Minor yet annoying iTunes 7 install issues

Has this happened to anyone else, or is this just an issue for me? iTunes 7 itself... works great, no complaints.... the only issue i got is the icons on the desktop, in the start menu, and in the actual program folders are windows "default image" pics..... is there a fix or is this a bug i missed in another topic?

happened to at least one other person i've seen. still no definitive word on a cause, though.
my current theory is that the registry keys for the new icons didn't write properly during the install. (when i've watched previous itunes installs, the icons show up in two stages ... first the Windows defaults you see, then the proper icons.)
working on that theory, we might be able to get those icons to go in properly if we do a repair install of itunes.
reboot the PC. go into Add/Remove programs. select itunes, and click "change". select "repair".
do the new icons show up after the repair install? (they're kind of bluish rather than green.)

  • Windows xp itunes install issue

I am attempting to install Itunes using Windows XP at Service Pack 3 with all the security updates installed. The instal begins and during the final process of setup, I receive the following error message and the Itunes instal backs out and stops.
Error message, " These is a problem with this Windows Installer package. Aprogram run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
I am looking for some advice after working on the Apple and Microsoft website's trying to find a solution.

Thank You B Noir for the helping hand in reapiring my problem in loading Itunes.
I ended up working with an Apple Service Tech who had me delete all the programs associated with the Apples Itune install. Quicktime, Apple Application Support, Apple Modile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Software Update.
Each of the programs were un-installed with no issues until we started the uninstall of Apple Software Update, which your note indicated could be a cause for the install issue.
Using the Windows program "Fixit" downloaded off the Microsoft website, we determined that the registry keys for this program had become corrupted. We used Fixit filtering down to an install repair module inside if Fixit to remove the damaged program from my PC's registry then Fixit uninstalled the Apple Software Update program.
Once this was done, we were able to successfully instal Itunes using the latest Itunes install packaged found on the Apple website.
    Thanks Again for your advice.

  • IPhone 5 camera has some minor, yet annoying issues. Help!

Well, to get to the point my back camera has spots on it.. Whenever I try to take a picture there is a violet, purple, dash on it followed by some gray, shadowy circles. I tried to clean the lens and I blew on it a couple of times but it just doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm still under warranty so could they fix or replace this?

I bought it from Amazon from someone who previously owned it and it came with a few light scratches, nothing major. I'm not sure if the previous owners caused this to happen because since I had it I have taken great care of it and just recently I found the spots on the lens. Is there still a possibility they can fix it? Thanks for your help! (:

  • Itunes install issues error 7 - Windows error 193

    Gents,
I am using Windows 7, had iTunes for years no issues I couldn't solve myself, this time I need help.
When the last update of iTunes came on, I tried to update my version but couldn't do the update (I don't remember the error message details, it just said that I had to re-install iTunes).
So I cleared ITunes and all Apple related softwares from my computer (yes in the recommended order, and yes I rebooted in between) tried to re-installed (numerous times) and I always get the same error messageS:
"Couldn't install ITunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)" and also "ITunes helper was not installed correctly"
When running the installer I get the error message "Apple Mobile device failed to start", even if I ignore this message during the install, I am unable to open iTunes once the install is done. (the install goes through and says install finished).
Note: I also tried to "fix" during the install, it didn't work.
    Context / Trials / Notes:
    - I tried to "repair" the Apple Mobile Device in programs (unsuccessfully)
    - I had 2 Apple Mobile Device services, so after a complete un-install and reboot, I manually (command prompt) remove the last service
    - In all my un-install attempts I went on the C: drive and made sure ALL folders were cleared of apple / iTunes traces. Delete ITunes setup file, empty the recycle bin of course, reboot etc)
    - Windows is up-to-date - No viruses (using Malwarebyte/ AVG & Spybot).
I am at a loss, spent a lot of hours on the computer and on forums, but couldn't find the fix.
I would greatly appreciate your help, this is getting on my nerves and I really need to change the music on my iphone ! (lol)
    thank you in advance

If the above hasn't helped then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
Disabling your AV during installation may sometimes help.

