Missing codec

I want to play a selfmade video with vlc but allways get an error. I know the video was running some time ago but reinstalled arch.
The error message in vlc:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "WVP2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
I've installed all gstreamer packages. Any solutions?

If you're curious, here's the link to the package's page on AUR : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=2697
Hope that helps, if not, sorry.
Oh, the package is in AUR after all. My quick search didn't find it, but I searched for win32codecs and w32codecs. Well, then, just installing that and MPlayer will play your file, echasslau. Any particular reason you don't like MPlayer? Seems rather silly to refuse to install it, since it's the one player that will play your file. Ok, maybe VLC will too, if it has dll loader support, so install the codecs package from AUR and try.

  • Sudden Increase in Missing Codecs

I have been working on a documentary shot on different media and have never once had a missing codec error.  This past week, after assembling a rough cut of the trailer from all the assorted sequences the 'codec could not be found' error message starts cropping up and is rapidly spreading and I can't determine why or how to fix it.  I have not introduced any new sort of footage the sequences hadn't already had - and what gets me is that previously fine sequences, when I go back to tweak the colour in FCP for example, then have codec errors too.
Most of the footage was shot on DV cameras, but it seems to be dogging the clips that are either 720 or 1080p.  I reemphasise these clips have rendered dozens of times before.  I'm drawing a blank on this one.  All suggestions welcome, please, it keeps crashing!

We are having the same issue with dropped calls.  I have an IPhone 4S and my husband has an IPhone 4.  This has become increasingly worse.  We never had these problems in the past.  We have updated our software and towers but nothing helps.  Something is going on with the signals!

  • Missing codec in Media Player to play LabVIEW training video over Web

I get a "missing codec 130" message when I try to run LV training video from NI website. The error link takes me to MS site but codec is not available for download (apparently). WM player is configured for auto download of codecs cant find it. I have re-downloaded WM player twice and also run windows update.
Any ideas what to do next?

    Hi mg,
After googling around, it appears as though "codec 130" is referring to an ACELP Sipro codec.
If you enable codec download in WMP, the codec should be installed automatically when you play the video. However, if it does not, then it's possible that the codec may already be there and there may be an issue with the codec already installed.
http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#wmv is a link about installing/downloading this codec.
I'm not sure if you've tried this yet, but is it possible to uninstall WMP first and then reinstall? Also, I would maybe look into finding ways to uninstall/unregister codecs to see if we can reload the codec.

    1. Have you updated from 13 to the 13.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. If not, please do so.
    2. Do the problems exist if you disable the antivirus and firewall(s)?
    3. Are you running the program as Administrator? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
    4. Have you refreshed the Online Services using Premiere Elements Editor Edit Menu/Preferences/Web Sharing?
    5. Have you updated the Adobe Application Manager?

6.Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    7. Lots more we could go through such as deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole
13.0 Folder in which it exists.
But, I think that you have enough things going on here to warrant an uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) and then reinstall with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

  • Problems mastering to dvd and missing codecs

I am having problems mastering to dvd with the mpeg 2 dvd option and also missing codecs, anyone can help me? new to cs5 so probably something I am doing wrong when going to export then selecting option mpeg2 dvd and select drive for output,it burns and then wont play back even though its burned okay...using tons dvds and wasting them, and getting rather frustrated...no idea how to use encore yet as in menus and stuff as used the old version of elements and 1.5 before upgrading ...so help me please

Assuming that you have the full-paid version, and not the trial, look to see if Transfer Activation is grayed out?
Try Importing a simple MP3 Audio file.
It sounds like you have experienced the "revert to trial" of the full-paid version, so that you now have zero MPEG-2 support.
The steps to correct this are:
    1.) Deactivate (probably grayed out)
    2.) Uninstall
3.) Run Adobe Clean Script CS5 several times, rebooting between each run.
    4.) Install CS5
    5.) Instantly update, before launching
    6.) Activate
    7.) Launch and test.

