Missing Area Description (long text) in ESS EhP5

Our company heavily uses the ESS Area Description (long text) to communicate FAQ's, tips, and other help information on ESS. We like how this information is directly visible to users on the area pages.
We are in the process of upgrading to EhP5 and it appears this field no longer exists in the new LaunchPad. Instead, is the intention to use the portal Help Center instead? I would like to get a definitive answer before I communicate back to the business of the change.

Text Area for long text not appearing properly for BBP_POC_DISPLAY Service

In our development we have added additional Icon at ITS in Process PO transaction and onclicking that icon Web dynpro AB screen called with the Purchase Order No of selected row .(SRM 5.0)
There is one more icon in Web dynpro screen on click of that Purchase order service open in ITS with display mode .This is achieved with service BBP_POC_DISPLAY from Web Dynpro-AB.
This is also working ok only the issue is in Document tab of PO The Text Area for long text appear at Top .This functionality is working fine with BBP_POC service from ITS .
Has anybody faced this kind of issue ?

I am unsure of the additional component you are talking about. In general, issues with text area misplacing, is solved by note 1067625. May be you can check it.

Plz consult with them...

Searching for orders by Description long text

I am able to search using IW38 and IW37N by Order description short text. Is there a way for me to search the long text descriptions of PM orders?

The embedded Search functionality used in SImplicity 2 and 3 is offering to search via Long text.
With this you will find all the orders containing a certain longtext
even via traditional Matchcode you will get this
result
so when you use embedded search this functionality is available and configurable
The example shown is with order header longtext but this is possible as well with operation longtext

I need to display a very long URL in an e-mail notification but cannot get the URL to stay in one line, that is, it wraps around. Can anyone help? The extended line /= command doesn't work.

I'm not using RSWUWFML2, the notification is sent directly from the workflow, method SENDTASKDESCRIPTION.

Paragraphs in HPF Area description

Is it possible to get linebreaks into the Homepage framework Area Description (Long Text)?
It seems to ignore carriage returns entered in the IMG and HTML encodes <BR>.

That's fairly basic HTML coding...to open in a new window, add
target="_blank"
into the hyperlink. So something like
<a href="http://www.mycomp.com" target="_blank">THIS IS A LINK</a>
would do the trick! Hope this helps.

Long text problem while uploading Inspection plan through BDC.

Hi,
I am facing some problem while uploading the inspection plan. There are few MICs for which we are having long text, while uploading the inspection plan through BDC - some other long text is getting copied into the MIC's long text. After checking I came to know that in function module, read_text - some text which is stored in ABAP memory is getting copied into the inspection plan.
I am working in SAP release 4.7. I have checked with SAP notes: 97419, but it is also not satisfying.

My requirement is I want to maintain long text for few MICs (which are not having long texts at MIC level) in inspection plan (QP01).
When I am trying to manually assign the MIC's to inspection plan (QP01), long text is copied whereas I am not clicking the long text icon in (QP01). Long text is not maintained in MIC level, still some long text is copied to this MIC. This was also happening while uploading the inspection plan thro' BDC.
I believe what you have mentioned about function module SAVE_TEXT cannot be used here since long text is already copied before we pass the long text. Also if we pass some long text, still apart from the long text what we have passed there is some other long text copied (extra long text).

Vendor Long Text

Hi everybody,
                     I had a requirement where I need to print the long text for Vendor ( Transactions related to vendor ). I searched for the field. But I didn't find any field which stores the long text for vendor.
Can anybody suggest me to find the field?
For Reference :     SKAT-TXT50    is the GL Account Long Text.
My approach :   LFA1-Name1 can be used for long text,   But this is the field which holds the Vendor Name.
Please guide me.

There are many "long texts" for vendor, perform some search on table STXH with object'LFA1'
(you should find texts like id '0001' for "accounting note", '0002' for "purchasing memo", etc.)
The lines of texts are stored in non-transparent table ([Storing Text Components|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d6/0db668494511d182b70000e829fbfe/frameset.htm]), The FM [READ_TEXT|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_40b/helpdata/pt/d6/0db8c8494511d182b70000e829fbfe/content.htm] is called to get those texts in an internal table.

G/L LONG TEXT

Hi all,
I have created 2 company codes with same chart of account . Now when I am copying a gl a/c from one company code to another and I am changing the description(long text) of second g/l account and saving the same, I can see the description of original g/l a/c also changes since this is a chart of account segment. But I want to keep a different long text for the second g/l , so my question is can I maintain that ? If so , how?
Can any body please help me?

If the two Company Codes have the same Chart of Accounts, it is not possible to have different text for the same GL in different company codes.

We are designing a report to fetch some fields from the service notification. I am not able to get 2 fileds which are 'Notification Long Text' and 'Activity Long Text'. Can anyone help us to find out how we can bring these fields into the report?

Language->EN, Text ID:- LTXT ,Text Object : QMMA , Name :- I think starting with 001Notification Number0001
But the simple way to identify all these are , open IW22 -> Open that Activity Longtext and goto menu ->Header -u will find Text Header details ..

I think you can enter short description & long text seprately for a WBS while creating entire struture of project in PS only. I don't think other than PS you will be able to enter short & long text for individual WBS.

ESS iViews HTML Long text description area page

I want to make an HTML for the long text description for an area page.... But how to make it Multi languague? I mean, I attach trhe HTML to the Area Page, and the HTML its on the KM defined by a resource. But this HTML have only one languague... Do I have to do it in Javascript and get the browser locale and transalte the text on the HTML?
could be another way?

Hi Vivek..
Go to Content admin -> KM Content -> Documents.
Upload ur HTML file here ... in any folder... Open Documents -> Public Documents
then Go to Folder-> New Upload and UPload the document.
Now to get URL of the Document..
From the context menu of the document uploaded, go to Details ->Settings -> Properties
Choose access links -> copy WebDav URL

Text table for long text of product catalog area and product description

I'm a new comer in CRM, what my current job is to do the translation for CRM system and its portal, e.g. webshop. Now I met some questions as below, Could you please give me some advices?
1. Long text for product catalog area (t-code: COMM_PCAT_ADM; Product Catalog: PCSHOP)
I found a table named STXL(STXD SAPscript text file lines), maybe, it is related to the long text(product catalog area), but I can not get anything from the field CLUSTD of the table STXL as its data type is RAW. Maybe, there is a text table in CRM to store these long text information, but I dont know, Could you please give me some ideas?
2. Long text for product description (t-code: COMM_PCAT_ADM; Product Catalog: PCSHOP)
I found a table named COMM_CFGLNGTXT(Long Texts for Different Objects), I can find some long texts(product description) in this table, but some others, I can not find them. I dont know why? Maybe it is not a correct text table. Could you please give me some advices?

Implement the BADI DOC_PERSONALIZE_BCS and use method PERSONALIZE_DOCUMENT. In this method therz an parameter FLT_VAL, this can be used to derive the description.
