How do I add multiple songs to an existing playlist from the (no longer called) Library? Highlighting multiple songs and clicking the "Add to" button will only add the one with the little arrow, not all the highlighted ones! I am using the "new" iTunes.

For the moment there isn't a way for us end-users to control what is "matched" or "uploaded." That is purely a result of Apple's server-side algorithms.
To re-add multiple songs at once simply highlight all the songs you want to re-add, then right-click (or Control+click) the list and choose "add to iCloud."

  • How do i create a playlist from an album?

apparently i have to type more here to get the ball rolling...?
I am new to iTunes. I have loaded a few albums from CD into iTunes, and I can play them & even burn new CDs...  But I'd like to do more complex stuff, and the help screens I have read seem to assume a lot of stuff I don't know.
That's why I started with what I thot was a simple question (How do i create playlist from album; ****! I can't even copy & paste here!) but I dont think I have even submitted my question yet.
Maybe i shoulda started with a question about HOW to navigate in the "Apple Support Communities"...
I apologize for any protocol violations i am committing with this & pray some one will take pity on an old guy who doesn't speak 'apple'...

    Hello Rhea,
Thank you for the question.  It sounds like you are trying to create a playlist of a specific album.  I have a couple of suggestions you can try.
First, your menu options may currently be hidden in iTunes.  I recommend turning them on first if they are not currently visible:
To keep the iTunes menus active, change the setting by selecting the Menu icon in the upper-left, and then selecting Show Menu Bar. Alternatively, you can press Control-B.
Find more information about the enabling the menu in this article:
iTunes: Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5610
Next, follow these steps to create your playlist.  In step 3, drag the album tracks to the playlist you created:
    Create a playlist
Choose File > New > Playlist.
Type a name for the playlist.
To add items, drag them to the playlist on the right side of the iTunes window.
When you’re finished adding items, click Done.
You can find those steps in the following article:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Create a playlist
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12340
There is an alternate way you can create a playlist as well using the sidebar.  First, you will need to make the sidebar visible:
Show Sidebar - Choose View > Show Sidebar (this feature will display iTunes features on the left side of the application including Library, Store, Shared, Genius, and Playlists).
These steps are available in this article:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Once you have the sidebar enabled, follow the steps in this video to create a playlist and add an album to it (the title of this video says iTunes 10, but the steps are the same for iTunes 11 once you enable the sidebar):
    iTunes 10: Playlists

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • Automatically create playlists from all albums

Is there a way to do this so that I can use list view and play one album at a time? I've looked on the list and searched on the web.
I know you can make album play lists easily, but only one at a time, by hand. I mean to simply get all them in one move.
I know that the grid view gives you the equivalent, but the grid view consumes so much memory that it turns the computer into an expensive CD player. The cost of looking at all those little pictures runs to about 200 megs of memory for me, and that creates a difficulty for me. (Strange as it seems, I work on this machine, too.)
In list view, iTunes does a great job, keeping memory use within 50 megs -- no problems there.
When I moved my music from one file server to another, I lost my playlists. I had the xml file that other programs can use, but not apparently not iTunes to re-create playlists. Now I face the trouble of rebuilding them hand. It would be trivial to rewrite that xml file to change all the file paths, but I did not see a way importing the entire collection of playlists.
It would seem to me that internally the iTunes database maintains an album by album list of songs (to show you in the grid view). One more step would loop through these and create playlists that show up in list view, eh?
My favorite music player is Linux-only -- Rhythmbox -- which just gives automatically artist and album playlists, and keeps within 60 megs of memory. I tried the new Mozilla offering, Songbird, which is only in beta and has its own rough spots, but it, too, automatically gives you artist and album playlists. I don't know about the Windows players.

    Barry

Why don't you use the Browser, you can filter your list view right down to a single album using it. Go to View>Show Browser to make it visible. Alternatively press the Command (⌘) and B keys together.

  • Spotify plays wrong song (usually equivalent track number from subsequent album)

    Description
Whenever I try to play a song, spotify will play the equivilant track number from the next album down, and to play the song I want to I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
    1. Tried to play the song I wanted to listen to (e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody on CD1 of the Queen Platinum collection) by double clicking or pressing enter button
    2. Song on the next album plays instead (One Vison on CD1 of Live at Wembly Stadium)
    3. To get original song to play I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album (track 1 - Intro from Queen Rock Montreal)
    What I expected to happen
I expected the song I wanted to play... to play
    What actually happened
The song on the next album played (same track number, same CD number, next album down)

Do you have any screenshots you can attach to more clearly explain your issue?
    Not really

I have the same issue. Also, when playing songs from "Popular" it plays the equivalent track number on the first album.
This seems to occur on the first album I play when starting Spotify. Going to another album resolves the issue and going back it's working as intended again.
Are you storing info from last played artist/album on shutdown and restoring it upon startup? Somehow the index on track-collections of last played artist seems to be +1 on startup.

