Misdirected links= 1x1 invis.gif

I am trying to figure out why some links in Safari mysteriously go to "1x1 invis.gif". The same links open properly in FF 3. Here is a sample of a bad link and it's correct path:
Safari sends me here and I get ""invis.gif 1x1 pixels":
http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/10296-67722-15468-0?mpro=http://winnipeg.kiji ji.ca/c-SelectCategory
Same link clicked with FF yields: http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-SelectCategory
Any ideas?

Yup, SafariBlock was the problem. Guess I need a new ad blocker, because adding manual filters seems like it's probably a bit over my head.

  • Links in Safari go to "invis.gif 1x1 pixels"?

    Lately Safari's been showing an odd problem: I click on a button on a web page, and it shows a new, totally blank page with the correct URL in the address bar, but the window is titled "invis.gif 1x1 pixels". For instance, I just entered my email address on a page to be sent something, clicked the Submit button, and got this result. So far as I can tell, the information was not submitted. If I go to the same page in Camino, enter the info and click Submit, I get the expected "Thank you for completing the registration process." page. But in Safari, nothing.
    Anyone else seen this?

    I was having this problem, but having read this thread narrowed it down to Intego NetBarrier X4 Banner Filter, which is now switched off. It was fine when it meant that I couldn't open google ads but had become so chronic that even Apple.com wasn't displaying - home page and getamac vids in particular.

  • What are "Invis.gif 1x1 pixels" tabs?

    With the advent of the last several Safari updates, when clicking on a link, mostly in Google, but also in other sources as well, a tab opens with the title of invis.gif 1x1 pixels. If you highlight and copy the actual address of the link Safari will usually then find it and open it. It is a bit frustrating, since this is now happening to about 20% of the clickable links. Is there a setting I'm overlooking or is this going to be one of those irritating problems I have to deal with?

    Safari v.3.2.1. The URLs are mostly from Google searches that bring up a list of possible sites, although these blank windows happen from other sources also. In Google you will sometimes get a blank window (invis.gif). When you go back and copy the actual web address under the link and proceed, you can then bring up the site. Blank sites (invisi.gif) can happen even when the reference links above and below the site that produced the (invisi.gif) will work. It doesn't seem to make any sense, but can be frustrating to have to copy the web address to access the site, or where no web address is listed, not be able to open that site.

  • Pages fail to load and instead show "invis.gif 1x1 pixels"

    Leopard 10.5.1, Safari 3.0.4, Mac Book Pro, Airport to Linksys WRT54Gv6 to Cable Modem.
    Sometimes, while viewing certain pages, Safari will fail to load the page and instead show "invis.gif 1x1 pixels" in the window title bar. The content area is plain white. Ironically, this is 100% reproducible when trying to reply to a forum post here.
    With the Debug menu enabled, Web Inspector shows the following warnings:
    * Resource interpreted as document but transferred with MIME type image/gif.
    * http://discussions.apple.com/post!reply.jspa?messageID=6033688
    * Resource interpreted as image but transfered with MIME type text/html.
    * http://discussions.apple.com/favicon.ico
    I've seen this failure before while randomly browsing the web, but this is the first URL I've come across that is 100% reproducible. Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Opera 9.24 don't have a problem loading the page on the same computer.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks iBod! I spent an hour at the local Apple Store and walked away with no solution. But the guy did say check the discussions board and I was also running into the following messages in my title bar:
    adclick (GIF Image, 1x1 pixels)
    click (GIF Image, 1x1 pixels)
    (GIF Image, 1x1 pixels)
    I had tried a trial version of NetBarrier that came with my Virus Barrier and Personal BackUp and when I deleted the app my problems began. I had no idea it was the culprit because it happened in both Safari and Firefox.
    Well after reading your reply...
    I went into Preferences and deleted the folder called "Net Barrier" and no more problems.
    Thanks again!
    Next time I'll check here first!

