Minority interest - functional knowledge & grouping for Consolidation

Hi Experts,
Scenario
A > holds 100% in B, 10% in C, 5% in D
B > holds 90% in C, 95% in D, 100 % in E, 1 % in F
E > holds 99 % in F
No shares are owned by parties outside the group.
1) Minority Interest
In case like this will MI be accounted for?
Can we say B's holding of 1% in equity of F as minority holding?
Similarly A's holding of 5 % in D; 10% in C?
2) Consolidation Groups - in this scenario will be
CG 1 - E & F                   (E - Parent, Purchase Method)
CG 2 - B, C, D, F & CG1  (B - Parent, Purchase Method)
CG 3 - A, C, D & CG2      (A - Parent, Purchase Method)
Many Thanks!
Kumar

Thanks Dan!
Yes, purchase method is assigned to all Cons Units and groups.
Having said that, is the grouping correct?

  • IFRS requirement , minority interest calculation and accounting for in SAP.

    hi ,
    We need  financial  consolidation with full consolidation , equity interest, minority interest as per  IFRS requirements  along with inter company eliminations
    Will it be possible thru ECCS or we need to go to SEM suite.
    thanks
    KR

    Hi,
    With Virtual Ledgers in Ecc 5.0 and 6.0 we can customise few things and connected to ECCS module.
    If you have BI,SEM modules implemented then it is better to go with Consolidation modules rather than ECCS.
    Thanks

  • Functional knowledge mandatory for an abaper

    Dear Experts,
                        I have one doubt .I would like to know how much functional knowledge is required for an abaper. I am a beginner.
    How to become a good abaper.

    The more business and functional knowledge a developer has, the better he'll be able to apply his development skills. Though I'd rather have a developer with little business knowledge who's really good a programming, than a business monster who doesn't know what encapsulation is.  Sadly, especially since the idea that technical skills are a commodity, what you end up with is "developers" who have no understanding of program design and no business understanding either. And dreadfully written programs, which are intially produced very cheaply but are enormously expensive to maintain or enhance. But that's ok, because maintainance and enhancement is an operational cost, not a project cost.
    The split between functional/technical is in my mind rather artificial. I've been working in IT for a long time. When I started we had analyst programmers. We used to go talk to the business, find out their needs, then go a write the software. My suspicion is that the large consultancies didn't like the technical side of IT, as there you have to produce concrete results. So they came up with the idea of the functional/technical split. This also helped in other ways, because they could then take on "IT" people with no technical knowledge at all, which are certainly a lot easier to find.

  • Minority Interest calculation and consolidation

    Hi people. i am new to HFM. I am kind of stuck with Minority Interest calculation and the consolidation of it. Now after looking at different posts on the minority interest calculation here , i am still confused if we could use the calculation expression for Minority Interest calculation within Sub Consolidate() or should we include it in Sub Calculate(). Please find below the script that i am working on.
    SCRIPT :
    Sub Consolidate()
    Method=HS.Node.Method("")
    PCon=HS.Node.PCon("")
    POwn=HS.Node.POwn("")
    vMIN=1-HS.Node.POwn("")
    PMin=PCon-POwn
    Dim strAccount,i
    Set DataUnit=HS.OpenDataUnit("")
    NumItems=DataUnit.GetNumItems
    For i=0 to NumItems-1
    Call DataUnit.GetItem(i,strAccount,ICP,Custom1,Custom2,Custom3,Custom4,Data)
    If Method="Holding" Then
    Call HS.Con("",PCon,"")
    End If
    If Method="Global" Then
    If StrAccount = "281100" Then
    Call HS.Con("A#281100",PMin,"PMin")
    'Call HS.Con("A#281000",vMIN,"")
    Else
    Call HS.Con("",POwn,"")
    End If
    End If
    'If HS.Account.IsConsolidated(strAccount) and Data0 Then
    'If Data0 Then
    'HS.Con "A#"&strAccount,POwn,""
    'If StrAccount = "281100" Then
    'HS.Con "",PMin,""
    'End If
    'End If
    'End If
    Next
    End sub
    Sub Calculate()
    HS.EXP "A#281100 = A#CapitalStock - A#Investments"
    End Sub
    My Doubts :
    1. Is the expression correct for Minority Interest calculation ?
    2. If so can we use it in Sub Consolidate() ?
    3. Should the Minority Interest consolidate to its parent using PMin ? If so kindly provide the appropriate expression.
    Looking forward to some help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    If I got it correctly, you don't want the A#281100 calculation to happen for your holding company. There is a preferable way to do your consolidation that avoids involving the Calculate() altogether. So scrap your Calculate and write this Consolidate() instead:
    Sub Consolidate()
    Method=HS.Node.Method("")
    PCon=HS.Node.PCon("")
    POwn=HS.Node.POwn("")
    vMIN=1-HS.Node.POwn("")
    PMin=PCon-POwn
    Dim strAccount,i
    Set DataUnit=HS.OpenDataUnit("")
    NumItems=DataUnit.GetNumItems
    For i=0 to NumItems-1
    Call DataUnit.GetItem(i,strAccount,ICP,Custom1,Custom2,Custom3,Custom4,Data)
    If Method="Holding" Then
    Call HS.Con("",PCon,"")End If
    If Method="Global" Then
    If StrAccount = "CapitalStock" Then
    Call HS.Con("",POwn,"")
    Call HS.Con("A#281100",PMin,"")ElseIf StrAccount = "Investments" Then
    Call HS.Con("",POwn,"")
    Call HS.Con("A#281100", (-1) * PMin,"")Else
    Call HS.Con("",POwn,"")End IfEnd IfNextEnd subWith this code, the minority interest will calculate only for entities using the Global method.
    I did not drive you to this solution immediately in order to avoid to confuse you, as well as because this does not address the issue of Calculation() running at many Value levels.

