Missing attachments in Mail client, but they are there on MobileMe...

Greetings,
For some time now (for maybe about a month before release of 10.6), and with no changes to preferences of Mail.app, my attachments are not accessible. This concerns my MobileMe account being accessed through the Mail.app client program. I have used this program to access this same account with no trouble since 2006.
Within Mail.app, you can see the paper clip and accurate number of attachments. However, if you open the email, or look in the preview, you can not see or access the actual attachments. If I log onto MobileMe I can see the attachments, open them, download them etc. now for the tricky part...
This only happens when I forward email from my email account on the Army's 'conus.army.mil' exchange server. If Johnny Lunchmeat send me an email with attachments from yahoo or gmail, they will be seen and download to the Mail.app client just fine. Again, I can see, access, download the attachments from the web interface of Mobile me, but on Mail.app, I can only see there are attachments and have no way to access them through the client.
Blessings,
Dan

HI Dan,
First, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that does't help, open Mac Mail. From the Mac Mail Menu Bar, click Mailbox/Rebuild. This can take several minutes depending on how many unread e-mails you have.

changing the ram has nothing to do with the photos missing.  Did you install the ram or someone else?

    Question
My iGoogle homepage is not showing any gadgets but they are there in IE. If I restart with AddOns disabled they are shown. I have disabled all AddOns separately and it has made no difference.Any ideas?

I found that the culprit was Adblockplus. To solve it : ABP>drop down menu>Report issue on this page>click bullet blocking too much and follow steps.

  • Stumped: Cannot see imported images in a project...but they are there!

I recently imported a set of images into a project in Aperture 3. The item count in the project shows as 550, but when I click on it, only 368 images are displayed. Huh?
If I use the "In the Last Week" Smart Album, I see the images there. Aperture won't let me drag them into the project I want them in, so I know they are there.
Why doesn't Aperture show me the latest images in the project?

So, turns out that there was indeed a filter applied. Nothing was typed into the search field in the upper left of the image list, but there were two small icons there, one looked like a pushpin and the other I couldn't identify. No idea how they got there, but once I clicked the "X" to clear the search box, all of the images were displayed. Strange, since I don't remember doing anything to set up a filter.
    Thanks for your help, everyone!

  • Mail for Gmail: They are there, but...

My Mail doesn't retrieve the emails in my gmail account. I have already:
    1. set the account (X) like gmail said in both Mail and Gmail POP account faq
    2. tested w/ other gmail account (Y) with the above setting and it works
    3. repair permissions n restarted
    4. deleted the messageuid thing, com.apple.mail.plist, n so on as suggested by previous posts
but... account X simply is untouchable. Mail failed to see that there are emails there to retrieve. It says that there are no new messages. I don't have any firewall (LittleSnitch etc)
Anybody can offer any solution... other than reinstall Tiger? =)
    Thanks.

Gmail POP access does not work the way it should. The main issue, which may be related to the problem you are experiencing, is that messages downloaded by any e-mail client are marked as read for POP access at the server.
This means that any message already downlodaded by Apple Mail or any other e-mail client from a Gmail account is no longer available to either the same or any other e-mail client, no matter what you do to tell the client that the messages should be downloaded again. You can check this yourself choosing Get Info on the account; Mail will report that there are no messages at the server.
To make the messages available again for POP access, you must go to your Gmail account settings at the server (i.e. in mail.google.com, not in Apple Mail) and re-enable POP downloading for all your messages, which will cause everything still there to be downloaded again.

  • Latest version iMovie: cannot see clips in project OR event browser, but they are there in both libraries! So cannot create/edit/publish ANYTHING.

HI All. I have been having a HECK of a time with iMovie 11!!!  Converted a bunch of video to .mov format, imported into iMovie, and created a project. No problem. Finalized, and published to iTunes, no problem. Saves extra copies. No Problem. SO ... I want to create another project, and follow the instructions RELIGIOUSLY. I can import the video files into the event library, and can drag them into a newly created project, but I CANNOT see the clips in the browser pane for events or library! When I click the playhead in either the event library or the project library (where the clips are edited - supposedly), they play (ie, i hear the audio just fine) ... but NO real-time playback.  ALSO - the video no longer plays for the already completed project when I click the playhead - same deal - not in the project browser, not in the event browser. The playhead runs, but as it moves from thumbnail to thumbnail, each one goes black, and no video plays in real time in the other pane. I closed out of iMovie, did a restart, repaired permissions. No change. I get no error messages, and can find no way to 'reassociate' a project with a set of clips (like one can do in software like Illustrator etc).HELP!!!

I've spent 3 hours in Apple Covent Garden trying to have this fixed. Most of those were spent doing something to content in iPhoto. It didn't work. Then I left them my computer to reinstall software (Snow Leopard and iMovie) which they said they could do better than me and my discs. But I got back a computer with a new user profile and no files. When I used Time Machine to restore my files to my old profile the problem was just as before except now I've lost a week worth of photos, despite the Time Machine file having been saved just hours before I gave my Mac to the muppets in the Apple store.
If it's any clue, the other I get is that iMovie searches for four missing movie files when it tries to load. I've tried solving this by creating new files and changing the names to match the ones that are missing (as I read elsewhere in the community works) but it doesn't work.
So I've wasted hours, a day of Apple having my computer and no one replies to my thread here. What's to be done? Do I give up on iMovie and buy Final Cut pro? And how can I get my week's worth of photos back that have disappeared from TimeMachine, even though everything else in the restoration (e.g. mail and Firefox windows) are completely up to date?

