MiniSAP-WAS 6.4

Hello all,
I'm planning to install a minisap.
I've found out that there is a minisap 6.20 and a sneak preview sap netwear 04.
The question are:
Is sneak preview sap netwear 04 also a minisap system? Is its 180 days license renewall for equal periods?
Which book would you recommend as a first approach to BSP programming?

Go ahead and install Netweaver '04 preview. It is similar to miniSAP. Not sure about the license renewal though.
So far there is no good book on BSP. But there is a new book coming up from SAP Press by Brian McKellar and Thomas Jung. There are big expectations from this book.

Hello all!
I have some problems with the MiniSAP installation under
SUSE Linux 9.0.
I use the MiniSAP WAS 6.10, SAP DB 7.3 and the SAP Gui for the JE 6.10.
The Problem comes with the Java 1.4.1. In the documentation from the SAP CDs is the version IBMJava2-JRE-1.3-45 required.
If I try to run the SapGui i get many errors from Java (I think).
Anybody has a idea ?

Hi,
Check the following steps:
1 : Check whether the loopback adapter is installed correctly and the ip is assigned properly.
2 : Check whether your hostname or the computer name is less then 13 characters.
3 : If you are installing the MINI SAP second time, after a failed first attempt then be sure to clear the registry entries of previous installation.
4 : Check the partition where you are installing mini sap is more then 22 gb.
If this information doesn't help you then provide the proper error code which you are getting while installtion, then we will be able to give you appropriate solution/suggestion.

MiniSAP WAS 620 installation problem

Dear WAS developers,
I got 3 CD's from SAP Press to install WAS620. I'm trying to Install on Window XP Home(SP1). During installation it ask for inserting Kernel Cd first,then Data1 CD, then Data2 CD. Then again it ask for inserting Kernel CD. When I install Kernel Cd I'm getting the following error Log.

If you are re-installing the WAS, Please stop all SAPDB related services in your computer and restart the installation.

Whenever I go start RZ20 I get no Monitoring elements.
(I get the message that R/3 system is not configured)
How can I enable this functionality?

MiniSap WAS 6.40 - Services Setup

After using the transation SICK i've activated all the services in the instance profile NSP_DVEBMGS00_01P as follow:
rdisp/wp_no_dia = 2
rdisp/wp_no_btc = 1
rdisp/wp_no_vb = 1
rdisp/wp_no_vb2 = 1
rdisp/wp_no_enq = 1
rdisp/wp_no_spo = 1
However this requests a lot of memory resources.
I wonder if anyone could let me know which are of these services are mandatory.

The only 2 that are required on any SAP CI instance are
rdisp/wp_no_dia = 2
rdisp/wp_no_vb = 1
rdisp/wp_no_enq = 1
all others are optional depending on the use of the instance.

What version of miniSAP WAS

Hi,
Could anyone please tell if there is a significant difference between versions 6.1 and 6.2 ? I would like to start install as soon as possible,waiting for the 6.2 from SAP is the lesser preferred option . I am not looking into 6.4 (avaialble at SDN )right now because of memory constraints on my machine.
I am looking at this from an ABAPper's view, I already have a mini 46D on the same machine.Please advise.

I wouldn't bother with either 6.10 or 6.20. They are pretty close. Go with 6.40, that way you get it all.

whats all about MiniSAP 4.6 d ? whast the difference between MiniSAP WAS 6.10 and MiniSAP 4.6 d. I have MiniSAP WAS 6.10 but it doesnt have BASIC SAP R/3 modules like FI-CO,MM, SD...
does MiniSAP 4.6 d come with the basic SAP R/3 modules like FI-CO,MM, SD etc.. ?
Any info posted in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

I have got mini sap 6.10 in my machine. it doesnt have the basic r3 modules. its designed only for WAS features.
it has got a data and kernel CD with that. is it the same with mini sap 4.6 d too ? any idea ?
My big Question is, if I install mini sap 4.6 d on my machine after uninstalling mini sap 6.10 , do I still get the basic r3 modules installed on my machine

JCO with miniSAP???

