Missing ActiveX DLLs

Good morning.
After deploying Adobe Reader 11.0.08 within my environment, I have received multiple reports of users being unable to launch PDFs in the browser.  Upon further research, the following files are missing on the reported computers.
Location:     C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\
Files:            AcroIEHelper.dll; AcroIEHelperShim.dll; AcroPDF.dll; pdfshell.dll
The users are able to open PDFs in the full Reader application, but not within Internet Explorer.  After running a repair or re-install of the application, the ActiveX components appear and the user is able to function normally again.  Looking into the logs, the application exists successfully with a code of 0.
I am unable to reproduce the error myself, but have received more than 20 reports of the issue now.

Good morning.
How did you deploy Reader (SCCM, GPO, AIP)? What command line did you use. This was deployed with SCCM.  After building the MST to be silent, I am running the setup.exe in the package, like I have done all previous versions.
Were there any customizations via MST?Yes.
Accept EULA, Remove all versions of Reader, Run silent, Suppress Reboot.
Remove desktop icon, Prevent WebMail profile, disable product updates and all online features.
Is it a fresh install or you just deployed the patch? This is a full install, not just applying the patch, as I had issues with workstations failing the patch upgrade.
What was the version on users machine before deploying the patch?90% of the workstations were on 11.0.06.
Is the the whole ActiveX folder deleted or just the files inside it?For the most part, I believe it was just the DLLs that were removed, not the whole directory.
I do not have any logs at the moment.  The technicians are simply running a repair on any workstation that has the issue and it resolves it.  I have asked them to let me know of any new issues so that I can grab a log.

    Missing MSVCR80.dll file.
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
I tried to download iTunes again from the website and repair the problem, to no avail.  I've tried several times, but cannot get it to open. I have a Windows 7 machine.  My iPhone 5 and iPad work fine and have not asked me to update. I've never had a problem with iTunes before.  I hate to delete it entirely from my computer and start over.  I'm afraid I'll lose all the music I have downloaded there. What do I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • CS2 won't boot_error 'missing tlpsplib10e.dll'

I have CS2 and have been using it for about 5 years on and old XP windows machean. I got a new computer that runs Win7 professional (64bit)  about 2 weeks ago,  and installed CS2 on it.  Everything worked fine until yesterday, when I went to boot up CS2 and it would not boot and gave me a message that it could not boot,  because it was missing 'tlpsplib10e.dll'.  I have searched everywhere on line,  includeing the adobe site,  and can not find any information about this missing .dll file (or a download so I can replace it).
I ran the repair using my PS disk,  and also finally did a full un-install and then re-installed CS2... still getting the same message. *Pout*

  • After upgrading iTunes, I get the error, missing msvcr80.dll, How do I resolve this issue?

I am using Vista 32 bit on an older dell laptop and have been using iTunes for a long time, downloading songs, syncing with my iPhone, and etc, with no problems.  After upgrading to the newest version of iTunes 11, I received an error message of "missing MSVCR80.dll, please reinstall the software" when trying to start the iTunes application.  I removed the iTunes software and associated apps from my laptop and reinstalled the iTunes software.  While the software was installing it indicated that I did not have permission to install the application.  Although I started the installation with the option of "Run as Admistrator".  Since I could not reinstall the iTunes software, I choose a restore point where my iTunes was working before, and changed to that point.  I am still getting "MSVCR80.dll missing".  Does anyone know how I can restore the missing MSVCR80.dll?  I have found articles on the web of how to do this, but none seem to work.
    Thanks

  • Itunes cannot open, missing msvcr80.dll, Help??

went to go download the new itunes today and even during the download it gives me a hard time in regards to "Apple Mobile Device" but even if it goes through it givves me a error saying missing MSVCR80.DLL
CDoes anyone know a solution or has apple released anything to help?

    Good morning,
I had a couple questions about your iTunes install problem.
    1. What version of Windows are you running?
    2. What version of iTunes did you upgrade from? i.e. what was the previous version of iTunes before you tried to install iTunes 11.1.4?
    3. What are your UAC settings? (Windows control panels -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control Settings. It should be a slider with 4 settings.)
(If you haven't noticed the other threads on this topic, other users are saying go to the Programs and Features control panel and uninstall all the Apple pieces -- iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support -- and then run the installer again. This will not affect your library or your playlists or your music. But I'd like to understand the root cause of this.)

  • Python 2.5 / missing msvcp71.dll issue on Windows

During a new DBXML installation I got stuck for a while installing the Python 2.5 bindings for DB XML 2.4.16 -- I kept getting a DLL import error when importing the dbxml module in the Python code. After a bit of troubleshooting I found that I was missing msvcp71.dll on the new Windows Server 2003 SP2 installation. Copying it over from the \windows\system32 folder of another of our servers (one that's currently running the same OS/Python/DB XML setup) to the system folder of the new server seems to have solved the problem.
I haven't been able to find useful info on msvcp71.dll and this issue generally. I noticed that the new Windows server does have a msvcr71.dll in the system folder but I don't know if they're related. I'm just going with what worked for me. But I have two questions/suggestions:
    1. If there is a better approach than what I've done, please post it.
    2. The install.txt file in C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\python doesn't mention the msvcp71.dll dependency -- if others might encounter the problem I did, how about mentioning it there to save them some trouble?
    Tim

    Tim,
msvcp71.dll is the runtime for the STL (standard template library) and is obviously required. Assuming you have installed the Windows Binaries, that file is supposed to be included in that distribution. What msvc* files can you see in the C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\bin directory (this is where it should be)?
What you have done is safe but should not have been necessary if your PATH is correct and the library is installed.
    Regards,
    George
