Misbehaving Ap 2.1 all of a sudden

After extolling 2.1's usefulness even on my modest setup, I've found it has begun to play up, after a couple of months of stable (not lightning fast but ok) usage, every day, no problems or crashes whatsoever.
It crashed yesterday. It was the only app running. It now spends forever generating fresh thumbnails, when I access any project beyond the latest one. Nothing else has changed on the system, there's plenty of storage space, and no new installations on this computer. The library is about 100gb, managed on internal, and Vaulted to external - basic setup really, used each morning and night. I thought these bugs had been ironed-out in 2.1 after the disaster (for some of us) of 2.0 and 2.01.
I'm aware that one could rebuild library, delete plist etc. But I don't feel pro apps should be timebombed this way, and I don't have time to waste on this kind of thing in future, so the dreaded world of Lightroom beckons. What I'm interested in is an explanation of why this happens. Can anyone here offer such an explanation?

Basically, I've done further trials to what I detailed in that post and have found that if I have a managed library, AP starts up in a flash. If I relocate masters to be referenced, it can take forever before the splash screen clears and the main interface comes up. More than that, in some cases it has just hung completely; so much so that I've had to restart the machine to clear everything down. I have rebuilt the database ad infinitum; I have tried creating a brand new library and importing projects one by one to try and isolate the issue with no success. I've even completely rebuilt my Mac Pro system (for a totally unrelated reason) but the AP issue continues. Added to that is the fact that in my latest project, a metadata entry that I put in the Special Instructions IPTC field just disappeared in front of my eyes (and I mean as I actually watched), with the result that two smart albums were now completely empty and I have no record of which images were marked with that label.
As the main poster here has stated, LR beckons. I've always kept an eye on LR developments and whilst this has been going on I have given it a general going over and frankly, it just works. Now this all leaves me with a dilemna. I actually prefer the AP RAW conversions of my NEF files to both LR and Capture NX (including 2). I find the tools are far more flexible. I love the interface and I love the workflow flexibility. But I don't have the time to be trying to correct what appear to be database errors. If AP is a professional app, then we have to have total confidence in the database strength. Right now, I don't have that confidence - I'm sure others do, and that's fine.
I'm not wishing to knock AP; I love the app and would give anything to continue using it, especially given the time invested in it over the years. But right now I feel that I'm always going to be nervous that the database is going to get screwed again in the future.
I shall persevere for the moment; I'm in IT myself and have been following what I believe to be a very methodical process to try and troubleshoot this; nonetheless I'll gladly try any suggestions that you guys wish to throw at me. But soon I'm going to have to make a decision as this is eating up my time currently. If I do decide to jump ship, I shall be extremely sad. Apart from my preference for the RAW conversions, I feel that AP as a workflow tool has a completeness that LR doesn't currently have. Nonetheless, that's no good to me if I can't rely on its stability.

You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #58042 on A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac.
Do you have access to another Mac? You may want to backing up your files via Target Disk Mode (TDM) as well as running some utilities (Knowledge Base Document #58583 on How to use FireWire target disk mode.
You may want to invest in a utility like DiskWarrior from Alsoft. It is great for troubleshooting drive malfunctions.
As said before, you may also want to bring your iBook to your local Apple Store/Reseller.

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and all of a sudden they wont open and an error message comes up saying they were improperly downloaded or came in an email attach which is not the case

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and I have used them several times and all of a sudden they wont open. I received an error message saying they are improperly downloaded or came as an email attachement which is not the case. Please advise

They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen. I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF
I just created a new document response.doc in word and when I saved to my desktop it appears as a PDF file and I absolutely did not create a PDF or save as PDF it was a simple word
doc.
The message says "Adobe reader could not open response.doc because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example attached in an email and not properly decoded)
The reader version is I believe the most current, I always update when prompted. OS is Windows 8

Do you mean, you have been creating a Photo Book in iPhoto? Or an iBook in iBook Author?
If you are asking about a photo book in iPhoto, what was the last you did in iPhoto, before the crash happened? Did you add a page with a map?
Then you may have a problem with a bug, where adding a route to a map may render the book unreadable. In that case the best option is to restore the iPhoto library from the last backup you made, before you added the map to the book.
It is not possible to open the book and to delete the unreadable page. You can only delete the book and start over, if this bug is the reason for the crashes. See for example this link: Getting rid of problem photo book

