Missing Bundled Software?

Hi,
iLife '08 was installed on my new iMac but when I reinstalled OSX I could not locate where iLife was to reinstall it since it was not part of the 'bundled software' install. Am I missing something?
Cheers

Hi DavidPayne;
Have you looked on the original install media for your Mac?

  • ILife "Bundled Software Cannot Be Installed" on Leopard Upgrade Error

I had to do a clean install of Leopard after the installation stopped midway through the first time. It was successful the 2nd time.
Ilife was of course missing so I put back in my Tiger install disk that came with the computer (2.16 GHZ Mac Book Pro 17", 2GB 667m DDR2 SDRAM) clicked on "Install Bundled Software Only" to get ILife and I get the error "Bundled Software Cannot Be Installed on this computer. Make sure your system meets the requirements"
How do I get around this?
    What could be causing it?

I think I did the Erase and install.
Basically I tried to upgrade to Leopard. The upgrade did not work and got stuck in the middle. I was worried about getting everything off my hard drive. I was able to remove the files I wanted but then when I put back in the disk to do the install I had to do the option where it would erase everything on the disk.
So that is why I'm confused as to why it is saying I can't put ILife on leopard.
It seems like everything should be ready to go.
Would it make a difference if I'm using my twin brother's installation disk instead of mine? I never thought of that until now but our disks are all in one spot and I could have grabbed his but I doubt that's the problem.

  • Just got Audigy 2ZS Notebook - Is any of the bundled software worth installi

    Hi
I usually only install the driver when I get a creative card, as the bundled software tends to take over. I use the cards just for Cubase ASIO drivers. I'm just wondering am I missing out on anything. Is any of the software bundled with the card really worth installing? Or am I better off just leaving it on the CD
    thanks,

    Thx anyway, I'm in US
I just search the forum and got the installation CD that I can download for free anyway it's here:

  • Can't install OS X bundled software on external drive

I am building a bootable external hard drive. I installed the operating system (Snow Leopard) successfully using the computer specific installation disc that came with the system. However, when I have attempted to installed the bundled software (i.e. Garageband, iMovie, etc.) I get an installation failed message just describing an unknown reason.
Does the hard drive have to be the main drive for this bundled software package? That would not make sense because you can get the OS on an external drive and one objective for doing it is to have a fully working clean installation available to utilize.
    "The Installation Failed
    An unknown installation error occurred.
The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance,"

The operating system boots from the drive without any problem.
The formatting is GUID & Extended Journaled.
I tried making a disk image and received the same error.
I ended up searching my main system drive for all related files for each program installed and manually duplicating the folder structure then copy/pasting the files in the external drive. I was successful in getting everything to run off the new drive.
It is frustrating that an answer to this problem does not pop up online after a search. It has to be a common problem when people attempt to create a bootable external drive loaded with software.
FWIW, I did not want to do any sort of cloning. I wanted a fresh installation. Fortunately the software from the bundle that is currently installed on my original main drive is healthy as far as I know. If I needed a fresh installation of it I would not have been able to use this approach.

  • Bundled software for 10.4, no install disks

I am currently living abroad in China, and have left my install disks back in the states. My computer had crashed and was serviced under warranty, receiving a new hard drive, when it was returned for me it had not been installed with all the bundled software, such as iphoto.... Is there anyway I can get these programs without having to have a friend search my house for the disks and mail them out to me?

Yes I have considered that, but unfortuneatly they do not speak English and my Chinese is not all that great. My roommate has a powerbook G4 but unfortuneatly because mine is a 12 inch his disks wont work, his computer is a 15 inch which disks work for both the 15 and 17 inch. Perhaps I will be able to find someone out here with a 12 inch

I have an ImageClass MF5770  multifunction machine with NewSoft PageManager Vs 6.03 as bundled software. Lately, this software will not open and displays an error message of  "Failed to create empty document". I have contacted Canon by eMail and today by live discussion on the phone. I have also contacted NewSoft but due to its age, NewSoft will not help. The call to  Canon Live Support today simply told me that there is nothing that can be done. How can a reputable firm sell and deliver a product that suddenly stops working and then tells the customer that nothing can be done to repair it? Has anybody else have this problem and if so, how to repair it?

