    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
Your mac must be on 10.8.x to use AirPlay Mirroring and be supported above.

  • Used to zoom computer screen while using apple tv, since update, my screen is mirrored, but zooming doesn't show up

I used to be able to zoom in and out on my computer screen while using apple tv. For example, zoom in on a certain URL or ribbon. Since the update, my screen is mirrored, but when I zoom in and out to show my Word ribbon up close, etc., the zooming doesn't show up. My zoom preferences are set on computer.

You might try restarting your device, your router and your Apple TV.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't. Mirroring is just what it says, it mirrors exactly what is on your computer screen, if there is nothing on your computer screen, that's what you will see on your TV screen.

  • I can't mirror my computer screen on Apple TV

Hi how can i fix this probleme it was workin good and stops
I try to connect and I lose my wifi signal for minutes that happens only when I try to mirror my computer screen on Apple TV

Sounds like an issue with your wireless network. Check for interference using istumbler, make sure router is up to date and refer to manual for configuration options.

You're talking about Air Play Mirroring About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X
Your 2010 iMac doesn't meet the requirements For AirPlay mirroring but you can take a look at AirParrot http://www.airsquirrels.com/airparrot/

  • HT4279 I have a Macbook Pro (late 2012) and I would like to connect it to 2 screens simultaneously (1 screen is a TV and can only take HDMI, the other is a larger computer screen and has both VGA and HDMI connections). How can I do this?

The article you cited refers to The Mac Pro, a 50lb silver tower -- not a notebook computer.
    Everymac.com says:
    2nd Display Support:
    Dual/Mirroring*
    2nd Max. Resolution:
    2560x1600 (x2*)
    Details:
*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single display up to 1920x1200 via HDMI. Although it can theoretically power all three external displays, as confirmed by a helpful reader, it runs too hot with three displays connected.
Also see: How many external displays can the Retina Display MacBook Pro models support? What is the maximum supported resolution of each? Are adapters required?
When using other than ThunderBolt displays, the ThunderBolt port is directly compatible with Mini DisplayPort, and can be forced into compatibility (with Single-Link DVI or HDMI up to 1920 wide) with a simple adapter.
To adapt to wider displays, an ACTIVE Dual-Link adapter is needed, about US$100.

  • How to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite?

Does anybody know how to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite? I've tried the hot key Shift + Control + Eject, but that sends the TV's screen as well as my iMac's screen to sleep at the same time. I don't want the 2 screens playing at the same time - I would like to send the computer's screen to sleep whilst the Apple TV continue's to play/mirror. Hoping someone knows how to do this?

Thanks Vazandrew for your detailed explanation. I think you've answered my question in that what I'm wanting to do is not possible because it is mirroring in its entirety, unless it is being done via iTunes.
I live in hope that Apple (can in-time) organise the same screen sleep capability that operates via iTunes for people wanting to stream regular online TV via iMac!
I would like to mark my question as answered by you, but had already checked the helpful star before going to mark the answered check mark. Didn't realise you could only mark one or the other…with no editing function.
Your explanation as to what is going on with the mirroring was much appreciated, as I couldn't figure out why the short cut keys worked sometimes (via iTunes) and not others (via regular streamed online TV).

  • How do I get my TV to display what's on my computer screen (Not I-tunes)?

How do I get my TV to display what's on my computer screen (Not I-tunes)?

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

  • Stream computer screen to TV

Not sure why this took me to the US discussion board, so I hope I'm in the right place!!  If it matters. I'm in Canada!
I bought an AppleTV today.  Setup was super easy (I'm listening to my iTunes library right now!)  BUT .... the ONE thing I really wanted it to do I can't find out if it's even possible.
I want to stream what I'm looking at on my computer screen to my TV.  So, let's say you're on a network TV website like watch.ctv.ca (or something like http://abc.go.com/watch for US folks), and want to watch the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy ... but on your big screen TV.  How do u get it from the laptop to the TV?
I wanted the AppleTV to eliminate the cables I had running from my TV to my laptop.  Am I still gonna need them for this one thing??

