Missing 16 GB cache drive

I ordered a T450s and received it a couple of weeks ago. I opened it now to replace the HDD with an SSD, and I wanted to remove the 16 GB SSD cache drive, which would be redundant now.
The problem is that the cache drive is not there. I'm sure I ordered it, and it showed up on my order. But it is not where it is supposed to be.
I'm not sure who I'm supposed to contact about this. I do not want to return the laptop. I'd prefer that Lenovo send me a cache drive, which I paid for, or at least give me a refund for it.
I've attached a picture of where the missing drive should be. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.
Thank you.

Hi,
any chance there is Hybrid drive (SSHD) installed, with 8 GB NAND flash? Or 16 GB SanDisk cache drive could be found under internal battery, on the smart card reader case.

  • What if computer run into "Bootmgr is missing" or "Hard Drive Failure"

    Most of us have the experience of computer run into error,such as bootmgr is missing. The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose hard drive interface cables. Hard drive failure is another frequent error,it is arouse by physical damage or logical error. Once this problem occurs to you, any data stores in it would be in danger.  If you want to Fix Bootmgr Error by yourself. These following steps may be available for you to deal with the problem. Step one. Burn a rescue boot disc or USB drive. You need to download Fix Genius and install it  into a computer ,then insert the CD/USB and run the program to burn it . Step two. boot your computer from CD/USB Enter into the BIOS and change the Boot Device Priority ,then save the changes and exit. Step three.Fix "Bootmgr is missing" or "Hard Drive Failure" Insert the CD/USB then you will enter into the WinPE system, and click the Fix Genius icon there on the desktop. After run up the program, config the parameter according to your problem. This rescuing process would last within minutes. It is the best one I can find among the solutions. As the time past, it is a time information refresh very quickly, Maybe there is a better one for you to fix bootmgr is corrupted and Hard drive failure if you have time to search online. please let me know if you find it, I will be glad with you.

    There are some caveats to be aware of when replacing the hard drive! While in theory any SATA drive is compatible, I have experienced problems with a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB and a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 640GB recently.
    With my WD drive I have had to adjust the power management settings (using a command line tool called "hdapm") to prevent it from spinning up and down every 20 to 30 seconds, and which was also leading to momentary freeze ups. While this may kill my battery a bit quicker, I'm hoping the drive will at least live an average lifetime. (Batteries may be more expensive, but they're a lot quicker to replace than a hard drive).
    My Seagate drive has exhibited far less frequent problems but the occasional noises it made have never sounded healthy and after 6 months is now being replaced under warranty. There were also a number of days where I would get excessive beachballing for no reason I could identify, and that I concluded must be hard disk related. I couldn't find anything here or elsewhere on the internet to indicate what the cause of that might be.
    So my limited experience of hard disk replacement hasn't been a great success and I'm beginning to wonder if getting an official replacement from Apple might be a safer option in the long run, despite it being more expensive. I read somewhere that the hard disks supplied by Apple have custom firmware that works better with Apple's own power management strategies.

  • Trying to Print - Receiving "Missing USB Class Driver" Error

    Since I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, I have not been able to print. I have a Lexmark X5470. At first, any application that attempted to print simply crashed. Then, I removed the Lexmark folder from /Library/Printers, and did a custom install of just the Lexmark printer software from my Leopard DVD. Now the applications no longer crash, but I am getting this error:
    /usr/libexec/cups/backend/usb failed
    Missing USB class driver.
    Does anyone know what this is? I have deleted the printer and re-added it, restarted the computer, disconnected the printer, etc...everything I could possibly think of.
    Thanks!
    (And Lexmark did tell me that they have no plans for making their software for this printer compatible with Leopard, so I need to get it working without their help.)

    There are several posts here on the Lexmark x5470. One that mentions your specific problem is here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5674001&#5674001
    Other have had success using the Lexmark drivers and then disabling or deleting a plugin. There are several threads on this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Best Use of one SSD  for cache drives

    Hello...  Months ago I added two Physical  Momentus XT drives to be used  as Cache only drives:  One as a Cache disk, and one as a Cache Database disk.  This is the only function these drives do...
    Doing this really sped up large session loads...
    I'm going to be getting one SSD soon, and was wondering.... Of the Two Caches....  Cache, or Cache Database...
    Which would benifit the most from an SSD over a hybrid hard drive??
    Seeing that the Controller is a 3Gb/sec controller only....  That's why I used two separate Cache disks..
    Now that I'll have the benifit of a SSD speed over a Hybrid Drive (Faster Reads only)... Should I combine both in the SSD or still keep them separate?
    Thanks!    Jan

