Missing Aperture .Mac Galleries

I have four .Mac galleries published from Aperture 2.1 (and several more from iPhoto). They no longer appear in my projects, although if I go into preferences I can see them (and stop publishing them). I don't want to stop publishing, but want to add new photos - how can I make them reappear in Aperture?

This problem is extremely irritating. For all the 'good looks' of .mac/mobleme's web gallery, you can change the desired order of albums on the MobileMe gallery page until the cows come home, but it doesn't stick. Something that a 10 year old could do with hard coded HTML seems beyond the ability of Apple's web 2.0. This is just one of the really limiting shortcomings of .mac web galleries: No ability to display captions (version names only). No ability to display photo locations via geotagging (esp. now the iphone, and Aperture, can do such). Frequent problems when trying to update an already published gallery (trying to add in a new photo from Aperture is hit or miss for me). So far, galleries remain a great concept with poor execution. Is anyone at Apple listening?

  • .Mac Galleries with Aperture and iPhoto

I recently upgraded from iPhoto to Aperture.
I have a number of .Mac Web Galleries that I posted from iPhoto. After starting to use Aperture I have begun to post my .Mac Web Galleries from Aperture instead. It has been smooth except for one problem. All my galleries from iPhoto appear on the page in chronological order of posting from earliest to latest. The Aperture posted gallery however appeared at the beginning (earliest) and thus out of order.
Anyone know how to change the order of galleries if some are in iPhoto and some in Aperture? Any way to make sure the Aperture posted galleries appear "after" the iPhoto ones?

  • Missing aperture information

    Missing aperture information
This is only when i use my Leica M9 shooting in raw.
Strange as all information is ok/displayed for my Nikon raw pics.
I have checked 'Aperture' in EXIF checkbox.
Anybody have same problem or suggestion as to how to fix?

In the Web Album settings you will need to change the settings to upload "Optimized Image" in order to get metadata included in the images you upload to .mac.
You current settings only upload small JPEG versions of your images.
Please, note that the upload time will increase significantly when you change to "Optimized Images" since they are much larger.

  • Linking Aperture Web Galleries together

I am trying to make my first web site using Web Galleries created by Aperture. I can not figure out how to have an index page (a page one first goes to when one goes to your site) and then have links to the Aperture Web Galleries.
Can Aperture do this ? Or do I need other software that create the central index page ?
What software are Aperture users maintaining the Aperture web Galleries with ?
    Thanks very much in advance.

you will need to create your own main index if that is what you are referring to ...

  • Accessing Aperture Web Galleries through the iPhone

Is there a way of getting my aperture web galleries to show up on my iPhone? The only web galleries that show up are those I created with iPhoto.

I assume you are syncing your photos to your phone through iTunes, and you have figured out that you have to choose Aperture to sync with. But when you choose Selected Albums, you also noticed that your Web Galleries are missing from the menu. I suppose this is because Web Galleries are not Albums. You would have to create albums of those web galleries in order to selectively sync them to your phone. This doesn't require any more disk space of course so there is no worries there, it just means that now you'll have an Album, and a Gallery of the same images. That's kind of lame. Apple should allow us to sync the iPhone to Web Galleries as well as albums.

  • Dynamic Aperture web galleries

Following on from my more general post, is it possible for Aperture web galleries to be dynamic?
For example, AFAIK if you have an Aperture gallery based on a particular keyword, then every time you apply that keyword to a new photo, Aperture will add that photo into any smart gallery based on that keyword.
However, is it possible to dynamically a web gallery back to Aperture, or does the gallery have to be uploaded manually each time you make that sort of change?
    Cheers,
    Iain

Really it comes down to the main advantage of Aperture being the keywording and metadata tools, and the main advantage of a photo gallery programme being the search functionality on the website, eg the user being able to search on 'birds' to bring up a gallery of all the bird photos.< </div>
    Additional information:
In a digital asset manager like Cumulus, the photo files are not available online. The visitor uses a browser to view a catalog of the images. The catalog is always live and updates instantly as any catalog manager creates new records for newly imported assets.
When a viewer wishes to download a file, they are connected to the server as a function of the DAM catalog. They cannot actually connect directly to the server.

