Mirror the login panel?

It's strange that I can't find anything about this online, but here goes: I've got an application where two monitors are in two different rooms. The monitors aren't the same resolution and I don't mirror the displays, BUT: I need the displays to always be mirrored when the login panel appears, because I need to login from either room.
Is there a way to make sure that the login screen is always mirrored on both monitors?

well, I know that, (I wrote it in the post). The background of the login window is very easy to change.
On the other hand, the blue screen that appears BETWEEN the grey screen and the login window is not..Or you don't have such blue intermediate screen?
Any clue on this?

  • IPhone 3.0, the WiFi Login Panel and passwords that change daily

Does anybody else use their 3.0 iPhone regularly with a WiFi LAN that requires web login … AND the password changes daily? I connect daily to one that has Cisco authentication that I must get through each day with a different password.
The first few days I ran with 3.0 I was impressed that it detected the need to login and presented me the Login-Panel. However, I think the code/logic of this new 3.0 feature is, in the background, trying to re-login using the previous username/password I gave. If it felt the need to re-login that day, all is well. If it try’s that the next day, it’ll fail. No problem, as the next day it does present the login-panel again and I enter the new user/pswd combo.
However, after doing this for over a month now, about 20% of the time when I go to login in the morning my iPhone studders, crawls, and character echo in the login-panel can drop down to one character every 15 seconds. I’ve had to force power-off and reboot half a dozen times. Not always, but enough to make it a problem.
    Anyone else encounter this?

No, I have not encountered that situation.
BUT.... I suggest you talk to the System Admin for the Cisco network and ask if they can move you to a user or admin group that does not require daily password changes, or perhaps 802.1x if security is critical?
    Maybe...

  • I can't make it to the login screen

When I turn on my iMac after a routine shutdown it won't load the login window. It gets to the blue screen but when it's time for the login panel to boot it just freezes.
I've tried booting in safe mode, I loading the disk utility from the installation disk and I even started in single user mode and ran the fsck command but nothing has worked. The last two seemed to encounter errors but then it seemed to have fixed them. Is there anything else I can try before I have a professional look at the issue.

    Hello misslissa:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    Try this:
Boot from your software install DVD and then run repair disk (fsck is not recommended by Apple after OS X 10.4).
A question…. did the problem just start out of the blue, or have there been hardware changes?

  • Using Setup Assistant to migrate a 10.4.11 server to a new SL server, and have login panel before hardly anything has happened

We have a 10.4.11 server, running on an antique 1.0GHz G4 Xserve.  We have purchased a mac mini server to replace it.  The Xserve only runs 3 services:  AFP, FTP and Open Directory (Master).  (We are considering reconfiguring the new server as an Open Directory replicate to another OD master on the network later.)
I've RAIDed the two disks on the mini and reinstalled the OS.  It restarted, went through the language setup, put in the serial number, etc., and got to the "Transfer the information from an existing server" choice.  At that point, went and made a SuperDuper dmg of the 10.4.11 on a firewire drive.  When that was done, moved the firewire drive to the mini server, it appeared in the box as a choice for migrating from, selected it, and hit "continue."  It went through a couple of automatic screens with progress bars -- but it only took maybe 3-5 minutes, and then the machine rebooted.  It took nowhere NEAR long enough to have copied the data over -- the clone took nearly 3 hours to create, and it's running through a firewire 400.
So now the machine is sitting there, with the login panel up.  The firewire drive with the Xserve's image on it is still plugged in, and the blue light on the front of the drive is flashing like crazy.  What the heck?  I can't imagine that I should be logging in to the new server if it is in the middle of transferring data over!  Is it copying data?  If yes, how am I going to know when it's done?  If not, what the heck is it doing and what do I have to do to get it to copy the data over?

Called Apple.  They said, "Oh, yeah, Setup Assistant doesn't actually work from 10.4 to 10.6"  (So WHY don't they fix it?  Why don't they take the manual off of the web site?)
Moved on to Plan B.  Hooked the firewire drive to a G5 mac.  Stuck the 10.5 server disk into the G5, and upgraded the firwire drive to 10.5 server.  Booted off of it, changed the IP address and name, upgraded to 10.5.8, tested that our applications all worked.  Then hooked the firewire drive back up to the mini, ran through the 10.6 server initialization, and at the end selected the firewire drive as the "source" for “Transfer the information from an existing server”.  It went through the same as it did when it was at 10.4 -- did a few quick things and then rebooted and none of the data had transferred.
Now we are at Plan C.  Booted the mini off of the server install disk, and tried to upgrade the firewire drive to 10.6.  Told us we can't because it needs to be GUID.  After saying a few appropriate obscenities, got another firewire drive, formatted it GUID and are now doing a copy from the upgraded-to-10.5 firewire drive to the formatted-GUID drive.
Plan D is to upgrade the new drive to 10.6 server, try to boot the mini off of it, and if it works, use DiskUtility to copy it to the mini's internal RAID.