  • Redirect error sends me to invis.gif

    Any link, such as ones I have emailed myself from work as well or links on third party sites are not loading. They all end up sending me to invis.gif. The redirector seems broken. If I read the URL carefully, it's obvious what it is trying to do but I have no idea why it doesn't work. For example, start with a link on the Wall St Journal (wsj.com):
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=260723100
    which redirected to:
    http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/browserRedire ct?url=itms%253A%252F%252Fax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net%252FWebObjects%252FM ZStore.woa%252Fwa%252FviewPodcast%253Fid%253D260723100
    which showed invis.gif in the tab name. By me carefully reading the target URL and constructing a new one, it does work. By converting the escapes (% plus four chars — must be unicode) into the needed char, I get
    itms://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?i d=260723100
    The itms: handler is activated and iTunes properly shows the podcast. I'm using Safari 3.1.1 as my default browser.
    Is anyone else having this problem? As it's using edgescite.net, I can tell you I'm on comcast, which I presume has an edgesuite server on the comcast network. Also, this happens with newly created links (drag icon from breadcrumbs aka path, such as an Artist name, to desktop. Try double clicking.
    Ick!

    I found the solution here:

    How can I take away the 1x1 transparent gif on my slideshows in muse?  It's showing up as a SEO error only on the pages that include slideshows.

    To see all the photos on the phone, including photos that have already been imported into iPhoto, deselect the "Hide Photos Already Imported" checkbox. If the camera contains photos that have already been imported into iPhoto, those photos are hidden by default.

  • Links in JPG & GIF images.

    Hello board,
    I'm making some JPGs & animated GIFs for my website, and my CMS allows images to link to only a single link; e.g. it
    links the whole image.  Is it possible to embed multiple links in a single image THEN upload to one's CMS?  If so, how?

    Marian Driscoll wrote:
    JPG and GIF image files cannot contain even a single link. Links are only made through HTML.
    You can slice the image (see Photoshop help on 'slicing') and then apply unique links to each slice in the CMS' WYSIWYG editor.
    You can also manually enter a HTML image map for a single image file if your CMS allows raw HTML and does not filter that type of input.
    Or you can use Dreamweaver.

  • URL link disappears in GIF

    I'm trying to put 3 links (Fcaebook, Twitter and Company's homepage) into an animated ecard (GIF). When I save for web is working perfectly, but when I try to paste the GIF into the email body, the links disappear. It's like the whole area where the links are was cut off.

    I think you are misunderstanding the process. Links are "meta", meaning they are stored in the underlying HTML code, not the image file itself. Thus merely inserting an image will not produce any working links. You will have to copy&paste the source code of the HTML preview page and include your image. That said, there is a million things that can go wrong like the formatting breaking up or mail servers filtering such stuff for security reasons, so it is considered good practice to also include links as plain text links and have an external HTML page to display e.g. a full e-mail newsletter.

  • Safari downloads 1x1 .gif files

    A lot of things (e.g. everything from sourceforge) I try to download suddenly end up being 1x1 pixel .gif files. any idea what to do?
    I'm using Safari 2.0.2.

    Hi Lucas,
    I'm guessing you are running NetBarrier. One of the options in there is preventing you from accessing the files you're after.
    I'm not familiar with the tool I'm afraid, so sorry for not being more specific. There used to be a post with details of what switch does correct it but that post no longer works.

  • Zip files seen as 1x1 gif image

    When I try to download zip files on my G4 laptop, a new window opens with the title <filename>.zip 1x1 pixel.gif. When using "save as" in the Safari menu, a small gif file is saved, not a zip file. This happens when using Safari 2.0.4, Safari 3.0.3, or Firefox. I've used "reset Safari" without results. When trying to download the same zip files using Safari on an iMac on the same home network, it downloads flawlessly. rar and dmg files download without a problem. I could use a hand trying to figure this one out. Thanks.