  • Minority Interest in Subsequent Consolidation

    Hi Experts
    Is there a way to ensure that the P&L account for MI is posted in the COI task for the Subsequent Consolidation activity?, we have scenarios with percentage of ownership < 100% that should generate the minority interest in P&L.
    We have the proper configuration in the "Appropriation of Retained Earnings" --> "Net Income" --> "Minority Interest in Net Income" option. See following thread: SEM-BCS  Minority Interest in Income Statement
    In the consolidation area we have selected the Appropiation of Retained Earnings "in Income Statement". See following thread: Diference beetwen app of ret earnings in BALANCE Vs INCOME STAT
    In the execution of the COI task for the subsequent consolidation activity, only the Balance Sheet postings (for the RE and MI) and the statistical Net Income Postings appear in the posting document, the P&L account for MI is missing.
    Are we missing something?
    Regards
    Paul

    Thanks for the reponse, we tested  with both options in the consolidation area and neither of them gave us the desired posting in the PL account.
    Addtional Information that might me useful:
    Accounting Technique: Purchase Method
    Acquisition: Direct Share
    Investment Data comes from Additional Financial Data
    Equity Data comes from Totals Database (hence the RE comes from here)

  • Missing item assignment for "Minority interest in the balance sheet"

    Dear Experts,
    We unable to perform "Consolidation of investment" and "Validation of Consolidation data" due to our 2 newly created ECCS Accounts not properly assigned. Can any experts guide me how to mapped it? Your fast action is very much appreciated.
    Regards/Lisa

    Dear Dan Sullivan,
    I have created 2 news ECCS Accounts named as SHARE CAPITAL & SHARE PREMIUM. And i do not know how to eliminate these 2 new ECCS accounts with INVESTMENT IN SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES.
    When we performing CONSOLIDATION OF INVESTMENT, the error message showed "Missing Item assignment for Minority Interest in the Balance Sheet" and "No Items are assigned to the items (Newly created ECCS Account)".
    Further when we run VALIDATION OF TOTALS DATA, the error message showed "Total Assets is not equal to Total Liabilities + Equity" in Step 002.

  • Minority Interest Calculation in Consolidation

    Hi,
    How is Minority Interest Calculation Handled in a Group Company or in Consolidated Balance Sheets. How it can be shown in SAP?
    Reagrds

    What we did is set up a calc in the calculate subroutine that caculates minority interest and puts it to the elimination company.
    If HS.Entity.UD1("")="RETAILCONSELIM" Then
    HS.Exp "A#MINORITYINTSUBS=(E#SUSSERCO.A#NETINCOME.W#Periodic"&{All_Top}&"*.1482)"
    End IF

