"Mirrors" folder in my Library - What is this for?

Hello. In my Library there is a folder called "Mirrors" (~/Library/Mirrors). It contains a .dmg file that is almost 16GB is size. Not an issue on my PowerBook, but on my older G3 iMac it is almost half the hard drive space. Does any one know what this file is and if it can be trimmed down?
Thanks in advance!

Could be corrution.
How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

    That is the orientation lock indicator. It means that you phone will not go into landscape mode when tilted on it's side.
    To turn orientation lock off double tap the home button, to access the multitasking menu, then swipe your finger to the right over the multitasking bar at the bottom and touch the big button on the left with the padlock.

    Battery does not appear to charge
    Important: iPod touch cannot be charged with a FireWire-based power source.
    Verify that the power source being used is working properly.
    If connecting to a computer's USB port, verify it is a high-powered USB 2.0 port. Note: The USB ports on most keyboards don't provide enough power, so if you're connecting iPod touch to a keyboard, make sure it has a high-powered USB 2.0 port.
    Verify the computer is turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPod touch is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPod touch battery may drain.
    Try another USB port.
    Try charging from a USB charger if available.
    If that does not help, try another USB cable if available.
    Learn more about charging the battery.
    The Home button isn't working
    Put the iPod Touch to sleep.
    Wait a couple of seconds.
    Press the Home button.
    iPod Touch should wake up.
    If iPod Touch does not wake up, then iPod Touch should be serviced.

  • Mirror Agent not shutting down - what is this?

    Hello - Does anyone know what Mirror Agent is? In the last week when I try to shut down a time out pops up w/ - Mirror agent has failed to log out so the shut down is canceled. This is probably not the right forum but can anyone direct me to the correct forum? Thank you in advance. Tami

    Mirror agent is the "sync" feature of iDisk.
    A mirror is a "reflection" of the files your are trying to "sync".
    You can turn synching off in the MobileMe System Preference pane / iDisk tab.

  • A black triangle comes up when I try to edit a picture from i photo ---how do I get rid of this and what does it mean?library--what does this mean and how do I get rid of it?

    A black triangle come up in i photo when I try to edit a picture from my library.  I don't know what it means or how to get rid of it?  Thanks for
    any help.

    In iTunes, click on "iTunes" in the menu bar, then on "About iTunes". Which version do you have?
    If you are running OS X 10.5.8 (as per your signature), the iTunes 10.6.3 is the latest you can install and use. If your iTunes version is older, you can get that 10.6.3 here and see if it can deal with the library.
    The latest iTunes, version 10.7, requires OS X 10.6.8 or newer. Unless your signature is wrong and you run a late Snow Leopard, Lion or even Mountain Lion, it won't work for you, and you could add me to the list of people asking the same question as Allan, "where's that library from?".

  • Technical data records? What's this???

    Hello,
    we are on BI7.0.
    I have master data for customer. One customer has as a key 0101010101.
    When I want to maintain this record it is only possible when the check-box "Display technical data records" is activated.
    Questions
    Why?
    What is this for a checkbox? The online-help does not bring light on that topic. Any idea?

    Hi,
    Let me take you back to the context help.  It says:
    Some SAP BW components generate artificial characteristic values with corresponding SIDs. These characteristic values do not have master data or texts but only a SID and are called technical master data values.
    If a characteristic does not have attributes and the texts of the characteristic are deleted, you have to set the indicator for subsequent maintenance (new entry) of texts.
    The second paragraph makes it pretty clear.  If just the key characteristic value exists, and the master data table does not contain any attributes and there is no text maintained, then the characterisitc value becomes a technical master data value and will only be called up for maintenance if this flag is checked.
    Why don't you try and maintain this customer's text and save.  Now run master data maintenance with this flag unchecked; you should be able to see it.
    Cheers...

  • What is this extra cable that comes with MBP?

