Misc. Text letters missing everywhere!!!!

Email messages all of a sudden missing first letters and they aren't consistent. Also, can't open Photoshop CS2 with an error "unrecoverable error something has prevented the text engine from being initialized" and Disk Utility hasn't fix it, help?
I'm just a designer, not a software guru.
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.
EDIT: Just check PS and see if it opens and any other app that is giving you issues. (Not necessary to check mail, you'll have to set up prefs again) It sounds like a font issue.

Text is missing in migo - excise invoice tab

Hi,
I'm doing migo with excise invoice tab option, where on the left, there are options like, capture & post, part1 only, no excise entry .etc..
In that area if i use F4 option, i can see both the fields i.e field nbr as 01 and text as capture and post, after selecting, the screen shows only 01 and text is missing.
pls suggest, how to get the short text in excise invoice tab.

Image text is missing in InDesign CS4

Hi everybody,
I am using InDesign CS4 with MAC OS X 10.5.8. I encountered a problem that the Text is missing in the eps image, when imported on InDesign document. Refer below screenshot.
I have used “Times New Roman” Type1 font in InDesign document. And for images I have used the same “Times New Roman” as OTF font. Refer below screenshots.

Here, I caught one more finding. If I save the image as Adobe Postscript as “Language Level 2”, I don’t have any text missing issue in InDesign document. But, if I save the image as “Language Level 3”, I found this missing text issue in the document. Refer below screenshots.
Could anyone hlep me what the exact issue. Any help is much appreciated!!

Yes Bob. This new thread was raised by me to explain the issue in detail.
Further to my analysis, I found that when I load the job fonts in “Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5/Fonts”, we got this text missing issue. And the same job fonts, when I load in “Users/<user_name>/Library/Fonts”, it showing correct.
Any thoughts?

Use of 'Subgroup text is missing' tab in ovt0/spro

Hi,
Can anybody please explain me what is the use of 'Subgroup text is missing' in tcode ovt0 . This tab is present in ECC 6.0 but not in 4.7.

Hi Sakti,
Kindly note that this error occurs when No fields are assigned to a group.
Therefore, with this clue you can check the corresponding table whether it contains the required field or not.
Also check the following SAP Note and see whether its releavnt in your case or not.

Saving as PDF from Photoshop Elemenst text is missing

I am saving a PSd as a PDF and the text is missing in the reader, but not in the original PSD, can anyone help?

Are you using adobe reader to view the pdf or the windows 8 built in pdf reader?
Is the text still there if you open the saved pdf back into the pse 10 editor using File>Open?

i downoad free psd for logo website. when i want edit in photoshop. i just see the diaog box say some layer text contain are missing.

Just substitute the missing font for one of the installed fonts. Or if you desperately want the text to look like your first saw it, hunt down the font and install it. There are various sites that help locate a particular font like Myfonts Identifont Whatfontis

Masterdata text is missing .

when i am doing reporting on the 0material Text for material is missing . so when i checked the maintain master for 0material . the text was missing where the language key was blank . after searching i found out that they are two languages one is ZH and other is EN . in ERP when they create a article they logon language was ZH , so in maintain master data i changed the Language key to ZH . then i was able to see the text . but when i keep EN or Blank the text is not apperiang .
So my question is how can i get the text for the EN or when blank also . so should i untick language Dependent in the infoobject . the user want language key to be blank . so when they do the reporting they should be able to see the text when launage isblank . Please provide me with solution this urjent . please do send your replies .

Hi,
Like you mention, you can either remove the language dependent component of your infoobject. In this case, language key in your source system will remain unmapped (since all your text is maintained in ZH lang, so I don't think this would be much issue).
Or in your transfer rules / transformation rules, you set 0langu to constant = 'EN'. So, the text maintaned in 'ZH' would be re-mapped to language = 'EN', which I assume is the default language for your BW setup.

Part of my text is missing in FF and IE..What to do?

This is the first time I have used Edge Animate....Seems pretty simple so far...I am finding it pretty simple so far.
I have created a simple line of text that fades in from left to right. In chrome, the HTML file looks great. I FF and IE, the last part of the line of text is missing!
Like I mentioned...I am a complete nebie.
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!

Hey, Seth-
It's hard for us to tell what's going on without seeing the file. However, it's possible that your text is rendering slightly larger than your bounding box in FF and IE, and is getting clipped or is moving to the next line. If your text is within a symbol, the text will get clipped if you set the overflow to hidden.
Hope that gives you some ideas. If you want us to take a look at it, please post your file.

Menu text is missing in LibreOffice, what can I do?

All menu text is missing in Libreoffice Calc, including submenus. What should I do to make them appear again? When I take a screenshot with command "scrot", menu texts are visible on the image. I am using an NVidia FX5200, with "nouveau" driver.

