Missing Applications Tab

When I log on to iTunes, I am missing the tab for APPLICATIONS. I only have the following tabs: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos, Info. How do I add the APPLICATIONS tab so I can then transfer the games I've purchased in my library to my ipod touch?

One thing that might help out.
Along with neuroanatomist's post asking sure that you are running os 2.0.
Are you running windows 2000 as it shows in your profile at the bottom of your post?
If so, the minimum system requirements for ipod touch and iphone are win xp sp2 or vista.
Hope this helps.

Never mind, I found the Shared Components option.

  • Why is the Application Tab so different from the rest of iTune?

It feels like the Applications tab is not from Apple. Is it done by a outsourcing company in China? There is no consistency between this tab with the rest of iTune. Is there a design theme across all parts of iTune? Why there is no list view for the Apps?
One thing I miss much is the ability to check off an App so that it will not sync to my iPhone. The same way that I can decide with song go to my iPod. Since the iPhone only has 144 slot for applications, it is important to have such selection ability. The other thing I miss is the rating. I'd like to rate the applications so that if I have purchased more than one version of the same kind of app, I can choose which goes to my iPhone based on my own rating. I also want to be able to sort the Apps by category in the list view. How about folders that each corresponds to one page on the iPhone? The way to reorganize the Apps icons is just a pain after you have more than a few pages.

    Hi LaiPod
These are good suggestions, I suggest sending feedback to apple via: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Missing Applications yab on my iPhone

I tried to help a friend install apps on her iPhone. We selected a few apps (some free, some not) from the iTunes store and synced. Afterwards, we observed that no new apps were on the phone. I looked at iTunes, thinking some setting wasn't right, and realized that there was no Applications tab next to Videos in iTunes. I've never seen iTunes without an Applications. The only thing I can think of that is different between our computers is she uses an iTunes credit card to pay for apps and I don't. Her credit balance decreased for the non-free apps we selected, but they did not download either. And we got no errors on the sync.
Does anyone know why iTunes would be missing the Applications tab for an iPhone?
    DJ

I would guess they're in there somewhere. Folders?

The User Guide is available at http://support.apple.com/manuals/ or downloadable from iTunes as an iBook.

  • Applications tab on left disappeared

On the left side of the finder the "applications" option is missing. I have "desktop, documents, movies, music, and pictures" but I can not seem to get "applications" to reappear.
Can someone please tell what I'm sure is the super simple step to bring my applications tab back?!
    thank you...

Can't get much simpler than "drag the folder (any folder) there".

    Suhas,
After you registered your application as a SSO partner application did you use the information from Oracle SSO (home URL, success URL, Logout URL, app_name etc) and loaded it into the APEX_SSO schema using the regapp.sql script from the ssosdk?

  • Applications tab doesn't work - apps won't sync

I'm starting to go a bit bonkers. It's been a while since I updated iTunes, and the Applications tab still doesn't work right. Is it just me? I can't click on anything/manipulate anything in that part of iTunes. And when I download new apps through the app store and tell my iPhone to sync, it doesn't sync the apps, even though "Sync Applications" under the Applications tab is checked.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've restored my iPhone. I've done both things a few times and you know what? Sometimes that makes it work. But if so, it only works one time. I can use the Applications window to check which apps I want synced and move things around onto different screens. But then if I click on another tab/navigate away from that window, it stops working. And I have to restore my iPhone again just to sync my apps.
Any suggestions? Help? Is it just me that's having this problem? Thanks...
    iTunes version: 9.0.2 (25)
    iPhone software version: 3.1.2

Wouldn't I lose all my paid apps if I go under a different account?
Still not working... only when I restore my iPhone to factory settings and reupload everything do I get my new and updated apps and have a working Applications tab. Then, if I quit iTunes and open it again later, I can't manipulate/change anything under the Applications tab, and my apps won't sync with the rest of the stuff on my iPhone. So maybe the solution is to leave iTunes open and my computer on FOREVER.
I'm seriously getting ticked that this isn't working right. Anyone else have this problem? Or just scuttlebutt and me?

  • ITunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs

    Can somebody help me?
    I have:
    + iPod Touch 4th Generation 32GB
    + Wi-fi connection
    + iOS5 installed
iTunes on my iPod Touch is missing some tabs. The only tabs that's showing on my iTunes are Podcast, iTunes U, Search and Downloads
Also, whenever I try to load un Podcast tab, it ALWAYS say Your request could not be completed.
    Thank you very much!

Where exactly are the tabs that are showing, are they a list at the bottom of the page and next to it is the "More" option, or are you referring to the options on the More tab? You can move these options between the bottom of the page and the More section.
Is that the problem, or is there something else missing? (Perhaps it would have helped if you had mentioned what is missing). If it's the Apps section you are looking for, it has its own App button on the Home screen.
As for the problem with downloading Podcasts, I would try getting them in iTunes on your computer if you cannot download them via the Touch's Wi-Fi.

  • .bin extension defaults to wrong action and is not listed in options applications tab. I can't change the action.

