Missing address and google search space

Hi, all -
Well, I must have hit a strange key combo. I have lost the address and google search "buttons" on the safari address bar. Safari works, I just can't navigate to non-bookmarked areas.
What's the simplest solution? I tried downloading a new safari, and it says I don't have the right OS, but my OS is newer than what is required. I found "com.apple.safari.plist" and got it on my desktop, but couldn't make anything happen, and now I don't know where to go to put it back where it belongs.
Thanks for your patience.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Choose: Safari>View>Customize Address Bar...>Drag your favorite item into the toolbar...(Address and Search) to regain the use of these two items.

  • Address bar google search does not open in the current tab

When I do a address bar google search, the search window does not open in my current tab (which is usually a newly blank tab window), instead it opens in a previously opened tab window (or sometimes even a new tab), but never does the search appear in the current tab. When it does this, it ofteb replaces a web page which I can no longer view it without going backwards.
The only fix I have found is to open a new tab and go to Google's web page and search from there. But, this takes extra time and I have to remember to do this. Otherwise, I might lose web pages I wish to view.
This never used to happen until recently. I have a Mac using Lion for the past year.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Anna

I appreciate your input, but I don't want the google web page to open in a new window.
Instead, I want to search using the address bar in using google to open the search in the tabbed webpage I am viewing, rather than open another tabbed webpage. When it opens in a different tab from the one I am in, it either creates a brand new tab, or more problematically, opens the search in an tabbed window which has an existing webpage I still want to access for viewing.
This is a Firefox issue. Address bar searching works as it should in Safari.

  • I just installed ios8 on my ipad3 and now I can't exit out of the last search using Safari and Google search

I Installed ios8 then iOS 8.02 on iPad 3. Now when I use Safari and Google search I can't exit out of the last site visited. It seems that all the sites are saved. Help. When I go to use Safari the next time the last site visited is always there. I want to be able exit those sites every time exit from Safari

Safari works a little differently in that respect on iOS 8 on the iPad than it did before. To exit the last site used, tap the icon that looks like 2 overlapping pages at the top right of the screen and then tap the x at the top left of the smaller display that appears.

  • Iweb 08 AND google search???

Hey, I hope someone can help me. 1st off, I don't know much about page design and all that stuff. I know a little, but please simple terms.
I'm thinking of making a page in Iweb, however, I want my page to be indexed and search easy if someone should try to find my site on google. I have heard 2 stories.
    1) if you make your website in iweb, don't expect to get much trafic as google probably wont find it or pick it up. SO for small business, iweb is NOT the way to go
    2) Google will find your site if you add google maps and google products to your site.
I just want the world to know my site!!! But if google can't pick it up..or is unlikely to pick it up...then what's the point? Can someone please help??

With iWeb '08 you have the option to publish to a local folder to add tags and upload to MobileMe by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites.
By doing this, you do lose some of the functions of iWeb as you will see in the Help files.
There's a lot of good reasons why you shouldn't rely on MobileMe for a business site but, if you have to use it, you can still get search engine attention.
You need to follow the steps in the section of iWeb for Musicians that I mentioned above and use your MobileMe URL to allow Google etc to get to your sitemap.
Its also more or less essential to build your own navigation menu rather than use the default iWeb one.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/Navigation.html
.... and follow the guidelines to get your site to load on a PC running Internet Explorer .....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebandInternetExplorer.html
... if you want most of the rest of the world to be able to see your website.

  • Spry Accordion panels and Google search

Hello! I have about 30 pages with at least 15 spry accordion
panels on each. I've just implemented a local customized google
search and it looks like Google is able to pull pretty accurate
search on both the panels and panels content.
Once presented with the search results, can a user get to an
OPEN accordion panel, that relates to his search? I hope I've
    explained it clearly, THanks!

Yes, this happens because all of the content is on the page.

I've seen some scripts that highlight Google search terms, so
I suppose that getting the search terms on the destination page is
possible, but making that leap to the proper panel to open may be a
    little more difficult.
First you have to figure out which panel the words are
in,then you have to figure out what if the user is searching for
three terms and each of those terms is in a different panel, or if
only one term, and that term is in multiple panels? How would you
    expect that work out?
You can highlight the words using code such as that discussed
    on this page:
    http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser/searchhi/
I'd guess that someone could reverse that code that finds the
text and then take that find and then walk up the DOM tree to see
if you are within an accordion panel and then show that panel as
the default panel on the page.