    I have replaced 2 Momentus XT drives (One with Media Cache, and other with Cache Database)  with 1 Samsung 840 SSD, which has 2 folders: CS6 Cache, and CS6 Cache Database.
    Prior to pulling the drives, I tested the time it took to load a 45 min 1080i AVCHD session that had over 400 scenes, 600 2k JPEG's and about 25 pieces of music.  From clicking on the session to load, until "All Media Loaded" took about 34 seconds (This is with the Cache's on separate Hard drives).  Shut system down, pulled the two drives, added the one SSD drive, power up, formatted the drive and added the above mentioned folders...  Then launched PPRO and pointed the Media Cache and Cache Database at these new locations... Then launched the 45 min session, and walked away while it created the data locations, peek files, etc, to the new SSD Cache Drive folders.
    When It was finished, I closed, rebooted the system, Launched PPRO, and timed from the Click on the session, till the end of "All Media Loaded"...     19 seconds...
    Will be watching this intently......
    EDIT:   SO far, I'm happy with the change.... I am interested in anyone else who has done this sort of thing before.... and in paticular, if you found any negatives of putting both cache's on the same physical drive, even if it is a SSD....
    I did find my prior notes, and going from Cache's on raid (Different directory than media, though media was on same raid) to separate Momentus XT Drives decreased load time of this same 45 min project by ~ 15 seconds..
    $$$ Available was only enough for one SSD, and I'm not certain if multiple SSD's for cache's would be worth the $$.... Which is pretty much why I posted here....
    Looking forward to your comments...

  • Firefox 24 missing clear cache on exit option

    I was going to enable the option to clear cache on exit, and found this answer:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
    However, in firefox 24, the privacy tab is totally different than the page shows. My option has "tracking", "history" and "Location Bar", instead of just history and location bar. Under "History" there is only on dropdown menu that does not have the "Clear History when Firefox Exists" and the "setting" button.
    Why this feature is removed from v24?

    To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
    *Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Privacy+panel
    Note Firefox will disable the disk cache if you use "Clear history when Firefox closes".<br />
    You can see that by the missing disk cache section on the about:cache and and in "Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network"

  • New Computer's 16gb mSATA caching drive not working

    I bought a new custom HP ENVY 700xt Desktop pc with Windows 8.1 . &nbsp;I got two, 1tb hdd's, and there was an option to addon a 16gb mSata ssd for caching, so I decided to get it.
    &nbsp;
    I wanted to know for sure if it was working so i obviously googled the hell out of it and came to the conclusion...it's not working.&nbsp;
    &nbsp;
    I called HP's tech support only to be told that they don't troubleshoot 3rd party software (ExpressCache), which is needed for the 16g mSATA to work.
    &nbsp;
    The disk is installed correctly and can be seen in disk managment. &nbsp;
    &nbsp;
    Basically there is a test your supposed to run as administrator in the cmd prompt, which is, " eccmd -info " .
    That test should reveal how your mSATA cache drive is working.&nbsp;
    &nbsp;
    I get the message : "Product is not licensed to run on this system".&nbsp;
    &nbsp;
    I've searched all over for the error and how to resolve it, but can't find anything.
    &nbsp;
    Please Help! &nbsp;Thank you for your time.
    &nbsp;
    Product name: 700-310xt
    Product number: G5B62AV#ABA

    Probably not a good idea to share case numbers here... I had the admin remove it, but I have it and will follow up.
    Lets not get into RAID here - this has nothing to do with RAID.
    ExpressCache is not an executable, but it runs as a service. The only way to see if it is running is to run the eccmd -info command and if you got Product is not licensed to run on this system...  then we have a problem with the licensing and that needs to be fixed. This is a supported product both HW and SW.
    I'll look up the details and get back with you as soon as I can.

  • Missing raw file driver for Canon S90

    I miss raw file driver for Canon S90. The software delivered with the camera works, but it doesn't work in finder, Aperure and so on, just in Canons own software. When will the driver be available for SL?

    Apple hasn't said anything about it, but they're always quiet on everything (I think this works to their advantage for new products, but it works to their detriment for product updates.)
    Anyway, they recently released the latest Camera RAW update and surprised a lot of people by not including the S90. Adobe had problems with the S90 -- images would "load" but looked poor. I can only guess Apple also had problems and decided to push it to a later date rather than hold up the whole stack of RAW camera updates people had been waiting on (typically they release an update with support for a list of cameras).

  • Unable to make recovery disk on in pavellion g62016 .dat file is missing in recovery drive

    unable to make recovery disk on in pavellion g62016 .dat file is missing in recovery drive
    can i use the .dat file of another same notebook
    what is significance of ,dat file

    Hello shail11. I understand that you're having some problems creating a recovery disc. Is this correct?
    You can not use another .dat file.  The recovery media is specific to a certain notebook, so using another computer's files will not work.   If you're running into issues making a recovery media you could attempt to perform the recovery from the BIOS. Here is a document which outlines the process.  ALL data not backed up before performing the recovery will be lost.
    Let me know if this helps; have a great weekend!

  • Error: Missing File cache-10

    I get the errors every time I open iWeb:
    *Missing file cache-10*
    *Missing file cache-9*
    *Missing file cache-11*
    Does anyone know what these mean and how I fix it? I don't notice anything wrong with the site.

