Missing 3 GB of storage?

Hello, I just got my iPod Touch 16 GB 4th generation for my birthday, on December 10, and I have 190 apps, 5 GB of photos/videos, 5 songs, a few eBooks, and two TV show episodes. I thought (and read) that the 16 GB held 10,000 apps, so I thought I would have more than enough space. Well, two days ago, I was about to download a tv show from iTunes, and it said that I did not have enough storage. I went to the 'about' section of my settings, and found that the capacity of my iPod was 13.7 GB, not 16 at all. I had only a couple hundred MB's open. So, I opened iCloud, and I know you get 5 gb of storage there, but I'm not sure how to access it. How do I do that, and why do I only have 13 GB of storage? Thank you.

Well, the iPod really is 16 GB, but all of the pre-installed software makes it hold less space. Also, TV shows take up a lot of space.

  • RAID is not an option/not available/missing in BIOS Storage Options?? HP Envy 700-047c

Hello - I have an HP Envy 700-047c. It came with a 2 TB HD. I put in another 2 TB HD same model/type. The system in the BIOS and Windows 8 sees the new drive. However, when I boot and go into F10 BIOS/HP Setup utility, go to Storage menu, select Storage Options, my only option is SATA Emulation and the only 2 select options it shows are AHCI and IDE. This is where I should see RAID option - it is not there.
I tried changing SATA ports on the motherboard - no help.
I tried disabling Secure Boot and UEFI and chose Legacy - no help.
I updated to latest BIOS for this PC - no help.
I installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology software and can see the 2 drives within Windows but there is no create option on the Status page like there should be (because you need to enable RAID in the BIOS which the option is missing).
I looked on the motherboard and don't see any jumpers that are labeled RAID (ie. some physical trip).
I called Intel and they confirmed the Intel chipset I have is RAID capable but to contact HP to see if they turned off. I contacted HP and twice they said they are not trained in RAID and do not support it. I contacted the local Microcenter tech support and they found a link on this website talking about how to go to the area I'm in - but the RAID option is not there.
Does anyone know how to get RAID enabled on this HP 700-047c in the BIOS/Setup utility? Help!

UPDATE BY ORIGINAL POSTER TO BELOW - The below is not accurate about RAID being disabled on "All" HP home line computers per research from Big_Dave (Thanks!) - It is what I was told by the HP Escalation Team Friday however - not just my MB but all - which we are seeing is not correct per the customizable Envy model in the following post. It may just be certain models or just my current model's MB...?? I struck thru some of the detail, but leaving it mostly intact so others can see the misinformation I was given.
Thanks for passing along. Below is what I found out about how RAID is disabled by HP now.
I also had an email going back and forth with HP support and they sent to HP Escalation team who I ended up talking with yesterday who researched it for a day and found out that HP has disabled RAID on the motherboard for all of their home PC line! As we were thinking above. Only servers can do RAID now is the word.  Hard to believe they'd do that. The rep said he believed it had to do with people calling HP when they lost data due to setting up using RAID 0 and thinking that protected them (all it does is make a big disk, no redundancy like RAID 1).
To me that is no reason to turn off a feature of the Intel chipset. They also don't make this clear to any HP employee as no one I've talked to (3 now along with chat and email) knew that HP is crippling the capabilities of the MB and chipset. I even have a several year old HP Pavilion that has RAID enabled on it under my desk and has saved me twice from disk failure (running RAID 1 mirroring).
I'm pretty disappointed with HP decision to do this and that it's poorly recorded (in fact not recorded at all)  it so that I wasted hours upon days trying to figure it out with tech support people. If HP wants to remove a much needed service such as RAID it should be mandatory for them to disclaim that right in the Specfications sheet. RAID IS DISABLED AND CANNOT BE TURNED ON ON ANY HP HOME CONSUMER COMPUTER.
Note: I even called AMI (American Megatrend, Inc.) with HP on the line who said they sold the MB to HP fully capable of RAID which is what led the escalation rep to research to whomever he talked to and found out HP is disabling it out the door to their unaware consumers.
I also asked if HP tech team disabled it, would they be willing to send me a BIOS flash to re-enable it - ie. make that an option for those who are knowledgeable about RAID and can setup. The response was they probably won't. I pressed a little but didn't get anywhere - seems like a reasonable request to me/option to keep people happy.
Luckily I'm within my return window and will be taking this computer back. Sad considering how much time I've put into it thinking I had a computer capable to do what I need.
Anyway - please help spread the word so HP can get this into their knowledge DB and boards that RAID is GONE - removed purposefully by HP.

