  • Doesn't detect 32 GB SSD drive on XPS 14 after windows reinstallation

    Hey everyone!
I have a XPS with a normal 500 gb drive and a 32 SSD drive.
I had to reinstall windows as a cause of my original drive failing and thus installing a new one, but after doing this the computer doesn't see the 32 SSD as being there. I tried finding a driver for it through the Dell website but so far no luck, how should I fix this issue?
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers Klaus Asbjørn

The SSD when set to the IRST SATA operation will not display within Windows in Disk Manager or Windows Explorer. The IRST application will however detect it and use it as a cache drive.

  • Update drivers after Windows 10 upgrade?

I have a Y50-70 and have upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seems to be working ok, but I noticed there are a collection of drivers on the download page for this prodcut. It seems like the drivers for a number of these things was upgraded to a newer Windows 10 version as part of the upgrade, but these are Microwoft drivers. Do I need to install these Lenovo drivers? For example, there audio driver on my machine is now a version 10.x from Microsoft. The one on the download page is listed as specifically for Windows 10 but is version 6.x (probably a Lenovo version). It has always striked me odd that a computer owner needs to monitor these drivers manually. It seems to me something akin to "Windows Update" should be watching over the drivers for us. Perhaps even Windows Updat itself with the vendors sending in their drivers, or addresses to the drivers for Update to send out. thanks!

This has been a big bone of contention with the NVidia drivers since NVidia wants to control their drivers through its own interface (GE Force Experience), but Windows 10 keeps overwriting any driver one tries to instal from a 3rd party. I believe the only exception would be if Microsoft does not have a driver for said hardware or feature.  There is supposedly a short term workaround and supposedly a feature called "slow ring" or something like that to allow you an option to receive automatic updates at a later date than they are normaly pushed. Windows 10 has supposedly done away of User Options concerning updates, which is a problem in my opinion. http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/07/25/windows-10-automatic-update-problems/  Another Windows 10 potential problem is WiFi Sense which stores your WiFi password on a Microsoft server and all of your contacts from Outlook to Facebook and beyond can also have access to YOUR network IF they happen to be within range of your network. If within range, they could auto login and use your WiFi and possibly more. I'm not sure if this answered you question fully but Microsoft has confirmed that if you change driver updates, Win 10 will just update it again using what Windows believes you should use. Read the article posted above. There could be newer info out since that is about one week old.

After a reinstall of windows my fn keys do not all work, some do but the small icon that used to appear that shows the fn button process whilst using it does not come up either

    Hello
I dont know what notebook and Windows you have exactly but if you use Vista or Windows 7 you have to install Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. After this your FN keys will work again!

  • Using bootcamp 5.1, Windows 7 home is installed but missed installing the drivers disk. How to install the Mac drivers for windows after the fact.

While using Bootcamp 5.1, and OS X 10.8.2, I partitioned my Mac disk with 80 Gigs for Windows 7 home and the install went great, but I must have missed the time when I was to install the Mac drivers disk to install the drivers for Windows,(when in Windows I don't have a mouse or optical drive.)  Is there a way to install the drivers after Windows is installed, or do I have to go through the whole process all over again?

Press X key after the startup sound to boot into OS X. Then, open Boot Camp Assistant, download Boot Camp drivers and burn them into a USB drive or DVD. Finally, boot in Windows and install drivers

  • Satellite P300-1CE - Microphone doesn't work after Windows 7 installation

    Hi everyone.
At the beginning I'm sorry for my bad english so I will say shortly.
A few days ago I removed a few programs, and I installed the new operating system Windows 7. All over it I had to download new drivers of the camera, because they didn't work. After downloading drivers of the camera, the camera became operative (YEAH!), but later I worked out that for me a built-in microphone was out of order. What can be of it with cause and what driver to download and why microphone don't work?
I can't speak with friends on skype ;( Help me. I hope you know what I say.

    Hello
Did you really install all drivers after Windows 7 installation? Maybe you have forgotton something and so it doesnt work.
Microphone is a part of webcam so make sure that webcam driver is installed properly and sound driver you need as well.
After this check the sound settings. Make sure that Microphone is enabled and test it again with enabled microphone boost.