  • Mac 1 dotMac Mac 2 Treo 650 (via Missing Sync) Mac 1

Is anybody syncing Address Book & iCal successfully between:
Mac 1 dotMac Mac 2 Treo 650 (via Missing Sync) Mac 1
I need reliable syncing in all directions for a number of users.
    Thanks,
    b.
    PS. Apologies for x-posting

I am going to assume for a moment that you actually mean…
Mac 1 .Mac Mac 2 and
Mac 1 Treo 650 via the Missing Sync for Palm OS
If you meant instead that your Treo serves as a means of synchronizing data on both Macintosh machines, you are headed for a data disaster. A Palm device should not be used as an intermediate 'storage' device to synchronize a pair of Macintosh computers.
The weakest link is .Mac, frankly, for a number of reasons, including availability and reliability. You might want to consider using MySync instead, which was just acquired from MildMannered Industries by Mark/Space. More information about that application is available here:
    http://www.mildmanneredindustries.com/mysync
Bonus: future compatibility is virtually guaranteed between The Missing Sync for Palm OS and MySync by this acquisition.
I do precisely what I outlined above—using .Mac Sync, but with a USB-attached Treo 600—with no issues whatsoever.

  • Aperture Web Galleries, .Mac and the new iLife '08

Was anyone else as dismayed as me to see that the fantastic new Web Galleries that unify the new iPhoto with .Mac don't appear to work with Aperture.
This clearly is designed to drive us Aperture users to remain dependent on purchasing iLife, even though most of us are moving away from (or have moved completely away from) needing iPhoto. To be honest I really don't need any of the iLife suite now that I have Aperture.
But I want/need that great looking Web Gallery (notice that it shares the same name as an Aperture "feature" - which looks dreadfully boring when compared to this product).
As someone who has paid the Premium for Aperture and .Mac I really think we deserve to have at least an equally attractive product that integrates smoothly with .Mac.
Yes I know I sound bitter - and here is why - Had I bought my MacBook Pro today and not seven days ago I would probably have a copy of iLife '08 available to me free.
But alas there are no upgrade coupons anymore so I probably need to stop complaining and give Apple more cash.

I'm in the same boat - jonesing for those slick iWeb galleries but not able to get a decent workflow from Aperture through iWeb. The inability to get ANY metadata out of Aperture and into an iWeb photo page - do they really think we're going to retype 200 captions? - is very frustrating.
I was going to see how much of the iWeb gallery functionality could be cloned back into Aperture templates, but that is probably ambitious - to say the least - given the currently rudimentary state of my knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Is this indeed the case? I was wondering if iWeb 2.0 picks up any of the metadata from Aperture previews to automatically caption and title images. The example galleries look pretty slick, but I'm not going to re-type all of my captions.
    See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5541992#5541992
Currently, I design the backbone of my site in iWeb 1.1, create an image directory by pulling in photos through the media browser, and hang Aperture galleries off those photos as external links. I modified the Aperture web gallery template to give a link back to the iWeb pages.
Did you develop this technique yourself? Can you share more of the details (here or elsewhere)?

  • Aperture Publishing to New (08) .Mac Galleries?

Is there a way to publish Aperture albums to the new .Mac 08 galleries (gallery.mac.com)? The "Publish to .Mac..." functionality just puts albums in the old location and does not enable any of the new .Mac gallery features.

Interesting. So say I create a .Mac gallery in iPhoto by dragging images from my Aperture library using the Media Browser: Were do those images live on my machine. It seems that the thumbnails are all that gets added locally, and that the original files are otherwise untouched. (Copies are, of course generated and uploaded to .Mac, but these seem not to have local versions—or do they?) Moreover it seems that these new, iPhoto web gallery-specific thumbnails live in the Aperture library[!]; is that right? And what happens when I edit an image from within the web gallery in iPhoto? Does that alter the Aperture version?
In short: What's the relationship between a the photos in a Web Gallery in iPhoto and the Aperture originals from which they are generated?

