Missing 5.1 volume controls in windows xp

) I have audigy se card, tried both 620 and 62 driver. The thing is that I dont have volume controls for all channels when set to 5. speakers. There is allways only master volume, that controls left and right speaker. Is there any way to get volume controls per channel? I will try SB P7X Series Support Pack 2.0 and see if that fixes anything. OS is windows xp sp3.
Thanks in advance.

Also, i do not know if it's of interest, but the reinstall did not reinstall AAS. It was there when I followed the initial uninstall phase.
Yeah, that's of interest. If AAS isn't installed, Safari shouldn't launch. (I'm more used to it producing launch error messages, rather than an error-message-free launch error, though.)
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Pressing keyboard volume control causes window to minimize

Hi there, I am a recent convert from Ubuntu to Archlinux and have my system running well, except for one minor niggle - when I press the volume up/down on my keyboard (Microsoft Wired Keyboard) the volume 'popup' window causes the current window to minimize if it's currently fullscreen.  I have seen this happen in the game Osmos and when viewing fullscreen videos on youtube.
In previous Linux installations I didn't have this problem.  Can anyone give me some pointers please?

    It's not a bug - it's a feature!
Let's see, you've come here from Ubuntu, you're using Microsoft keyboard - he's a witch!
I'm not sure if those will help, but it's all I have for you atm:

  • 5.1 Option has vanished from Creative volume control...

I have Creative's 5800 5.1 speaker system, and creative volume control on my computer. Used to be, I could just select 5.1 in the creative volume control settings and there you have it. Magically this seems to have vanished from the Speaker/headphone selection options leaving me only with 4.1 and 7.1 as options. Any idea why or how I may get the 5.1 option back?

Managed to answer my own question if you install the creative console launcher version 2.60.29 it installs the volume panel as well and you can then install the newer version of the console launcher which will uninstall the older console launcher but leave the volume panel in place. i would say one thing though i'm surprised creative seem to have removed this usefull add-on (volume panel) installer from the newest creaitve console launcher install as i find it a far better volume control than windows and would think they would ship it with all versions of the console launcher not just the older one avaliable for [email protected]

  • Volume Control for Application

I am looking for an appliaction that can allow me to mute certain applications at a time. Audio Hijack Pro™ - allows this functionality, but is really an application to do recordings, and as a major app is rather expensive. Does anyone know of a little tool, free or paid that allows me to do what I can with the volume control in Windows?
Thanks for any and all replies.

I'm the same I've got my E63 and according to the tutorial, one can change the volume using Fn + Scroll Up/Down keys while on the home screen. It doesn't work.
    anyone have this problem?

  • Volume control missing in taskbar

I have a HP G60-235DX laptop. I have noticed that the volume control in the bottom right taskbar is missing. When I right click on the taskbar>properties>notification area, Windows will not allow me to click on volume control. When I go to control panel>sound, I cannot click on default, apply, properties or configure. I can control the volume control with the function & sound keys assocaited wit hthe side number keypad. If anyone knows how to restore this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    George
UPDATE:   After exhausting all options, I turned the laptop off, then back on & the volume control reappeared in the lower right taskbar & all other volume controls are now working properly as usual. Thank you.

    Hi 333Help,
    Welcome to the HP Forum!
    Try this:
Control Panel > icon view > Notification Area Icons >
CHECK "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar"
    OK
If you want to adjust the settings for some of the Icon Notifications individually:
UNCHECK the setting > go into the Window where the settings are located and select how you want each of the Items to respond... Once you have everything the way you like it, go back...
    CHECK "Always show all icons...."
    OK
    I hope this helps!
    Good Luck!

    Hi:
This would be the chipset driver you need...
    http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/9701/en-us
After you install the chipset driver and reboot, try the audio driver directly from Realtek.
Accept the agreement.  DL and install the first driver listed in green.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi NareshKumar,
Volume control always needed by play some media stuff, could you please tell us why and where do you need the volume control.
Basically as I know if we play the sound by MediaElement, it has a
Volume property, or what kind of media play control are you using?
Indeed, there is no API that can directly control the system volume, only user can manage that.

  • Brightness and volume control keys not working with windows 7?

brightness, volume control and some other keys keys are not working with windows 7 with macbook pro retina. Can I fix it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Have you installed Boot Camp drivers? You need them to make your computer work properly on Windows, and to use your function keys as Play or Pause, volume and brightness keys.
To install them, follow these steps:
    1. Press the X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X.
    2. Open Boot Camp Assistant and tick only the option to download Windows support software.
    3. Windows support software will be downloaded and Boot Camp Assistant will ask you to burn it into a DVD or USB drive, so do it.
    4. Start into Windows, insert the DVD or USB drive and install Boot Camp drivers. Your Mac and your volume and brightness keys will be working after installing the drivers

  • I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    5. Question: I am no longer able to use the volume control buttons ( /-/or mute) on my key board in Windows 7

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50856.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

  • SB Audigy2 w/Vista: Creative Volume Control conflict with Windows Volume Control(sndvol.ex

    Hi Everyone,
I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a SoundBlaster Audigy 2(WDM) card. I have a few no-mind questions about how these things all work together:
. After I installed Creative's Vista driver upgrade for the SB Audigy 2 series, I noticed that there are now two volume control icons in the system tray. One is for the Creative Volume Control. The other is the original Windows Volume Control (sndvol.exe). Should these two controls be running at the same time?
    2. The Master Volume is a lot lower in Vista than it was in XP. When I let Vista pick the sound drivers the first time around, I figured the lower volume had something to do with those. So I downloaded and installed the Vista SB Audigy 2 Driver Upgrade from Creative's website. The volume is still very low, however, and I have to peak all my volume controls to hear much of anything. Does anyone have any ideas why this should be so?
Thanks to all who took the time to read this! Have a good day,
    Big Al Mintaka

    Hi DakkonA,
Have you been in contact with Support? I would advised you to get in touch with them to rectify this issue.