    I was having the same error screen pop up with some missing cache files. I noticed that that error box pops up only when I clicked on the Photos page within iWeb. (Even though the description wasn't useful, that at least told me where the missing files were located!)
    If that is the case for you, the earlier post worked for me:
    -On the left menu bar (where you navigate to your different pages) control-click on the "Photos" page (or whatever you named it) and select to Duplicate it.
    -This will create a copy of that page: calling it "Photos 2"
    -Delete the original "Photos" page so you now have only "Photos 2" on the left menu bar
    -Rename "Photos 2" to "Photos"
    -Publish
    Voila!
    Hope that makes sense!

  • Replacing the M.2. cache drive with 256GB SSD in Yoga 14

    Hope this is the right forum--didn't see one for the ThinkPad Yoga 14. I just picked-up a TPY 14 on Craigslist where the previous user had replaced the 1TB spinning drive with a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO drive. While this is very performant, the space is limiting. So my thought is to put the 1TB drive back in and replace the 16GB M.2 cache drive with a 256GB M.2 mSATA drive. Then I can run the OS/apps off of the mSATA drive and keep my data on the spinning disk. I'm not familiar with the M.2 interface and don't know what to expect in terms of performance, however. I know it will be drive dependant, but is the any reason to believe this will be noticably slower (or faster) than having a standard SSD? (Crystaldisk numbers would be great if anyone has this setup.) Also, if I put the 1TB spinning disk back in, am I likely to lose battery life (compared to the Samsung 840)? I know I should be able to answer that question, but I've never run this machine with the original disk. Thanks!

    while i was around updating my thread, i figured i would chime in. i dont own your model or have expiriance with m.2 drives, however, if you look up the m.2 spec youl see that its basically just a micro version of the SATA port with a few extra bells and whistles, so it will be just as fast as your current SSD drive, only smaller. as to the battery drain by adding in the mechanical, yes, mechanicals use more power than SSD, you can sort of mitigate that by using a 5400 RPM drive instead of 7200 RPM (at the cost of access speed) and allow the drive to go to "sleep" when not used, that would work best by using the m.2 as the o/s drive, and the mechincal for data/programs. but, you might want to look in to things, i know on another system i own (none lenovo) it has an mSATA port, that port can be used to speed up the system with a cache drive using IRST, however, thats "all" the port can be used for, the system manu has it hard coded in the bios to not allow it for anything else, i found that out the hard way when i tried to use that port as the O/S drive instead... so keep digging. and i wish you luck.

  • X230: 16GB mSATA Solid State Cache Drive not found

    X230, Win8, 16GB mSATA SSCD installed (0B47309).
    However, during software installation of "lenovoexpresscache.exe" 1.0.94, installation aborts because it cannot detect the Cache Drive.
    Is it a driver problem or should I return the CacheDrive? (The CacheDrive is obviously not detected by the system but I'm not sure.)
    -Mino

    The software is only intended to be used on the mSATA SSDs that Lenovo sells.
    It is not intended to be used on your own mSATA SSD that you buy elsewhere.  If this is what you are trying to do, nobody can help you with that.

  • Droid X - Windows 7 - Missing bluetooth Peripheral driver

    Anybody know how and/or where to fix the missing bluetooh peripheral driver to my windows 7 laptop?

    If your computer does not have built-in bluetooth, and very few do, you have to buy a Bluetooth dingle. It has a usb connection. Once you place the dingle into one of the usb slots, Window 7 will do its thing and recognize the bluetooth.  Once this is accomplished, you can then have the Droid X bluetooth search for it and connect to it. However, I have a question. Why go through all this trouble, buying a bluetooth dingle, having the Droid find it, etc. It's so much easier to just connect your droid to your computer with the provided cord. Your computer will then show a new drive (your phone) and you can transfer files on your computer from your computer drive (usually C:/) to your phone (whatever letter is assigned to your Droid) and visa versa. It's so much easier and almost foolproof. Whereas, with bluetooth, its sometimes a hit and miss operation.

  • 8mb cache drives, whats the difference between brands?

    hello,
    whats the difference between maxtor, western digital and seagate(if they have 8mb cache), when it comes to the 8mb cache drives.  i know all these are good brands and basically equal.  western digital were the first right?  but in terms of noise, seeking time, heat and all.......whats the best buy?
    thanks,
    edison

    All 8MB cache HDD existing now are excellent. The maxtor is slightly more recent than the WD, boasting 80GB platters against 60GB platters for the WD (hence higher density and theoritically higher transfer speed).
    In the benchs, the drives are roughly equivalent (passing each other depending on the tests). Any way, no application are pushing those as far as i know.
    So, choose any. WD has already a very good track record for reliability, maxtor have been leaps and bonds in this regards (read not always good, depends on model, but lately pretty good).
    Your call. You cant go wrong with any.