  • "Compact Storage" webUI missing

    Hi,
My Oracle XE webUI is missing the "Administration > Storage > Compact Storage" option. I learned earlier this is because I've installed Apex.

  • Nexenta Storage Server - strange Error Message

    Dear all,
I try to add a nexenta storage box to my vdi.
When selecting the Storage Pool I get the following error:

I found some (two) other guys with the same Problem:
    http://nexenta.com/corp/forum?func=view&id=892&catid=9
This was left unanswered, but back then VDI didn't support comstar which is the only supported target software in nexenta.
    http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=136923
This one's a little more recent. AND like the originator states, COMSTAR is supposed to be supported in VDI now.
I'm using an all-in-one-box installation so I thought that like relling said the underlaying solaris my vdi is running on could be the problem.
Does anyone know how that "*.checkForPackage" works?
If its for a simple pkginfo there shouldn't be a problem.

    hi there
You can use the transation MM01 for extend the material to an storage location, just go to mm01 give your material code go for organization elements mention your plant where you have already created the material and give the storage location in which you want to extend your material, after view selection when you will press enter the system will issue the message that material already exists and will be extended for say X storage location.
Even you can extend your material to an storage location using transaction MMSC by using materal code and plant combination.
    Reward if usefull

  • IPad Retina Mini storage stats sluggish..

I've had my Retina Mini for a couple of weeks now and it runs just fine but every time I want to see how much space is left on the ipad (it's only a 16gb so space is tight!), it takes between 40 seconds and a minute to tell me I have X mb/gb left!
In case you're not sure how to get this info, it's in Settings, General, Usage. The applist appears on the top right eventually.
On my wife's ipad 3, running the same 7.04, it takes about 2 seconds. Both of us have a nearly identical app list installed!
I've tried reseting, restoring but it doesn't make a difference at all. Has anyone had this problem?

    Hi maxgkx,
I understand you would like more information about storage capacity, and how it is reported. The following article provides helpful information on the topic:
How OS X and iOS report storage capacity - Apple Support
Understanding storage capacity in iPad, iPhone, iPod
When you view the storage capacity of your iPod, iPhone, iPad, or other electronic devices within its operating system, the capacity is reported using the the binary system (base 2) of measurement. In binary, 1 GB is calculated as 1,073,741,824 bytes.
For example: The way decimal and binary numeral systems measure a GB is what causes a 32 GB storage device to appear as approximately 28 GB when detailed by its operating system, even though the storage device still has 32 billion bytes (not 28 billion bytes), as reported.
You can see this difference if you look at how your computer summarizes the capacity of your iPod, iPad, or iPhone’s storage when the device is connected to your computer. You will also see this difference in the About menu on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The important point to understand is that the available storage capacity is the same no matter which system (decimal or binary) is used. Nothing is missing.
The storage media in your Apple product, like all storage devices, uses some of its capacity for formatting, so actual capacity available for applications and files will be less. In addition, other factors, such as pre-installed systems or other software and media, will also use part of the available storage capacity.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Bobby_D

  • Picking without Storage Location

    Hi,
Right now we are able to put a pick quantity to the delivery, even without Storage Location, in Picking Tab.
Why is this possible? Can we put a control to prevent the user from input of pick quantity if there is no Storage Location?

    Hi,
Thru Incompletion Procedure ,you can make a storage location as required field. While they are going to create delivery if they miss to maintain storage location then system will show this field in incompletion log.
Let me know if you need any further help on this.

  • Oracle VM missing features disscussion.