  • ITunes disables my Windows sounds and takes away the volume control

I have searched and found no answer to this- others have posted this same question.
I installed itunes and it removed my volume control from the task bar. It disabled my Windows sounds and took away the volume control from the System Tray next to clock. My media buttons no longer affect the volume either. I have to go into control panel to change my system volume.
At first- it only happened when my daughter would plug in her iPod and use iTunes, and then after we'd reboot the computer, the volume control would come back and no longer be disabled. Each time she used iTunes, it would happen again. Then a computer restart would bring it back. Now all of a sudden, nothing brings it back. I have to go about 4-5 screens deep into Control Panel to adjust the volume there. This is ridiculous and an absolutely unacceptable side effect of iTunes.
Does someone have an answer or do we need to delete iTunes and never again buy a crappy apple product?
    Message was edited by: sjs.chowchow

    Figured it out!
Go to Control Panel -> Sound
In the “Playback” tab, click on your Speakers to highlight it, then click Properties. In the “Advanced” tab, under “Exclusive Mode”, uncheck the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. I restarted my computer after that, but I am not sure if you need to.
Then you can go to your taskbar and right-click and choose “Properties”. In the “Notification Area” tab, under System icons, “Volume” is no longer grayed out and you can now check the box to make it show up down near your clock again.

  • Titanium Dolby Digital - Windows Volume Controls Not Function

I am extremely happy with the Titanium because it finally elminated the 4GB Snap-Crackle-Pop issues I've been having since I owned this motherboard.
However, I've noticed that when I enabled Dolby Digital encoding over an optical output the master windows volume controls and muting do not affect the audio output at all.
Using the master windows volume controls with the analog or unencoded digital optical outputs work fine. It is only when using Dolby Digital encoding that I see this strange behavior. In-game and application-level volume controls & muting work fine; it is only the master windows volume controls that are 'ignored' when using Dolby Digital.
I'm still happy to see Dolby Digital encoding on this card, and very pleased that I'm using 4GB now without crackling in games or during music, but hopefully this Dolby Digital issue can be fixed.
Have any other users observed this odd Dolby Digital behavior?

Unfortunately (for me) the two of you are correct and windows volume controls have no effect in Vista.
Auzentech has this on their FAQ:
Q : After installing the sound card and connecting it to my surround sound system using S/PDIF output, keyboard and Control Panel adjustments to Volume and Balance either do not work or have minimal affect. Is that normal
A : With Digital Audio output, output levels are controlled by the wave volume settings. Multimedia keyboards and remote controls only adjust the master volume. The third-party application "Volume Tracker" corrects the situation by linking wave volume and master volume. Volume Tracker is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Windows Media Center.
    I also found this article:
"Another direct consequence of transmitting a compressed audio signal instead of an uncompressed audio signal (more commonly known as PCM) is that the volume of that signal cannot be modified once it has been encoded. Because the bits in an encoded signal no longer directly correspond to the volume of that signal, it is impossible to increase the volume until it is decoded. This explains why your PC cannot control the volume of your sound when you are using Dolby Digital or DTS as the output. The connected device will be the only place where the volume can be changed."
    http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archi've/2008/03/04/using-s-pdif-to-send-audio-from-your-pc.aspx
So it would seem that this behavior is not only intended, but apparently unchangeable in Vista. In XP there is a utility (Volume Tracker) that can fix this, reportedly. This utility has no effect in Vista.

  • ITouch 1st gen OS 3.1.2 - missing touch volume control

Does anyone know if apple has made it possible to upgrade the 1st gen iTouch to OS 3.1.2 without losing the volume controls? I have read some people saying that they are missing volume controls and others just forgot to plug in their headphones. Does the iTouch volume control work on a 1st gen? I really hope that I don't have to upgrade hardware to get the new OS. Any help would be appreciated. Also, is it possible to downgrade firmware to a version that supports touch volume, if it's necessary?

I tried restarting my iPod Touch by holding down the top button until it gives the option to power off. This didn't seem to help, as there was still "no volume available", however, when I moved the iPod Touch from the dock and plugged the jack directly into the port, the volume control reappeared immediately, and when I moved it back to the dock, it stayed present and is still there now. Earlier today, when I used my headphones, there was also "no volume available", so perhaps power cycling did help?

  • Swapping of window and Volume control

    1) My X 61 volume control (Fn volume increase and decrease) not functioning since the first day I bought this machine which is in 2008, warranty still valid (bought together with 3 years warranty) but the only problem is that my locations is for from the service center. The service center was in Kuala Lumpur and I'm staying at Miri Sarawak (the only transportations was by plane). is there any service center in Miri?
    2) I also have R51 running on window vista buisness ultimate (came with R51 bought in 2007) can I use this OS to subtitude it with my current X 61 which is running on window vista home basic (came with X 61)? if yes how? did I need to send it to service center for swapping?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi sang, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
    1) There is no Fn volume increase and decrease key combination on the X61, just the dedicated volume increase and decrease buttons.
    2) No you can't use your R51 Vista Ultimate license on your Vista Home Basic X61. The licenses bundled with complete systems are "OEM" licenses, and are tied to the hardware they shipped with. You can purchase a Vista Ultimate upgrade though, and that doesn't require a trip to the service center.