Quit the editor (Quit PSE on a mac). Then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

My time capsule all of a sudden disconnected from the wireless system and can no longer be fund by my MacBook Pro. The little lamp on the the capsules has turned off, but it still makes a noice inside,

My Time capsule did a backup yesterday in the morning without any problem. All of a sudden, it disconnected from the wireles system last night and the little indicator lamp turned off. It still makes a noice, as if a disc was turning inside. The Time Capsule was bought last year in June. Any suggestiom what to do? What happens if I press the little buttom (reset?), will I loose af my backup?

Do a reset.. power off the TC..
Hold in reset and power on.. keep holding in reset until it flashes rapidly.. if it turns on at all.
If you bought it in June.. take it back today.. it is broken.. at a guess.
Some Gen4 are failing this way.. get Apple to replace it.. even if it is a few days out of warranty it won't be much.

All of a sudden I can no longer toggle or clip angles in multiclip sequence

Hi,
I've got a project with a number of sequences, videos, angles, etc and all of a sudden I can no longer toggle between angles in the sequence timeline. It was working last night and then stopped and it's still unresponsive. Every time I click to switch an angle or cut to an angle I get the alert beep.
I am not out of disk space and haven't changed any settings as far as I am aware of.

Not sure what the deal is...have you added any new software or upgraded/updated anything since this started?
Have you tried opening an autosave version, to see if it works there?
Trashed prefs, run disk utility?
I'm not sure I've ever heard an 'alert beep', so would wonder if the drive is failing.
Can you be a little more explicit about exactly how it 'stopped working'...were you right in the middle of working on it, or had you stepped away for a bit?
Have you tried shutting down, then rebooting after 15-20 minutes?

In my small office ethernet network all of a sudden one of my imacs cannot be connected to. It can connect to all other computers and can access internet, but as soon as someone tries to connect to that mac, it disconnects from the network. Any ideas

I have a network of 9 macs that connect via ethernet and a router. All of a sudden one of the macs cannot be connected to. It can connect to all others and the internet, but no one can connect to that one. I have appletalk active and file sharing on, but everytime someone tries to connect to it, it is not on the network. Additionally, the personal file sharing keeps turning off even though I have it locked. Any ideas?

HP Officejet Pro 8600a all of a sudden is not recognized by only my computer in the house

Hi, I have 4 laptops in my house. We have all been connected wirelessly to my HP printer for over a year. All of a sudden, for some reason, my computer no longer sees the printer. I have an ASUS. I run Windows 7 with Windows Firewall. My router is a 3 month old Linksys EA3500. I can print from every other printer in the house, and I can also print from my Android Phone. However, when I try to print from my laptop, it now says that it is detecting printer has been turned off. I have done everything I can think of to fix this. The only changes I recently made were installing Webroot AV program. I can't be 100% certain, but i'm pretty sure I have printed since that installation, and all of the other computers on my network are using Webroot as well with no issues. Hoping for some help. Here's what I've done so far:
Tried troubleshooting printer via computer. It's gone through the spool service check and whatever else the standard troubleshooting does. It said something about my printer being turned off. It definitely was not, but I unplugged and restarted just to be sure. No fix.
Noticed IP changed on printer and thought maybe something with static vs dynamic (don't know much about this) so went to "update IP address" on my laptop and updated the info. Checked the router settings info by entering printer's ip in browser. Printer shows connected and ready and all looks good. I pinged the ip and got results. Mac filtering is not enabled so I don't need to deal with that. SSID is not hidden. The 802.11 configuration says that the network type is WPA-PSK with WPA2 and AES selected for encryption. Same as it always has been.
Double checked to make sure printer was recognizable by my firewall. It is on the accepted list.
Last resort: I uninstalled the printer software and deleted the device from my laptop. Attempted reinstall, but when it gets to the part where it's supposed to search for the printer it says unable to find. I enter the IP address from the printer and it still cannot find. I enter the host name and it still can't find. Since I uninstalled everything, I can no longer install the printer at all.
Went to drivers on line and tried using the install via online option. same results. "unable to find printer".
I unpugged the printer from the wall again, this time for over an hour, hoping it would reset but realizing this probabaly isn't the issue since every other laptop can print in my house.
Tried to connect ethernet cable and install printer that way. Plugged one end into router and other into printer as directed on troubleshooting tips. Ran Disk software and it doesn't install the printer. IP address changes on printer when I use ethernet and I am entering new ip accordingly.
Reset my modem and restarted. Reinitialized my router and then used the software to reconfigure it. did the standard 'wait ten seconds and plug everything back in and reboot computer'. No fix.
Checked my wireless network adapter setting to make sure I have most updated drivers. I do.
Deleted every single thing that relates to my printer in every folder and in regedit.
Tried reinstalling printer both wirelessly and with ethernet. Still unable to find printer either way.
I have changed no settings that I can think of since the printer last worked a few weeks ago. As I said, every other computer prints perfectly. The only thing I can think that's different is that all the oher laptops are running Windows 8 and I'm still on 7, but that didn't matter before, and I can print from the HP print software on my phone.
Please somebody tell me what I'm missing here. I'm going bonkers. Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to reply on this support forum.