I work in shop where we have 13 blades running VMware 5.1 and 7 blades running Oracle VM 3.2.6 because of this I have become very familiar with both products. While I think Oracle VM is a wonderful product; it is sadly missing key features that would make it a real replacement for VMware in our I.T. shop.
The 3 top features I think it is missing are:
Live Storage Migration similar to VMware vStorage Motion.
Live Snapshot and Cloning of Virtual Machines.
Integrated Disaster Recover Site Management and failover capabilities, similar to VMware SRM.
I am curious to see what others think are missing features that Oracle VM could benefit from.

If you don't have libaio on your o/s CD, you can get it from rpmfind.net. It's a prerequisite for Oracle Database XE, which is used as part of Oracle VM Manager. When you've got the rpm, follow the instructions from the Oracle VM Manager Installation Guide (I love copy/paste, don't you?)
    The libaio.rpm File
Ensure that the libaio.rpm package is installed. You can find libaio.rpm from the
ISO packages of Oracle Enterprise Linux. The libaio version varies depending on the
Oracle Enterprise Linux version. For Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5, the libaio
    version is libaio-0.3.105-2.
    1. Before installing libaio.rpm, check if it is already installed. To determine if
libaio.rpm is already installed, enter the following command:
    # /bin/rpm -q libaio.i386
This command will display the existing libaio.rpm version. For example:
    libaio-0.3.106-3.2
If no information is displayed, then you need to install libaio.rpm.
    2. Go to the directory where libaio.rpm is located, and enter the following
    command:
    # rpm -ivh libaio-0.3.105-2.i386.rpm

  • Hyper-V cluster Backup causes virtual machine reboots for common Cluster Shared Volumes members.