    I just got my MBP today and it came with two AC cables. One is the magsafe whcih is what i;m already using, but it also came with another cord. this one is a lot thicker and it is 3-prong. what is this for? i can't find a slot on the magsafe of the MBP that apparently fits it. thanks

    hey, i think that it is the extension for the magsafe adapter, if you grab the part of the magsafe where it plugs into the wall you should be able to slide it off with a little force, you can then slide the extension on and it will be much longer. hope that helps!

  • Creating an entitlement using OIM API - what is lookupkey for?

    Hi
    I am trying this code
    ApplicationInstanceService appService = oimClient.getService(ApplicationInstanceService.class);
    ApplicationInstance appInstance = appService.findApplicationInstanceByName("MyAppInstance");
    EntitlementService entSvc = oimClient.getService(EntitlementService.class);
    Entitlement ent = new Entitlement();
    ent.setObjectKey(appInstance.getObjectKey());
    ent.setFormKey(appInstance.getChildForms().get(0).getFormKey());
    ent.setFormFieldKey(appInstance.getChildForms().get(0).getFormFields().get(0).getFldKey());
    ent.setItResourceKey(appInstance.getItResourceKey());
    ent.setEntitlementCode("MNEC2");
    ent.setEntitlementValue("MyNewEntitlementValue2");
    ent.setDisplayName("MyNewEntitlementName2");
    ent.setDescription("MyNewEntitlementDesc2");
    ent.setLookupValueKey(1);//have no idea what is this for
    ent.setValid(true);
    entSvc.addEntitlement(ent);
    code works great, but what should be the lookupValueKey and what is it for?

    The overall process that is supposed to happen OOTB is this:
    1.  On a child table form, one of the fields is marked as Entitlement = True
    2.  Populate your lookup with Entitlement Values (example is the Active Directory Group Recon Lookup scheduled task)
    3.  Run the Entitlement List scheduled task.  This will check all form entries that have entitlement = true to retrieve the list of values and populate the ENT_LIST table with this values (or update any new or set IS_VALID=0 for any that were removed)
    4.  Catalog Synchronization scheduled task will populate the values into the Catalog
    The lookup value key is the LKV_KEY value that is tied to an entry in the lookup.  This is what ties the ENT_LIST table to the LKV table.

  • HT1449 This was somewhat informative, but what happens after you receive the  "The folder containing "iTunes Library" cannot be found, and is required. Please choose or create a new iTunes library,"? I ran through all the steps, received this message. Now

Received the message "The folder containing "iTunes Library" cannot be found, and is required. • User/library/mirror folder

    can anyone tell me what this folder is for (user/library/mirror)? i have a 17" G4 powerbook and dual 2.7 GHz G5 desktop. my powerbook hard drive was full so i backed up the entire drive and did a complete hard drive wipe then reinstalled only the applications and files i needed but found that there was still about 30 GB of "stuff" in this folder hence my drive was still pretty full. i then removed all of my documents that i could get by without (about 10 GB). then one day i noticed that the mirror folder was empty and i have plenty of storage space again.
    now my G5 hard drive is maxed out (400 GB) and there is 300 GB of "stuff" the the mirror folder just like my powerbook. i have called apple support and the tech i spoke to could not tell me what that folder is. i then went to the genius bar at an apple store and again no luck.
    it seems this folder is some sort of back up or copy of the entire hard drive. it is empty on my power book and it works great. can this folder be purged from time to time?
    thanks for the help,

      Mac OS X (10.4.6)
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Do you access your iDisk contents on a regular basis?
    Do you have have an always on internet connection?
    If so and your internet access is reliable, there is no reason to keep a copy of your iDisk locally on the hard drive.
    Unless you have a reason for doing so, I would turn off iDisk Syncing.
    I'm not sure why the Mirror folder is becoming so large over short period of time but I would turn off iDisk Syncing as a test to see if it resolves the Mirror folder growing in size over time.