  • Some songs don't show up on iPod, but they are there

I have an 80GB iPod classic. I have all my songs in iTunes, and I have manually synced them to my iPod. When I view my iPod through iTunes, I can see all the songs and play them. However, when I look on my iPod directly, some songs don't show up when I browse by Artist, Song, etc.
The only way to play them on my iPod is to add them to a Playlist, and then they are accessible. However, if I want to listen to Eminem, for instance, I want to just browse to it in the Artist area.
The songs do have all of the appropriate info, and I have tried Restore and still nothing. These songs used to show up on my old, original iPod, so I am for a complete loss. Please help!

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name (as mentioned above) in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.

  • HT201269 I downloaded new music into my ipod touch and now when i go on my ipod touch the old music i had on there is like i cant hear them but they are there still

i downloaded new music on my ipod touch today and now when i go on my ipod touch the old music i had on there i cant listen to them no more because they arent there but still there like i could still see the names of them

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
You can also try deleting all music by:
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Not all files are showing up on my network hd, but they are there

I have a PC and Macbook Pro networked in my house using an Airport Extreme. The HD shows up fine on both the PC and Mac (after a bit of problem with the HD format, it is now FAT32).
I have backup software that automatically backs up a bunch of folders. After it finished backing up my music (about 9500 songs) I opened up the HD and only saw folders through D. I switched on the Macbook and it was the same thing. I tried manually adding the folders from my computers HD to the network HD and it said they already existed.
I just plugged the HD directly into my computer (bypassing the network) and all the files are there.
I am wondering how I can get to see all of the files that are on the HD, it is confusing my backup software so that it runs unnecessarily re backing up things that are already on the HD.
    Any help would be great

The AirPort Extreme router can read and translate files that can be read on both PCs and Macs when connected to a shared disk. This is an important feature as it allows you to avoid using the very limiting FAT32 file format.
Using FAT32 only makes sense when a hard disk or flash drive is alternately directly connected to both PCs and Macs.

  • Windows 8.1 web pages don't display buttons but they are there and clickable

various buttons like home, search, drop downs do not show. if you hover the mouse where they are supposed to be you can click them and they work. I've had this problem since getting windows 8.1 last year. I have played with the settings and followed many suggestions on various sites for simular problems. I also removed internet explorer. I have aol on here and there no problem with its browser. I get no error messages and firefox seems to work fine other wise.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
*Charms, Settings, Change PC Settings, Ease of access - Select High contrast - ON/OFF
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

  • Plugins shown missing in Logic pro x when they are there ....Plz help

I installed Melodyne when I just had Garageband....it worked
when I installed Logic pro 9 ....Melodyne stopped loading, I installed vanguard at this stage
When I installed Logic pro X .....error for both Melodyne and Vanguard was --> plugins not on your computer...now both melodyne and vanguard are missing plugins according to Logic pro x but it can't be as both these softwares work in Garageband or Logic pro 9...plz help .....

    Additional Info:
As there is a common misunderstanding about VST plugins.....
JBridgeM... which is the Mac version of JBridge.... is only for converting Mac 32 bit VST plugins to Mac 64bit VST plugins.. so they can be used in a 64bit Mac DAW that uses VST plugins.. An example would be Live 9 64bit for Mac
It does not convert Windows/PC VST plugins... so you can use them on a Mac running OS X.....
JBridge for Windows... only converts Windows 32bit VST plugins for use in Windows 64bit DAWs.... and so again this will not work on Macs running OS X
...and to answer your question about older projects that used Vanguard and 32 Lives.... Yes, it would work automatically... when you load one of those older projects

  • 3500 songs in iTunes with exlamation points - iTunes can't locate files but they are there!

    Hi,
Since a few weeks, 3500 of my 10000 iTunes songs have exclamation points. When I try to play a song, I get an error message stating that iTunes can't find the song. If I search for it, it's on my Mac. So the files are on my hard drive, except that iTunes can't find them.
As it's weeks of work to manually relink the songs to their location on my hard disk, is there anybody who could help me with this?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Esteban
As you see the exclamation mark represents a missing link to the file and the subsequent unable to play the track.
If you select one of those files and look at the info(CMD I or Get Info) and go to the Summary tab that identifies where iTunes thinks it was stored.  From here you can navigate in finder to that location or do a search for what iTunes states the filename is e.g. (01 Track 01.mp3).
So either the file is deleted, renamed or moved.
    Regards
    Mark

  • IPhoto 11 won't let me buy book due to unplaced photos, but they are there!

I have created many photo books in both iPhoto and Aperture and this has not happened before.  I click on the Buy Book button and it says I have unplaced photos and takes me to a page that clearly has all the photos placed. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

You are missing one or more photos - usually on a page requireing a full page photo that is behind places photos - every page must have either a photo or a colored background - if you have any grey backgrounds thoses are problems - in several years I've never seen that error be incorrect

  • Photos: Shared tab shows "No Shared Photos or Videos" but they are there

After taking photos on my iPhone, I have created many shared photo streams using my iPad and I have always used the iPad to view them.  But for some reason, now they don't appear on the iPad when I go into Photos app and tap on the Shared icon at the bottom.  All it see is "No Shared Photos or Videos" instead of the 15 or so shared streams I have.
All my shared streams appear both on the iPhone and on my two Windows computers with iCloud.
Any thoughts about what could be going on?

If you have the space available on your hard drive and don't aready have a backup copy of the library make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
