Missing album art on player...still there in itunes

After synching my ipod nano last night, some of the artwork that was there is now completely blank (just a black square...not even the musical note default). However, the art is still displayed on my PC on itunes. Anyone ever seen this? I will try to re-synch but was just curious if this was a known issue. Seems to be with both downloaded as well as manually added artwork...no rhyme or reason to it.

I've seen that. Usually it goes away if I reset the iPod. Your know, the thing with holding down the center button. Try that, first.
Sometimes, the iPod's Artwork cache does get corrupted when making frequent changes. In the iPod's Music preferences tab in iTunes, remove the check beside "Display album artwork on your iPod" and select Apply.
Once the iPod has finished syncing, recheck it and hit Apply again. iTunes should recreate the artwork cache and re-sync it to your iPod.

  • Grayed out, unplayable songs and missing album art on iPhone after 5.1 update with iTunes 10.6

I have been having these problems on my iPhone since the above updates. First, the grayed out songs:  I have my iTunes account set to sync over the air with wifi. I charge my iPhone overnight, but sometimes when I unplug the iPhone in the morning, a great majority of the songs get grayed out and unplayable.  I can see the songs listed, but they don't play. I then have to sync the iPhone on my iMac in iTunes to enable all the grayed out songs to be re-copied to the iPhone.  As if that isn't inconvenient enough, I now am encountering missing album art for every song on my iPhone.  All the album art exists in my iTunes account on my iMac, but I can't get the album art to appear on my iPhone. This literally happened overnight one day ago and I can't figure out how to get the album art back.  I do have sufficient storage space on my iPhone, so that possible explanation is eliminated.
Re: the grayed out songs: what is causing this and is there any way to avoid it?
Re: the missing album art: again, what is causing it and how can I restore the art to my iPhone?

Unfortunately, the only solution to this problem was to restore my iPhone.  Many hours later, the problem was resolved, but for how long?

  • Missing Album Art

I recently posted a video podcast for my high school class, but the album art is not showing on my itunes homepage. All I get is the default Apple Podcast logo. Here is what I currently see: On Air Podcast
I created a 200x200 .tif and added the following tag to my xml page:
    <itunes:image href="http://www.kwalitylearning.com/onair_logo.tif"/>
Is there a minimum size requirment for the image? Does it take longer for the image to appear at itunes? I appreciate anyone's input.

    600 MHz PowerPC G3 iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   512 MB RAM

    Hi Jim,
Two issues with your album art - Size and Format. See below from the Apple Spec.
    Rob @ podCast411
    <itunes:image>
This tag specifies the artwork for your podcast. Put the url to the image in the href attribute. iTunes prefers square .jpg images that are at least 300 x 300 pixels, which is different than what is specified for the standard RSS image tag.
iTunes supports images in JPEG and PNG formats. The url must end in “.jpg" or “.png". If the itunes:image tag is not present, iTunes will use the contents of the RSS image tag.

  • ITunes 7: Getting missing album art takes several passes...

Not sure why this would be, but I'm finding that capturing all my missing album art is taking several attempts. Each time I run "Get Album Art" it picks up a few more albums.
This is more of an observation than a complaint.

Has anyone had the problem where iTunes displays the new full resolution album artwork, but iPod doesn't even after upload?

  • Missing album art work in cover flow mode

why would i have a missing album in cover flow mode on my ipod classic, but be able to see the same album in itune on my computer. it does shows up under artist catagory, just not cover flow. i have deleted the art work and re copied it, re synced and restarted and still no album cover. also, not marked as a compliaction either. thoughts?
    thx

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts13.php for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant jpeg images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.

  • After Publishing we have missing album art

    Hello,
After publishing our iTunes U Public site last night, I came into the office this morning to find that about 90% of the album art on the Provider page is missing. The album art does appear on individual Collection pages.
I do all the work on a desktop but our video people upload videos to 9:00 pm. I had taken my laptop home and published it there at night. Would this have caused an issue?
I also now see that I no longer have access to the Public Site Manager. I am still listed as the Primary Administrator but do not have full access. There is a list of people who can do edits and my name is listed there but does not have a pencil icon.
How do I get my rights back as the Public Site Manager? How do I have the album art show up?
    Regards,
    DJ

I have found that scrolling through the album list (past albums without art) triggers the progress wheel next to the wifi symbol. You can scroll quickly through the whole collection and then wait! Artwork will appear gradually...
However, repeat visits to the Music App might initially show no artwork again, but it might spontaneously appear more quickly this time. The bad news is that the whole Music App is now sluggish as ****...

