Missing clock, volume etc in top finder bar amongst other issues in Snowlep

Hello Guys,
I was just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there is a resolution.
a) in my finder bar at the top the clock and everything is invisible, when I try to change any settings for this finder crashes and when they do decide to be visible I cannot do anything with them as the color wheel is present when I scroll over them.
b) My battery is lasting about 20 minutes, I had a new battery, charger and connections under my apple care within the last 12 months and now it is telling me battery needs to be replaced.
c)When my battery is clost to dead the warning that comes up flashes every 10 seconds regardless whether I tell it to or not and is drinving me insane.
any thoughts on any of these?
Thanks for your thoughts guys and gals
Timmy

Go to /username/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ and move the com.apple.windowserver.XXXXXX.plist files to the Desktop, log out and back in, and those items should be displayed. If so, delete the moved plist files.

  • Remove top finder bar from Desktop

How can I remove the finder bar at top of the desktop screen ? I would like to have a clean desktop with nothing on the screen..
    Thanks..

And, if you didn't already know, that running program is the Finder.
Actually, that isn't true. You can quit Finder & the menu bar continues to appear. (Various utilities like TinkerTool allow you to add the "Quit" menu item to Finder, or you can kill it with an Applescript.)
I believe the menu bar is started by the "launchd" process & populated by various processes like WindowServer & Spotlight (mdworker), as well as the frontmost running application, but the point is the menu bar doesn't belong to any single application & is an integral part of the graphic user interface (GUI) of the OS.
It is not a "Finder bar" or part of the Desktop. You cannot remove it if you want to use the GUI, including the Desktop metaphor as a 'place' for HD's, the files & folders of the user Desktop folder, the Dock, or the menu bar to appear.
Various applications allow you to hide the menu bar temporarily, like for showing full screen movies or to play some games, but there is no built-in, system-wide way to do this for all apps.

  • Find Bar (Crtl F) issue. Bar keeps clearing itself before i finish typing what i want.?

When there is a word on the screen that matches what i type (Eg: What), it automatically clears the bar and usually jump straight onto google search bar or the URL bar halfway through a word, so i'd be typing there all of a sudden, rather than staying on the Find Bar until i press enter to search.
I have not done anything except upgrade from 3.6 to 4. It is consistantly like this. with no exception. The best i can do is get a word typed. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Are you using the Default Theme? ''If not, switch to the Default Theme.''
If it isn't a problem with a 3rd party Theme, try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most other Add-ons.''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work

Top Navigation Bar drop down menu's do not work. It is only happening on a couple of my site collections and is affecting on the main page of those collections. There is only one web part on the main page, it is the Picture Library Slideshow web part. When
I remove that web part, the menu's come back and work with no problem. I re-add the web part and the menu's stop working. Not finding any error's in the server logs, there are no visual error's thrown.  Any advice on what might be happening? I've checked
the Java update on our computers and it has the latest version.  Open to any advice at this point.

  • Please Help, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3, Top tool bar disappears-File, Edit, View, ETC missing at full screen. How do I get it back?

When i have the window at full screen, my top portion of the tool bar dissapears. I have checked all settings but unable to get it back. What do I do? Thanks

The menu bar is hidden in fullscreen mode, as is the Dock (I assume that's what you mean by "the bottom toolbar").  That is normal, and that is how it has always worked for as long as fullscreen mode has existed (which isn't very long yet).  If you want those things to remain visible, you have to exit fullscreen mode.  Put your mouse at the top of the screen, so the menu bar appears, and then click the blue rectangle with arrows at the far right side of the menu bar.

The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

how do i add the icon to the bar again?
    thanks

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, enter /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ as the folder's path, and then double-click the item iChat.menu inside. You may need to add this item to the Accounts pane of System Preferences as a login item for your account.

  • Top menu bar is missing after upgrading to yosemite

Top menu bar is missing after upgrading to yosemite

The Library file  has been hidden for some time now. So not surprised you are confused upgrading from Snow leopard.
The easiest way to view this folder is to use the Go menu and press the alt key. This exposes the folder in the list.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to put the find bar (Ctrl+F) at the top of Firefox instead of the bottom

My search function or find function bar or whatever it's called (Ctrl+F) to find words in a document has always been at the top of the page of Firefox, always. But ever since I let them update me to the most recent one, FIrefox 25 or something, it is now at the bottom and I am really saddened by this.
I don't mind that they changed the design, but for heaven sakes all I'm asking is you move it back to the top or tell me how. I'm not looking for added nifty doodads or add-ons or large segments of code to try to fix this, I just want you to move it to the top instead of bottom.

I know it's at the top are you sure when you say "always" at the bottom? Are you talking in terms of 2009? 2008? Previous years? I know it's always been at the top and I'm not one for addons, I have stylish and imagezoom for the past 4 years, and have recently added adblock plus and 'grab and drab' to the mix this year. Of course find bar was still at the top then.
It was at the top and the actual place where you type the word was to the top right, god I wish I'd screencapped it because now it's been 3 weeks since this has happened and I'm doubting myself what it originally looked like...
EDIT: Never mind there was a user styles type formula to put the find bar to the top

I'll try it out for a few days and if it's working fine I'll consider the problem a-ok.
