Minor Softwarebug iOS 4.2.1 / iTunes 10 (10.1.0.56)

Hello,
I found a minor Softwarebug in the iOS 4.2.1 /iTunes 10:
(I am using iPhone 4, iTunes and Windows 7)
Whenever i syncronise music on to my iPhone and this process takes very long, because e.g. i convert media in to 128 bit/sec AAC files this two BUGS happen:
1.
If an incoming call or other event aborts the syncronising process (all processes but the alarmclock), there (after resuming the syncronise process and finisching it) are several files missing! Alltough iTunes confirms me that my media is fully syncronised there are still files corrupted or missing!
2.
It could happen that the syncroniseprocess takes very long (e.g. if you convert music files to AAC 128bit/sec ) and it takes so long, that in the next morning your alarmclock rings.
This is not the problem, this is actually good, BUT you can NOT switch off the alarmclock.
When the alarmclock rings, a notification is printed on the screen and in the back the syncronising is still on.
On this notification you only may press and confirm the alarm by the snooze butten, so that the alarm rings again after some time.
In this case i must say that my iPhone4 is protected by a code password to avoid unautorised views. But i dont think that one has to enter the code to switch the alarm completly off.
Please try to solve this Problem in the next update!
sincerly yours
Happy Iphone User
-I have also posted this problem in the iPhone Topic section-

I fired up my G5 MacPro and was able to update the phone, I was also then able to determine the download location for iTunes iPhone updates which is
~/Library/iTunes
When I saw that I also noted that the permissions on that directory was Read/Write for System only, I added Read/Write permissions for Staff and then the download was able to happen.
Apple needs to amend the Repair Permissions programme in Disk Utility to ensure that the above directory ( ~/Library/iTunes ) is Read/Write for Staff or users won't be able to carry out iPhone updates.
I haven't had a chance to try the new printing features, however, my Bluetooth headset performance is dramatically improved with the iOS 4.2.1 update.

  • Remote app no longer working after upgrade to iOS 4.3 and iTunes 10.2.1 (1)

I am unable to use my Remote app 2.1.1 with my iTunes 10.2.1.
I recently updated all software/firmware as follows:
    1st Gen iPad - iOS 4.3 (8F190)
    iTunes - 10.2.1 (1)
    Remote - 2.1.1
I am using an iMac circa 2005 (6.1)
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
2.33 Ghz Intel Core Duo; 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Wirless Router: Netgear WNDR3400, SSIDs off, WMM enabled.
I have turned on Home Sharing on both iTunes and the Remote app.
I have made sure that both iMac and iPad are on same network.
I have made sure that iTunes is allowing incoming connections through the firewall settings in system preferences.
I have deleted and reinstalled both iTunes on the iMac and Remote app on the iPad.
I have trashed the preferences for iTunes.
I have gone to Settings on the iPad and turned on Home Sharing through the iPod app.
I no longer see "Automatically search for iPods, iPhones, or iPads" in the iTunes preferences...ANYWHERE.
    I have reset the router.
    I have reinstalled iTunes 10.1.1 - didn't work, re-updated to 10.2.1
Installed Mac OS X 10.6.7 combo update.
    Nothing seems to work.
iTunes does not show my iPad when the Remote app is launched and gives me the 4 digit code to type in to pair it.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Any solutions?
    Thank you,

  • Every time I try and update my iphone 4 to ios 7.1 in iTunes 11.1.5 it says "connection reset" even when there is no problem with my connection

I have an iPhone 4. I use iTunes 11.1.5 on my Mac. I am trying to update to ios 7.1 through iTunes, but every time I do that, I get a "connection reset" error, even when I know there has been no problem with my connection.
The exact error message is as follows:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Anne's iPhone". The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
I have checked several times. There is no problem with the connection, and I have tried to download the software several times today.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Just managed to successfully download the update, having retried five or six times. I did unplug my phone while the download was taking place (had asked iTunes to download only, not to update) -- suspect this had no bearing on it whatsoever, and that persistence is the only way here.