  • Missing Album Art Work - Suggested Fix

    Hello!
I have recently subscribed to iTunes Match on the cloud and noticed some album artwork was not showing up on my iPad.  I read several posts from people having the same issue.  After kicking this around I found a fix that has worked every time for me and may help you as well.
Overview:  The art was on my iTunes library, but some art did not make it to the iCloud and was not showing on my iPad - "Albums" Section of iTunes while streaming.
1). Identify an album that is missing the art from your mobile device.
2). Go to that album and select the first song from iTunes (All Songs) on your computer.
3). With the song selected do a "Command i" to expose GET INFO for that particular song.  There are several tabs at teh top of this GET INFO window... the last one is ARTWORK.
4). Click on the art then drag a copy to your desktop.
5). Go back to the GET INFO and highlight the artwork once again and click DELETE ...then OK.
6). Poof, the artwork will be deleted from the GET INFO and will no longer show for that song.
7). Go back to GET INFO window. (command i) ... click ADD in the ARTWORK tab.
8). Select the art file from your desktop (or where ever you dragged / saved the original to), click OK.  I used a few personal pictures for some art and it worked too!
I did several this way and once I was done I did an UPDATE iTUNES MATCH from iTunes (found on the STORE Tab...not the store itself). I closed iTunes on my iPad and re-opened it...presto, the art work came in.
My ARTIST tab still has a few missing covers but it is coming!
    Hope this works for you!
    Cheers,
    Oldscool2

The music was matched perfect, just a few missing album covers were missing (I'm fussy that way)... after doing the little fix suggest by "Sansimeon" (notted below) they all came in perfect...I actually had my iPad on the iTunes Artist section and while I made the changes (I was doing that on my mac) the album covers poped up on the iPad, it was kind of cool!  I'm easily amused
As a follow-up note, I bought about 50 songs over the past 24 hours and all came in 100% with art... no more issues.
    Enjoy!

Got it fixed for the single songs, change the album artist to AAAA then clear the album artist and all is looking good.  worked each time

  • Missing Album Art & Migrating To New Computer

I have an iPod mini (soon to be replaced by an iPod Classic) which I have set up on my 'old' XP laptop. In preparation for this new iPod I have added all my albums (previously ripped... all 36gb of them) to iTunes on my 'new' Vista laptop. These were ripped with Musicmatch (my older music) and in Windows Media Player (my newer music) with the vast majority having album art. With the addition of album art and coverflow to the iPod I am keen to get album art for ALL my mp3s. Unfortunately iTunes fails to recognise album art that has already been attached, insisting to use it's own... this in itself would be fine apart from the fact it will not find album art for most of my albums, even the ones that have art in Windows Media Player.
I have also followed the instructions for transferring all my ratings and playlists, however nothing has appeared in my new iTunes. Since buying my new laptop, my mp3 music collection has more than doubled and as iTunes and Vista weren't originally compatable, there was some time before I could install it. Adding these files to my iTunes library was easy enough but I still can't find a way to transfer my ratings & playlists. I have chosen to keep all my music on a dedicated external drive, could it be this change that is stopping my ratings etc being added?
Please, can someone help, If I have to start my ratings from scratch I will be rating forever!!!

  • Most albums missing album art on iPod Touch after updating to iOS 7

    Hi there,
I updated my 5th-gen iPod Touch to iOS 7 yesterday.
As the activation servers were overloaded for most of the afternoon, the update failed for me and my iPod touch ended up wiped and in recovery mode.
I installed a blank iOS 7 and then restored my settings from the previous day's iCloud backup.
I then reuploaded all my music from iTunes to the iPod.
Most of the album art is missing from the iPod and it's making me very sad. All the album art is visible in iTunes, so this is rather confusing. There seems to be no consistency to it, between albums I bought on iTunes or albums I bought elsewhere and ripped to MP3 and added to my iTunes library, or albums for which I got the art directly from iTunes or by adding it myself.
I'm using a PC with Windows 8 and the latest version of iTunes, if this matters.
    Any ideas?

