Minor bug CS5 save to LR3?

When I save an image I edited in CS5 from LR3 back into LR, the changes showed in the filmstrip at the bottom but not in the grid mode above until I selected the image in the filmstrip. Then the changes showed above and all was well. Another issue along the same lines, though probably well known to many of you, if you edit an image in PS from a collection and save the changes, they do not appear in the collection they came from. They do appear under the appropriate keyword and can be dragged back to the collection. Is this new for LR3 or a carryover from LR2? Imac 24, Snow Leopard

I have not tried highlighting the item in the filmstrip (thanks for the tip), but experience the same issue with CS5 edits not showing in the LR3 grid.  This is on a Win XP/SP3 machine.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Bug: Navigation: Save As Dialog Boxes in Windows (thus any application) goes to Computer Drive C - instead of Quick Access

Bug: Navigation: Save As Dialog Boxes in Windows (thus any application) still have its legacy behavior implemented and navigates to a computer drive, by preselecting and letting the user start at Computer > Drive C - instead of Quick Access.
This is simply a forgotten correction after Quick Access has been introduced that needs to be corrected for Quick Access to work effectively (in a valuable way for the user) with files not just during create and modify operations on files - but also Open
file - using File Dialog Boxes (although users may use launch instead for Opening files using i.e. Explorer or navigation from shortcuts on the desktop).
This missing change of File Dialog Box behavior is unintended and now contradicts the new design with Quick Access for faster navigation (so you should not have to start with a scroll and extra navigation to look for Quick Access (contradiction:
    i.e. QUICK Access)
Please support the new navigation provided by Quick Access intended to give Quick Access - thus Save As must be able to start here.
For variability, may be provide an overriding option in Explorer>Folder Options>General (if you change the default behaviour in the File Dialogue) to have Save As start at Computer > Drive C.
! Remember to do the change for the Common File Dialog as well - used by most widespread software applications in the Adobe software applications portfolio, i.e. Adobe Photoshop CS6

Thank you for your time and response! Unfortunately, we have the machine locked down pretty tight (they are public use computers that require heavy restriction) and it is set to restrict all drives so access is limited to the local profile. We did try
testing your method, however, by adding the Desktop as an allowed location in the Office policy (which would not solve the issue for the other applications but was good for a test) using the path %userprofile%\desktop. When choosing that location, it does
not throw the error but unfortunately, it does not remember like it did for your with the E: drive so it still always throws the error when first loading the dialogue box no matter what I do. If you're able to confirm that this is simply by design and we're
just expected to inform our users to click through the errors, then I guess that's the accepted answer. Although, do you think that there might be a registry key value that is set after you save to the E: drive for the first time? Maybe we could set that value
to %userprofile%\desktop if it's doing the redirection after the first save through registry. Thanks again!

  • Cluster VI Reference Minor Bug

Over on LAVA PJM_labview posted a video of a bug found in LabVIEW 2013 SP1.  It is a minor bug with the block diagram when showing a cluster constant with a VI reference constant in it.  Here is the video of how to reproduce the bug.

I played with this and filed it as a CAR (#479432). Intriguingly, there are a couple workarounds:
    Option 1
    On block diagram:
    1. Create cluster constant containing refnum with auto-sizing set as arranged (vertical or horizontal)
    2. Create typedef
    3. Unlink from type def
    4. Change auto-sizing to desired value
    5. Recreate typedef
    Option 2
    On front panel:
    1. Create cluster containing refnum control
    2. Create typedef
    On block diagram:
    3. Create constant from cluster typedef on block diagram.
    4. Unlink constant from typedef, change auto-sizing as desired, recreate typedef

  • PhotoShop CS5 - Save As Won't Window

I am on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1 and running PS CS5 12.0.4. When saving a file using 'Save As' I can no longer "window" the screen image, it always opens "full-screen" and can't be resized. I can see the hash-marks in the lower right-hand corner, but they disappear after trying to resize the window.
Double-click the picture to see full size:
Both Illustrator CS5 and InDesign CS5 'Save As' dialogue windows can be resized, it's just happening with PS CS5. I tried opening PS with CTRL+ALT+Shift to reset the preferences file, but it didn't fix the problem.