  • Preparation for Consolidation group changes

    Hi Experts,
    I have worked on BCS but new to consolidation of investments and PCC.
    I am not able to understand the Preparation for Consolidation (PCC) tasks  as to why are they required. I've the following questions: -
    1. SAP help says PCC tasks are supplementary to the C/I tasks. Could you elaborate on how are the suuplementary to C/I tasks?
    2. What is the diff. between Acuisition in case of C/I and in case of PCC?
    3. In terms of reporting what will go worng if we don't run PCC tasks after a new acquisition let say.
    Thanks in advance,
    SSC

    1. PCC creates records to offset the balance sheet balances upon divestiture. These records include the relevant cons group values, where most BCS records do not include cons group because cons group in most cases is determined dynamically via the BCS virtual infocube function module's consolidations logic.
    2. PCC records and documents only occur when there is a divestiture in the master data for a cons group. This could occur for a divestiture or transfer activity. Acquisition does not affect PCC, except when it occurs as a result of a transfer, and it is relevant to the divestiture portion of the transfer as opposed to the acquisition portion.
    3. Nothing after an acquisition, it is mainly for divestitures and transfers (where a divestiture is necessary in the cons group master data).

  • Function Module / BAPI for Creating Material freight Group

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me the Function Module / Bapi for creating material freight group.
    Regards,
    Raj.

    Bapi for creating material freight group. :: You actually use mm01 or mm02 to change data for material flight.
    So you can use BAPI for mm02 and mm01
    For Ex:
    BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA
    Hope this helps

  • Process Chain for Consolidation Functions

    Hi Team,
                  We have created a process chain for consolidation function as required by client, but we want the process chain to check the preceding  task status and only on successfully completion it should  proceed to next task. Is there a standard program or function module which does this, please update.
    Also we would like to pass dynamic permanent parameter values for the variants of task.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards
    Sridhar

    Hi Collet,
                 We have created a process chain  as  below:
    Period Initialization - Data Collection -LDS - Calculation of RE - Validation of RFD - Interunit Elimination -COI.
    I have created the Separate variants for  each of the above functions with program UCBATCH01.and the process chain is working fine.
    But we want the process chain to check the task status before it proceed to next task execution and stop if any error occurs in the task. Also we want the  dynamic selection of parameters from Permanent Parameters of Consolidation Monitor.

  • SEM-BCS Preparation for Consolidation Group Changes

    Hi All,
    Is the task "Preparation for Consolidation Group Changes" only implemented when Consolidation of Investments has also been implemented?
    Does "Preparation for Consolidation Group Changes" have any value on its own?
    Any comments, replies or suggestions most welcome.

    Hi,
    I think that prep for cons group changes is independent (but supplementary to) from CoI.
    See what is said in help:
    "When in the middle of a fiscal year a consolidation unit is either acquired by a consolidation group (acquisition), divested from a consolidation group (divestiture), or <b>changes its accounting technique</b> (method change), the following data must be adjusted:
    - Reported financial data
    - Standardized financial data
    - Consolidated data with posting level 20"
    As you can see, not only consolidated data are to be changed, but also Standardized and Reported.
    Moreover, as is seen above, changes of accounting technique will also trigger such activities.
    So, my answers:
    1. No
    2. Yes.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • How to find suitable( existing) function group for a Function Module ?

    How to find suitable( existing) function group for a Function Module to be created?
    This is FM for converting amounts to text.

    Hi,
            If you are not sure into which Function group your FM should go in then its advised to create a Function group of your own. Its not advised to create a function module in any other function group unless its owned by you since your FM can get deleted by others or it can get changed.
    Create your own Function group. But if you want to create in an existing FG then best way is to find out the Function Group by searching for suitable existing Function module then see their function group

  • Partner Segment as part of New GL function for consolidation purpose

    Dear SAP colleagues,
    I have the following questions around Partner Segment as part of the New GL function:
    1. Has anybody added partner segment (Field PSEGMENT) to the Coding Block as part of the New GL function yet?
    2. Can we display or add partner segments on all relevant postings?
    3. What other alternatives exist for consolidation in BCS lower than company code?
    4. Who has some documentation around why partner segments should be added to the coding block?
    5. Who has business requirements for adding partner segments and documentation?
    In advance thank you very for any help that can be provided.

    Hi Partner segment s required if you prepare consolidation for segments. This field can help the consolidation system to identify inter segment transactions for profit elimination. Trading partner field is used to identify Intercompany Postings and it will help legal entity consolidation.