    Hi,
    I forge the name of the product, but I think this is caused by an internet security product (NetBarrier?) being a little over-zealous in the filtering that it performs. Assuming you have such a product, check it's settings.
    Hope that ends up helping you out

  • Safari 2.0.3 GIF animation

    I downloaded all the updates yesterday (10.4.4, Quicktime 7.0.4, and iTunes 6.0.3).
    I've noticed a problem that has cropped up in Safari 2.0.3 and any browser that uses Safari's rendering engine such as Shiira. Certain animated GIFs do not display correctly. Trying them in other browsers such as Camino they display correctly.
    The image drags, kind of stacks each frame on top of each other. It is rather difficult to describe, so I'll link to a GIF that has the problem. In this particular one the word "words" should only appear once. It should move from the top position to the bottom, as the head moves up and down. When displayed in Safari, the top "words" stays while the bottom "words" is displayed. Sorry for the stupid example, but its small and reproducible.
    http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8883/emotwords9sj.gif
    This may be a wider problem than just Safari, I've used two image viewers (EOS Image Manager and Xee) and the GIF displays incorrectly in those viewers, too.

    What's worse is that when you have a rather big animated gif, it will crash Safari. And with big, I mean filesize, not pixel size.
    This avatar is only 16x16 pixels, but is 156K big. Opening it in Safari will give you the spinning beach ball.
    (Don't blame me if Safari crashes... You don't HAVE to click the link, you know.)

  • Display gif files using servletoutputstream (again)

    Hello,
    I'm trying to display several gifs files in a html file. I extract all the files from an oracle database. I'm trying to use a servletoutputstream, but it does not difference between text and image.
    Process:
    1. Select html file from database
    2. Go through each line of html file to find the links to gif files
    - if gif :
    3. Ask for the gif file detected and select from database
    4. use servletoutputstream to display the file
    - end of if
    -else
    5. display the line of text.
    Is it possible to use a servletoutputstream to display several gifs and text content?
    Is there one other solution to do it correctly?
    Thanks in advance,
    Angela.
    The code I use is:
    private void retrieveFile()
    FileWriter fwHtml=null;
    oracle.sql.BLOB blob=null;
    InputStream in=null;
    ServletOutputStream out=null;
    ResultSet rsGif=null;
    try
    //Extract html file from the database
    String query="SELECT * FROM DBFiles WHERE FILENAME='"+file+"'";
    PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement (query);
    ResultSet rs=ps.executeQuery();
    rs.next();
    String fileName=rs.getString("FILENAME");
    if (fileName.indexOf("html")!=-1)
    InputStream fis=rs.getAsciiStream(5);
    //I read each line to know where the html file calls the links to the gif files
    BufferedReader reader= new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fis));
    String line;
    String mimeType="";
    try{
    while ((line=reader.readLine()) !=null)
    if((line.indexOf("img src="))!=-1)
    int imgIndex=line.indexOf("img src=");
    int altIndex=line.indexOf(" alt=");
    //I obtain the name of the gif file that I obtain from the database
    String gifFile=line.substring(imgIndex+9,altIndex-1);
    query="SELECT * FROM DBFiles WHERE FILENAME='"+gifFile+"'";
    ps.clearParameters();
    ps = connection.prepareStatement (query);
    rsGif=ps.executeQuery();
    rsGif.next();
    blob=((OracleResultSet)rsGif).getBLOB("GIF");
    String gifName=rsGif.getString("FILENAME");
    mimeType = context.getMimeType(gifName);
    response.setContentType(mimeType);
    out = response.getOutputStream();
    in=blob.getBinaryStream();
    int bufferSize=blob.getBufferSize();
    byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize];
    int bytesRead=0;
    int intBuffer=in.read(buffer);
    while ((bytesRead=intBuffer)!= -1)
    out.write(buffer,0,bytesRead);
    in.close;
    else
    byte[] bString =line.getBytes();
    mimeType = context.getMimeType(fileName);
    response.setContentType(mimeType);
    out.write(bString,0,line.length());
    catch (IOException ioe) {
    System.out.println("Unable to open Image file "); ioe.printStackTrace();
    finally {
    if (out != null) {
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    ps.clearParameters();
    connection.commit();
    rsGif.close();
    rs.close();
    ps.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle)
    sqle.printStackTrace();
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();

    Let's put it this way, since I don't have the patience to look at your code. HTML cannot have images embedded in it, it can only have links to images. So you could have a servlet that sends an image, but only a single image and nothing else. I see you have code to set the MIME type of the image, so I don't have to tell you about that.