  • Windows 8 iTunes Install issue

I keep being told to uninstall then reinstall Itunes.  It says that I need Apple Application Support?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Yet Another iTunes Install Failure

Before you refer me to other topics, please hear me out. I have looked at many of them, and their problems have been solved. Mine? Nope. I just started a topic about my iPod not being recognized by iTunes, but this time I installed AppleMobileDeviceSupport then installed iTunes. This version is different, judging by the install screen. Just like my other computer, the installer finishes and says "The Installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured." I hate this! It happens to me everytime. I tried reinstalling, deleting the installer and re-downloading, using the Windows Program Cleaner software, etc. but same thing.
I'm hoping for a response by the next Super Bowl... XD
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just ready for all these errors to stop happening!

If it makes you feel any better I am having the same exact issues, and I've tried everything I can too. After reading about people's libraries disappearing though, maybe I don't want to upgrade!!!

  • HT203206 iTunes install issue

I had to uninstall iTunes from my computer recently but now I cannot re-install it. I deleted all Apple software from my PC. (I'm running Windows 7) and I downloaded the new version (12.1) and then I select to 'Run as an administrator'. First error that pops up is
"Service Bonjour Service failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I tried the ignore button.
    Next error:
Service Apple Mobile Device service could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services. I tried the ignore and it couldn't install iTunes at all.
I keep on trying, but nothing. I've tried removing all Apple software and then installing three times now - nothing. Now I have no iTunes.
    Can anyone please help.

    try this,
uninstalling all Apple software first ...everything
Then go into the (C:\users\username\appdata\local) and deleted the "apple computer" file.
do the same apple computer file delete in (C:\users\username\appdata\roaming).
App Data isn't seen in most cases when you look in the user file.
If you click twice in the address bar, once you get into the user file,  you can add the (\appdata\local) to the end and do the same adding the (\appdata\roaming)
If one of the files gives you a "can't be deleted" message, go to start menu and type in (task manager) and hit enter.
When task manager comes up select the "processes" tab at the top, find the (APSDaemon.exe) process. Right click on it and select (end task). The apple computer file will then be able to be deleted.
So after trying uninstalling all Apple software and just reinstalling to no avail, uninstalling all apple software and deleting the apple computer files in the appdata then reinstalling ITunes....finally worked for me.
    Thanks,
    Brock

Try unplugging all external devices like your USB and FireWire stuffs, less of course your keyboard, mouse and internet connection. Repair Disk Permission then restart, and try see if you can use Software Update to upgrade your iTunes, after that restart and Repair Permission again
If you can't do SU, download iTunes 7, do the same RDP, then install iTunes

  • Yet another Yosemite install issue

So, I'm trying to upgrade from 10.9.5 on a 27" Mid 2010 iMac. I have downloaded the installer and everything seems to work fine. Until I actually start installing it. During 'Preparing to install" the load bar gets to 'one second left' and just stalls. Over and over again. Under different users. Yep, I've reset the PRAM, repaired permissions and such. Still not working. Any idea?

I use the above Cooler Master PSU, zero issues. Has 4 pci-e connectors, so it's ready for quad sli if I ever want to go that route with my P6n Diamond. Has lots of different connection options, highly rated PSU. Not all Cooler Master PSUs underperform, just have to know what you're buying. The above supply also has 2 8 pin connectors so for instance when my GTX 295 arrives I'll have no trouble (card uses 6/8 pin). Reviews also can be helpful.

  • ITunes install issues (registry settings not installed)

After getting the errors (I think 1290) where it couldn't start the bonjour service I got that fixed. The install went forward and I would see the itunes short cut appear on the desk top. Then it would disappear and so would the folders ipod and itunes from the program files folder. I could watch them appear, once the install finished they would disappear. Finally I looked in services and saw the bonjour servicing was in a stopping state. I tried to look at the properties and recieved this...
"Error 1060: specified service does not exist as an installed service" Clicking ok got me to this error
"Configuration Manager: A required entry in the registry is missing or an attempt to write to the registry failed"
Also, their initial attempts to install iTunes 5 currupted the CD-ROM drives.
*NOTE this is not my computer... stupid winbl... windows As always my iBook works perfectly!
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem, it seems to be the installer is corrupt... also need advice how to fix the cd-rom, the lite-on drivers will not reinstall.

