Mismatched versions of Labview and PDA Module

Last spring we received the update of labview 8.2 to 8.2.1 and we bought labview PDA 8.2.1. We installed the whole this week. When I try to run\build the VI, the error "Mismatched versions of Labview and PDA Module" appears.
I looked on the forum and found a similar case but it updated Labview and LV PDA. I never had LV PDA 8.2. I try to install LV PDA 8.2.1 with LV 8.2 but it is impossible because it is not the same version.
Do you have an idea of the cause of the problem?
Thanks you!

You will have to install LV 8.2 first then update it to 8.2.1.
Reboot your PC.
Install the LV 8.2.1 PDA toolkit (know that the toolkit also requires some other programs, mainly MS ones).
This should work.

  • Is it possible to open a VI using an older version of LabVIEW, and if so how?

As stated in the title.  I have installed all the run-times from lv6 to lv8.6, but cannot open any VIs that have been compiled in a more recent version of LabVIEW.  We run (on different computers) lv5, lv6.1, and lv8.5.  Upgrading some of the older machines is not possible since they cannot handle the required OS.
Is there any way to open a VI created/compiled in a higher version of LabVIEW?  This is proving to be a major sticking point with us and our ability to transfer VIs between computers.

Never say "Oops." Always say "Ah, interesting!"

    Hi James,
I was able to use VI server to invoke LV 6.1 VI's using LV 7.0 without issue.
After discovering this and mentioning it in a post somewhere, Rolf Kalbermatter indicated that was expected. and I should not be suprised.
    So....
    Vi Server may help you.

Do you know if the LabVIEW developers can/will create a way to overcome this problem rather than having to convert a VI through all the intermediate versions?
To the best of knowledge NO.
For each versino of LV there isw code included that runs behind the scenes when you open a VI from an earleir version which replaces old functions with the new versions. This is called Mutation code. To accomplish its task it has to know everything that changed between version X and Y. Since it is possible to baby step the versions up and the number of user that jump multiple major versions is small, I don't think any effort will go into that work.

  • What are the current versions of Labview and Teststand

    Hello,
i am currently downlading the current versions of teststand and labview for evaluation.
In the Teststand-link i saw that it is called "Teststand 2012".
    1. But there was no version-information in the Labview-Download. Is this also version 2012?
    2. Are both things 32-bit-software?
    3. After i installed the evaluation-downloads - can they be activated with a key or do i have to install it again when the CDs arrive in my office?
    Thanks for help

I am using Windows-7-64bit - should i prefer then also Labview 64? (The NI-download-Links only provides 32bit for download)
Will there be any problems converting my existing Labview 8.5-Vis to the new Labview2012?
    Thank you
You can have both the 32-bit and 64-bit installed.  Just remember your target when you build an exe.  64-bit compiled programs can only run on 64-bit machines.
You should have no problem upgrading your code from 8.5.

  • I have upgraded to newer version of labview, and the older versions of LavVIEW are now piling up. Can I uninstall the older versions? if yes how?

Do I have to keep all the old versions of LabVIEW as I did not uninstall the older versions, but only downloaded the latest version of labview from the website and installed it. A new version and icon is installed on my PC now. What can I do?

You asked "Do I have to keep all the old versions...". Of course not. You can do whatever you want. Each version of LabVIEW installs in its own directory, which is what allows you to keep multiple versions installed in case you need to support programs written in earlier version that cannot be upgraded yet for whatever reason. Conflicts may arise if you install older versions later than new ones and you install the libraries for the hardware interfaces like VISA and such. Older versions of these libraries sometimes cause problems with newer versions of LabVIEW.
If you do not want multiple versions, common practice is to completely uninstall the current version before installing the new one. If you have more than two versions but only want the latest, simply uninstall the older ones from the main NI installer. Depending on how old the versions are that you are uninstalling something with the new one may break so you may need to repair that installation. You may just want to simply uninstall all NI software and then just do a clean install of the latest version. That will likely be your best course of action.

  • Upgraded to 8.2.1 now I have a version mismatch for the PDA module ver. 8.2

I just recieved a new laptop. I installed LV 8.2.1, then PDA module 8.2. Programs will not build. I get a "Mismatched Versions of Labview and the PDA module" error.  Help.

