu stays in idle) but it seems to wait for something. It's not a problem with video card driver on my machine, because I can start java control panel from command prompt...and without the noddraw switch, using this command:
    javaw -Xbootclasspath/a:..\lib\deploy.jar -Duser.home="%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel
This was the description of my first time.....then I replaced my system with an Acronis image...and I used the system for sometimes....and Java was working until 3-4 days ago! So I did another image of the system with all things working.
Then this morning...I tried the java test page.....and surprise! It's not working anymore!
In these days I think I only disabled UAC and Account virtualization....maybe JAVA saves things there...and then when I disabled UAC (Windows7 deleted those folders and files) it can't find there anymore???? Who can help me?
I don't want to restore my image every month!
My system is 100% virus free and from the last image restoration I didn't visit suspicious sites and so on....I have antivirus and antispyware software...all is perfectly CLEAN. Any ideas or things to try?

I'm beginning to think it's something related to Hybernation after using JAVA....I'm using it very often...and if I use it...and I suspect Java is KO...i try control panel and it doesn't works....then I try with browser and it freeze (or keep waiting...and i can only force to close it)
    THEN,
when I reboot my system I get this window
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/09501eb799c165bb25ece8fd3261e41c.jpg
suggesting me to rename the folder C:\Program in C:\Program1 ...and if i don't rename it...java will never work...instead if I allow it...Windows will fix it!......This until...the next hybernation....:(....
try to replicate this...maybe I found where is the problem..

  • Short dump Error during VM container communication between ABAP and JAVA.

    Hello All,
Can anybody please help with resolving the following issue:
Short dump is displayed, when I try to insert CRM product (type: material) in the document (opportunity). This CRM product was created in CRM directly.