  • Flickr pages and Google search result pages are smaller

When I go to a Flickr page or a Google search result page, the entire page is smaller. Content is the same, but the fonts and images are smaller.

To start with, try pressing holding down Ctrl and then pressing 0 ( Zero). That will reset your zoom if you have zoomed out.

  • Safari and google search

    Hi Guys
I have strange problem with searching google with Safari.
Try to search any thing you want, I will call it "Search string 1" and feel free to click on any link then go back to the your google search page either by pressing back button or the gesture. Now try to do the same thing with another search criteria which I call it "Search String 2".
    NOW here is the problem:
When you click on any result for "Search string 2" and go back to your google search page, you will see the  "Search string 1" in the google search textbox BUT the results are for "Search string 2".
    Very wired.
    any idea??
    Thank you

That's nice my post helps resolving your problem.
How is... actually I don't know exactly.
But we (I mean Japanese) always have got problem with functions which automatically do something during typing.
We always need change word from how I type to how I want by IME(Input Method Editor) because we have 3 different type of characters.
(see this Youtube if you have a time, maybe you could imagine what I talk about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYVKT-TWB8A)
So that kind of functions are really difficult to apply for Japanese services.
And I have experience trying early beta of Google Instant Search, and remember that behavior was awful for Japanese. (now much better)
Then I've got this problem, that idea suddenly crossed me which the cause of problem might be Google Instant Search, JavaScript for the search might be cause something bad for BACK operation.
    Just like that.

  • Firefox 4 and Google search

When i upgraded to FF4, the first thing i noticed was the new look to my home page. then i did a search. that's when i discovered that by upgrading, FF changed some of my default settings. the default search engine is now yahoo! Geez! if i had to reset my default settings just to update/upgrade for all the software that i have on my computer, i would... after reading some other's thoughts, i'd have to say that mozilla firefox released version 4 just a little too soon.

Cheers - other 3.6.13 downloads I've tried all come up as 'file corrupted'.
Would stil like to know why the problem with Google search not completing and if I can resolve this on version 4.0...

  • (Mavericks) Safari 7.1.5 history and google search

If I click on a link on a google search result page, then the google search is not in history anymore.
    It is annoying.

Click "History" in the Safari menu bar and then "Search Results SnapBack".

  • Earthlink and Google search bar

    Greetings,
I love Firefox! When I log into my personal start page at Earthlink, and then scroll down the page, the Google search box is locked at the top of the page and if I try to use the arrow keys to scroll down, the Google search box responds by displaying the past Google searches and then scrolling down the list.
Is there some way to disable this behavior?
    Thanks for your help!

Does your Earthlink page show any options to change that?
There's no built-in feature of Firefox to prevent scripts from locking the position of an element to the top of the window, or moving the cursor where it likes. You probably would need an add-on to "hack" the page and either block the script from loading, or defeat/undo what it does. (Not impossible, but would take some hands on tinkering to accomplish.)

  • What happened to my google search space?

My Google search has suddenly disappeared.  What happened to it and how do I get it back?

Click on the view menu at the top of the screen (between history and edit)
    View>Customize Toolbar>
Then drag google to where you want it.
    I hope this helped!!

  • Firefox on Shaw Cable Internet cannot connect to google services such as gmail and google search.

Called two associates and tried on two different Shaw connections at two different locations. No one can connect to Google searches on Shaw Cable internet in the Surrey, BC area using Firefox. It works with internet explorer and chrome.
Is Google doing this on purpose to get more chrome users?
    Receiving following error:
    Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to www.google.ca. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

Hi GaryGS, that change limits Firefox to using the SSLv3 protocol, when normally Firefox would upgrade to TLSv1 if the site supports it. I recommend trying to switch it back tomorrow or the next day for stronger secure connections once Shaw's issue is resolved.

  • How do I get address bar to go directly to the site addressed and not search

I use the address bar to go directly to sites. Yahoo interprets my input as a search request and delivers the same mess of options that a search bar would provide. I want the address bar to only connect to the site for which I type in the address. If the address I type in cannot be found, all I want is a notification of that fact.

Let's start by turning off address bar search.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''keyw''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''keyword.enabled''' preference to switch it from true to false.
Then test again with a nonsense URL. Do you get the expected error?
If instead you get search results for that or for any one word (space-less) search, then those results are a feature provided by your DNS service provider, which often is your ISP. Check the results page for any way they might offer to discontinue the service and just get plain error messages.