I am having a problem where my VMs are rebooting while other VMs that share the same CSV are being backed up. I have provided all the information that I have gather to this point below. If I have missed anything, please let me know.
    My HyperV Cluster configuration:
5 Node Cluster running 2008R2 Core DataCenter w/SP1. All updates as released by WSUS that will install on a Core installation
Each Node has 8 NICs configured as follows:
     NIC1 - Management/Campus access (26.x VLAN)
     NIC2 - iSCSI dedicated (22.x VLAN)
     NIC3 - Live Migration (28.x VLAN)
     NIC4 - Heartbeat (20.x VLAN)
     NIC5 - VSwitch (26.x VLAN)
     NIC6 - VSwitch (18.x VLAN)
     NIC7 - VSwitch (27.x VLAN)
     NIC8 - VSwitch (22.x VLAN)
Following hotfixes additional installed by MS guidance (either while build or when troubleshooting stability issue in Jan 2013)
KB2531907 - Was installed during original building of cluster
KB2705759 - Installed during troubleshooting in early Jan2013
KB2684681 - Installed during troubleshooting in early Jan2013
KB2685891 - Installed during troubleshooting in early Jan2013
KB2639032 - Installed during troubleshooting in early Jan2013
Original cluster build was two hosts with quorum drive. Initial two hosts were HST1 and HST5
Next host added was HST3, then HST6 and finally HST2.
NOTE: HST4 hardware was used in different project and HST6 will eventually become HST4
Validation of cluster comes with warning for following things:
     Updates inconsistent across hosts
I have tried to manually install "missing" updates and they were not applicable
Most likely cause is different build times for each machine in cluster
HST1 and HST5 are both the same level because they were built at same time
HST3 was not rebuilt from scratch due to time constraints and it actually goes back to Pre-SP1 and has a larger list of updates that others are lacking and hence the inconsistency
HST6 was built from scratch but has more updates missing than 1 or 5 (10 missing instead of 7)
HST2 was most recently built and it has the most missing updates (15)
Storage - List Potential Cluster Disks
It says there are Persistent Reservations on all 14 of my CSV volumes and thinks they are from another cluster.
They are removed from the validation set for this reason. These iSCSI volumes/disks were all created new for
this cluster and have never been a part of any other cluster.
When I run the Cluster Validation wizard, I get a slew of Event ID 5120 from FailoverClustering. Wording of error:
Cluster Shared Volume 'Volume12' ('Cluster Disk 13') is no longer available on this node because of
'STATUS_MEDIA_WRITE_PROTECTED(c00000a2)'. All I/O will temporarily be queued until a path to the
      volume is reestablished.
Under Storage and Cluster Shared VOlumes in Failover Cluster Manager, all disks show online and there is no negative effect of the errors.
    Cluster Shared Volumes
We have 14 CSVs that are all iSCSI attached to all 5 hosts. They are housed on an HP P4500G2 (LeftHand) SAN.
I have limited the number of VMs to no more than 7 per CSV as per best practices documentation from HP/Lefthand
VMs in each CSV are spread out amonst all 5 hosts (as you would expect)
Backup software we use is BackupChain from BackupChain.com.
    Problem we are having:
When backup kicks off for a VM, all VMs on same CSV reboot without warning. This normally happens within seconds of the backup starting
What have to done to troubleshoot this:
We have tried rebalancing our backups
Originally, I had backup jobs scheduled to kick off on Friday or Saturday evening after 9pm
2 or 3 hosts would be backing up VMs (Serially; one VM per host at a time) each night.
I changed my backup scheduled so that of my 90 VMs, only one per CSV is backing up at the same time
I mapped out my Hosts and CSVs and scheduled my backups to run on week nights where each night, there
is only one VM backed up per CSV. All VMs can be backed up over 5 nights (there are some VMs that don't
get backed up). I also staggered the start times for each Host so that only one Host would be starting
in the same timeframe. There was some overlap for Hosts that had backups that ran longer than 1 hour.
Testing this new schedule did not fix my problem. It only made it more clear. As each backup timeframe
started, whichever CSV the first VM to start was on would have all of their VMs reboot and come back up.
I then thought maybe I was overloading the network still so I decided to disable all of the scheduled backup
and run it manually. Kicking off a backup on a single VM, in most cases, will cause the reboot of common
     CSV members.
Ok, maybe there is something wrong with my backup software.
Downloaded a Demo of Veeam and installed it onto my cluster.
Did a test backup of one VM and I had not problems.
Did a test backup of a second VM and I had the same problem. All VMs on same CSV rebooted
Ok, it is not my backup software. Apparently it is VSS. I have looked through various websites. The best troubleshooting
site I have found for VSS in one place it on BackupChain.com (http://backupchain.com/hyper-v-backup/Troubleshooting.html)
I have tested almost every process on there list and I will lay out results below:
      1. I have rebooted HST6 and problems still persist
      2. When I run VSSADMIN delete shadows /all, I have no shadows to delete on any of my 5 nodes
When I run VSSADMIN list writers, I have no error messages on any writers on any node...
      3. When I check the listed registry key, I only have the build in MS VSS writer listed (I am using software VSS)
      4. When I run VSSADMIN Resize ShadowStorge command, there is no shadow storage on any node
      5. I have completed the registration and service cycling on HST6 as laid out here and most of the stuff "errors"
Only a few of the DLL's actually register.
      6. HyperV Integration Services were reconciled when I worked with MS in early January and I have no indication of
       further issue here.
      7. I did not complete the step to delete the Subscriptions because, again, I have no error messages when I list writers
      8. I removed the Veeam software that I had installed to test (it hadn't added any VSS Writer anyway though)
      9. I can't realistically uninstall my HyperV and test VSS
      10. Already have latest SPs and Updates
      11. This is part of step 5 so I already did this. This seems to be a rehash of various other stratgies
I have used the VSS Troubleshooter that is part of BackupChain (Ctrl-T) and I get the following error:
ERROR: Selected writer 'Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer' is in failed state!
      - Status: 8 (VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_PREPARE_SNAPSHOT)
      - Writer Failure code: 0x800423f0 (<Unknown error code>)

