Hi there, from what type of device are you trying to print the images from e.g. a smartphone/tablet or a PC/laptop?

  • HP ENVY 4500: Wirelesss Setup Will Not Recognize Correct Password!

I recently attempted to establish a wireless connection for a HP ENVY 4500 and I could not get the printer to accept the CORRECT wireless network password.  This is the second such printer like this that I have set up and I have one
    additional one to go.
Going through the onscreen wireless setup provesss, I found the network (SSID) name okay.  Repeated attempts of entering the correct password failed with error messages indicating the password was not recognized.  The password has upper case/cap letters, lower case letters, numbers and common keyboard characters all of which were found on the printer's password input panels.  I even tried the modem/router's original default password and it did not work.
The only difference between my last printer set up and this one is a different type of internet service (formerly cable, later DSL, and the modem/router control panels look differently).  On the current DSL modem/router, I am using the default security settings.
I know most readers of this posting will think I must not be entering the password correctly but I am.  I have paid attention to every proper character of the password especially caps.  I was able to connect other devices to the wireless network with no problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for trouble-shooting?  Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

I share your concern about WPS as it is easy to crack and doesn't take long to retrieve the network key.  Making matters worse, even turning it off on some routers doesn't disable the vulnerability.  That is the case with every Linksys router I've checked.  But you can connect by WPS and then turn it off.  If it is not a Linksys router you will probably be ok and even if it is a Linksys router you are no worse off than you were before.  The WPS attack is a brute force attack and takes some time (in the hours category which is relatively quick for a brute force attack) so leaving WPS on for a few minutes is pretty safe.  Another thing came to mind after reading your post, are you sure you have the right SSID?  If there are many people nearby and you used a common or default SSID name like "Linksys", then the printer may not be connected to the network you think it is.  The other thing I would recommend is changing the wireless channel used by the router but to do that you would need access to the router's EWS which it sounds like you do not have.  You might want to ask Century Link about how to access it.  I can't image not being able to access the router on my home network.  You might want to ask them for options.  Router's are cheap.  I would buy my own if the ISP wouldn't give me access to the one they provide.  Let me know how it goes.

  • Scanning Multiple Pages using HP ENVY 4500

Hi, I have a macbook pro running OSX 10.9.4, and cannot see how I can scan multiple pages.  I have tried using Image Capture and the Scan function under system preferences.  I place the first page on the glass and change format to pdf and check the box that says 'combine into single document'. It usually 'automatically' scans the page at this point, and if I click Overview Scan, it scans again.  If I try to click on "Scan' it says it is done scanning the selected area.  I have no idea what to do after this, or where to find the document (its not showing up in the selected 'Scan To' location.
    Many thanks.

  • About HP envy 4500 printing for both sides for mac os x 10.9.4

I got the printer recently. I have installed the lastest software and set up air print successfully. I was trying to print out mt notes for both sides of the paper but I did not see the " print both sides" option. I looked up the old post in the forum and tried to follow the set up step by step, but it is still not working. Can anyone tell me how to set up the both sides printing option.
    Thank you so much.

    Hi @chloe_chie,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are wondering how to print on both sides with your HP Envy 4500 on your Mac OS X 10.9.4, and I am happy to help!
Please make sure that the correct driver has been selected on the Mac. Meaning, it should read HP Envy 4500, not the Airprint driver.
To do this go to the Apple Icon, System Preferences, then Print & Scan and look for the images below:
Once we have verified that we have the correct driver selected, then please follow through this guide, Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) for HP Deskjet 3540, 4640, ENVY 4500, and Officejet ....
Hope this information helps, and have a nice day!

  • My ENVY 4500 Printer keeps disconnecting (not WiFi)

My ENVY 4500 Printer keeps disconnecting sporatically. One minute I can print just fine, the next the printer can't be reached. The printer status shows "The printer is not connected."
This keeps happening from all the devices, not just my iMAC. I tried from my PC Laptop, from my iPad, iPhone. Same story. When it goes off, it goes off for all devices. I tried reinstalling the printer, tried restarting it, unplugging it. Nothing seems to fix it.
If I print the report right from the printer durring this time, it says everything is connected and no problems found (see image attached).
Then after a while, like an hour or two later, all of a sudden the printer will spit out all the prints that were sitting in the queue.
I have contacted the support and they logged into the printer and reset some settings and it started working, then about a week later it did it again. It continues to do this maybe once a week or so.
I don't know what to do any more. Anybody have any ideas?