Are you using a theme package such as "libreoffice-gnome" or "libreoffice-kde4"?
What window manager are you using? Are you using a compositor?
Is this problem only in Calc?

When printing a document from a website found in a 4.0 Beta 12 Firefox search I get a print format were the text letters are 1/4th inches apart.

The issue I believed is Windows specific. It only appears to work correctly on a Windows XP system. I can get the keys to work on Windows 7 or Windows 8 system.

On Windows 8 there is a mnemonic Russian keyboard.
Unfortunately there are three letters which I can not find: щ, ч and э.
These three letters exist in the standard Russian keyboard. They are at the following location (in the US keyboard): o,x and '.
I also did a test on a Windows 7 machine running office 2013 and still the letters are missing as described.
The client explained without these three letters the mnemonic keyboard is useless

I think it is by design. You can use Preview to show the keyboard layout.

Occasional letters missing in pdf document created in Acrobat XI Pro

I have been working on a pdf document created from Indesign By Acrobat XI Pro that will be for online download. The first version was fine. Links had to be added and some of the text coloured. After edits occasional letters have gone missing throughout the document. Why on earth is this happening? I now have to go through the entire document with a fine toothcomb before submitting it to my client again. It doesn't make me look good!
Any ideas?

I suspect that you somehow deleted the embedding of the fonts. Check the document properties and be sure all fonts are embedded.

OS X help - filenames some letters missing; applications unexpectedly quit

I just received my Macbook last month, and now there is some kind of
software problem going on. After 2 days and several restarts, it
(crosses fingers) is working ok for the moment. But here is what was
happening:
- Some of the widgets disappeared from the dashboard (i.e. dictionary
and Rot Rox).
- Many of the letters were missing from things: like Finder was
"nder", shut down was "hut do", etc. this also affected other things
like webpages, etc
- iChat and Safari kept unexpectedly quitting
- everything ended up messing up and there was no text in the boxes
that would pop up on the screen.
Can you please tell me what was happening with my computer and what I
should do if this happens again???

to be honest i have no idea what happened to your mac. it could be various things like a bad harddisk or ram but i will try to give you some assistance.
- did you repair permissions in the disk utility?
- did you repair your harddisk from the install cd utility?
and if that won't help (thinking of oyur corrupted file names it won't) you could maybe try to do an archive and install from your install cds. this installs the mac os again but preserves your user settings / or a normal install which wipes your hd.
...and if that won't help i guess you'll have to bring your macbook to an apple store to have them check it.
...but always make a backup of your important data!

Letters missing in menus

Hi all,
since yesterday I have the problem that in almost all apps random letters are missing in the userinterface or in text that I type. The whitespace for the letter is there but the actual letter isn't. When I take a screenshot, the letters are also missing
I am using a MacBook Pro with all updates installed.
Any thoughts?

P.S.: I actually just checked, and it seems that I am only missing the p's....

I have the same problem. Both times I repaired permissions and restarted and it went away but this is the second time in a week it's happened to me. I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with a bad font and I recently loaded suitcase fusion. Have you?

I noticed this, too, but found a "workaround" (until Nokia updates their firmware to include this function). USE the "Notes" APPLICATION, OPEN a “New Note”, then "touchpad" in the blank-lined area to start entering text. The default "mini QWERTY keyboard" will pop up (well, that's what I have set for my text input). In the lower right-hand corner of the "mini QWERTY keyboard" (also in the "Full Screen QWERTY keyboard" OR the "Handwriting keyboard", if you have either of these set for your default text input), there is a small image of a keyboard. When selected, a MENU pops up, allowing you to SELECT an option for an "ALPHANUMERIC KEYPAD" for text input into the "Notes" application. You can get the numerical correspondence for spelled-out phone numbers like 1-800-iLIKE-YOU (1-800-454-3968) [I don't know or care if that's a "real" number, I'm just using it here as an example] and can just remember them and input them manually into your “Dialer” application, or, you can “type” it directly into the blank “New Note” you already have open, SELECT and EDIT->COPY the number into the phone’s memory, then switch to the “Dialer” application (PRESS and HOLD the WHITE middle button on the lower touchpad until the "open items" display appears, allowing you to select the HOME or the previously-opened "Dialer" application), open the "Dialer" menu and EDIT->PASTE the previously-copied number into the “Dialer” application. Press the “Dial” function icon and the number will be appropriately dialed. Whew! It gets a little easier with practice, especially if you use the GREEN BUTTON on the lower left of the phone’s touchpad, HOLDING IT DOWN until the “Voice Command” application initiates, then say out loud “Notes”, and the phone will switch to the “Notes” application with relative ease, so you’re just a few seconds away from having a “real” alphanumeric keypad that can be used to “decode” those alphanumeric phone numbers many businesses advertise.