VSS snapshot creation failed with result: 8000FFFF
VSS errors in event viewer. Below are representative errors I have received from various Nodes of my cluster:
I have various of the below spread out over all hosts except for HST6
Source: VolSnap, Event ID 10, The shadow copy of volume took too long to install
Source: VolSnap, Event ID 16, The shadow copies of volume x were aborted because volume y, which contains shadow copy storage for this shadow copy, wa force dismounted.
Source: VolSnap, Event ID 27, The shadow copies of volume x were aborted during detection because a critical control file could not be opened.
I only have one instance of each of these and both of the below are from HST3
Source: VSS, Event ID 12293, Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on a Shadow Copy Provider {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}. Routine details RevertToSnashot [hr = 0x80042302, A Volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an
    unexpected error.
Source: VSS, Event ID 8193, Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine GetOverlappedResult.  hr = 0x80070057, The parameter is incorrect.
So, basically, everything I have tried has resulted in no success towards solving this problem.
I would appreciate anything assistance that can be provided.
    Thanks,
    Charles J. Palmer

    Tim,
Thanks for the reply. I ran the first two commands and got this:
    Name
    Role Metric
    Cluster Network 1
    3  10000
    Cluster Network 2 - HeartBeat                              1   1300
    Cluster Network 3 - iSCSI                                    0  10100
    Cluster Network 4 - LiveMigration                         1   1200
When you look at the properties of each network, this is how I have it configured:
Cluster Network 1 - Allow cluster network communications on this network and Allow clients to connect through this network (26.x subnet)
Cluster Network 2 - Allow cluster network communications on this network. New network added while working with Microsoft support last month. (28.x subnet)
Cluster Network 3 - Do not allow cluster network communications on this network. (22.x subnet)
Cluster Network 4 - Allow cluster network communications on this network. Existing but not configured to be used by VMs for Live Migration until MS corrected. (20.x subnet)
Should I modify my metrics further or are the current values sufficient.
I worked with an MS support rep because my cluster (once I added the 5th host) stopped being able to live migrate VMs and I had VMs host jumping on startup. It was a mess for a couple of days. They had me add the Heartbeat network as part of the solution
to my problem. There doesn't seem to be anywhere to configure a network specifically for CSV so I would assume it would use (based on my metrics above) Cluster Network 4 and then Cluster Network 2 for CSV communications and would fail back to the Cluster Network
    1 if both 2 and 4 were down/inaccessible.
As to the iSCSI getting a second NIC, I would love to but management wants separation of our VMs by subnet and role and hence why I need the 4 VSwitch NICs. I would have to look at adding an additional quad port NIC to my servers and I would be having to
use half height cards for 2 of my 5 servers for that to work.
But, on that note, it doesn't appear to actually be a bandwidth issue. I can run a backup for a single VM and get nothing on the network card (It caused the reboots before any real data has even started to pass apparently) and still the problem occurs.
As to Backup Chain, I have been working with the vendor and they are telling my the issue is with VSS. They also say they support CSV as well. If you go to this page (http://backupchain.com/Hyper-V-Backup-Software.html)
they say they support CSVs. Their tech support has been very helpful but unfortunately, nothing has fixed the problem.
What is annoying is that every backup doesn't cause a problem. I have a daily backup of one of our machines that runs fine without initiating any additional reboots. But most every other backup job will trigger the VMs on the common CSV to reboot.
I understood about the updates but I had to "prove" it to the MS tech I was on the phone with and hence I brought it up. I understand on the storage as well. Why give a warning for something that is working though... I think that is just a poor indicator
that it doesn't explain that in the report.
At a loss for what else I can do,
    Charles J. Palmer

  • Suspend2 and the new archck kernel (2.6.15) with initrd

    Hi everybody,
Afret upgrade from archck 2.6.13 to 2.6.15 my system does not resume any longer. I think that I should follow the instruction at the http://suspend2.epfl.ch/HOWTO-2.html which says:
    Initrd/Initramfs's with Suspend2
Using an initrd with Suspend2 is possible. To use this, you MUST edit your linuxrc (or init) script to contain the line
    echo > /proc/suspend2/do_resume
BEFORE the script mounts your filesystem. If the line is missing, your system will not resume. If the line comes after mounting file systems, you will most likely suffer from filesystem corruption. You have been warned.
You can now recompile your kernel with Suspend2...
What file should I edit, I did not find any linuxrc file?
    Thanks in advance,
    mdv

This is the full dmesg output.