When saving a file using 'Save As' I can no longer "window" the screen image, it always opens "full-screen" and can't be resized.
Does that mean that it did work, but now does not?
If it used to work, then something has changed. The trick is to find out what it was.
First thing that I check, whenever I have a GUI display issue, is whether there is an update for my video adapter's driver. PS interfaces more closely with the video driver, than some other programs. Simple things, such as OS updates, can render a video driver obsolete, and can cause all sorts of issues. What make/model card do you have? What is the number/date of your installed video driver?
Hope that it is as simple as going to the ATI/AMD, or nVidia Web site, and downloading, then installing a new driver.
    Good luck,

  • Minor bug in BindingContext

    To whom it may concern,
I found the following minor bug in the BindingContext class: keysIterator() behaves like veluesIterator().
I don't think this affects the framework right now, but here I post it.
    Product: JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 (Build 1605)
    Class: oracle.adf.model.BindingContext.java
    Code affected:
    * Returns a thread safe values iterator.
    public Iterator valuesIterator()
    HashMap copy = (HashMap)mContextMap.clone();
    return copy.values().iterator();
    * Returns a thread safe keys iterator.
    public Iterator keysIterator()
    HashMap copy = (HashMap)mContextMap.clone();
    return copy.values().iterator(); /* <-- This should be "copy.keySet().iterator();" instead. */
    Hope it helps,
    Lluís.

Thanks for pointing this out. This will be fixed in the next release.

  • Double menu's in photoshop CS5 save as menu

    Hi,
my photoshop CS5 save dialog menu shows double ups of some of the file formats.
    2 BMP's, 2 compuserve gif's, 2 PNG's.
I have torn my hair out going through the Photoshop CS5 folder, but cant find the plug-ins any where.
can anyone give me a clue as to where they are hiding so I can get rid of them.
    regards, Sandy

    Hi, yes sounds right EXCPEPT...
have vetted ALL my photoshop plug-ins, nothing there.
external plug-in folder , been though that. only my Nik plug-in & filters there, and nothing hidden in them...
have used 'find file' program (that will look everywhere even in system files, found nothing.
there are two folders in ~library-application support-adobe-
that are for CS3 and CS4, un installed from my hard disk now I use CS5, but no plug-ins in there that could do that there either.
(wonder if I should delete these folders.??)
have also used 'file buddy' to look for any duplicates... nothing found (except a lot of image files)
so back to square one.. the enigma/puzzle continues...
    appreciate your thoughs and help.
by the way, I have never ever been able to find where the Targa plug in is either to get rid of it, as I dont use that and would like to shorten the menu.
no luck in searching for that, which makes me think that adobe have either made them 'invisible' in a folder, or built all into an unknown file/plug-in.?!?!?
    regards

  • Can Premiere Pro CS5 save in format readable in 32-bit CS4?

I work on machines in various locations and laboratories and carry all of my output around in a portable HD.  Some of the systems I work with have CS5, and some have CS4.  Is there any way to have Premiere-Pro CS5 save a .prproj file in a format that can later be edited in CS4?

  • Was CS5 save-as action truncating filename bug fixed in CS6?

I've run into the Photoshop CS5 bug whereby an action with save-as truncates the filename (and adds " copy").  Can someone confirm for me whether this was fixed in CS6?
For the original bug, see for example:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3807341
    Thanks,
    John

    Old thread, I know.
The reason I advised you to see for yourself is that I have no idea what issue or "bug" you were attempting to describe, as I have never, ever experienced any "truncated file names" myself; I'm very careful with file naming.  That's what the trial versions are there for, so you can make sure the new application works as you expect it to or not.

  • CS5 save for web bug with slices 1 png, the rest gif

Do me good forum, this is my first post from 112 degree AZ.
I'm trying to "save for web" slices in illustrator cs5. I optimize the images to transparent .png in the sidebar in the save for web dialog box. Then I click save. And I do the "user slices" option in the NEXT dialog (hello complicated process, but it makes sense to me). 5 slices should be output. 5 are. But only one is a png. The rest are gif files. And not transparent.
That makes me to throw an anvil through the floor of the USS(R) Adobe.
But rather than going through such extreme measures, I'd figure I'd post first.
I guess in the time I researched and wrote this post, I could have saved each individual slice with the proper optimization settings, but what fun would that be? And maybe I'm just plain missing somthing and someone will say, hey "footheadleg" your a total moron. The checkbox to save ALL the slices for your desired setting is at blah blah blah.
Do it. Shame me. And then, my problem will be fixed at last. MUwhwhwhwahahahaa.
FREE GIFT: cmd+shift+d changes illustrators white artboard to transparent pixels. I learned that becasue I thought maybe I had a white layer showing on accident. I didn't. That's because I'm perfect. Perfectly human.