  • Why is my Envy 4500 printer not centering the photo when it prints

when printing photos all of a sudden the pictures came out uncentered

    Hello @wooly1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that when printing photos from your Windows XP computer to your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer, the images are printing off center on your paper. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. However, I do need to verify a few things first in order to provide you with accurate troubleshooting steps:
    1. What program are you printing photos from?
    2. What size is the paper that you're printing photos on?
    3. What type of paper (plain, glossy, matte, etc) are you printing photos on?
In the meantime, can I please have you run an alignment on your printer to verify if your print system is just misaligned. After running the alignment, please try to print a photo again.
    How to Align Printer:
    1. Load plain white paper in the paper tray.
    2. On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow () to select Align Printer, and then press OK. The printer prints a test page, and then prompts you to scan the page.
    3. Lift the scanner lid, and then place the page on the glass according to the instructions on the alignment page.
    4. Close the scanner lid, and then touch OK.
Please let me know if the alignment resolved your 'off centered' print issue. Should you still be experiencing issues be sure to respond with the answers to my questions above. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Hp envy 4500 prints off set

My HP Envy 4500 doesn't print the image centered on the page. I've ran the alignment page and scanned it successfully.I'm printing 8.5x11 on staple matte photo supreme paper.  I'm printing from photoshop and "photos" mac .I've tried using "fit screen" as well as other layouts in the print dialogue window, which look correct in the preview. It seems to randomly offset the image, sometimes as much as half off the page.  Everything else seems to work fine except for the position of the image on the page. Please help.thanks

So is it the black text that's faint? I'd recommend contacting HP Phone support. You may need to tell the warranty ends date of the cartridge (YYYY/MM/DD)....

  • How do I print a mirror image?  Where did the old functionality go?

Within the last several months I was able to print a mirror image of my document to my HP DeskJet F4180 in high resolution. I don't know if it is the new HP drivers, or my new Snow Leopard OS but now I can' figure out how to do it again. I can grab a screen shot in and flip it in Preview but it ends up printing in low resolution.
I have printed mirror images in the past from my PDF applciations and I think from Office 2008 (PowerPoint). I find no documents saved on my hard drive that come up saved as a reverse image so I suspect that I was using a printer feature not an application feature to print mirror images.
    Where did this functionality go?

    Found it!
Use the check box marked Flip Image. Didn't is say mirror before?

  • HP Envy 4500 connection issues

Hi. My Envy 4500 all the sudden will not print, becuase a message on my mac printer icon reads, 'Printer not connected." It HAS been connected....I don't know what happened. The driver appears to be missing from my computer, too. The printer itself, which is wireless, is lit up, so it is on. Ideas? Thank you.

Hello @bogarrity, and thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I see you're running into connectivity and software issues.  I'd be happy to help!
I am posting an HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which version of the Mac operating system you are using:
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers.

  • HP Envy 4500 - issues with paper feeding on intial setup

I just bought this HP Envy 4500 this afternoon and I need to use it asap.  Upon initial set up (before any wireless connections), I am stuck at the paper feed needed in order to print the test page. I loaded plain white paper but it still tells me to load the paper.  It sounds like it's preparing to print but then the paper does not feed, it never pulls the paper in.  I have used 3 varying stacks of paper to try to get it to pull and nothing.
    Please help.  TIA

    Hi @Loopster2,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are setting up your HP Envy 4500, but it is not recognizing the paper, so it keeps asking you to load the paper.
Please make sure the Paper Tray is pushed all the way back, alot of the times if you are getting this error it is because the paper tray isn't installed properly.

  • My toshiba laptop won't connect to my HP Envy 4500 printer

I have recently attempted connecting my Toshiba laptop, which runs Windows 8, wirelessly to my HP Envy 4500 printer. I'm trying to scan something onto my laptop, which I have done with the printer before. I have the remote app, and I have connected to the printer's wireless network that pops up in the wifi section of my computer. However, when attempting to get the printer to scan, using the option on the printer's screen, it said that no device was connected, and to make sure the software was installed and that scan to pc was enabled. I opened the app on my laptop, hoping to get better results using it that was, but it told me that the printer was offline, though it was clearly on. I am not entirely sure why the printer is not recognizing my laptop, even though my laptop recognizes it. I spent nearly two hours disconnecting and reconnecting, as well as turning the printer off about three times. I am about to uninstall the app and try reinstalling it, but I am doubting the results will be any better.
I see no other way to fix this problem, as there is no USB port in which to connect a USB cable, like myprevious printer, and am wondering if it is my latop, not the printer, that is faulty. It works for printing when it comes to the other devices in my household, but I have had problems even printing with my Toshiba before. I have only attempted scanning with one other device: a HP Pavillion Media Center TV PC desktop. I am starting to think that the scanner is defaulting to only reognizing other HP products, and request any and all advice in fixing this issue.
    This question was solved.

