Missing account options in Notes on Mac

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and the new Notes app.  I set up a me.com email account in order to sync my notes between my r-MBP, my iPad (1st gen) and my iPhone (4).  I understand you are supposed to be able to store a note locally i.e. On My Mac or on the iCloud 'account.'
There are account options available on my phone ("On My Phone") and on my iPad ("On My iPad") as well as the iCloud location, so that I can put a new note locally or on the cloud.  However, there is no such option in Notes on my Mac.
Strangest thing is, it was there initially in my user login, but not in my husband's (on same Mac).  Now, after turning ON/OFF the iCloud sync a number of times to try to get this to work, now I no longer get the account options either.  By this, I mean that in the Notes window, the far left column only shows the iCloud set of notes and not an "On My Mac" set/option.
There is no longer a "Default Account" option under the Notes menu, either.
How do I select whether to keep a note on my Mac or send it to/keep it on the Cloud?

OK, I tried that.  I could create a folder, but it put the folder in my iCloud account because, of course, there is not another account present.  The Help says you can move a folder, i.e. drag it to another account, but since there is nothing to drag it to, this doesn't work.  What I'm saying is - making a folder didn't create another account to put the folder into.

  • IPv4 reservations check all of Option 61, not just MAC address

I am trying to use Server 2012 R2 DHCP to assign IPv4 addresses in a mixed network.
Most systems send a very brief Client Identifier (Option 61) which includes only hardware type and MAC address.  Some systems (most importantly Fedora 21 in my case) send more information including an IAID, DUID type, and time in addition to hardware
type and MAC address.  MAC address still comes at the end of the option.
I am attempting to use reservations to assign addresses to workstations, but DHCP doesn't seem to know what to do with the extended options sent by Fedora 21; it checks all of the client identifier against the MAC address and then rejects the request because
the client identifier has additional information.  Has anyone found a server setting to resolve this?  Once a Fedora client is set up it can be configured to send only the MAC address and hardware type in Option 61, but I am looking for something
that will work with the default options.  It seems odd to me that DHCP requires a MAC address to identify clients in a reservation, but compares the MAC address to all of the contents of Option 61.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that DHCP server(Windows Server 2012) can’t reserve IP address to Fedora 21, due to extended options(61) sent by this client.
Windows DHCP server, reservation is based on MAC address. as you mentioned that DHCP server will check the message sent from the client, if the matched MAC address has been detected, reserved IP address will assign to the client.
As far as I know, there is no additional setting for Windows DHCP server to control the identifiable field of message sent from client.
Configure the Fedora client to send only the MAC address and hardware type in Option 61, could be a better way to resolve this problem.
    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang

  • Why is accounts options missing on notes

i have an iphone 4s and an ipad 3d gen.  I use notes daily, in both devices the accounts options was shown always. I updated the iphone to iOS 7.0.2, but the ipad is still on ios 6.  Anyway, someday after the update, i had to disable the mobile data, later i turned it on again. And tadaaaa there was no accounts options in my notes app on my iphone. In my ipad it is right there, but in my iphone not. I heard that ios7 had some bugs about it, i don't real,y know about this.
I want to know how to have the accounts options back on my iphone. And how to sync the notes that are "On my ipad" to icloud notes.
Yes, i already have an icloud account, so the answer is not creating an account (i was reading in some otther discussion around here).

It's on. I tried turning it off and on again. Someone tells me to delete the account before turning it off and back on. But I don't know.

  • No option to create a .Mac account type

I've noticed that I no longer have the option available to create a .Mac account type. Only IMAP, POP and Exchange are available. This used to work ok, but since I had some mail problems a while ago and I was deleting the plist files, etc, and re-installed mail, this option has now disappeared.
I have again deleted the mail plist preferences file, but the option to create a .Mac account is unavailable.
I do have access to my .Mac mail by setting it up as an IMAP account, but I miss out on .Mac specific features, such as being able to select my alias addresses to send from.
Does anyone have an idea on how to restore the .Mac account type option?