  • Create a playlist from a song/album

Just curious if there is an easier, less backwards way to create a playlist in iOS 6 on the iPhone 5 rather than going to the playlist tab, clicking new playlist, typing in the name, and then adding tracks?
Seems rather lame if that is the only way. You should have the option to start a song or album and choose "Create Playlist from Song/Album" and then have it auto-name the playlist based on the title. Am I missing an obvious step or option here?
Sometimes these steps are buried and hard to find.
    Thanks,
    Toby

Well that is very disappointing. Apple should take their cue from Spotify. You can create a playlist from any album or song you are listening to and not have to add song by song to a list.
Apple always seems to be one step behind the obvious choice. They lose me more and more each day.
    Step up guys!!!

  • Managing playlist from external to new macbook.

I have 2 external HD's with music in itunes folders one is a small 150 GB and the other a 650 GB. The largest external is my old computer (now in an external firewire case) with OS 10.5 and itunes and all my good playlists which had some songs linked on the 2nd 150GB external. When I boot from the 650 gb on my macbook i see the playlists but now with some missing audio when I boot my new MacBook from 650GB external while the 150GB is attached via USB.
So now my question, after buying a couple of utilities which do not merge everything to the one large external, how do i get all the songs and the 650GB playlist from my old HD to show up on the booted macbook and not when I' m boot from the 650GB external. I have on both external HD approximately 200 gb of music, audiobooks and audio class course material.
I need the playlist (at least) from the 650GB external and then all the itunes backed up on that external. I really don't need to access the stuff everytime i boot up or attach ipod. But i would like the playlists to be there so when i do decide to update the playlist on my iPod 80 gb i can and just so i don't worry. LOL.
    any help GREATLY appreciated.

  • Transferring playlists from I-Pod to new computer

    Hello all,
I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before : I recently purchased a new computer as my old one "died". I have all my music files in an external hard drive so they were preserved. When I downloaded I-tunes on my new computer, it did not transfer any of my playlists onto the new computer. They are still on my i-pod. How do I get them on my new computer from my i-pod? Thank you in advance for your help

Everything will copy over just as it is on the iPod EXCEPT playlists. You will have to manually recreate these yourself.
This column of [iPod Transfer Backup|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/IPod_Transfer] share many articles about iPod to computer, included transfer iPod songs, photos and videos, playlist from iPod to computer.
Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me!

Bought new iMac & moved (or thought I had) all of my music from the old PC to the new iMac. Have discovered several hundred songs are orphaned on old PC; I can "see" them with both machines turned on & iTunes open. "Missing" songs show in iMac itunes Shared folder. How do I move them all so I can then & retire the old PC?

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Missing songs from playlists after moving to a new mac

Bought a new imac 5k. On my old Mac (Pro) I saved the library.xml file in order to save all my playlists (about 70), rather than save each individual playlist file (which would have taken too long.)
Moved the library.xml file to my imac, "added to playlist", and it brought over all my old playlists. Cool, right?
Nope. Many of them are missing songs now. I wrote down how many songs wee in each playlist on the Mac Pro before cleaning it out, and the same new playlist on my imac has a wrong/smaller song count.
Now, I have to try and figure out which ones I'm missing? Ugh. Why didn't ALL of the the sings on each playlist transfer over? Any idea how to fix this? Running Yosemite 10.10.1.

    Hello, Edgarflo.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is some helpful information regarding preorder albums in iTunes.  I would recommend checking to see if you can download the single directly from the preorder album as some artists release a single that is separate from the album and will be a different purchase.

  • A function to play offline / downloaded songs and playlists from Spotify on Sonos is missing!

A function to play offline / downloaded songs and playlists from Spotify on Sonos is missing!
Since my internet connection is a bit shaky at home I need to use my downloaded content and playlists with Spotify!
However this functionallity is not available together with Sonos which is a really big problem.
I hope you plan to work together with Sonos to introduce this functionallity really soon.
Also this is already available with Google Play Music together with Sonos and it would really be a shame to leave Spotify just to solve this problem.

Would be great to have some way of getting offline play lists on Sonos for when my internet connection dies, and also to reduce the amount of data i download repetatitivly... i must have streamed the same songs hundreds and hundreds of times over the last few years playing spotify over sonos, massive waste of bandwidth and download capacity. Maybe we could point spotify to a network drive for spotify on sonos to use for storage of offline playlists.

  • HT1766 An Apple consultant said I could get rid of itune playlist from my ipad by connecting the cable from my ipad to a computer that does not have songs from itunes in its computer. I was not able to do it. Any suggestions?

How do you get rid of itunes playlist from my ipad? I was told you can sync it back to a computer that does not have any itunes songs. It did not work.

I'm sure I don't completely understand the question.
How to get rid of an iTunes playlist from your iPad? Just delete the items while using iTunes. The next time you sync, they'll be gone from your playlist.
