Missing Album Covers

2 Questions:
1. In my library on my computer, I have all of the album cover, but 1 (I manually put in most of them). But when I sync to my Ipod, I am missing 3 album covers.
...Does anyone know why?
2. One of my songs in my library wont let me manually add an album artwork to it.
...Does anyone know why?

They are part of the song file. They don't disappear
unless you delete the song file and add it back
without the artwork.
Right click - get info and click on the Artwork tab.
Is the artwork there?
No - Still Missing - I havent deleted any of the songs and then add then back. Just woke up this morning and many were missing.

  • Missing Album covers in iPhone/iPad (iTunes 11)... anyone?

I was hoping with the update to iTunes that this problem would have been solved- i was WRONG.
It's entirely disheartening that a problem that has existed for quite some time now continues, and not just with my iPhone 4 but also with my brand new iPad mini!
I'm noticing it seems completely arbitrary as to which album cover is missing- both ripped and bought albums are missing their artwork when I transfer over...a nd some retain the cover art (and yes they exist in iTunes- I'm pretty anal about keeping my music all sorted).
I've read the dozens of fixes that either work or don't work for any given person.
How can Apple allow such a glaring bug to continue?
    Sigh...

    Hi,
I 've been having the same issue.
One thing I noticed was that it seemed to be like the missing albums were the ones purchased with a different Apple ID (mine but from a different country)... Then I realized that (as you said) it was rather arbitrary since the recently bought ones are either missing or just fine.
But most purchased with a diff ID are missing album covers.
I myself have 4 country IDs since I lived shortly in diff places.
I wish Apple was less constraining regarding this, but I guess it's got to be due to the music houses' rules and conditions...

  • Missing album covers in coverflow

Why is that the album art missing in the coverflow but they appear in the album tab and they it shows when listening to a song? It's only missing in the coverflow.

This could be a permissions problem. See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for details.
If not here are some tips for the new version...
The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

  • ITunes Album Covers Missing

I just completed the software update for iTunes 7.6.2 (9) and now all my album covers show an icon with a broken chain. When I click on album cover view iTunes crashes.

  • Missing Album Art Work - Suggested Fix

    Hello!
I have recently subscribed to iTunes Match on the cloud and noticed some album artwork was not showing up on my iPad.  I read several posts from people having the same issue.  After kicking this around I found a fix that has worked every time for me and may help you as well.
Overview:  The art was on my iTunes library, but some art did not make it to the iCloud and was not showing on my iPad - "Albums" Section of iTunes while streaming.
1). Identify an album that is missing the art from your mobile device.
2). Go to that album and select the first song from iTunes (All Songs) on your computer.
3). With the song selected do a "Command i" to expose GET INFO for that particular song.  There are several tabs at teh top of this GET INFO window... the last one is ARTWORK.
4). Click on the art then drag a copy to your desktop.
5). Go back to the GET INFO and highlight the artwork once again and click DELETE ...then OK.
6). Poof, the artwork will be deleted from the GET INFO and will no longer show for that song.
7). Go back to GET INFO window. (command i) ... click ADD in the ARTWORK tab.
8). Select the art file from your desktop (or where ever you dragged / saved the original to), click OK.  I used a few personal pictures for some art and it worked too!
I did several this way and once I was done I did an UPDATE iTUNES MATCH from iTunes (found on the STORE Tab...not the store itself). I closed iTunes on my iPad and re-opened it...presto, the art work came in.
My ARTIST tab still has a few missing covers but it is coming!
    Hope this works for you!
    Cheers,
    Oldscool2

The music was matched perfect, just a few missing album covers were missing (I'm fussy that way)... after doing the little fix suggest by "Sansimeon" (notted below) they all came in perfect...I actually had my iPad on the iTunes Artist section and while I made the changes (I was doing that on my mac) the album covers poped up on the iPad, it was kind of cool!  I'm easily amused
As a follow-up note, I bought about 50 songs over the past 24 hours and all came in 100% with art... no more issues.
    Enjoy!

Got it fixed for the single songs, change the album artist to AAAA then clear the album artist and all is looking good.  worked each time

  • 7.2 screwed Album Covers up

Well, I am used from Microcrap such software quality, but not from Apple.
After updating to 7.2 iTunes gave my library a update and did download missing album covers - that was he telling me. Now I got a interesting collection from sounds with album covers who not have anything to do with the song. Regardless if the song is storebrought or from one of my CDs, most of the covers are replaced with random stuff.
When I want fun of this kind, I would go and buy Vista. So when can we expect a fix for this update?

most people have no problem at all with the update.
it is most likely due to how you have your music folder organized.
and things like this is why it is wise to make a backup of your itunes folder on an external HDD if you can.
unfortunately you cannot blame the computer or software, they do what YOU tell them to do.

  • Album covers missing or mixed up on iPhone/iPad after 4.3.5 update. Only purchased songs affected. What can I do to solve this issue?

Album covers missing or mixed up on iPhone/iPad after 4.3.5 update. Only purchased songs affected. What can I do to solve this issue?