Reinstalling Mail is rarely necessary or appropriate to solve a problem. It certainly cannot fix anything that could be wrong with the data stored within your home folder, for example, and may even introduce new issues if not done properly.
In particular, system updates often include updates for applications that are part of Mac OS X, such as Mail. As a result of having reinstalled Mail, you may now have a version of that application older than what corresponds to the version of Mac OS X you’re running. Or it could be that you’ve removed the AccountTypes folder from /Library/Mail/ (not to be confused with ~/Library/Mail/).
Since you did this because of some other (unspecified) problems, verify/repair the startup disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update for PowerPC
Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update for Intel
After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk and back up before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

  • Accounts button in Notes missing intermittently Touch 4G

My Accounts button in Notes is missing intermittently on my Touch 4G. Latest iOS.
It is just to the left of the top of the Notes window.
    Anyone else have this issue?
    Google search turns up nothing.
    Thanks ... Ken

Okay I figured this thing out. The accounts button is only there in one of two cases: 1) you have two email accounts that can also sync notes, for instance, Yahoo and MobileMe, or 2) if you created a note on your device BEFORE setting up a mail account with notes syncing and then subsequently set up say, a MobileMe account for instance.
#2 is what what happened in my case. I had created a note on my device before I set up my MobileMe account. By default, this note was local on "On My iPhone". Then I set up my MobileMe account and all my notes created in Apple Mail were pulled down from the server to my device. Now I had the "Accounts" tab in the Notes app allowing me to view "All Notes" (the one local plus all my MobileMe network notes), notes "On My iPhone" allowing me to view the local note, and "MobileMe" that allowed me to view only the MobileMe network notes. Then I deleted the local note, and the Accounts tab disappeared, because now, by default, I only had MobileMe network notes on my device. Once the accounts tab disappeared, the only way for me to get it back was delete my MobileMe account and all it's data from my device, create a new local note, and then set up my MobileMe account again and pull down all my network notes and other data from the server again. Once I did that, the Accounts tab came back, and I had the choices again for "All Notes", "On My iPhone", and "MobileMe", and also had the option in settings to choose the default location for new notes in the Settings app.
If you do not have an account set up on your phone that can sync notes OTA (over the air), then all notes you create will be local and the only way to sync them back to your computer will be when you connect the iPhone to your Mac with the USB sync cable, and have notes syncing turned on in iTunes under the "Info" tab in your iPhone settings.
    That's it.

  • Notes accounts option not appearing in iPad

I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad3, both running iOS 6.0.1. I don't have Notes active in my iCloud account on either device. I'm using the same Gmail account on both devices with Mail, Calendars, & Notes turned ON and Archive Messages turned OFF.
On the iPhone, if I click on Notes (under Settings) I can see Default Account and it's set to Gmail. Also, if I click on the Notes app I have an Accounts button
On the iPad though, if i click on Notes (under Settings) all that shows up are the Fonts. Also if I click on the Notes app, I see no Accounts button
Reading the iPad User Guide for iOS 6.0 (page 71) it indicates this function should work. The iPhone User Guide and the iPad User Guide have the same information relative to Notes Accounts.
Am I missing something, shouldn't I be able to have Accounts on the Notes app in both the iPhone and the iPad?

The AirPlay option only shows if you have an AirPly device ready to accept streaming. You can't steam to a computer unless you use a third-party program like
Reflector - AirPlay mirror your iPhone or iPad to any Mac or PC, wirelessly.

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card.

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

I've been on the phone with yahoo mail and they've verified that my account settings are correct and I can send email from yahoo. I can receive emails via Mac mail, but just can't send them. Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

all of the music from my itunes is missing.  I do not have a Mac or PC, how do I get my music back?

If the music was purchased from iTunes and if you are in a country where music can be redownloaded and it's still available in the store, then you should be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your device, or turn on Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under the 'Show All' heading) 'on' on the device and it should then show in the Music app with a cloud icon against them for redownloading

I am setting up a new iTunes account and do not have a credit card.  When I am setting the new account up it does NOT give me an option of "none" in lieu of an actual credit card. What do I do?

How did you create it ? There are instructions on this page for creating a new account (the instructions won't work with existing existing account) without giving credt card details : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
e.g. if currently logged into an account then log of it, then find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price', and you should then be able to create a new account during the 'buying' process and get 'none' as an option on the payments screen