  • I am unable to log into the server wiki. I can get as far as the login page.

When I attempte to log into our company server wiki I can get as far as the login page.
When I type in any user/pass all I see is a spinning wheel on the login panel.
The error that is occuring in the back ground is  as follows
    ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid in LoginController#plain_login
SQLite3::SQLException: attempt to write a readonly database: INSERT INTO "users" ("uid", "created_at", "shortname", "longname", "generated_uid", "updated_at") VALUES (...)
I have confirmed that the postgres server for collab is running and I am able to connect to it through a Database Utility. I can also verify through this database utility that the Wiki is in tact. I do not know where else to go form here or if the errors I am seeing are not related to the wiki.
I am open to any possible assistance through this endeavor. I am running a Mac OS X server version 10.7.5.

Thank you so much. I deleted all of the Netflix history and the cookie. and it works fine now. Thank you again.

i downloaded the icloud to my pc it says to login with apple id and it says it is a valid apple id but not cloud but i cannot get the control panel for icloud to come up to set it up on my pc which runs windows 8

    An update.
From iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1 for Windows
"iCloud Control Panel 2.1 and later includes support for Windows 8"
but you still need to set it up on a Mac or iOS device, "Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."

  • I dropped my computer and the screen cracked and now I can't see anything. I am using an adapter to hook it up to a monitor to see if the computer still works. All I see is the welcome screen without the login window. How do I bring that up to log in????

So yeah, I dropped my computer and nothing comes up. I'm using an apdapter to use a monitor I have to see if the computer still works. It shows the default picture of Leopard galaxy thingy but the login window doesn't come up so i can log in. What do I do????

I assume this is due to the fact that system detects your internal monitor as default one, and that is there where system sends main data. In order to force system send data to the external monitor, get a mouse and physical keyboard, close MB lid, and then press any key on the external keyboard.
when you get there, go to system preferences/display, and manually move the Apple upper bar to the external monitor, then choose mirror; ultimately, set optimal resolution.

  • Upgrade to Yosemite cause weird dual screen mirror on login only

I just upgraded (and also tried a fresh install to an external drive with the same results) to Yosemite from Mavericks. When I start the MPB I get the apple and the thermometer (white fill in bar) every time I reboot after a complete shutdown. Then, the login screen is mirrored on the external monitor and LCD in a non wide screen resolution (looks like 1024x768). After I log in it looks ok but this doesn't happen with Mavericks. I just got this MBP Jan 2014. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also tried cmd-opt-p-r.

A friend just told me the apple/thermometer is normal for Yosemite so ignore that part.

Just so that you know for the next time, when you give us a URL, there is no need to post your code. This is by far the most preferred method for obtaining our assistance.
Having said that, place the fillowing in the HEAD section of your document, ensuring that you do have the file in that location
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryDOMUtils.js"></script>
Then, near the bottom of the page within the same SCRIPT content as your constructor(s), place the following code
    Spry.$$(".AccordionPanelBot").addEventListener("click", function(){
             Accordion1.closePanel();
The Spry Element Selector (Spry.$$) requires SpryDOMUtils.js. Here we place an event listener to your last tab with a class name of AccordionPanelBot, which when clicked will close the currently open panel(s).
    I hope this helps.

  • I have iCloud installed on my PC, but can't find it in the control panel.

I have downloaded and installed the app twice.  The directions given by Apple say to look at Network and Internet in the control panel, but there is nothing named that in Windows 7.  I've looked in Network and Sharing, Internet Options, Remoteapp and Desktop Connections--the most obvious substitutions--and none of them show iCloud.  What should I do next?

There were a lot of Apple KB changes/additions last week:

  • Why is the Kuler panel not syncing in Illustrator CC?

I love using the Kuler panel in illustrator but I downloded the new CC version and my color panel will not load my themes or allow me to browse other Kuler sets.  Here is what I am seeing:
Then when I click on the Download My Themes button I get this:
Now I know I am not offline becasue I can still go on to the Kuler website and get themes  and my login apears in the box above the Download button.
So how do I browse themse and get them in to Illustrator with in the application?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Sorry if this sounds like something you've already checked, but I need to ask - is your Adobe ID and the credential to enter the Kuler website the same? If they are, you should be able to browse your themes, and the public themes that you have liked.
Nevertheless, I'm checking with the team if there is anything else that could cause Illustrator CC to not download your themes and show you that error message.
    Cheers,
    David

  • How do i get the password panel to come up??

the only help i get drom apple is tro go to a dealer and pay for a new hard drive

    That's kind of nuts.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts  or Users & Groups
Turn off the auto-login feature.  This will allow you to get the password panel on startup.

  • Graphical glitch during the login process on Lion

    Hi there,
After entering my password at the login screen, it fades to blue for about two seconds, then shows the login screen again for a brief second before transitioning to my desktop. I thought this was normal until seeing how Lion launches on other computers.
