Missed call beep

One thing I'm really missing on this 8310 is when I miss a call, sms, mms or anything the only thing that happens is the red flashing light. In my line of work (construction) that light is useless so I keep having to pull out the phone to see if I've missded anything. I do have the sound when I get a sms or call but my job site is to noisey to hear it sometimes, so a reminder every min or so would be helpfull.My razor had this and I've grown on it.
Can anybody tell me if there is a place to turn this on?

The blackberry does not have this function but there is a third party app you can download called blackberry alerts. The price is $12.95 but they also offer a 7 day trial.

1. Do I need a special external HDD to use with Time Machine or will all drives work?
Some are better than others I have both G-tech and LaCie external drives. Both are plug and play and both work well on a Mac. You could look at the Apple Store (on-line) reviews. Those are written by users (take that into consideration).
Imagine, I have a backup existing on my external drive and Apple comes up with a new OS/X version and I want to install that new version. What should I do? Is it possible to upgrade to the new OS/X and use the backup on the TimeMachine to restore ONLY the apps and iTunes/iPhoto library or does it also restore the "old" OS?
When a new OS X is released, Apple software will give you an easy method of installing. It is NOT necessary to erase or restore anything. It is ALWAYS a good idea to have a backup (TM is fine) before any software changes.

Missed call/SMS alert

OK, am I the only one who can't believe that there is no missed call alert on the iPhone? Does anyone know of an application that might perform this very basic function?

My wife and I just got an AT&T account with an iPhone 3g and a Nokia 6085. I'm not happy to read this thread. Our Motorola's with Verizon (we just switched to AT&T) had the continuous missed call alert - every 2 minutes they would beep if we missed a call, text message or voice mail. Until we opened the phone and acknowledged the message.
I thought, Ok, I may be able to live without this 'cause I absolutely LOVE the GPS. So I thought I'll just call AT&T to get my wife's phone setup.
Well, I just hung up after an hour. While very helpful and courteous, basically the final word was "people are looking at the screen more, you don't need that". She said she called Nokia for me and Nokia said that none of their newer phones have that feature. She also called one of their stores for me ('cause they work with these phones every day) and the answer was the same.
That's ridiculous. Enough to make me think about going back to Verizon. I wonder if they'll tell me the same thing.

Nokia 301 Feature Request: Missed calls/messages n...

Hi,
I just bought a Nokia 301 dual sim phone. I'm satisfied with it except one thing - IT DOESN"T HAVE MISSED CALLS/MESSAGES NOTIFICATION. How come such important and basic function not implemented? No one will check his phone regularly and there is no way to know wether I have missed calls or messages. It should keep making a beep until I read it. I believe this function could be implemented easily in software, even by polling the status at a constant interval or setting up a counter which issues interrupts. Any Nokia staff can answer this questtion?

This is a feature which the majority of phone users do not want, and that's why Nokia phones have not done it since the early 2000s when Nokia phones used to beep the morse code for SMS.
There are two primary reasons why a person might not read a message at the time it comes in:
He didn't hear it, maybe he was in a noisy place and didn't hear or maybe the phone is in a different room.
He heard it but was prevented from reacting by other circumstances.
If you are away from your phone, there are visual cues when you get back to it that a message has come in. If you are walking down a busy street with your phone in your pocket, there is also in the vast majority of phones a vibrate option to give an alternative kind of notification. If you are driving a car responsibly on a journey of some length, it would becoming annoying after a while if your phone was beeping in your briefcase in the back of the car, or if you leave your phone on your desk at the office whilst you are elsewhere, the repeated beeping could be just as annoying to other people.

E71 Reminders on missed calls, unread messages

Hi all I wonder if you know how to do this. I had a motorola v3 before I bought the E71. This old motorola used to beep every so often whenever there was a missed call or an unread message. This was very useful since if you happen to be away from your phone and then return you would know that you received something.
Does anyone know whether the same can be done on the e71, and if yes how?

No way to call a missed call

Lumia 800:
When I have a missed call, I tab on it to return the phone call. After that, the lumia just freezes and restarts itself after a minute.Is that normal behaviour?
Also: i need to adjust the volume of ring and message tones (I am always in noisy surroundings and I can't hear any beeps or ringing.
I would like to change ringtones and message tones, How to do that?

I have the same problem! When i miss a call and i want to call back then the phone switches off and reboots!! it's so annoing!!
Another problem:
If the phone accu is loading i cant do anything with the phone, the touch scree doesn't work. i have to switch off the electrical connection and then it works fine.