  • Installing Windows 7 Bootcamp Drivers after OSX has been overwritten

I previously overwrote my OSX+Win7 bootcamp installation in favor of Linux Mint 15. There were some video driver incompatibilities with my Macbook Pro 7,1 (Mid-2010), so I have re-installed Windows 7. Because I no longer have OSX, Bootcamp is not available to me in any way. In Windows 7, I cannot right click, adjust the screen/keyboard brightness, eject discs (I can eject during startup, but not once Windows is running), and there's probably more that I can't do. This is just what I've found out so far. After some Googling, I found a download link for the Bootcamp drivers for Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro Mid-2010 model. The file is a .pkg file, which to my knowledge, is useless in Windows. Am I ever going to be able to install these drivers? Do I need some software or to burn some kind of image to a CD/DVD? I would really like to keep this installation of Windows 7, at the very least for iTunes. I'm fairly good with these computer things, so just let me know what options I have here haha... If all else fails, I can install Mint or Ubuntu. The video driver issues aren't anything TOO bad, but they're annoying enough that I'd rather use Windows at this point.
Thanks for any help and suggestions and stuff!!

TLDR; Macbook Pro 7,1 only has Windows 7. DOES NOT HAVE OSX. How can I install Bootcamp drivers? I already have a .pkg file, but I can't use that with Windows.

  • How to Get HP Drivers After (DIY) Installing Windows?

Series: How to Re-Install Windows when you don't have the Recovery Discs
Intro: What is an ISO? Why is it used?
Step 1 - Get the ISO - ISO Download Links
Step 2 - Burn the ISO to a DVD or USB
Step 3 - What to do with the ISO DVD/USB? Change the Boot Order
Step 4 - What to do After Windows is Installed? How to Get HP Drivers?
Step 4 - What to do After Windows is Installed? How to get HP Driver?
    Winodws is Installed, Now What?
Once the installation is complete, you'll need to go to your HP Driver Page and download all of your drivers. Your wireless function may not work automatically with a fresh install. You may have to plug an Ethernet cable into the computer and into your router to connect to the internet initially, until you have downloaded your wireless driver.
The best way to use the HP Driver Page, is by putting in your product number ('P/N' found on the HP label on the bottom of the computer) and click Go, rather than the 'Detect my product - Find Now' option. Without an HP Recovery Disc version of Windows, the 'Detect my product' option is not likely to work properly.
Another important note: If you had to go all the way into BIOS and change the Boot Order to the DVD drive (or USB), you'll have to go back into BIOS at your convenience and change the Boot Order back to booting from the internal Hard Drive first. If you used the F9 Boot Order Menu, it only changes the Boot Order temporarily, for that one power on iteration.
If you have any questions, create a new post (How to Create a New Post - Video), copy and paste it's link into a private message to me, and I will respond on your thread

Note down all the file names of the following queries first:
    SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
    SELECT NAME FROM V$CONTROLFILE
    SELECT NAME FROM V$TEMPFILE
SELECT VALUE FROM V$PARAMETER WHERE NAME = 'spfile'
If the last query doesn't show any file then copy $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init<SID>.ora file.
After making the list in sqlplus issue:
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE
And now you can copy all of those files to some other location. Make sure you install same version of OS and Oracle to restore these files. It would be easy for you if you keep the same directory structure after reinstall and place all those files as they were earlier.

Hi: I guess what I meant to say is that you may want to play around with some of the advanced settings for the card in the device manager. It seems that reading the article you posted, that procedure may have been for folks that have Cisco software to allow for Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and I don't think the drivers you have include any Cisco extensions. You can see if there is Cisco networking software by going to the Programs menu in the control panel and see the list of programs installed. There are usually 2-3 Cisco networking software items listed if you do. Sometimes tweaking those advanced settings help.  Here is an article that explains what some of these settings are for. http://superuser.com/questions/342759/can-somebody-explain-about-wi-fi-device-manager-settings-and-power-settings-in-w The ones I normally change are:  Enable WMM.  Set Roam tendency to conservative.  Roam decision to optimize distance. I had to change some setting on an old Intel 5300 wireless card to allow it to connect in W10.   The drivers were there, etc but when I went to connect to a network, it did nothing.