    Hi AMakkei,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan with your HP Envy 4500 to your Windows 8 laptop, and I am happy to help you with this connection issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know following information:
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
If the power cable plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please try going through this guide. A 'Computer Not Found' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning, and let me know what happens!

  • HP Envy 4500 scanner is busy

Suddenly, it is no longer possible to make a scan (or copy) on my HP Envy 4500 All-in-one.
A Windows 7 desktop, Windows 8 notebook and Android 4.4 all report errors, originating from the respective HP software/app. In addition, Windows 7 itself reports an error as well. All messages refer to the scanner being "busy" or mention another scan operation being in progress. However, no scan is taking place from any device. Initiating a scan or copy from the device itself doesn't work either.
The errors persists on both USB and Wifi connections. Printing works just fine.
I tried updating the firmware, but the updater cannot proceed because there is a "problem" with the device. HP Print and Scan Doctor fails at the second step ("Controle stuurprogramma", meaning "driver check"). Reboot does not help. Restoring factory defaults from the device's screen does not help. Resetting the device by pulling the plug while the device is powered on does not help. Reïnstalling the full driver does not help. Removing and re-adding the device to windows doesn't either.
I tried all steps on the HP support page [1,2] that Print and Scan Doctor directed me to. Did not work.
This is a refurbished Envy 4500 I got from HP because my original device was DOA (dead on arrival). I'm getting the impression the refurbished device was faulty and is faulty still.
Kindly request HP support staff to provide me with a solution.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @dpx ,
I read your post about how you cannot make scans or even copies. First of all, thank you for your detailed post, the information really helps. • HP Envy 4500 All in One - Printer Error - not finishing print job / non-specific error code

Help - my new HP ENVY 4500 AIO (less 3 months old) has never completed a print job if it is over 1 page. I'm connected wirelessly, and not sure if there is an interruption in the wireless connection or if this is defect in the  printer. I receive a message "Printer Error - HP ENVY cancelling print job" and that's it. It will usually happen when it's on the last page of a small print job or half way thru a large (10+ page) of a print job.  Any suggestions? I've downloaded HP Print/Scan Dr - it didn't find any issues.

I had the same issue. Got in contact with HP customer service and the first person that helped had no idea how to fix it.  Got in contact with someone else and they found the issue right away. I had it connected through the wrong port.
First find out what the IP address of your printer is. You can do this by pressing the small wifi button on the front of your printer and it will show the IP address.
Then what you'll have to do is go to the start menu of your computer and search for "Devices and Printers".
Click that and a screen will open. Look for your printer an right click.
Click "Printer Properties" and a new screen will open.
Along the top you will see a few tabs. Click the one that says "Ports"
    Click "Add Port"
Highlight "Standard TCP/IP Port" by clicking on it, then click "New Port"
    A new screen will open.
    Click "Next"
Type in the IP Address of your printer and click "Next"
After that your computer should find your printer.
Click finish and you should be all set.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP ENVY 4500 - Scan to Computer: Partial scan, How to disable it?

    Hi,
I have an HP ENVY 4500, setup on wireless with a few computers runing on Windows 7.
The printer has no issues; However if I scan a document using the "Scan to Computer" feature, it will not capture the whole document in one *.JPEG file, but will split it in two or four parts (Logo in one JPEG, Signature in another... etc)
It has done this since the beginning, but it didn't really bother me because I was scanning directly from the computer to avoid that (Since the option from Windows is easy to change).
But today, I had to scan a 100 Pages of different documents... and the Scanner is in another room... so going back an forth from computer to scanner (room to room) is just too much! So, I tried the "Scan to Computer" feature... and it doesn't keep the documents in one piece!
Is there any option to change?
I searched online, and a few people posted on that, but the solutions proposed were to scan directly from the computer (And that was the solution I originally found a few months ago)
But now, I would really like to correctly configure that "Scan to Computer" feature to save only ONE *.JPEG file in my computer, I don't need the split thing. I don't understand why HP didn't configure the printer to save at least ONE FULL glass copy, and then maybe parts of it, but at least keep ONE full scan, so we can just delete the pieces, and keep the full page...
Thank you for your help, and hope that there is a solution for that...
I will search more, and if I find a solution I will post it as a reply.
    Thank you!

I was having the same problem, but I played around with the Settings and figured it out. Its a little complicated, so I'll try my best to explain.
First, I opened the HP Utility App, selected my printer, and clicked on Scan Settings.
Under Scan to Computer, click Edit Scan Tasks...
Select the Photo (JPEG) option and click Edit...
Then under Scan Items from HP Devices, click Show Details
Finally, look for a Crop To: option, and "Item Bounds" is probably selected. Change this to "US Letter" and that should fix your problem.
    I hope this helps