  • .Mac - galleries and caption

I've searched the forum trying to figure out how I can add captions (actually I would like to use a combination of headline and caption) to photos in a web gallery but only found posts that suggest that this can only be done from iPhoto.
I've tried and I have no problems adding a caption in iPhoto but haven't been able to do this in Aperture. Is it really true that this can't be done in Aperture???

  • Aperture web galleries:How to get rid of metadata?

Purchased Aperture today, and consequently a novice. I like the web galleries
created within Aperture, but would like to have the webpages show up without
any metadata/dates/info. Where is the setting/pref for this?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

with the gallery album selected, click on the little
tag icon with the capital T in it ...
that brings up a drop down ... select none and make
sure at the bottom it says enable plate metadata ...
the opposite disable plate metadata means it is on
and you need to disable ...
    easy as pie ...
Actually I spoke too soon...I followed your directions, and the thumbnails are fine, but when opening the individual images in the browser, the **** data is there again. Must be something I am missing. Selected 'none' and 'enable metadata'. Is it a bug or is it me?

  • Help, Aperture web galleries not showing up on iWeb insert menu!

All of my iPhoto web galleries show up fine on the Insert menu (Insert > .Mac web gallery) for placement in a web page. None of the galleries created in Aperture show up. They all exist fine on the gallery page. This is very annoying
    Apple?
    -Josh

Yes, I have seen your name come up a lot in these posts. It seems it's just a total oversight on the part of Apple. I'm sure the issue lies with iWeb and not Aperture. There must be some list to look up and iWeb just fails to look in more than one place. Lets hope there is a +0.0.1 update soon.
What is the Apple "make a suggestion" URL?

Have you set Aperture to share the Previews with the iLife apps.
Aperture -> Preferences -> Previews and check the box at 'Share Previews with iLife and iWork'.

  • "Save to Adobe PDF" missing in Mac print dialog

I've just upgraded to a new machine, and the "Save to Adobe PDF" option is missing from the PDF drop-down menu in the print dialogue.  I'm running Mac OS 10.8.3 and CS 6.  I believe that Acrobat X is supposed to automatically install this option into the main print dialog; what can I do to get it installed if it got left out of the initial CS6 installaion?

OK thank you.  I feel like I'm still not quite getting my question across.  I don't think that PDF Maker is what I was using last week before I got a new machine; wasn't that the thing that showed up in the upper portion of the Print dialog, in amongst your physical printers?  That is not what I was using.  I was using the Save to Adobe PDF.app (an Automator app) that stays in the PDF Services folder in the Library.  You access it via the PDF button in the bottom left of the Print dialog.  This was using Acrobat 9 and OS 10.6.
Your description above makes it sound like when I go to that button I would get a contextual menu that lets me choose the quality of the PDF.  I don't have that choice.  This is the contextual menu I get under PDF in the Print dialog:
I used to have an additional entry there in the middle section called Save to Adobe PDF.  That brought up a dialog with a drop down menu that showed all of the preset settings I have made for PDF creation, and I could choose my quality there, choose a location, and save.  I had full control over all the settings.  I just need a choice that brings up that dialog, and Save as PDF doesn't do it (it just uses the native OS PDF generator).
The second method does not work on my machine either.  If I try to drag a Word doc into Acrobat it tells me it is not a supported file type, and says "To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."  this indicates to me that somewhere I should still have the ability to choose Adobe PDF rather than Mac OS PDF.
I can save to PostScript and drop the file onto Distiller -- as long as the Distiller settings are set correctly already, because it starts creating the PDF immediately with no dialog in between to make choices.  I can live with that, but I would rather have my Automator workflow back to do it in one step.  (sadly I don't know enough about Automator right now to easily do this myself, but maybe this is a good chance to learn.)
I know that I have seen this workflow mentioned as something that is installed along with Acrobat X but maybe people are mistaken about that and it was just left over from a previous install.  I know for sure that the workflow that was working on the old machines was outdated; it was 32-bit and can't even be opened in the current version of Automator.  So the old one clearly won't work any more.  For now I'm going to set up a Distill folder on my desktop with the settings I use most often, and direct my PS files there.
Thanks for the detailed reply even though I can't quite make it all work!