    Hello,
I was able to reproduce this version mismatch error on a test PC with LabVIEW 8.2.1 and PDA 8.2. This is expected behavior. Also, Matt called in on the phone, and I directed him to his internal sales representative to be shipped 8.2.1 of the PDA module.
I suspect the reason why I was not encountering this on my own PC was that I had already upgraded my LabVIEW Touch Panel Module to 8.2.1 but not PDA yet.
For all people reading this, the ultimate answer is that the PDA version number should match the LabVIEW version number.

  • Difference between LV PDA module and touch-panel module

What is the difference between LabView's PDA module and touch-panel module? I want to recompile my application developed on a Win XP environment for a touch-screen single board computer running Win CE. From what I have read, it seems like both PDA module and the touch-panel module would be able to do the task - but what is the difference between the two modules?

    sstolteq:
The LabVIEW PDA Module allows you to create applications that run on Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket PC devices. It is also compatible with several NI data acquisitions devices, including the USB-6008, USB-6009, CF-6004,
    DAQCard-6062E, DAQCard-6024E, and the DAQCard-6036E.
The LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, on the other side, allows you to create human-machine interface (HMI) applications to
communicate with NI embedded real-time platforms such as Compact
FieldPoint, CompactRIO, and Compact Vision System. It is optimized for developing
HMIs to Windows CE touch panel devices such as the NI TPC-2006.
I hope this helps and please let me know if I can help further.

  • Newest version of labview

What is the newest version of Labview and what is the difference between the newest and the 5.1?
    Thanks.

The newest version is 7.1 and there are many differences between it and 5.1, which can affect you more or less depending on how you use LV. For example, the serial VIs from 5.1 are no longer available, so you will need to convert any programs you have that use them; The graphics were improved; LV now supports event driven programming so building user interfaces works better; There are some performance hits; There are some modules which weren't available in 5.1 (PDA, FPGA, etc.); Express VIs which make certain operations easier and so on.
Have a look here for some more.
LV 8.0 is currently in beta and should probably come out in the next few months, so I might choose to wait if I were you. I do seem to remember something about how if you buy LV shortly before a new version comes along, you get the new one for much less, but I'm not sure. Ask you local NI office.

  • How to setup PDA module for wince

I want to develop a PDA that with some measurements or analyze function, so i choose the Labview for PDA module.
My hardware is ARM s3c2440(Samsung), OS is WinCE5.0. Software: LabView7.1
I have developed the VIs for PDA module on the Pocket PC. I remember that I had to install EVC++ and Pocket PC SDK before I setup the PDA module.
So I thought after I installed the EVC++ and the SDK for my 2440 board, I could setup the PDA Module as before. However, I found that the installation still have to find the Pocket PC SDK.
How can I setup the PDA module with my 2440's SDK?
Another question, can I develop the Labview PDA module in the enviroment of ARM s3c2440+embedded Linux(qtopia)?
Thanks for have read this question, waiting for your guides.

  • Upgrading to LV 8.0 with PDA module

I have been using LV 7.1 and the PDA module; and while I'm quite happy with it, I would still like to upgrade to LV8. However, installing LV 7.1 with the PDA module was a real pain-in-the-*** - it takes a lot of time until you have everything installed in the correct order.
Therefore I am now wondering whether I can upgrade to LV8 without any further problems - will everything (including the PDA module) still work, or do I have to reinstall everything in the correct order?
    cheers
      Martin

    Hello,
LabVIEW 8 und LabVIEW 8 PDA Modul are full installer.
Labview 7.1 PDA has other requirements to the additional software (e.g. eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 is required in SP 4 or later) --> to install LV 8 PDA is not so easy.
you must choose the right way of installation.

  • Multiple versions of labview on 1 computer

    Hello,
I have just purchased LV 8.2 and am about to install it on my computer.  The old version of LV I currently have on my computer is 7.1.  Can I run both versions on the same computer or is it beneficial to take off LV 7.1 first before installing the new 8.2.  Any opinions?