  • Missing album art after moving library

    Hi,
I had to move my iTunes library to my new computer. The music files were then place on the H:-drive instead of the D:-drive. I also copied the iTunes folder from my old computer over to my new compuer's My Music folder - just as it was located on my old computer.
iTunes had no problem locating the music files, but it appears that all the album art is missing. I have checked that my Album Artwork folder is copied as well.
Is there any quickfix to this, or do I have to reload all the album artwork? There were quite a few albums for which I had located the art manually (not using iTunes) so it's a shame if it's all lost
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks and regards,
    Svein-Helge Lea

    It's solved !!
It was really silly of me not to see this immediately. On my old computer I had the small album art window showing "selected item", but after moving to my new computer it showed "Now playing". And last night I wasn't playing, hence nothing showed up there.
Now evertything is okay and in place.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Missing album art in iTunes Match

Ever since I joined iTunes Match album art is missing from several albums. I have read that this is a glitch in iTunes Match, but after spending a lot of time carefully curating a very large music collection (including scanning in art work for the albums that I had purchased outside of iTunes matching the size of the art work for albums purchased in iTunes), this is frustrating enough that I will not renew my iTunes Match subscription next year if it isn't fixed. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this yet? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem selecting all the songs of an album, getting information pannel (command i) and dropping a new artwork found on Google.
Choose an artwork smaller than 1000x1000.
    Thats it.

  • Missing Album Art After Upgrade

When I upgraded to itunes 8, I lost dozens of album images which I had searched and added by hand. For at least 18 pieces of art, I will not be able to retrieve them, as they were magazine covers which the CDs were included. Those covers are no longer on line. Is the Album art stored somewhere on my computer that I can still accress it? It is entirely random (to me) what art is and is not there...I lost older stuff and newer stuff, but there is art of every vintage still there too

Delete and re-sync the affected songs.

  • Changes made on my iPad do not appear when plugged into iTunes; missing album art on iPad.

If I make changes to the music on my iPad--i.e. delete songs/albums, add ratings, add a song to a playlist--when I plug my iPad in to view the contents in iTunes, none of these changes have been saved. The deleted music reappears, the ratings do not show up, and the new songs are not in the playlist.
Additionally, when I have my iPad plugged in to my Mac, all of my album art shows in iTunes. However, if I look at the music on my iPad by albums, much of my album art is missing.
    Any suggestions?

Visionplace, i have the issue where my ipad2 changes/edits to my current playlists are NOT synced up with my itunes 11 on my computer (Windows 7).  I have icloud and Itunes Match is turned on.  My settings are to auto-sync and i have ALL my music set to be synced, not just select playlists. (Note I have not tested whether new playlists will appear because i usually just edit my existing ones).
So whenever i make playlist changes on my ipad2 (e.g., add or delete songs), i see the changes correctly on my iphone 4, and my Apple TV within 15 minutes without taking any steps, but they do NOT appear on my itunes 11 on my computer (Windows 7).  The only way i have found to get the ipad2 playlist edits onto my itunes on my computer is to sync my iphone4 up with the computer. (My ipad changes are already on the iphone 4 automatically). My computer's itunes 11 CAN see the playlist edits i have made on the iphone4 (immediately), but not the ipad.  It *****, but it works for me.
For new music purchases (from itunes store) on my ipad2, the only way i can see them on my itunes 11 on the computer is to go to the store, and download them again. Otherwise, they will not appear.
Note - in another forum when i was researching this ipad sync issue, someone had stated that the ipad/computer sync is one way. (I.e., from computer-to-ipad only). If true, that would explain why the ipad edits and new music purchases dont show up in my computer itunes. However, the iphone sync must be two ways.

  • Spent many hours syncing & restoring iPad 1 after ios5! Missing album arts

I have upgraded to ios5 but my album arts are mostly missing or scrambled now.  C'mon apple, release an update to ios5, I am so disappointed with this update that I don't want to sync music on 3 recent iPhone 4s purchase!

    WTMF?
When I got my iMac, I synced to it with no problem (This was October 2010). Did they stupidly change this now? So, firstly I can't merge my iTunes account with my old MobileMe account, now this? This is getting ridiculous. What next? YouTube decide to completely rearrange the channel layout so you can hardly make it look how you want?
This new concept of Apple is terrible and doesn't make sense. I thought everything's supposed to be in sync? Mac OS was so much better when I was using a PC. Now I think I'd rather go back to PC.
Edit: Actually, I'll go to Linux...
