Miss a map function in Aperture 2 book themes as available iPhoto

is there a way to import the iPhoto book theme lay-outs with map function into aperture 2 (map with travel route based on photo gps data and manual input)?
any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
No - iPhoto and Aperture are totally different and you can not share the templates
You can do a map page in iPhoto and print that page to PDF selecting the send PDF to iPhoto option which will create an image of the map in iPhoto - then export that image and import it to Aperture (or upload to MobileMe or use any places that images can be user)

Do you mean the map-icon in the toolbar, that switches to the Places View?
You can add it again from the main menu with
View -> Customize Toolbar
Just drag it back onto the Toolbar.

Editing iPhotos in Aperture, getting them back to iPhoto

So I'm trying out Aperture and I like it a lot. I find it a lot easier to use than PS.
However. Since my girlfriend is of a simpler state of mind when addressing how much a photo needs to be edited she only wants to use iPhoto. (i.e I stared using Mac and forced her to use iPhoto and she's not interested in changing application to manage photos yet again)
I thought I would be able to just in settings select "Edit in Aperture" and it would be easy peasy from then on. But it seems like when choosing to edit a photo, all it does is import the picture to Aperture and any editing won't automatically go back to iPhoto but I have to basically re-import the edited photo. Seems a bit stupid to me, why be able to select Aperture as editor if it starts a whole new project and doesn't keep it to iPhoto?
As I understand when using PS as editor, when saving an edited photo it goes back to iPhoto and updates. But this doesn't happen with Aperture?
Is there some thought behind this process or am I just a noob that can't find the correct setting?

There is a definite thought process behind this. Simply, you misunderstand what Aperture is.
It's not a Photo Editor like Photoshop, it's a digital asset manager, like iPhoto. Put another way, it's a replacement for iPhoto not Photoshop.
Like iPhoto, it's a database. It will only operate on images that have been imported to it. However, as Aperture has a true lossless workflow, when you process or edit a photo there is +no file to save+. Your edit decisions are recorded on the Aperture database and applied to the image each time you view it, share it, print it or whatever.
However, you don't have to export from Aperture/Import to iPhoto, you can simply share the Previews (Aperture Preferences) and then use the File -> Show Aperture Library command in iPhoto. Then drag the pics across from the Media Browser to the iPhoto Window.
As to being able to set it as a External Editor - well you can also set Chess as one.

How do I get custom book themes to appear in Aperture?

I want to create two custom book themes in Aperture - A4 Landscape and A4 Portrait - so that I can print them on A4 photo paper. However, after creating the custom themes, they do not appear in the custom theme list which is preventing me from creating an A4 sized book. I closed and restarted Aperture and I have also closed and restarted my MacBook.
My Aperture version is 3.5.1 and I am running Mac OS X 10.9.1.
Folders for the two custom themes I have created do appear in Users/MacPro/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Book Themes.

I will try your suggestion of creating a new Aperture library and let you know what happens.
If a new library does not fix it, there is probably a permissions problem with your user library, or a problem with the "Books Theme" folder.
I'd try to trash the "Books Theme" folder:
Quit Aperture.
Delete your "Users/MacPro/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Book Themes".
Log off and on again.
Create a new Custom Book.
Can you now see it in the "Themes" drop-down menu?
If that does not help, trash the preferences as well:
Users/MacPro/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist
and log off and on again, or restart the system.

How do I delete custom book themes

How do I delete unwanted custom book themes?
I am still finding my way around Aperture and have made a couple of errors when creating book themes. I now want to delete those unwanted themes. I have looked in the Aperture Help and the Aperture User Guide, but I cannot find anyway to delete unwanted book themes.
Some clue as to where to look would be a great help.
I am operating a Macbook Pro with Mac OS 10.9.1. Maverick.

The custom themes get installed in your user library in the folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Book Themes/
Your User Library may still be hidden - the default sinceMacOS X Lion.
Quit Aperture and open it from your "Home" folder:
Select the "Home" folder icon (the little house) in the Finder's sidebar and press the key combination ⌘J to open the view options. Enable "Show Library Folder".
Then open the Home folder and open the Library folder inside and navigate to
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Book Themes/
Remove your own themes and shut down and restart your system.

Thanks for your response. To be clear, the way I am importing the PDF is by going to New in LiveCycle, and selecting Import a PDF document, and selecting Create and Interactive Form with Fixed Pages.
I cannot change the forms or pages, as they are created by our local Board. In otherwords, I have tryed used the flowable content, and upon import, not only are the fonts slightly different, but all the important artwork (trade-related) is gone, and is not in the exact positions it was in. The forms must meet the standards to which they were approved by the regional board, and there are state-mandated forms as well.
What surprises me is that you say this method of Fixed Content isn't used much any more. I would think that a lot of people would have PDF files they would wish to make into fillable, interactive forms without needing to reconstruct the entire document. Perhaps a company that has always done things on paper, and now wishes to use those exact same forms on the computer, with no deviations to looks so they can be printed and match up perfectly.
I thought about using Acrobat's internal form creation system. However, some of these forms have sophisticated options and the calculation scripts and systems within LiveCycle are very useful. Not to mention that it has a much larger scalability, should we chose to utilize it.
Any other suggestions? I am so confused why Adobe would force medium-quality import of a PDF, but be so incredibly flexible about every other option in their program.