    Azazal,
You can certainly run both versions on the same computer.  I have 6.1, 7.1, 8.0, and 8.20 installed on this machine and I regularly have more than one version open at the same time.
However, Paulo is very correct by saying that toolkits typically only install for one version of LabVIEW and that you need to be careful not to open your VIs in the wrong version of LabVIEW.  If you were to open and save a LabVIEW 7.1 VI in 8.20 you would be unable to open it again in 7.1.

  • Simulink, Labview and DLL

    Hi all,
I can communicate my model in Simulink with Labview using the SIT and without working in real-time. However, now, although I have made a DLL(Dynamic Library Link) with Simulink and my compiler, I don´t know how I could run it in real-time with my target calling the DLL.
This is, instead of using my model (*.mdl) in Matlab, I want to use the DLL but I don´t know how I must call it from Labview.
If someone could help me, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Ziman.

    Hello,
considering that you have recent versions of LabVIEW and SIT, you could do that ( run the model in an RT target ) using the SIT Connection Manager ( Tools - SIT Connection Manager ). In this dialog box, you will have to select Real-Time Target, insert an IP and choose the path to the Model DLL. Once configured, then click on OK button and when running the VI, it will download the model to the RT Target
If you open an example that comes with SIT called Sinewave ( Help - Find Examples ), you will have the information to run it in an RT Target in the front panel. For more information, here you have a link ( http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3583 ).
    I hope this helps

  • Downloaded latest verzion of thunderbird, and thr required latest version of lightning and totally lost my calendar. It disappeared and I can't find it.

Today I received a message that I should download the latest version of Thunderbird. I did. Then I got a message that my version of lightning was incompatible and needed to be updated. I tried to download the latest version of lightning and a blank email appeared with an attachment that ended with .xpi. My calendar with several medical appointments and many important dates for 6 months has totally disappeared. I have tried to locate it in my backup hard drive without success. How do I recover it? I have tried to upload the file name as it appeared but the upload icon just keeps whirring around. the attached file name is "lightning-3.3.1-tb+sm-windows-1.xpi". I have also tried the windows Recovery option for several dates but can't recover my calendar. HELP.

You have a mismatched version of Thunderbird and Lightning. Since you do not say what version of Thunderbird you are running the best I can offer is go to this link and get the correct version of Lightning.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/?src=hp-dl-mostpopular
The version of Lightning that you reference above is a Beta version so unless you are running beta Thunderbird is is not correct.
When you get a match pair of software all you important events will return.

  • Upgrading to latest versions of labview development software, drivers, engines

What is the best way to upgrade to a newer version of labview and drivers, but still maintain support for projects created and deployed with older software, drivers and deployment engines?  If I have to make changes to an existing project and then deploy them to a controller or create an exe application, I seem to always have some issues when I have to update drives and deployment engines. Problem is I would really like to ulilize the newest software and drivers but the conversion of projects created in older version seems to be such a hassle.  Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be helpful.  I can offer more details if needed.

The most sure way I have found is to dedicate a PC to the LV version.  I have a PC for 6.1, and one for 7.0/7.1.  I do
develop with 7.1 and 8.2.1 on my laptop, but the 7.1 is only straight LV, no drivers to speak of.

  • Will hardware drivers work with the run-time engine or only a full version of Labview?

    Hello.
I'm trying to get a quatech I/O card to work. The instructions with the drivers we were given state "you must have labview installed before installing these drivers".
A program I wrote on my machine works fine with those drivers and does toggle outputs on the card, but when I build it into an executable on our test unit (doesn't have a full version of Labview, just the Run-Time engine) the card doesn't work.
We installed the run-time engine on the unit, then the drivers.
I guess my question is: Do most drivers work with both the full version of Labview and the run-time engine? Or do I need to somehow 'convert' these drivers to work with the run-time engine?

    anks for your help!

    Dave:
I can't determine which dll is required but if there are more than one that
shipped with the quatech I/O card try to placing one dll at a time in the
same directory as the exe so that you can determine which one is the
required one. If that doesn't do it then it may need more than jsut one of
the dlls so placing all that came with the quatech I/O card s/w driver
package in the same directory as the exe should do the trick.
    Best of luck.
