Mirroring on a macbook air

Alrighty I have a macbook air bought in January.
have mac os lion 10.8
i have a apple TV black
i cant get the mirroring to happen?
any suggestions?
Peace

I have the same problem.
Just paid for and installed Mountain Lion so that I can do mirroring on the apple TV and it's not being detected.
The apple TV can see iTunes on the Mac but the mirroring logo doesn't appear on the mac.
The air was purchased at the end of December 2011 and is the top end i7 processor with 256GB SSD.

    No.
    You can only use Airplay.

  • TS5150 I got my Apple TV a year ago as gift. I was mirroring from my Macbook Air ok until today.  I can mirror video but the sound stay on my Mac.

When I use Airplay, I can mirror video from my Macbook Air but there was no sound from TV (the sound on my Air still on).  I had use my Mac to do Airplay for six months without problem until now. My wife can use her iPad-4 to watch TV with Airply fine without the sound problem.  My Macbook Air was purchased in summer of 2011 running Marverick at the moment.  Can you help?

Welcome to the Apple Community psalay.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
        1.    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
        2.    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
        3.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
        4.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        5.    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
        6.    Restart your mobile device.

I've just bought a Macbook air running OS X Yosemite and i have been told that they can screen mirror without any wires or apple tv, but I don't have a clue how to get it going.
    please help

    Sure, here's the solution:
The "Share" button was introduced with Mountain Lion!  You should buy the Mountain Lion upgrade if your MacBook Air can handle it.

  • Mirroring on my Macbook Air

I cant find the mirroring option on my Macbook Air.  I have a mid 2012 model.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You are using OS X Lion, and AirPlay Mirroring needs OS X Mountain Lion. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
To use it, you can keep OS X Lion and use an application like AirParrot or Beamer. Another option is to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion or wait for Mavericks, so you won't have to use any third-party application

  • Mirror iphone to MacBook Air over wired connection?

I am looking to mirror my iphone to my MacBook Air without wifi or Bluetooth, as my wireless provider has blocked wireless hotspots on my phone. In order to connect the Mac to the iphone over Bluetooth, wireless hotspot has to be enabled. I would like to use a wired connection. Is this possible?

    No such feature currently exists.
Based on the description, mirroring is not what is truly desired.

I'm suffering from a reconnection problem which impacts my ability to use mirroring of my Macbook Air display on my iMac display. Both are using Yosemite OS and sharing the same bluetooth peripherals via the iMac. This did not happen much before Yosemite but I get a Reconnecting display about once every 15-20 minutes now when I am accessing my macbook in a session. Connection to the Macbook Air via a Thunderbolt cable also seems a little flaky, may or may not connect. Often improved by opening (waking) up the macbook if no response. Occasionally I get a Failed to Authenticate Macbook Air error which appears to be a hard error, typically after not having been using the laptop for sometime, e.g. overnight!

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Macbook air & airplay support

I have configured Apple TV and I know it works as I can play content from both my Iphone 5S and IPAD2, but I can not play content from my Macbook Air, When I look at the System Settings >Display.  I do not see any Airplay options. I assume that this is because the MacBook Air I have does not support Airplay, how do I confirm this and is this a hardware support or software support issue ?

Read this: About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support

Your MacBook Air might not be compatible with Airplay Mirroring but you can still try to use Airplay with iTunes:

  • Conectar Macbook air al Apple tv

HOLA,   QUISIERA SABER COMO CONETAR MI ORDENADOR AL APPLE TV PARA DUPLICAR LA PANTALLA,  NO ME DA LA OPCION Y QUISIERA SABER SI ACTUALIZANDOLO A LA ULTIMA VERSION DE MOUNTAIN LION ES POSIBLE.  MI MACBOOK ES DE 2011 CON VERSION 10.7.5.  GRACIAS

    Bienvenido

  • Airplay on MacBook Air

I DON'T HAVE AN APPLE TV
    WHAT I HAVE ARE
    1.  MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012)
    2. iPhone 5
         Model = MD297HN/A
         Version = 6.1.4 (10B350)
I have a broadband connection with a wifi Modem to which I connect both my devices.
I want to see the iPhone mobile screen on the Mac
    What I do:
    1. I log on to the wifi router from my iPhone
    2. I logn on to the wifi router from MacBookAir
    WHAT HAPPENS
@ iPhone:  AT TIMES THE IPHONE SHOWS THE "Airplay" icon when the home button is pressed. (THIS IS ANYWAY ARBITRARY. I TRIED DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS AND COULD NOT DEDUCE WHEN IT SHOWS AND WHEN NOT "EVEN WHEN IT IS SEAMLESSLY CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER AND LIVE ON INTERNET"
@ MacBookAir: Does not show the "Airplay" icon in the menu bar NOR in itunes.
    MY QUESTION:
EVEN AS I AM HAVING AN iPhone AND A MacBook Air WHICH ACCORDING TO APPLE WEBSITE CAN COMMUNICATE THROUGH "AirPlay" WHY AM I NOT ABLE TO DO IT?
NOTE: THIS IS WHAT "APPLE SUPPORT " WEBSITE TOLD ME
Requirements for AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion
    An Apple TV
Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software update v5.0 or later. See How to update Apple TV software.
Supported MacsAirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion takes advantage of the hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. Hardware video encoding allows AirPlay Mirroring to efficiently deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models have processors that support AirPlay Mirroring:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    Which Mac do I have?
    A network
AirPlay Mirroring requires either a Wi-Fi (802.11 a/g/n) connection or an Ethernet connection to the same local network that your Apple TV uses.
HUMBLE REQUEST   With the information given above, experts are humbly requested not to ask me
    1. What is your Apple TV Model (I don't have one)
    2. Are you connected to the same router on both the device (expalined above)
    3. Have you checked whether the devices are compatible (Apple support tells me they are, as above)
    4. You have to slide past the music play buttons beyond the "portrait lock screen icon" to see the Airplay button (All that and more have already been done.)
    5. Look at the iTune screen on your MacBook Air to see the Airplay (I have already clarified these above)
The problem is very serious. If I am not able to MIRROR MY IPHONE SCREEN ON TO MY MACBOOKAIR in spite of having devices as per Apple specifications, and performing as per Apple instructions, then Apple is cheating me.