My iPhone 5s on ios 8.1.2 is stuck at Apple logo or recovery mode.. To fix this issue, i need to update it to ios 8.2 through itunes.. I want to ask that my data i.e. Photos and other personal data would be removed after updating it or not..?
if yes then how can i save my data or get out of recovery mode.. Is there any safe mode or something like that on which i could access my data..
P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..
Please help me sort out this issue..

Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.
    Hope that helps!

Tap Settings > General > Date and Time > Set Automatically > Off. Set the date one year ahead. Then try to access the App Store.
It may be a connection issue. Try changing your DNS settings to Google’s open DNS by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi >, tap the blue arrow next to your current Wi-Fi network, and then tap the “DNS” field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8 (Google’s Public DNS, 8.8.4.4 also alternate).

  • Does iOS 5.1 and iTunes 10.6 solve changing artwork?

I subscribed to iTunes Match when it first came out and quickly un-synced it (or whatever the proper verbage is) because it messed up my artwork.  I have many songs (both songs purcahsed from iTunes and songs ripped from CDs) where I changed the album cover from "Greatest Hits whatever whatever" to the original album artwork from its original album.  iTunes Match "helpfully" changed these album's artwork to whatever artwork is associated with original purhcase, or with the iTunes album and it took me awhile to change things back to the way I wanted them (and I unchecked the itunes match box)
    My question(s):
-Did anyone ever find a good fix for this?  I've perused the forums and can't find much discussion on my specific desire (wanting my assigned artwork to "override" what iTunes Match wants to do).
-Has this problem gone away since yesterday's introduction of new iOS and iTunes versions?
    Thanks!

I am having a similar issue. Updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 5.1 and iTunes to 10.6 and now iTunes won't recognize either. iPhoto sees them just fine and the system profiler sees them connected via USB as well.

  • Why my ipad doesn't sync wi-fi since I upgraded to iOS 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.0.40?

why my ipad doesn't sync wi-fi since I upgraded to iOS 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.0.40? I have a pc running windows 7 and my Bonjour service is started. I use the Remote app (airplay) normally but the ipad doesn't appear listed in iTunes to sync wi-fi.

Is your iPad recognized by iTunes when connected to your computer via USB?
If so, does Sync with this iPad over Wi-Fi remain selected under the Summary tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes?

  • Unable to update iPhone 4, iOS 4.2.1, iTunes 10.1 (54), Mac OS 10.6.5

iTunes notifies me that iOS 4.2 update is available for my iPhone 4.
    I'm on my MacBook Pro, with iPhone 4, iOS 4.1 (8B117), iTunes 10.1 (54), Mac OS 10.6.5.
I select either 'download' or 'download and update' and get the following error message:
*There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "_ iPhone". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.*
I have run *repair permissions*, rebooted the computer multiple times. I have 22Mbit Internet with a 120GB download limit with 90GB remaining.
Does anyone know what causes this arcane error? Surely the error indicates that there is a directory, most likely in ~/Library or /Library that has incorrect permissions, obviously +repair permissions+ hasn't fixed it. Does anyone know where iTunes stores its downloaded updates?

I fired up my G5 MacPro and was able to update the phone, I was also then able to determine the download location for iTunes iPhone updates which is
    ~/Library/iTunes

  • How can iTune-synched photos be deleted from iOS devices if the iTunes computer is no longer available?

How can iTunes-synched photos be deleted from iOS devices if the iTunes computer is no longer available?
This can happen because the iOS device is on travels distant from the iTunes computer, because the iTunes computer is on travels distant from the iOS device, because the iTunes computer has failed permanently, because the iTunes computer has been stolen, etc.

    KRDHarris-
The only possibility I can think of, is to consult with an Apple Store Genius.  See if there is some kind of Apple proprietary software or diagnostic tool that can do it.
I do not think you want to, but you could go to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings.  If you decided to do that, you might be able to restore from a previous backup when you get home.

When I'm restore my iphone 4 ios 6.1.3 itunes showed an error you iphone can not be restore at this time because the software update server is not contacted or temporary unavailable.