Footheadleg, you have so much to learn, and so little time. Let me teach you my ways. Though while on Illustrator's main canvas it may seem that you can change settings of each slice, you can't. I know, there are little icons top left of each image, one looks like an email symbol, and it would seem you could just email the slice to a friend.
Pretty soon you'll be able to "Like" the slice on Facebook. Or post it to your del.i.cious account. Or tweet it. Or 17,000 other VERY VALUABLE shares. But Footheadleg, these symbols mean nothing to you, except that they are slices.
HOWEVER, when in "save for web" mode, you can in fact change the settings of each slice. Here's what you do. Press k. (slice tool selector thingie) then hop over to the sidebar and click on the settings you want. Do this for EACH slice. I know, it would seem easier if there was a checkbox that said "apply to all slices," but why make things easy?
Plus, Illustrator is a rad program, so don't knock it, unless you can design something better. And you can't. So get over yourself and enjoy the pain
    Yours truly,
    Yourself.

  • Minor bug: pop-up menu under "Auto-save drafts"

Here's a fun bug for your web developers to fix:
If you go to your own profile page on the discussion forums, you will see a list of autosaved draft messages.  This list of messages is right-justified in your web browser.  So it always appears on the far right.  So when you click on an item in the list, the pop-up menu goes off screen.  You can't easily click on anything in the submenu without some clever scrolling in your browser.  Kind of annoying.
This is happening on my IE 8 on Win7 x64.

I have seen the same behavior:

  • CS5 not updating LR3 Catalog properly on return

    Hi,
I'm going crazy with what looks like a bug in the SW - but may be operator error.
Starting in LR3 Grid view that is filtered on a keyword, I select a JPG.   I want to create a PSD copy that has a text layer and have the PSD staked on top of the JPG in LR when I return from CS5.  I had been doing this in LR2 and CS3 but it does not seem to wrok the same with LR3 and CS5.  I can't recall exactly how I got this to work in LR2 & CS3 but I belive my steps were similar to the following.  The main difference is that in LR2/CS3 it worked and in LR3/CS5 I have the problem indicated below.
    Here are my steps...
    1)  I right click on a JPG image (in the LR3 grid showing images filtered on a keyword) and select edit in Photoshop CS5.  I then select "Edit a copy" from the popup (I've also tried "Edit a cooy with LR adjustments")
    2)  This creates a 2nd jpg file with "edit" in the file name on my hard drive and opens the image in CS5
    3)  I add a Text layer to the photo.
    3)  I then close the image in CS5 and it asks if I want to update it and I say Yes
    4)  I then get the "Save As" dialog and save the image as a PSD which saves a 3rd image on my HD as a PSD (does not have "edit" in file name)
    5)  I then go back to LR and I see in the filtered grid that I now have my original jpg, and an "edit" jpg, marked as 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 - but no PSD
    6)  However, if I unfilter the grid, I see all 3 images,  the original jpg (3 of 3),  the "edit" jpg (2 of 3), and an a psd (1 of 3)
    7)  Now, here's what's driving me crazy....  All 3 images have the exact Metadata, including the exact same keywords which means that all 3 should have been visible in the filtered view.
    8)  OK,  so I now refilter the grid on the keyword that all 3 images in that stack have but only the 2 jpg's show up.  This is crazy.  All 3 should be visible.
    9)  So, I go back and unfilter the grid again, revealing the PSD along with the two jpg's.
    10)  Now, I remove the keyword from the PSD (uncheck it in the keyword list),  then add the same keyword back (check it in the keyword list), and again filter by that keyword
    11)  Now I have all three images visible with the PSD on the top of the stack.
Q1 - Why did I have to remove and re-add the keyword to get the PSD to show up in the filtered view?  Is this a bug?
Q2 - Is there a better way to go to CS5 and create a PSD hopefully without having a 2nd JPG created as well?
Q3 -  Is there a way to add a text overlay in LR3 directly to the jpg without having to go to CS5 at all?
    Appreciate any help anyone has.
                       Thanks -- Dan