  • BootCamp drivers crash Windows 7, slow startup, boot order?, backup drive

I have 3 issues that may be related or possibly not related to each other. I use an iMac (currently with Leopard 10.5.8 on a completely clean installation of both Leopard and Windows 7 on a freshly formatted and partitioned drive).
    Issues:
    1. Before reformatting and installing Leopard and Windows 7, I tried to install Snow Leopard and then Snow Leopard Bootcamp drivers into Windows 7. This crashed Windows 7.
    2. Slow startup of Windows 7 - Drivers needed?
    3. Firewire backup drive never re-mounts after using WIndows and then going back to OS X.
    *Details of issues*:
In the past, before I completely re-installed Leopard 10.5.8 with a new Windows 7, with this same pair of operating systems, I always had a slow startup of Windows 7 on Boot Camp. Sometimes this would take up to 6 minutes to completely open Windows 7. The "Starting Windows" message would appear usually soon, but it would tale a very long time before the Windows logo Flag would appear. The slow startup still continues, even after a complete reinstallation of these on a freshly re-formatted and re-partitioned hard drive (This re-installation was done for reasons shown below).
For a long while I have thought that because I had never installed any BootCamp drivers into Windows 7, then it might start better if I were to install the BootCamp drivers from an installation disk. Thus when I the other day briefly upgraded to Snow Leopard, this time I went ahead while operating under Windows 7 to install into my already existing Windows 7 the set of Boot Camp drivers from the Snow Leopard installation disk. The installation seemed to go well, but it then hung up and never continued when it tried to install the Intel chipset driver. An an hour had passed with no further progress. Thus I force-shutdown the computer, and Windows then never opened until I restarted under safe mode. After that when I would restart Windows 7 "normally", I found also that the Apple wireless keyboard under BootCamp no longer was recognized. The "normal" slow booting of Windows 7 still remained.
Because of I was not sure just what all might have been messed up, and because I am waiting for new versions of several programs that I use to be made as versions compatible with Snow Leopard, I reformatted the complete drive (Both partitions were merged into 1), and then I reinstalled Leopard on a freshly prepared drive, followed by newly installing Windows 7 on a new BootCamp partition. Both systems were fresh installs on a freshly prepared drive and partitions. These were not from clones of the previous installations. This time I did not try to install any drivers from the Leopard disk. The slow booting of Windows 7 continues.
Things I have suspected might cause the slow booting:
    1. Boot order of the Windows partition may be set to look for a CD-ROM before booting from the Windows 7 on the BootCamp Partition. To solve this, I have tried to open the BIOS on startup of Windows 7 in order to set the boot order. I am not sure which function key to press, but in trying several, I have gotten a DOS screen that shows Windows 7 as an option, but nothing else. When I select "Advanced", I get a list that includes "Safe Mode", "Boot Logging", and other items, but not anything for boot order.
    2. The drivers for BootCamp might not yet be made for Windows 7, and I need to wait until these are so that these can be installed. After such, then maybe the slow startup might be fixed?
    3. Possibly my Firewire backup drive interferes (permanently?) with the Windows startup process, because after I use Windows and then go back to OS X, the backup drive (Maxtor OneTouch III firewire drive) will not load on the MacIntosh desktop until I unplug the firewire from both the computer and the Maxtor drive and unplug the power cable to the backup drive, followed by replugging all of this in. (Note: The backup drive is formatted for Macintosh and is never seen as a drive in "My Computer" or in "Network Places" when I operate Windows 7).
Are you able to help/ Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Wilson

    Extra comments;
I also tried the following, which did not fix the startup (*Once up, Windows works well!*):
    1. Checked for file and disk errors (ckdsk?? on startup).
    2. Purged temporary internet and other temporary files (using internet options and disk cleanup utilities)
    3. Cleared out Prefetch files.
    4. Emptied trash.
    5. Under "msconfig", I found 4 items there as startup items. I disabled Adobe Reader and Quicktime helpers, leaving only thus 2 startup items of the 4 enabled (Bulldog and some Microsoft thing).
    6. Defragmented.
    No better results.
    Sincerely,
    Wilson

  • Acer XB270HU black screen after windows logo for about 20-30 seconds

Hi all,On a fresh and fully up to date OS (Win 7) with 2x GTX 980 Ti I have an issue where the screen goes black (No Signal) just after windows logo. Im using UEFI SDD boot flow, have secured boot disabled. Im connected with DispayPort 1.1 (not sure if that matters). This issue did not occur after getting to Windows just after the reinstallation of the OS (no drivers, no updates). It started to occur after the OS got fully up 2 date. Any ideas? As Im losing 30 seconds on boot-up with UEFI so it feels like IDE....

I also have the same issue, it only started a few days ago and ive had it for 2 weeks. Sometimes when I start up the computer, it will say no signal and my secondary monitor will turn on and take its place as the primary monitor. A restart will fix this issue, but then my Acer goes black, says no signal, comes back at a resolution of 600:800 and then 1920:1090, and changes again to its native 2560:1440.
Not to mention G-SYNC does not work at all on my monitor. I can't beleive they charge $1,000 for this extremely mediocre at best monitor
