Missing Art Cover on Movie App

I just post here some informations regarding missing art cover in the iPad application Movie.
As I got some troubles with some missing cover despite showing correctly on iTunes, I just wanted to post the solution I found.
I found that in my case only movies with multiple resolutions were missing (like SD/HD) on my iPad 2 despite both version had the cover.
I just switched the default version to SD instead of HD (right click on the video in iTunes -> version) . iTunes did something at that time because there was some disk access.
Then I synchronised my iPad. Boom, the missing art cover shown up. I switched all missing cover movie to SD then sync. All covers appeared.
Then I just switched back to HD without any issues. It seems that iTunes is creating some cache thumbnail on the hard drive when switching default version that is then transferred to the iPad.
I lost a lot of time on this one so if it can help people with the same troubles, here is the solution.
I opened a bug at Apple so they can fix it too.

i'm sorry - I don't understand how you changed the version of the movie - I can't find where you changed from SD-HD. I updated my wife's ipad - the movies play just fine, but the cover artwork disappeared - help!

If you weren't able to sync the purchases to a computer previously and now your iPod needs to be restored so you can't sync it now, then you may be out of luck and will need to purchase your content again. Officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

Listing tracks/albums with missing art

Is there any sensible way to list out only the songs/albums that are missing album art?
Wading through all of them manually in the "Cover Flow" view is not an option, I've got far to much music for that.
If I could pull out a "missing art" report of some sort I'd atleast have a decent starting point for scanning/downloading covers.
On a related note; Is it possible to "tag" albums you don't want iTunes to process when downloading art? A "Missing arts" view/filter would solve this, i suppose.
(Highlighting all tracks in this view and fetching the art for only those.)
Also; is it possible to exclude tracks I know there won't be any art for?

Please go the following website - http://dougscripts.com/itunes/. Doug's scripts is an invaluable resource for this. Search using managing artwork. You will find a script that will copy all songs w/o artwork to a playlist. It will search you whole library. Not sure if you can exclude some, but why bother. Once you have the songs w/o artwork identified, you can add the artwork, delete songs form the list or delete the whole list.

Random Missing artwork from iPad Movies

Hi all,
I am having some issues displaying all the artwork in the Movies app on my iPad. Certain movie artwork is there, and others isn't. It would appear that recent movies I have added to iTunes are missing their artwork, older ones are not affected. It could be after I upgraded the iPad to iOS 6.1, or iTunes to 11.01, I'm not sure which.
All movie artwork is shown in iTunes on my Mac and the artwork displays fine in the Shared tab of Movies on the iPad. It is in the downloaded movie section of Movies where the more recent artwork is missing. I have tried the following:
- Delete and re-copy the iTunes artwork into the affected movies
- Delete and re-add the movie to iTunes
- Change the default quality to 720p on an affected movie (the movie is 720p)
- Sync over WiFi
- Sync over USB
- Reboot iPad
Nothing is working. I suspect it may be a bug with either iOS 6.1 or iTunes 11.01.
Does anybody else have this behaviour? Or know how to fix it?

I've had issues with too large images in the past, so I know to avoid them. They are no bigger on the ones that don't work than the ones that do.
They are backed up, and I do use Subler to add the artwork.
I just tried one of the affected videos on my iPhone, which is running iOS 6.0.1 still, and again, it is not showing the artwork image.
I did, however, manage to get one of the affected ones (Spiderman) working on my iPad. I had removed the movie and put it back into iTunes then synced to the iPad (no artwork). Then I added a movie to the iPad from before I had the issues, and the artwork displayed on the old movie, and then suddenly the Spiderman artwork appeared too.
Really wierd...

Be sure you back your current system up BEFORE you do anything. If you use Time Machine, migration assistant works well.

I picked up a new 16gb TouchPad a few months ago and love the heck out of it. I liked it so much that I got a refurb 32gb to replace it with so I would have enough space to store a pretty decent video library plus my tunes and pics. What I would like to do is to move all my apps that I bought off the 16gb and put them on the new 32gb Touchpad and then erase the 16gb and sell it. Is there a way to move apps between TouchPads?

So assuming this works, what happens to the apps on the 16gb? Can I still use them until I wipe it for sale? Will that cause a problem with data back ups if I were to use the apps and then backup the 16gb again?

Is there any app available to directly copy movies from in built Movies app on iPhone directly to a Nas. I currently use iTunes for this with the Mac, but want to know if its possible without actually using a Mac or PC with iTunes?

The App description did not say anything that it would not do what I was trying to do. I wrote sup[port and asked if they could issue a credit. Mari at support wrote back and said he checked with his supervisor and they could not issue a credit. I told them what a good loyal customer I have been to Itunes and Apple and they still refused. Granted the App did not cost a lot of money (3.99) but it’s the principle. With customers having options to shop anywhere I would think a business would do whatever it takes to retain the loyal customers they do have Occasionally I rush to buy an App without fully understanding if it meets my needs. According to ITunes support that has occurred nine times. Here is the last reply that I received Roger, I know how frustrating it can be when things don't work the way they should be and I do apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you. I am sorry but we could not be able to grant your request as we have made 9 exceptions on you. You've already had 9 refunds? You understand that apps are sold on a non-return policy, presumably. You bought an app that didn't claim to do something that you wanted from it, and now that you've found that it doesn't, you want your money back.
Perhaps you've failed to explain your point properly but I can't see why you expect any sympathy from users here, not that it would make any difference. Only the store staff can issue refunds if they think appropriate. Chalk it up to experience. You could even contact the developer in advance of a purchase if you want to be certain an app does what you want. Then if it really fails to live up to the promise you would at least have a better argument for a refund.

You should be able to copy it from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, or you should be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes Store home page - if that says that it's already downloaded, then that implies that it's already on your computer

ITunes U video content shows in Movies app

Hi,
The iPod touch doesn't seem to properly handle iTunes U content. The most notable and annoying aspect of this is the iTunes U videos which are on my iPod. They show up in the "Movies" app alongside my actual (theatrical or self-produced) movie files, and apparently in alphabetical order - so my movies appear in the middle of a series of lecture videos.
I have probably 50 iTunes U videos and 15 or so normal videos. The iTunes U videos drown out the normal ones when browsing the iPod!
The iTunes U files do show up correctly in the iTunes U section of the Music app. But I don't want them to appear anywhere outside of the iTunes U section. Can I do this?

I had already tried that. iTunes says that it cannot convert the specified file because it is already in the necessary format... or some such thing!
FWIW: I can share my library and watch the "U" videos on other Macs just fine.
