Missing App category under Library section

So I had upgraded to the newest iTunes a week ago or so but havent restarted my computer in a while which I did today. So when I opened iTunes it said welcome this is your first time using itunes etc.. My library was all there and its the usual welcome screen. I noticed right away that under the Library section the App category was missing? I plugged my ipod touch in and all my apps were still there in the app section there (you know where you check mark the ones you want). I synced to make sure and possibly hope the section would come up but it hasn't. I don't know whats up has this section been taken down in the update or is this some kind of glitch. Should I try to install the new itunes again? Thanks for the help

You're welcome, and thanks for the points.
Oh, I absolutely DO believe you. A lot of software seems to be like that - enabling/disabling options gets them working properly, so good guess on that!

It's now called Tones. Go to iTunes menu EDIT/PRFERENCES under GENERAL tab, check the Tones Box under Library source to display Tones library in iTunes.

  • "Missing Photos" in Library section of Library

    Hi,
    Mac OS X 10.5.2, Lightroom 1.3.1.
Somehow, I have an entry in the Library section of Library (this is not in the Folders section) which says I have about 6,000 missing photos. I'm trying to understand what this means. The photos are there, and I can right click on them and see the photos in the Finder.
What do these 6,000 "missing files" refer to? Are they missing from the catalog? I was recently tinkering with the "Synchronize Photos" function as it looks like I have some cruft in the library where I tried to delete rejected photos, but only deleted them from the library and not from disk (I'd love to be able to easily doing this now... but I can't find how to do that either).
Note these are NOT files that were moved outside Lightroom. These are not red folders... the files are there but Lightroom is calling them "Missing" for whatever reason. I can't see any reference to it in the documentation... but I haven't purchased a LR book so don't know where a good document for this is.

Have a look at these two threads:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c06476f/0
    and
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05eed5/0
It looks like this is a database problem/bug; the files are not really missing but Lightroom thinks that they are! If all the files reported as missing, still exist then you can correct the problem by removing them from the catalog. (If you try to re-import them (or a few of them), and check "Don't re-import suspected duplicates" on the Import Photos screen, Lightroom should not import any files; instead it should give you message saying that they already exist in the catalog.)

  • In my itunes library I have apps for the ipod.  All of the apps were together, and now I have two different sections to my apps. The first one says 44 apps and the second section says 143 apps.  When I connect my ipod only the first section goes on

can anyone help me with my apps on my itunes.  They have separated for some reason.  I have one section of 44 apps and the other has 121 apps. Only the top section will sinc with my ipod because at the side where it says apps, it is only showing the 44 apps and not the section at the bottom

Can you take a screen shot of the iTunes screen and post it? I do not really understand what you  mean by different sections.
What model iPod and iOS do you have? Maybe the section that does not sync are not compatible with the iPod.
Were all the apps purchased with one account?
Do you have any Restrictions one that would prevent syncing? Settings>General>Restrictions.

  • What is the library section in the bookmarks toolbar used for now. I used to be able to organize my bookmarks here now the left pane in library under organize bookmarks is always empty.

Used to be able to organize bookmarks in the library section (left pane) but since upgrade this pane is always empty even if i try to add a folder or bookmark. Is there another way to organize without having to do this in the library section.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Missing actions under Library

I wanted to create an Automator workflow and when I opened it and chose Custom Workflow, I saw a blank window where I could drag actions. But on the left, under Library there was nothing. When I click on Most Relevant, I could see actions, but not under Library.
Any idea how I can get all actions to show with categories (I have seen that view before, just don't know how it got lost)? FWIW, I used to have Tiger and I upgraded to Leopard.

  • Missing apps in purchased section of app store

All of my apps in the purchased section on the App Store are gone ? where have they gone ? is there a way to get them back? My apps were there yesterday.

I just tried to reset and that didn't work.  I did notice that when I check my iPhone the apps are showing in the purchased section of the app store, but still not on my iPad.  I looked in settings and it appears to be set to the Canadian store.
I don't know what else to look for.
Will the local mac store be able to assist do you think?

  • Missing Apps after System restore

Yesterday I did a System Restore on my iPhone 3Gs and now all of my Apps are missing. After this I tried to do a Restore from backup again but I still have the same problem.
I don't have Sync Apps ticked in iTunes as if I do it will sync all apps and there is a mix of iPad and iPhone apps there. For some Apps there are separate iPad and iPhone versions and I'm not sure if this will cause any problems.
Is there a way to have the apps restored to the same folders they were in before? I know I can sync selected apps from iTunes but I spent a lot of time organising all of my apps into folders and I'm hoping to avoid having to do that again. When I tick "Sync Apps" but before actually going ahead iTunes shows 10 screens of Apps and none are in folders as they were before.
I thought that doing a restore from a backup that I did just before the restore would have restored the phone exactly as I had it before.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

No iTunes content including 3rd party apps are included with your iPhone's backup. If you don't have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes along with the apps selected below that you want available on your iPhone - which can be placed in folders with iTunes followed by a sync, iTunes does not know which apps you had installed on your iPhone. With Sync Apps selected along with the apps in your chosen folders, when restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, your iPhone will be restored in this regard. After restoring as a new iPhone or from the backup, this must be followed by a sync to re-transfer your selected iTunes content including 3rd party apps to your iPhone. What is selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences will be pre-selected prior to the initial sync with iTunes after the restore, and the apps will be transferred back to the same folders as before. Your mistake in this process was not having Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab. With this selected, after downloading an app direct with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
If there is an iPad only app that you select to be transferred to your iPhone, a warning message will be provided with the following sync indicating the app cannot be installed on your iPhone. You can create your app folders with iTunes followed by a sync.