    I have an Elitepad 900
I just did a system restore and noticed that the flash on my camera will not fire.
I realize that I don't have any of the bundled software like "Cyberlink YouCam" that came with my device anymore.

  • Is Front Row part of the 'Bundled Software'?

With the Leopard update disk I got when purchasing my Mac Mini in February, is there an option to reinstall just the bundled software, without being forced to reinstall the entire OS?. Is Front Row part of that bundled software package?

    Angloswede wrote:

bundled software means ilife ( iphoto, imovie, garage band, iweb and idvd). Is this what you are talking about? ilife is not part of leopard so it wouldn't be on the leopard upgrade DVD. if you want to reinstall it you need either a separate ilife DVd if you bought it or the original Tiger install disks that came with the computer. Insert the tiger disk, open it in finder and double-click on 'install bundled software only". this will reinstall ilife.
Is Front Row part of that bundled software package?
no. Front Row is part of the OS itself. you can reinstall Front Row fromthe leopard install DVD using [Pacifist|http://www.charlessoft.com>.

  • Installer: PackageKit: Missing Bundle Identifier system.log error messages

    Example:
    Installer[2547]: PackageKit: * Missing bundle identifier: /Library/Receipts/NeoOffice-2.2.5-Intel.pkg
I am getting a few of these error messages whenever I run installer. I'm guessing there's an easy fix to this?

Open up /Library/Receipts/, create a new folder, name it OldStuff, put everything except the InstallHistory.plist file inside of it, restart, run the installer, and see if that fixes things. SL has done away with storing anything in that folder except the plist file. All installation stuff is stored in /var/db/receipts/.

  • What is "missing bundle identifier"

Hi. I'm curious about something. If I run either of these commands from the command-line:
    softwareupdate --list
    pkgutil --pkgs
I get several lines referring to packages in /Library/Receipts that say:
    PackageKit: * Missing bundle identifier
So, my questions (I want to understand what's happening):
    What is PackageKit?
What is a "missing bundle identifier", how does the bundle identifier end up missing, and what to do about it?

    http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#DOCUMENTATION/CoreFoundation/Conceptual/ CFBundles/BundleTypes/BundleTypes.html
he bundle identifier string identifies your application to the system. This string must be a uniform
type identifier (UTI) that contains only alphanumeric (A-Z,a-z,0-9), hyphen , and period (.)
characters. The string should also be in reverse-DNS format. For example, if your company’s domain
is Ajax.com and you create an application named Hello, you could assign the string com.Ajax.Hello
as your application’s bundle identifier. The bundle identifier is used in validating the application
    signature.

  • Gray Screen of Spinning Death + "missing bundle identifier" on reinstall

    Hello,
I had Leopard ~10.5.5 installed on my machine. I ran system upgrade and upgraded to 10.5.8 before I installed SL. When I installed it, everything went great, but on reboot I got the dreaded gray spinning wheel.
So I found online, they recommend trying to reinstall again. I boot from CD and begin the installation process, but right when I begin it errors out and shows me the install log. I don't have it copied here (I can if need be), but it is mostly a collection of 8-12 "missing bundle identifier" (flip4mac, etc).
what's my next step? all my data is good, but i can't boot?
    Thanks!

I'm sorry no-one has answered you yet - I'm afraid I don't know the answer to the question: but I wanted to put into your mind that starting up with AppleWorks at this stage isn't a good idea. The program was 'end-of-lifed' years ago, it won't run on Lion, and some of the document types created in it - Databases in particular - cannot be opened at all by any other program whatever. Word Processing documents can be opened in Pages, and Spreadsheets in Numbers (with some reservations in both cases), but building up a collection of AppleWorks documents at this stage is going to lead to problems later on.
It's difficult to know what to recommend for a PowerPC machine that would still be compatible with modern ones. An older version of Microsoft Office, perhaps, if you can find one which will run on PPC; but most of the modern Word Processors are Intel only. This is something you would need to investigate.

Do you have a newer version of Mac OS X on your mini than was on the install disk? That may be why it's unwilling to do that installation.
You may be able to install GarageBand by doing a control-click on the installer you're trying to run, then selecting "Show Package Contents". Within what you see, pick something reasonable. If you keep drilling down you may eventually find the GarageBand installer, which you can then run.