Then let's give this a shot.
These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.
1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
   This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers. Verify your DHCP range and change this
   first if needed. More Wireless Printing help is here (Windows solution 4, static IP).
2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
   printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click Settings Tab/Auto Off. Or use the Printer
   Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
3. If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, turn off IPv6 in the printer.
4. If needed and you assigned a static IP address, try using 8.8.8.8 for the Manual DNS server and
     8.8.4.4 preferred DNS server.
In the router: (Refer to your router manual for information)
5. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
6. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
7. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
8. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security. Nobody can hack your
   system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
9. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
   they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
10. SSID broadcast must be enabled.
11. Save all settings. Power off both, wait 2 mins. Power on router wait 2 mins.
12. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
Anyone???

Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden

Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden. Not just for the website I was working on but now all my websites. It was working perfectly fine and when I hit publish it just crashes. I have multiple copies and different websites and they are all crashing when I try to publish. It seems like it is not an error for just the one website I was working on but the entire program is not functioning correctly. Here's a screen shot of the error.

Mac or Windows? What's the error that appears? If it's an Apple Crash Report, please copy/paste the first few pages of it here.
I strongly recommend against it (for multiple reasons below) but if you uninstall Muse, then go to the Creative Cloud Desktop App, and choose "Previous Version" in the Find New Apps section there will be a dropdown arrow next to the Install button. That dropdown will list all versions of Muse.
If you've saved over top your existing file using the current version, reverting Muse won't work, since older versions cannot open files saved from newer versions. If you've don't significant work in the current version, that will be lost because you'll have to go back to the file as last saved using the prior version of Muse. Finally, there's a significant probability that error/crash is related to content in the file, network configuration, or other outside forces and if that's the case reverting won't avoid the error/crash.
If you share more info about what error you're encountering, I expect we can determine a workaround/solution.

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

iPhone 5S: does anybody has this problem. During a successful voice call all of a sudden people can't hear me while I can hear them. Signal is strong and call quality (me hearing the other) is still very good but it looks as if I’m going on mute while I’m not muting my iPhone. When dropping the call and re-dialing it works fine again. It’s a brand new iPhone 5S but it now happened already 4 or 5 times in 2 days.
It feels like a hardware/iOS problem and not a network issue. It happend with iOS7.03 but I just see 7.0.4 is available so will install that one now.

Thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with the audio on your iPhone. I would be concerned too if the audio on my iPhone was not working unless using speaker phone. I found an article with some steps to take when you are experiencing issues like this:

Premiere Pro CS4. Green video all of a sudden 'application not responding'?

I was playing something in the timeline or whatever its called, and all of a sudden I get a green screen so I stop the video. I move to another part of the video to try playing there but I cant press play, there is only the square stop button in its place.
What is happening please someone help me?