Unread texts / missed call alerts x3-02

Have not had a Nokia for over 10 years and am beginning to remember why...
I have just bought an X3-02 and am missing so many text messages, not returning missed calls etc. How can I programme this *** phone so that the phone rings every x minutes when I receive a text or a missed call? I'm often in meetings at work and unless I have my phone under my nose I don't see/hear a missed message. I've tried to download "remind me" from the Ovi store, but of course it's not compatible with my phone. Please help, I'm going crazy trying to find a solution. This phone is going to finish at the bottom of a lake very soon if you can't help.

With the option "Light effects" turned on, when I receive an SMS message, but I miss it first time around, the keyboard light slowly turns on and off. So if I leave my phone on my desk at work, when I come back, the lighting effects allow me to see if a message is there. I guess this also works for missed calls, but I haven't had any missed calls yet !
Actually, I too was frustrated that there is no reminder option. But I find this method of reminding better. My phone doesn't beep now all the time I miss a message, which suits me better, as in the office I work in, that is annoying for everyone else.
The lighting effects work for me, and I'm happy with the X3.

Missed Call Indication

Hi, does anybody know whether there is a setting/mechanism etc. to get some indication of a missed call WITHOUT turning the iPhone on (from standby)? This could be a beep or any other way of indicating that I have missed a call.

Missing calls and messages

My old phone use to give a continual beep signal when there was a message waiting. This one does not. Just a little icon up top. I don't walk around with my phone in my hand all day (got a life!). So I have been missing messages in a timely manner! Anyone know how to get or turn on that function with this phone?

You will need a third party application from the Play Store. Try searching for "missed calls".

Is there any way to set up alerts on the Kin two? If i missed a call or a message when it came through my old Verizon phone would beep periodically to let me know I missed something. Anything like his availableon the Kin two?

Have the 2m for 2 weeks now,and to my knowledge from having the phone and reading other posts and reviews,there is no message/missed call or new voice mail reminder.Which is kinda odd but its one of those little issues about the phone that you have to live with.

Missing Calls and texts, seemingly at random. + Other problems.

I just found out that my phone is not receiving many calls and texts, I figured it was just a slow couple of days.
Several different numbers just get VM, some get through but don't ring and I get a beep an hour or so later and notification of a missed call. Some that couldn't get through go straight to VM or 25 seconds and drop or busy signal.
I haven't received more than 2 text messages in the past two days which is quite out of the ordinary as that is how my friends and I communicate throughout the day.
Just got off the phone with tech support and did all their stuff. At first I couldn't connect to their test line and the support couldn't call me, then a full reset and he could call me and I could connect so we figured it was solved. Had one known problem number call again with the same result, so problem is not solved here at all.
My calendar also wiped the other day without my command to, and then proceeded to sync back to my gmail and wipe that calendar as well. As one might assume this caused me some major problems with my business, work and school schedule.
Last night I was having issues with sound, either my they couldn't hear me, or I couldn't hear them for about a half hour and a half dozen redials.
This is already my second droid, I had to go through 3 of my last phone with Verizon and am to the point of just paying the fee to cancel because I have had nothing but trouble with them since the start. If there is not some solid answer to this problem, I guess it is time for me to be done with this company, because it's track record with me is very poor and getting worse as time goes on.

I recommend doing a PRL Update. You can do this by dialing *228 send and choosing option 2.

Help! When I select "Phone" it tries to open and gives me a white screen and closes. I cannot view my missed calls or voicemails.

When I select "Phone" on my home screen the iPhone attempts to open it, brings up a white screen and then will shut back down. I have 8 missed calls or voicemails yesterday and I couldn't check any of them. Does this happen to anyone else?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try reseating or replacing the SIM card.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
Has any of the above been tried?

IPhone 5s won't ring or show missed calls

I have a a new iPhone 5s, and new service with Virgin. Its been working fine for the past month. Suddenly, today it stopped ringing on incoming calls. Neither, does the phone vibrate. Additionally, incoming calls do not show in the "Missed Call" log. If the caller leaves a voice-mail, that will show, and I will get my audible notification. The phone is not in "mute" and the "Do Not Disturb" is not turned on. The volume is turned all the way up. All other sound-features are working. The software is up-to-date. I've tried calling my phone from a land-line at my office, as well as a cell-phone from another provider. My bill was paid in full 4 days ago. I have tried turning the phone off completely, twice, and the issues persists. Some advice I've read here said to reset the phone. But several users stated that this did not fix the problem. Prior to this phone, I used an iPhone 4, for four years, and never had this problem. Help! I missed my phone-call interview for the Dream Job I have been shooting for for ten years. I HAVE to resolve this before my rescheduled interview on Monday. Please help!!

You need to reset your iphone settings by go to setting opetion.