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Banshee is missing 2/3 of my album covers

banshee is missing 2/3 of my album covers, even though most of them are available on the websites it claims to search. Any ideas?

Well the album names certainly show up correctly in banshee. But I guess it may have retrieved this information from the itunes library somehow, rather than metadata in the mp3s. (Most of my music collection was originally ripped from my own CDs with itunes, so I don't know whether that implies that it would not contain metadata.)
So, when people rip from their own CDs, is banshee typically able to find the cover art? Or does that really only work for songs that have been purchased electronically?

  • Album Covers Missing

All my album covers show up in Itunes but when I do a backup/sync on my iphone I lose quite a few album covers...I can get them back by restoring to factory settings but the next time I do a back up it takes away the album covers again....any advice on how to get this to stop happening?

I also have album covers missing. I imported all my MP3 songs into itunes as well as downloading new songs from the iTunes shop. I have multiple albums from the same artist, eg The Deltones and some albums have missing artwork, eg Walk like a Man = OK, Tickled Pink = no artwork. Both were purchased as a CD. 3 Neil Diamond albums = no artwork.
Those albums with art work display OK.

  • Music album covers miss-match

I'm really bothered by the fact that my music album covers don't match the actual album. What can I do to fix it so they do match? Has anyone else had this problem?

    That happens for some users:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Since iOS5 update, album covers missing

A couple days ago, I upgraded to Lion and also udated my iPhone4 and iPad to iOS5.  Today, I synced the iPhone4, then made changes to app layout and applied changes.  When iTunes was running to apply the changes, I saw a message under the sync status bar that said "updating album artwork."  It appeared to be updating all of the artwork.  I went back and added a few pdfs that I wanted to sync and applied those.  I again saw the message "updating album artwork."  So, I checked the phone and about 95% of my albums don't have any artwork.
I rebooted the phone and synced again.  Same message and still almost no album covers.
I don't keep music on iPad so no other device to compare to.  All album covers are in iTunes library.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Any ideas on a fix other than a full restore?

Found a fix.  Had to uncheck Music in iTunes to remove library from phone.  Then rechecked Music to reload library.  All album covers appeared.

  • ITunes Missing Album Cover / Artwork Search feature (future update)

    Hi,
I would like to request a future iTunes search function.  I know that iTunes allows you to save a Notifications report after you "Get Album Artwork" feature for missing covers or issues where it could not find Album covers.  However, can you add a function where you can list all the tracks/albums where iTunes could not find the album cover within iTunes, almost similar to the view, Show Duplicate Items function.  It would be great to list all the songs without covers within iTunes itself, so that one can work on fixing all the tracks with issues.
    Thanks
p.s. still waiting on 2-way sync feature request, its been years now since i first requested.  For example, if you create an on the fly playlist on your iOS device that iTunes imports the playlist and merges any metadata updates, instead of creating duplicate playlists, etc.

  • Album covers won't display in Cover Flow mode.

I've just recently re-installed my Windows XP, re-installed iTunes, and re-installed all my music again from my back-up discs. My iTunes is working fine ie plays the music, searches, displays iTunes store etc. However, when I click on the Cover View icon when playing an album it states, 'iTunes unable to browse album covers on this computer'. The album covers show up in the list/album view but not in cover view. It didn't do this before. Maybe it's something simple I've missed - any ideas?

    Does this article help?

  • Cannot Browse Album Covers

Hello All, first time posting here....hope someone can help! I have upgraded two versions of Itunes for my PC, the and I still cannot browse album artwork. I can see artwork for my playlists and main library, but when I click the far right button, I guess it would be called the Cover Flow button, I get a message saying "Itunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer."
I installed Itunes for my gf last night on her pc, and that feature works great, but not on mine. Am I missing something?
    thanks,
    Kelly

Thanks for the link, most helpful article! Looks like my video card is probably not updated, so looks like I'll have to update the drivers or may get a new video card, been wanting to get one anyways. I've downloaded a driver for my card from the SIS site, now it's in a zip file and I don't know how to open it! I'm running something called WinRar (i think)

  • Lost album covers from amazon and not itunes store?

lost some of my album covers since transfer of library to new computer. how do i get it back as some music was purchased through amazon and not itunes store?

If it's a relatively small number of songs, select the song or songs (with missing album artwork) in the iTunes music library listing.  Right-click on the selected song(s) and select Get Album Artwork.
If you want iTunes to go through your entire music library, select Music under LIBRARY in the iTunes sidebar.  From the menu bar, under the Advanced menu, select Get Album Artwork.  Don't do it this way, if you have some albums where you added artwork that you selected yourself, because they may get replaced.
It does not matter if a song was purchased in the iTunes Store, ripped from CD, or purchased at Amazon (or elsewhere).  If the song can be identified as a song in the iTunes Store database, it will get the artwork for it.
Some artwork may not be available.  In that case you can add your selection.  A good way to do it, if the songs came from Amazon, is to find the song or album at Amazon.  On the web page for the song or album, click-hold-drag the image (of the album artwork) from the browser window to the iTunes window, and drop it where the album artwork normally appears.  NOTE:  You can do this for multiple songs at one time.