  • I have just downloaded itunes 10.6 and  in the process my "podcast" option under library has disappeared! The files are still on my laptop. I can also see some of my recorded music in my itunes library but can play them - there is an exclamation mark next

I have just downloaded itunes 10.6 and in the process my "podcast" option under library has disappeared! THe files are still on my laptop. I can also see some of my recorded music in the itunes library but can't play them - there is an exclamation mark next to each track. Basically I can't use itunes - is the only option remove and replace? Thanks in advance

Visibility of the Podcasts section is controlled from within the Edit > Preferences dialog.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    Missing tracks
Typically this can happen because a file or folder is accidentally shunted to the wrong location. iTunes can also get confused if it expects to be talking to an external drive which isn't there. If will often reset the default media folder location and may have trouble finding files in the old folders.
Select one of your tracks that is missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Cancel when asked to try to locate the file, then look at the location given on the summary tab. This where iTunes thinks the file ought to be? Now find out where it actually is. Post back the two locations for comparison. I should be able to give you some steps to reconnect everything once I can determine which of the things that might have gone wrong is most likely in your case.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Downloading music from iTunes library section to my iPhone?

Hi. I've uploaded some of my CDs to iTunes thinking I could then download them to my iPhone to listen to but when I connect my iPhone to iTunes i cannot find the library section anywhere. Can anyone give me advice on this?

You've got those songs in the music part of your computer's iTunes ? Unless you've subscribed to iTunes Match then you will need sync that music to your phone, you won't be able to download it directly on your phone.
You can sync your music to your phone by connecting the phone to your computer and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) - the phone should show under 'devices' on that sidebar.
Then on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen there should be a series of tabs, one of which is Music :
Select that tab and you can then select which of your computer's iTunes music library to sync to your phone's Music app.

  • I was trying to sync my iPod when all of a sudden I have 6.9 GB of info under the section "other"

I was trying to sync my iPod when all of a sudden I have 6.9 GB of information under the section "other" and I don't know where it came from and because of it I can no longer sync my iPod because there is too much info to fit. How do I get rid of this random information which I can't find any cause for on my iTunes library? Most of my content is audio at 7GB, my video is at .14GB, and I'm up to date in my software, and I have searched my iTunes for this 6.9GB of information and can find nothing that is in there that shouldn't be in there, so where did it come from? Where did it go? And how do I get rid of it? I have a Mac OS X Version10.6.8

"Other" represents data that iTunes can't recognize.  A few hundred mb of other is normal.  The 6.9 gb you have represents corrupted data (maybe from an interrupted sync or some other glitch).
Sometimes, syncing one more song can clear up the extra other.  If not, you'll need to restore your iPod.  Here are the instructions:  Restore:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You can restore from your iPod backup when asked.

  • Photoshop CS6 on OS X 10.8.5 requires publicly writable directories under /Library

In order for Photoshop CS6 under OS X 10.8.5 to run under a standard user, certain direcories under /Library/Application Support/Adobe must be made publically writable.
The following sub-direcrories are publically writbale under /Library/Application Support/Adobe:

Removing the public write permission on the above directories will cause Photoshop CS6 to fail to start.
Please fix Photoshop so that it does NOT need publically writable directories in the /Library tree.

Since the error points to a missing Java element, it might be a case of the old associations between the CS installation and the new java installation are no longer applicable and need to be updated.  You should trial uninstalling and reinstalling the CS6 programs.  You should also read up on the following help document to see if it will prove useful...

  • Found 5.04 update under library/receipts but have fcp 6.04

I was looking into uninstalling FCP 6.04 and reinstalling it to hopefully clean up some kinks and I found "fcp 5.04 update" under library/receipts. Should I trash this? I use to have FCP 5 and have a project currently on my desktop that originated as FCP 5 and am having problems with it in FCP 6- the Motion sequences have been altered for some strange reason. I have NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT graphics card-
original to this MacPro. I read that "Final Cut Studio is not compatible w/ integrated Intel graphics processors". Does this affect me? Do I need a new graphics card?
    Thanks for your guidance.

it's just a receipt and its harmless to your current install
if you are going to do the uninstall / reinstall thing you could do worse than check out Jon Chappel's FCS Remover app .... it may save you a world of pain
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm
.. and No, your MacPro doesn't have an integrated graphic chipset so that warning shouldn't concern you