  • Anyone using Windows 7 RC on an R61 ? (Random freezing issues)

My R61 will randomly freeze for 2-3 minutes during which time it becomes unusable as I cannot move the cursor.  All programs stop responding for 2-3 minutes and suddenly the computer will snap out of it and become usable again.  This will happen probalby twice an hour when I'm using the laptop.
I've installed both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the Windows 7 RC and the freezing problem occurs on each.  This R61 has been running Windows XP flawlessly for 2 years now otherwise.
The 64 bit version of Windows 7 RC runs flawlessly on my desktop computer with many of the same programs installed so I'm guessing it's a driver incompatability with the my R61 that is causing the issue, I just can't narrow it down.

    RRC:
Take a look at this thread and see if the possibility of a missing Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver might be the cause of your problem.  Here's the link to the discussion thread:  T61 freezes every 15 minutes.
Also, have a look at this post, it might contain a golden nugget of information about something you may have overlooked:

  • Should I shoot RAW or JPG and what ratio should I pick when shooting stills?

I want to take artistic pictures. Does that mean I should shoot RAW and then deal with the settings in Photoshop? I realize I can't for the corporate photo contest because I am not allowed to Photoshop anything for the contest. And pictures at a party that I intend to share or immediately upload, I understand why I would not shoot RAW.
Are there other reasons not to do so?
Many of you know me. I have been shooting video for a while and I am just now starting to shoot stills. These are tough questions for me.
I always assumed I would shoot stills using the maximum frame size possible. However, I have other choices.
When the aspect ratio setting is [4:3]
    4608x3456 pixels, 3264x2448 pixels, 2336x1752 pixels
When the aspect ratio setting is [3:2]
    4608x3072 pixels, 3264x2176 pixels, 2336x1560 pixels
When the aspect ratio setting is [16:9]
    4608x2592 pixels, 3264x1840 pixels, 1920x1080 pixels
When the aspect ratio setting is [1:1 ]
    3456x3456 pixels, 2448x2448 pixels, 1744x1744 pixels
Now, to be honest, I can't think of a reason to shoot stills at any size other than the 4:3 based 4608x3456 except to save room on the memory card. But I figured I should probably ask just in case I am missing something. Storage is not an issue as far as I can tell at this time. I bought two 64GB cards and I will be able to use part of my 16GB Smartphone memory card for additional storage should the need arise. Most likely I will have plenty of room until I can copy over to my laptop and then on to an external drive.
    For reference: http://www.herviewphotography.com/2012/06/18/raw-vs-jpg-file-formats.html