Hi!
Has anybody tried to use jCO with miniSAP? Or shortly, is it possible?
I've done all what is said. I was able to compile the first of example codes came in the package but when I tried to execute it, the error "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Example1" emerged.
I have only changed the user info to open the connection in the original code and so I am sure that the only public class name in the code is "Example1".

I'm just accessing it on my local pc. No plans of opening up the port in my router for the apache server. Anyway here is the code for my servlet.

I have another question for the host name. I assume that I could use a IP address for there one? If not I also tried to define a name in the hosts file on windows xp.

For apply a note 852688 for the minisap WAS ABAP 6.40, I need change a object repository , I inserted the number 29671482393151224771 but This message is displayed "Incorrect Enter" .This number 29671482393151224771 appears in the page "Licensing Procedure for the Mini SAP System". Somebody can tell me what is the number in the WAS 6.40 ABAP for change a object repository?

29671482393151224771 is a developer key which is to be used with the sneak preview or minisap. It is not an object registration key. In other to obtain object registration key, you need to go to service.sap.com and register the object. They will then give you a key, you enter this key as the access key in the dialog when trying to change a standard object.
I'm not sure if you can do this for NSP systems or not.

to to service.sap.com, click SAP support portal, enter your "S" number and password, click Keys & Requests, click SSCR keys, click registration, click register object radiobutton, click your installation number, enter the data.</b>

TAW10 - BC400 - SAPBC400WBT_GETTING_STARTED

Hi guys,
I just started learning ABAP and I was advised that BC400 would be a good start. Luckily I could get my hands on The Official ABAP Reference which had a 30 day MiniSAP 6.2 License.
After reading and solving the exercises in Taw10 I got to a point where I don't really know how to find the program I need. In ABAP Dictionary Exercises(Taw10 pg. 157) the first exercises is:
Open the object list for development class BC400. Find the program
SAPBC400WBT_GETTING_STARTED, and open its object list. Throughout the
exercise, make sure that you remain in display mode.
Now I managed to find BC400 package(I think): SE80 -> Application Hierarchy -> Packages -> Basis Components -> Abap Workbench -> /SAPTRAIN/BC400, but when I try to see the contents of this package there is nothing inside. I tried everything I could think of but I cannot see the contents of the package(That is if the package has anything inside).
Can anyone give me a hint about how should I proceed with this? How can I find SAPBC400WBT_GETTING_STARTED? Is /SAPTRAIN/BC400 the package I'm looking for?

Yes, I have tried browsing for the program but I couldn't find it. At a first glance the /SAPTRAIN/BC400 is empty.
I tried looking for the program using: SE80 -> Program(in Application Hierarchy) -> and then make a "SAPBC*" selection. The results returned don't contain SAPBC400WBT_GETTING_STARTED. Screenshot: [program search|http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/3468/pic1aei.jpg]
After that I tried browsing the package using: SE80 -> Application Hierarchy -> Packages -> Basis Components -> Abap Workbench -> /SAPTRAIN/BC400. After I found /SAPTRAIN/BC400 package I've selected Display -> Object List and nothing is displayed. WAS, IDES, MiniSAP

Can somebody please explain me the differences among these 3 installations:
WAS 6.2
IDES 4.7
MiniSAP
I only asked because SAP sent us a copy of IDES and I saw free copies of WAS 6.2 and MiniSAP included on some SAP books.
We would like to install the best and latest prototype for an upgrade evaluation (to 4.7) for our budget approval and we don't know which is the best/appropriate among these 3.

The best would be IDES 4.7 which includes WAS 6.2.WAS 6.2 is an application server with ABAP part.Minisap is training version of the same.IDES is also given for training purpose but it contains all data of a model company IDES and it has WAS 6.2 also.

If you have installed the Preview edition of MiniWAS 6.20 or one of the 640 versions then you have the WAS system?

yes im insstalling with Admin user. file sharering is off. and im installing this bcoz ihave the setupof this & i already installed this on my laptop 15 days back but bcoz of virus i formatted and now i m stucked here for last 3-4 days.