    the_wrench,
I've never seen that error, so why don't we get a log file from the installer and send that to the Apple engineers.
    1. Turning on some advanced logging by creating a new file in your "Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp" folder with the name "QTInstallerLauncher.log". You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find this folder. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.)
    2. Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
    3. In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the Quicktime standalone installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote (").
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
    and a file called:
"Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\QTPluginInstaller_9999.log" (number may differ). You may have multiple files like this..... Send them all, or at least the most recent ones.
Find those files and send them to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.
And it's perfectly reasonable to just have UpperFilters and not LowerFilters, but you need to tell me what's in the UpperFilters.

  • Seemingly simple, yet annoying reg. expression issue

    Hey guys,
Im considerably familiar with the use of regular expressions in Java (and other languages), yet seem to be having a very simple problem.
I wish to match a full stop character occuring after a space in a string, once that space does not occur after a digit.
e.g. "went to the shop . This is another sentence"
The code I'm using is this:
String s = "went to the shop. This is another sentence"
    s = s.replaceAll("([^0-9]+)\\s+\\.","$1.");This doesn't seem to work, neither does:
String s = "went to the shop. This is another sentence"
s = s.replaceAll("(\\D+)\\s+\\.","$1.");It seems that there's a problem with the first + symbol, but I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.
    Any insights?

    SuperGrover wrote:
The problem seems to occur when there's more than one occurance of the space before a fullstop in the string, so the above code doesn't work for the following string:
"went to the shop . This is another sentence . And another"
It only replaces the final occurance, despite using the replaceAll method. When I tested your pattern (using JRET), it matched both occurrences in the sample string!
The matching was done by repeated invocations of the method [Matcher.find|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/util/regex/Matcher.html#find()].
Maybe [String.replaceAll|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#replaceAll(java.lang.String, java.lang.String)] does something different internally?
Anyway, are you aware that your expression always matches the entire string preceding the space and the dot?
This is probably not really what you are looking for. You may want to try this expression instead, which uses negative lookbehind:
    (?<!\d)\s+\.Edited by: McNepp on 20.01.2009 09:47

  • ITunes install issue

    Greetings,
Tried to update to 8.0.2 last night, and my internet connection failed at some point during the installation process. Now, when I try to update, without downloading anything further (since it is already here?), an installation error is reported: "A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
How can I delete whatever has been corrupted in the update process to begin, and finish, now?
    Thank you,
    Jim

I have tried completely cleaning the registry, deleting all associated files and installing the Windows Cleanup utility which can't see Quicktime installed.
    Let's revisit using CleanUp, terps.
Launch CleanUp again (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up). *Don't remove anything at this stage.* We're having a look first.
Up at the top of the list of programs, do you see any entries beginning with (All Users) but lacking a program name, just going on to give a version number in square brackets? If so, what version numbers are being shown? (Best not to include the square brackets or else the forum software autoformats the contents of the square brackets into a hyperlink ... harmless, but disconcerting if you aren't expecting it.
Failing that, are there any line which just have (All Users) but no program name or version number?
Failing that, are there any completely blank lines at the top of the list in CleanUp?

  • IPad and iTunes Capacity Issue/Application Install Issue

I've just spent the past hour trying to figure out why iTunes 10 is reporting I have 17.9GB of video although the iPad itself is saying I have 0 videos.
I am not syncing any music videos, movies, TV shows, Podcasts or content from iTunes U.
The iPad Free Space indicator is reporting I have 8.9GB avail, but counting video as using 17.9GB of my iPad's total capacity.
    Anyone else?
I'm also trying to add Photogene to my iPad via iTunes and keep getting an error message indicating I need a newer version of iPad software to install, although I do have the most recent version. Seems like iTunes 10 issues.

There seems to be some reports that iTunes is reporting the wrong numbers for the free space, thought that's not happening to me (as best as I can tell) on my iPhone and iPad.
As for Photogene, my guess is that you're trying to install the iPhone version on your iPad. The iPhone version only works on iOS 4.0, so can't be installed on the iPad. There is an iPad version, but you have to buy it separately.
