Mirroring Vizio with RocketFish HDMI adapter down again

I've been happily mirroring my Vizio 50" monitor for a while with RocketFish's MDP to HDMI.
Three Mavericks updates ago it stopped working.
Two updates ago it was working again, in fact so well when we turned on the TV it made the iMac flicker.
Last update killed it again.
The dongle and wires are fine as I'm sure there's some tricky, stand-on-you-left-foot-face-south-turn-on-this-then-turn-on-that thing I need to do!
I unchecked Mission Control's "Displays have seperate Spaces" and it helped once.
I'm at my wits end with this.

The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be for FREE!
Ciao.

  • Am i the only one with a HDMI adapter no longer working ?

Hi. I own an Iphone 4 running ios 5.1.1. I used to be able to watch a video using my HDMI adapter when i was running ios 5.0.
But i recently wanted to use it and i saw it would not work at all !!! I was running ios 5.0.1. Then i thought i should update my iphone to make it work again, but in vain, my adapter seems to work no more... I of course tried to restore my iphone and checked my hdmi cable. Am i the only one or am i the choosen one like neo ? Thank you !

    first of all
apple don't read or write here so they will never "say anythign" here or read your posts
this is a user helping user forum only
you can get their ear using the feedback
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
don't own the hdmi adapter but got the component and composite ones and they work fine with my iphone4 with latests os
what I would do if I was me
first step of troubleshooting would be to reboot the phone
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/#section_1
second step then I would try another ios device that is supported with the device (of cause only iphone4s and ipad2 and up support mirror so for testing I use youtube as I know that support the tv out feature)
trying out the other ios device would rule out that the cable is damaged and you just happend to notice around the time you updated os
third step I would try other devices that use the pin30 cable to see if the connector in the iphone was damaged

  • I have always been able to connect my Ipad to the tv with the HDMI adapter but since most recent software update it does not work.  Is it me or has others expeirenced this?

I have tried to stream movies and live TV using my HDMI adapter and cable .  I have always had it work but with the most recent update it no longer will connect.  I hope someone has a good solution.

    It still works for me.
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • Hey Guys, from Germany. I want to connect my iMac 21" with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know, how it works. With a Hdmi adapter?

Hey guys! I want to connect my Imac 21 " with my Tv just for fun. Does anyone know , how it works?

Selecting the correct adapter and cable depends on which year model iMac you have and what inputs the TV has?
Check the User's Guide that came with your iMac or your Spec's at > Apple - Support - Technical Specifications
to see if your iMac has a Mini-DVI or Mini DisplayPort and then select that adapter with the correct connection for the TV.
Example: if you have a 2010 or 2011 iMac and an HDMI ready TV, then you would want the > Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • Ipod 4th gen had no picture with AV hdmi adapter

I've got the apple 30pin to hdmi adapter, and it works great on the iphone 4/4s and ipad2 to the TV.
When I connect it to our daughter's ipod (4th gen) there is sound with no picture on the TV. The ipod recognises the adapter as it appeas the the setting/about and is identified as an apple AV adapter.
Is there a setting somewhere that's needed to get the hdmi video out enabled? The same ipod works fine on a small bedroom tv with built in docking station for videos.

No app yet, the other devices show the main menu or home screen with all the icons, even the slide to unlock appears on the TV, or games have exactly the same as the touchscreen shows.
    The ipad2 is still ios5, the iphone4s is ios6.
I've also tried another ipod touch 4th gen, doesn't work with ios5 or ios6 on two different ipods.

  • No choice of sound output with lightning HDMI adapter connected.

When the lightning HDMI adapter is plugged in, sound is piped through HDMI but I want the option to have the sound come through the iPad speaker, because the mini projector I use has only a 1 Watt speaker built-in, and the iPad sound is louder.  Anyone figure out how to choose speaker output?

I don't believe that is possible.
Does the projector have an audio output jack to connect powered speakers?

  • Problem with lightning hdmi adapter

I Just got a new lightning digital av adapter To connect my iphone 6 plus to my tv.  Initially it was working great, then I received a phone call.. Since then nothing. The little blue bar comes up on the top of my iphone screen for a few seconds, then it goes away. If I try watching any video, it displays only on my phone screen. Tried connecting to my ipad mini, and it worked just fine. I'm sure there's a simple solution but I'm stumped.  Help would be much appreciated.

  • Skype to tv via ipad2 using hdmi adapter?

Is it possible to Skype to tv via ipad2 using hdmi adapter? I'm caring 4 my 94 yr old father who has low vision & was hoping we could buy the hdmi adapter to use Skype on his larger screen tv. He has the Skype app on his tv but for what limited use we'd have don't want to have to buy a tv camera. Tnx for any suggestions,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have been using Skype iPad connected to a nearby monitor via HDMI for about a year. Video is mirrored but, with the HDMI adapter, sound is only on the monitor. Recently, I have started having jitter in the sound on about four out of five calls. Cannot tell if the call will be alright until it is answered. If I restart the call enough times, I can make it go away. If I unplug the (iPad to) HDMI adapter, the sound is clear. Re-installing the Skype app did not help. Any ideas? Any hope?