I recently installed VLC player and it has overtaken my system.
When I click on .bin (ext) files in a Firefox browser window, the default action is now listed as "VLC.bin (default)" and nothing I do can change it. I want the default action to be to download the file and I would like to remove any option related to VLC, since no .bin file should ever be associated with that program.
There is no listing for a .bin extension for VLC (or any other program, for that matter*) in the Options/Applications tab, nor is VLC player the default action for anything listed except .wav files.
    I have tried the following:
    1. searched the options/applications tab but found nothing.
    2. searched "about:config" for any entries with "bin", ".bin", or "vlc" (one at a time) and found nothing.
    3. searched the registry for bin extension entries. I found one:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.bin\OpenWithProgids]
    "bin_auto_file"=hex(0):
    "VLC.bin"=hex(0):
I deleted the key and rebooted. No change.
    4. Double checked [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\.. Gabest and Mozilla keys for anything that could be causing this behavior.
    Found nothing.
    Any help would be appreciated.
*As far as I can tell. However, the applications tab cuts off many of the extension names and the column cannot be extended, so I can't be certain. VLC added 34 extensions to the list (!), most of which default to using the Quicktime plugin 7.6.8.

Thanks jscher2000, I tried your suggestion, but no joy (as expected). None of the extensions were .bin, and in fact, I can't find a single listing for handling the .bin extension in the entire (unfiltered) list.
That's why I'm so confused. Where is Firefox getting the name "VLC.bin (default)" from in the first place?
cor-el, I checked out the link that you posted.
I don't have an entry for "browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes" and the entry "plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types" was empty (default setting).
My bad, but I forgot to mention in my first post that I had also tried renaming the mimetypes.rdf file in my "Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default\" to .old to no avail.
Firefox created a new, almost empty file, but it didn't change the behavior for .bin files. I removed the new file and put the old file back in place after determining that clearing the file did not help, since I am otherwise happy with my current file-type options.
However, since the option to "Always perform this action" is grayed-out, I am looking into the possibility that the website is sending a misconfigured MIME type or is assigning "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the download. What's odd, though, is that I've never had problems getting binary files from the site in the past, and the problem started when the VLC player was installed.
I'll post back after I check into the server header data.

  • Firefox 4 hangs when attempting to view the Applications tab in Preferences

Firefox 4 under MacOS X 10.6.6 hangs when I click to select the "Applications" tab on the Preferences dialog. It never paints the pane. When this happens, it consumes 60% CPU. Running dtruss against the running process shows a little activity, but not much.
I have tried deleting mimeTypes.rdf. It recreated a new, smaller one, but it made no difference to the problem. I have let Firefox continue to run for up to 10 minutes, with no change in responsiveness. I am forced to kill it every time. It is 100% reproducible on my system.

I just discovered that if I disable the Quicktime plugin (7.6.6), this problem goes away.

  • Firefox tries to open a certain filetype (.spk) as text and never adds an entry to the Applications tab in Options, so I have no way to change this behavior.

Since it's not in the Applications tab, I can't change how Firefox handles it. And since it automatically opens it as a text file, I have no way to download this filetype when it's linked to with javascript or flash because I can't right-click and "Save Link As."
How can I make Firefox ask me how to handle the file instead of treating it as text?
I've already tried deleting "mimeTypes.rdf" from my Firefox profile.

Then how do I manually tell Firefox to save text files instead of automatically displaying them?
There's no "text/plain" type for me to edit listed on the Applications tab.
Screenshot attached showing the page info for one of the spk files and the Applications tab with no "text" type listed.
There's another at [http://www.tecsg.co.uk/scs/scs407.spk here]. I don't care if the web server owner has attached the wrong MIME type to a file so long as Firefox will give me a chance to tell it how I want it to be handled. If it's not a webpage (html, php, etc.) then Firefox should not try to render it by itself without asking. --- On a side note, how do I get this forum to treat my line returns like line returns rather than spaces?

  • Why is the "Applications" tab no longer in my Finder?

Hey so i updated my MacbookPro from its original operating system to OS X Mavericks (version 10.9.1) because there was an update available. And just today i was went to uninstall a program that had expired, and i noticed that in my Finder, the "Applications" tab was gone. Usually on the top left corner of Finder there are tabs like "AirDrop", "Documents", "Downloads" etc. And applications is no longer there.
I need to uninstall a program, and i dont know how to without going to finder, then to applications.
If anyone knows why its gone, and how else you can delete programs on a macbook please comment!
    Thank You!

Open up the Finder. Click Finder next to the Apple logo and click on Preferences. Go into the Sidebar tab and make sure Applications is ticked. If it is try unticking and reticking it.

  • Applications tab does not work in iTunes 9

I have upgraded to iTunes 9 and 3.1 firmware on my 3GS. When I connect the phone to the computer and access it in iTunes, I cannot use the applications tab.
I see all my applications in the list on the left, but some are unchecked. I can see all my screens load up on the right side of the screen, but I cannot do anything with them. Everything on this page seems "greyed-out", especially the right-hand side. Nothing on this page responds to the mouse except for the "Sync Applications" checkbox and the sync button on the bottom right hand of the screen.
All other tabs are functioning normally...
    Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your problem is either entirely different, or the cure starts out differently, or at least I didn't explain myself well--sorry. My Restrictions for iTunes and Installing Apps were originally set to "OFF," so those two icons could not be used on my iPhone; I assume that was why my "Applications" tab in iTunes was grayed-out. It sounds backwards, but I had to set my iPhone's Restrictions to "ON" so that those to icons were enabled.
Whatever your iPhone's restrictions are set to, try changing them to the opposite and run thru the entire process Angelo gave me, and maybe a second time again so that you end up with those two Restrictions set to ON. Good Luck!