There is no US or Canadian community, there are English or Japanese speaking communities, you are in the English speaking community.
The Apple TV is not intended to mirror your desktop, you'll need cables for that and you sound as though you already have them.

  • Mirror iPad screen on it Host PC.

I have a business presentation to make to several remote audience members and will be hosting that meeting from an iMac desktop computer.  I will be sharing my host iMac's screen and hope to simultaneously show a connected iPad's screen as a window on the host computer screen. My intention is to show an iPad application's behavior to the audience along with a slide presentation from the iMac.
I've seen examples of 'terminal service'-like applications where I can display a PC's screen on the iPad.  This is not what I'm looking for.  I don't need to control the PC/iMac from the iPad.  I've also seen examples of other tools that require jailbreaking.  No, thanks.  I simply want to present the iPad's screen image to the remote audience - regardless of the app running on the iPad.
No, I don't want to host the meeting from the iPad, as this won't give the breadth of control I need.  And, no, I don't want to 'take a video' of the iPad from the iMac's camera, as this will grossly diminish the granularity of the image.  And finally, no, I don't want to capture a canned video of the iPad application's behavior for playback.  The presentation must be a flexible, real-time review of the application's interactivity.
I believe what I'm looking for is nothing more than the same technique used during Apple's keynote introduction of the iPad.
Any solid suggestions from this august group is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Me.

The only product that I know of where you can remotely view an iPad is LogMeIn Rescue.  It is designed for a customer support rep to remotely control an iPad, and so can also view the iPad's screen.  This is more than what you want, since the audience would be able to control your iPad.  And it is an "enterprise solution" so is priced accordingly.  (Almost $2000/year.)
I suggest you think "outside the box".  Perhaps use the HDMI adapter to mirror your iPad's display (assuming you have an iPad2) and use a video capture device to display the HDMI input in a window on the Mac.  The HDMI capture device is not going to be cheap either but off the top of my head, that's all I can think of at the moment.
...I believe what I'm looking for is nothing more than the same technique used during Apple's keynote introduction of the iPad....
BTW, what was shown in the keynote was not as complex as what you're trying to do.  The iPad's screen was mirrored to a projector (or whatever was onscreen behind Steve,) NOT displaying the iPad onto a Mac's desktop.  What we all watched was some guy with a video camera showing Steve and the screen behind him, and a producer/director person switching signal inputs between the cameraman and the iPad screen video feed.  (e.g.: the HDMI output of the iPad.)  IOW, what was on the projection screen was the iPad's screen by itself, or the slideshow slides, or the cameraman's shots.
So while you say you do not want to use a camera to capture the iPad's display, at times that is more or less what was happening in the keynote.

  • Projecting Computer Screen onto Apple TV

I have a mac mini and I'd like to project the computer screen onto my tv. Can I do this through Apple TV?

    Hi.
Yes, you can display your Mac mini computer screen on your television with AirPlay Mirroring and an Apple TV.
Your Mac mini must be a mid-2011 or newer model and running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
The Apple TV (2nd/3rd gen) must be running software update 5.0 or later.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Trackpad app that mirrors finger/screen position

    Hello folks,
There are many trackpad apps, wondering if anyone has found one that will mirror the position of your finger on your iPhone on the computer screen? I.e. if your finger is in the upper left corner of the iPhone screen then the mouse cursor would be in the upper left corner of your computer screen etc. etc.
Has anyone found a trackpad app that will work this way rather than having to gradually move the mouse cursor around? TIA

Hello, that is an extremely interesting mouse but no it is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about apps that turn an iPhone or iPad into a trackpad to use with your computer. I am wondering if any of these trackpad apps would work similar to a Wacom tablet sans pen. In other words the pointer on the computer screen would go to whatever position correlates to the position of your finger on the iPad or iPhone running the trackpad app. So instead of having to do multiple swipes to take the cursor across the screen you would simply point to the upper right corner of the trackpad app and your cursor would be in the upper right corner of your computer screen. This seems to be a very difficult concept to communicate. There are zillions of trackpad apps for iPhone and iPad, since I do not currently have the time to look through every single one of them for a features list and try them all out, I was hoping someone might have run across this and be able to point me at the correct app.
    Thank you very much