    Steven,
You are correct, that you should not shoot the Holiday Party pics in RAW, as they will only be used to blackmail your boss, and co-workers, so JPEG would be adequate for that (unless you really need to do Photoshop work, to make the images more "compromising... ").
Now, shooting in Camera RAW has several advantages, and really only two disadvantages, that I can think of.
Camera RAW captures everything that the sensor can, but it is in unprocessed form (one of the disadvantages), and then Photoshop with the ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) can "process" your images. I do this, when I have real use for the Images. I have developed a Preset for my Nikon Camera RAW, for each camera, so it's fairly easy to batch process. I always Save_As PSD, since I will very likely do additional work (not useful for the company competition, but CAN be useful for those black-mail pictures, if you have much "work" to do).
I Save my NEF's (Nikon Camera RAW) Images, and then, in a separate folder, my processed PSD's. Those are sort of like duplicate transparencies, but with slightly different data in each. From the first, the NEF's, I could always run them through ACR again, should something happen to my PSD's. The reverse is not true, but at least I would have my PSD's.
For use in Video, I will almost always Open my PSD's, and Scale them, plus possibly do other Image-editing, per my needs. As I shoot at max. resolution (~ 4000 x 3000), I will be Scaling, and then likely Cropping (as most Projects now, are 16:9). If you do any 4:3 Projects, then you are already there, save for the Square Pixel vs Rectangular Pixel issue, but if you Scale the 4:3 material to 640 x 480 Square, it should look just fine in a 4:3 PAR=0.9 Project's Frame.
In camera, I always try to mentally compose the Images into 16:9 horizontal, if I see the potential for Video use. It's like keeping 11 x 17 in the back of my mind, when shooting for potential double-truck magazine use. [Back in film days, I made several Nikon screens, to fit various common uses.]
Though PrPro CS 6 (as of CS 5), with full CUDA/MPE support, can do a great job of Scaling, I still use my PS Actions to batch process entire folders, and usually on Bicubic Sharper, though for some subjects, I choose Bicubic Smoother. This means that I am not "pushing around" a bunch of unused pixels. I Crop each Image, and then Scale it, with the Action, to match the Frame Size of the Project.
Now, back to RAW. That allows you the full capture from the sensor, so you have everything to work with. I shoot in 16-bit, for as much data, as I can get. One step in the process, but usually well after the ARC processing, and Saving_As PSD, will be the conversion to 8-bit Mode, but only after ALL of my processing, as PrPro cannot use 16-bit Bit-Depth, for Video.
For just general shooting (usually "happy-snaps"), with no inteneded high-rez printing, or Video use, I will shoot JPEG, at the highest quality setting (lowest compression), and be done with it.
One disatvantage of Camera RAW is the write time to the card, but with newer cameras, and faster cards, that is less of a problem, than it once was. Still, even high-rez JPEG's, though they do require in-camera processing to JPEG, will allow one to shoot more quickly. [That can be very important with those Holiday Party pics, as who knows what will happen in the next nanosecond?]
To me, Camera RAW is sort of like standing in front of a photograph, with my entire set of cameras. I ask, "Is this really a great shot?" If so, out comes the 4 x 5. If the answer is "maybe," then I grab a Hassleblad. If the answer is "no, but it IS interesting," then the 35mm is my choice. Sort of the same thing, but instead of cameras, it's RAW vs High-rez JPEG.
    Just some thoughts.

  • Confirmation cancel

    hi
iam have confimered the order ,after that i have cancelled confirmation of the  the operation, but in co02 still dlv stauts is there and in Delivered tab qty is there.and stcok is there .but in co14 i chekced the confirmation cancel goodsmovemnet tab,in that 102 movment is there for fert ,iam using control key automatic good recipt.wat could be the reason

    Hi,
If you cancel a confirmation that triggered an automatic goods receipt then the cancellation tries to reverse the total quantity that was receipted.
If enough material was issued in the time between the confirmation and the cancellation of the confirmation to take the stock level BELOW the receipt quantity and stocks of the material/storage location are not allowed to go negative (default behaviour) then the system is not allowed to post the 102 movement as this would take the stock level below zero.
Any goods movement associated with a confirmation that fails to post is collected for further re-processing in transaction COGI.
If you select "Individual Records" then you will get a line per material/production order. Once you are in the main transaction, select the line that you are interested in and click on the alarm clock to see what the error is. Typical errors are not enough stock, missing batch or storage location details, date in the past.
If your missing movement is in COGI, you will need to make corrective action(s) in the system until you can save the line in COGI (which attempts to re-post the goods movement)
Hope that has answered your question

  • Stretch (campus) cluster and ASM bug 6656309

    Hi all
we have applied 6656309 patch in our Test environment and we think
to apply it also in Production soon.
    If anyone:
    - has a stretch (campus) 10.2.3 RAC cluster ,
    - is using ASM with storages in (at least) two different buildings,
    - is aware of bug 6656309 (and related 6360485, 6747864 for example),
    - plans to install the patch (it has been released for a few platforms),
    - wants to share his thoughts here,
    he is really welcome.
    Thanks
    Oscar Armanini
Please note that the patch applies to db executable(s), not ASM ones, but I prefer to post it in the ASM forum because the final result of the bug is that ASM does not declare the disks missing when one storage system get lost.

10gR2 has some limitations/issues in case of extended cluster(Read about re-silvering process in 10g). We put Extended cluster on Solaris, but we didn't use Failgroup due to same reason.
We used Sun cluster to mirror disk at OS level
we implemented 11g extended cluster on windows and it works like a charm. Of course it has it's own limitations (Placing 3rd voting issue in windows)
anyways, for extended cluster 11g is best option so far, if possible.