  • How to use tv as a monitor with HDMI adapter

with the HDMI adapter to thunderbolt plug the tv will display what is on my laptop monitor but only if I drag the screen to like 5 times its normal size. is there a way to just make it automaticly fit the tv everytime I want to use it as my monitor. I would like to be able to look at my laptop screen and also look at my tv and see the same image.  If I don't enlarge the screen the only image that is visible on the tv is the desktop image backgound.

    Hi s,
I'm not on Lion, so it could be different, but on SL, there are two choices, Mirror or Extended Desktop. Open System Preferences > Displays and see which one works better for you. You can also set the display pref so it shows in the menu bar.
Mirror means same as what you see on your built in display, including resolution.
Extended desktop allows you to use higher resolution on the TV, so I'd think that's what you'd want.

  • My iPad doesn't seem to work with the hdmi connector

I have a first gen iPad and I can't get it to display with the hdmi adapter.  My iPad 2seems to work fine.  I thought it worked for both gens.

It should work for both generations.  It won't mirror with the iPad1, but it should play videos.  My iPad1 DID play videos - for a week or two.  Then it quit working with the HDMI adapter.  Still behaves as before with the Component adapter.  Nothing wrong with the cables, tv, etc.  Aftyer ruling out all else, I exchanged the Apple HDMI adaprter for a new one - same thing.  My iPad1 now has no idea there is an external tv/display connected when using the HDMI adapter.  I suspect my mistake was in updating the iPad to the newest iOS software release.  I'll bet this is what broke it.  The question is:  Will this bug be fixed, or is this new non-compliance going to be considered by Apple to be a  'feature'?

  • IPad 2 HDMI Adapter - Max Cable Distance

I work as a A/V Specialist at a local university. Currently we are running the majority of new projectors with HDMI. Since the iPad 2 has come out with its mirroring feature via the HDMI adapter, professors want to be able to plug their iPads into our projectors. The problem I seem to be facing is that if the cable is long (which most of them are longer than 25ft), it doesn't work. It will work on a 2 meter HDMI though. I just don't have a lot of lengths to test with and was wondering if someone knew if there was a max length for the HDMI cable. It makes sense that the iPad most likely doesn't push a lot of power out of the port being a mobile device.
My next question is, has anyone tried some sort of HDMI power injector to get over the distance problem and been successful? If so, I would appreciate knowing what model you used.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jonathan

Using a generic 10ft HDMI cable for the IPad2 with the HDMI adapter from Apple is working for me (destination is .  On occasion it loses the audio.  Stopping and starting the video player usually brings the audio back.  The audio sometimes works at first and then randomly fails.  I suspected imperceptible movement between the stiff HDMI cable, the adapter, and IPad2.  Securing the wires to relieve strain relative to the IPad2 appears to have helped, but that means the device cannot be moved around freely.  (Why audio would drop instead of high bandwidth video or both signals, I have no idea.)

  • Can i mirror iphone4 with apple tv

i have iphone4 can i mirror my phone by using apple tv airplay

Only the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will work with the Apple TV Airplay (wireless) feature.  They are also the only ones that will "mirror" when using the HDMI adapter when plugged into an HDMI monitor.  Of course, the second one requires the iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to be tethered to the monitor.

  • May the HDMI adapter be the cause of freezing on the TV?

I have my iPad 4 connected to the TV by using a lightning to HDMI adapter and noticed that sometimes the content being displayed on the TV freezes for a few seconds while the iPad is displaying it normally, so they all of a sudden get desynchronized until the TV finally catches up to the iPad.
I was actually thinking that has to do with the HDMI adapter due to all the transcoding involved which is done by this little device that is more like a mini computer. In fact, I read in some other discussion out there that Apple was going to improve the performance of this device through firmware updates, which would supposedly be in the next iOS versions.
I know this may not sound like a big deal, but I'm actually using the iPad for business purposes so it's very important that the content being displayed on the TV does not freeze.
BTW, the content being relayed from the iPad to the TV is an app called Boxtastic, and the specific content that freezing is a countdown timer.
With that being said, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
Thank you so much in advance, and sorry if this sounds like a dummy question (I'm kinda nubbie in this video world).
    Best!

I guess if I were to switch over to a 4:3 TV, another issue will be that there's no HDMI port on the TV...
I guess Apple is really trying to be funny....
Lucky I didn't purchase the $148 Apple TV... I paid $68 for the adapter.
Guess I will have to write-in to Apple and ask them either to fix this issue or let me get a refund for this adapter....