Want to make a "small book" theme that works with "buy book" function

I have made a handful of custom themes with the intention of having them printed via the Aperture "Buy Book" function. It seems like this should be possible, given the correct parameters being used when creating a theme.
Not so fast... I have had zero luck in getting this to happen.
Here's the issue
I want to create a theme to mimic the "small book" theme in Aperture
The dimensions on the "official" theme-created books are "3 1/2 x 2 5/8" showing on the aperture screen.
When I use these dimensions on a new theme, the "buy book" feature still does not light up.
What is the secret here?
Is this possible?
Very frustrating.
The reason for this is even more frustrating - my copy of Aperture will not add a Metadata Text Box to an Aperture Small Book themed page - which is a problem for another post (done).

Actually, I think you can make custom themes, but if they're out of the size dimensions of the books Apple sells, then you can't used your custom layout for that. The custom layout/book is for if you want to do a custom layout in Aperture and then export the pages as JPGs and send them off to the printer of your choice, one who has the type (or size) of the book you want. Book printing companies should try to come on board if possible and provide third-part plug-ins for Aperture in which customers upload designs directly from the program.

In iPhoto-08 I have 13 book themes and in Aperture 2.0.1 I have 8 beautiful themes, fully customizable that is. I am also able to make my own Custom Themes.
The new themes is Formal and Modern Lines.

I think that the reason for more themes in iPhoto is that iPhoto is aimed at the consumer market and Aperture for the professional market. If I really would like to make a book with the Crayon- or the Water Color theme (would I ever?) I certainly would update preview for those images and then make the book in iPhoto.
IMHO the book options has become more flexible in v2 although there are some issues yet and some features I really would like to see in an upcoming upgrade.

Where can I find additional book themes for Aperture?

I've made a few books with Aperture, which I've enjoyed and which turned out very well. However, I'd like to find more book themes. (A current need is a theme that is better suited for an actual travel journal with more text.) I've spent a couple of hours on Google and poring over the Apple sites related to Aperture, to no avail. I'm sure =someone= offers new themes, free or not. Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

I don't know of any themes, but there are photobook plug-ins for Aperture. These will create books for third-party print services:

If you want to print using Apple's print services, try to modify the available themes by saving custom master pages.

How can I create or customize an iPhoto book theme?

I am looking for a way to make a new book theme in iPhoto, so a group of photographers can create portfolios with a consistent style. I have had complete success doing this with Aperture, but not everyone has Aperture!
So far, for iPhoto, I have done the following:
1. Copied one of the existing themes in /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes;
2. Renamed all the files, and references to files to my new theme name;
3. Copied the necessary files in the /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes/Shared folder.
This works, in as much as I see the new theme in the choices in iPhoto. However, the pages are blank, and not editable. The only way to make them editable again is to change the "CFBundleIdentifier" back to an existing theme, eg "com.apple.framework.iPhoto.Contemporary-Hardcover"
I have scoured the system, and I can not see any frameworks folders or files identified by iPhoto themes. Is "com.apple.framework.iPhoto.Contemporary-Hardcover" a call to a compiled function in the program itself? In other words, is this something only Apple can alter, or does anyone have any new leads for me to follow?

Aperture book copyright question!

Hey...I was wondering if it would be allowed to make Aperture books and resell them....obviously if I do not own the copyright then I a cannot...but let's say I take a bunch of pics of my hometown and make a book and ask Apple for copies of this book...would I be allowed to sell it then?

Your images, your work, your creation -> your copyright. Aperture is just a tool and the printing service is just a service. If you write a novel using Microsoft Word, you still own the copyright and Microsoft has no rights over your work, no matter how many fancy fonts and formatting features you use. Aperture is no different.
I'm sure Apple would love you to sell as many copies as you can - especially if you are using their printing service. At worst, they sell more printing services to you as you buy more books. At best, your customers are so impressed that they use Aperture or iPhoto to print books themselves, and Apple sells lots more books.

I am not getting any errors during these two phases.
And when i am calling the extproc custagg(Mindistance) which i implemented using ODCI(oracle data catridge interface) ...I am getting the error undefined symbol : ODCIAggregateInitialize
So can any one please let me know what shared libraries are required to access the ODCI services and also am I compiling and linking it the right way or am I missing any libraries.

Your issue may relate to XE and it may relate to OCI but it does not relate to SQL and PL/SQL. Consider posting your question in a forum where it will be on topic.
When you do include full version information (3 decimal places) and the code that is generating the exception.

It's only a quick guess but have you checked your tnsnames.ora file to ensure you've opened the environment to find the libraries? If you set the EXTPROC_DLLS=ANY, you open the database to security issues but it should tell you if this cause because you can't access the library that contains the symbol.

Mapping issue - transformdate mapping function - urgent

all,
payload has date as "000000000" the mapping function transformdate is changing to 0002XXXXX.
y is this so?
we are on sp 18 of xi 3.0.
Did anyone face this issue

it is because in the datetrans function advanced properties, you have selected the option of a Calendar is linient and in any case the result, it is a bug
When a Calendar is lenient, it accepts a wider range of field values than it produces. For example, a lenient GregorianCalendar interprets MONTH == JANUARY, DAY_OF_MONTH == 32 as February 1. A non-lenient GregorianCalendar throws an exception when given out-of-range field settings. When calendars recompute field values for return by get(), they normalize them. For example, a GregorianCalendar always produces DAY_OF_MONTH values between 1 and the length of the month.