Thanks, but I guess PSE works differently.
I don't get a place to specify TIFF or PSD format when the image is passed to PS
Here is also some new info.
I applied all the latest "updates" to the LR3 and CS5  SW and now the symptoms are different.
    1)  When I "edit in CS5"  I no longer get a jpg created on my HD
    2)  When I "close" the image in CS5,  it asks me if I want to save it.  I say "yes" and it gives me the "Save As" dialog with PSD preloaded in the file type, the original folder preloaded in the location, and the file name is preloaded with the original name pluse "edit".
    3)  After saving, I flip back to LR and my filtered grid and here is what I find.
    a)  There is no image selected in the grid.  In other words the original jpg file is no longer selected (highlighted) and no other image in the grid is either
    b)  All the info in the right panel seems to be for the psd.  For example, the File Type says "Photoshop Document" and the Metadata Date is seconds ago.
    c)  All the keywords, rating stars, labels, title, caption, etc are present as well and the same as the jpg which is what I would expect.  This indicates that the LR catalog has been updated.
    4)  Unfiltering the grid makes the PSD visible and it is 1 of 2 with the jpg being 2 of 2 which is correct.
    5)  Both images have exactly the same keywords as evidenced by no "*"s in the Keywording section, and all the other keywords having a check mark (when both images selected) rather than a dash.
    6)  Even after synchronizing the psd metadata from the jpg metadata, re-applying the grid filter which happened to be in effect when I went I sent the jpg to CS5, still does not show the PSD file in the grid.
    7)  Howevr, filtering the grid by a different keyword that both images have in common does show the psd in the grid.
    8)  The only way (so far) that I have been able to get the psd to show up in the grid when the grid if filtered by the orignal keyword is to unfilter the grid, then uncheck that keywork in the keyword list, then re-check it.  After doing that it now appears in the grid when filtered by that keyword.
It seems that the logic that decides which images to show in the grid based on the filters is ignoring the keyword that the grid was filteredby when the image was sent to and returned from CS5 - but is only ignored for the returned psd image.
I'm pretty sure this is a bug.  Does anyone know how to report a bug to Adobe?
    Thanks -- Dan

  • Bug in Print Module, LR3.6, custom package

    Hi everybody,
After two days of unequal fight with Print Module bug I hope I finally pinned it down.
    Hope it saves someone time
I have my photos usually cropped in DSLR format (2:3)
Printing I use often two popular formats 13x18cm and 15x21cm that are close to 5:7 (first one is 5x7in)
Initially I was using virtual copies and had them cropped to 5:7 format.
However this makes a little mess in my workflow and it's time consuming.
What I found was Custom Package in Print Module.
Having cell with target size I drag desired photo into the cell and using cmd-key drag this foto to have proper look as the width target format is smaller. So far so good, but ...
From time to time printed photo looked totally different from what I saw on-screen.
First of all there are couple threads about that problem. I visited them but they remain unanswered
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3344521
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3278739
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/697107
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3885690
There are visual samples there of what happens.
Photos in JPG file that was created from LR look differently than in LR. Photos in file are bigger or/and wrong positioned within the cell
What I managed to find is:
Everything goes fine until photo is rotated by 'Rotate to Fit' function. It happens in my case only with photos that have the same orientation that template.
    Example:
Template is set on A4 borderless format set to portait (Page Setup... button).
Two cells 14,85cm height x 21cm width (A5 format). First one over second and both in landcape position.
When I drag photo cropped in Landscape orientation such a photo is rendered properly.
When I drag photo cropped in Portrait orientation it's atutomatically rotated 90 degrees (couterclockwise) by "Rotate to Fit option" and that is when **** happens.
Final print (to file or printer) shows that user dragging is omitted in render. What's more if "Photo border" is set to on, photo in this cell is not reduced. Instead of this (as far as I can see) photo border just crop some part of picture.
If I switch orientation of the A4 page from portrait to lansdcape, magically photos that are cropped in portrait orientation start to render good (they are not rotated now) while those in landscape start to render wrong.
This looks 99% as software bug.
    I'm using LR3.6 on mac osx 10.6.8
I'd like someone to follow it and to check if the same happens on different Mac or Windows.
    Cheers
    Robert

    Confirmed in LR 5.3, OS X 10.9.1.
Screen display is fine, user repositioning is ignored when printing if page is in landscape mode and the image is rotated 90° (Rotate to Fit on). A4, Epson printer. Bug also appears in PDFs generated via the "Printer…" button. I didn't check JPEG export.