  • FCP WON4T OPEN THE TIMELINE. QT  PROBLEM , MISSING CODECS

    thx for the reply,
i tried to downgrade QT version because of my MC soft that supports only 7.3. just got FCP 6 that, came with QT 7.5.5.
i trashed many QT files, hoping to prevent any conflicts with 7.3 (like in the old days)
now i can't even open a seq in FCP. project opens fine but with no timeline and only the viewer window.
when i click on a seq i get this message. "can't find the codec. "you may use a compression mode without the good card" (i'm translating from french).
    any idea?
that'll teach me to go back and forth bet avid and fcp. gotta pick one.
    thx again

hi there and thx for the help.
here's what a pop window said when i went to seg/settings "missing the 1:1 10 bit compressor", then the seq setting window appeared and i changed the codec to mpeg-4. the TL and canvas reappeared. i do have to render the video tracks.
here's what the QT movie footage infos says: "uncompressed 10bit 4.2.2 integer (Big Endian) Timecode. in the timeline when i check the properties it doesn't say anything other than it's ntsc ccir 601 26,9 mo/s nothing next to compressor unlike other shots.
thx a lot, at least i got my tl back.
how should i set my seq settings when i have different sources so i don't have to render all the time?
do i have to reinstall fcp6 to get these missing codec back or reinstall the os . can i just do an ARCHIVE AND INSTALL?
    thx

  • Trial Software - Missing codec questions

Currently using PPro 6.5 and tempted to try CS4 and then CS5 when available to test to see if its worth upgrading.
Read on the FAQ - "some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only with the full version of these products"
First question - What are the titles of the missing codecs if that doesn't just mean the standard mp4/H264 codec which just needs QuickTime to be installed ?
Second - Do any of the old codecs need to be upgraded from the ones I use in Pro 6.5 to use CS4/CS5 - if so which ones need upgrading and to which version ?
My Video cam (Panasonic S15) uses a MPG format (not mp4) so I would like to test the new software versions with correct codec to compare outputs to that of PPro 6.5
Thanks for any help or details you can post

All of the missing MPEG CODEC's should be Adobe MainConcept. I think that all of the included (in the full-paid version) CODEC's are from MainConcept.
If one needs to test with MPEG footage (a very common need), then the 30-day, money-back guarantee is the way to go. One buys the full version, installs it (after first uninstalling any trials and running the appropriate Adobe Clean Scripts several times), tests it for < 30 days, and if it is not what they are looking for, then ship it back and request the full refund.
Good luck, and glad that you at least found the MPEG limitation - too many others do not.

  • HDV not available, missing codecs?

    Hello,
Since some weeks I can't select HDV in the main menu of Premiere Pro CC, only DV is available. Is this a bug in Premiere Pro CC, or am I missing codecs?
Windows reconizes the Canon XH-A1, but I can't capture HDV, all my settings on the Canon XH-A1 are correct, but it doesn't work. Maybe a firewire problem driver or mpeg codec problem?
    Thanks!

All these things didn't work. If I try to open a project I made some months ago I get the following message: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.

  • Missing Codec Error?

Hey final cut people! I got a big problem!
I have a project in Final Cut Pro 7.0, and every time I open a project (any project, or just the application itself via the dock), I get an error message saying "Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without a corresponding hardware card." Then, after clicking "OK", I am greeted to a half-open project: the Browser and Viewer are open to the project, but the timeline and canvas aren't open, and are greyed out in the "window" menu. Thus, final cut is inoperable. I can open a clip in the browser and play it in the viewer, but that's about it.
All my footage is shot with a Nikon D5100, 1080p .MOV's.
My computer is a Late 2008 iMac, with 4gb of RAM and 175gb of free space on both my harddrive and external harddrive. It's running Lion 10.7.1
My final cut is version 7.0 and I am not able to update it (long story, I don't wanna get into it).
Quicktime player is acting normal, I am able to open the files in finder and play them in Quicktime, so it seems that any missing codecs aren't affecting it. I looked at other answers on here and they didn't seem to help. I looked in the Quicktime folder in ~/Library to check my codecs, and there are so many, I'm not sure if anything's missing.
This problem is very sudden, I haven't touched my Library folder in months and the last time I opened final cut, a few weeks ago, all was well. I am in dire need of a fix pretty soon, thanks in advance for all your help!!!

    Convert the material to ProRes.
Drag your h.264 file into Compressor's Project window and drop it on the bar that says "drag settings and destinations here"
    Go to the "settings" window.
Drill down to Apple>Formats>Quicktime>Apple ProRes 422 (LT)
Drag it over and drop it on the window where your you put your original file.
    Set a destination.
    Click submit.
This will transcode your h.264 to ProResLT. bring that file into FCP and life will be good. If you have dozens of these files, Compressor will easily handle batch processing.
While Compressor is cranking away on your file, open up the Compressor help file and read up. It is a very powerful utility.
    good luck,
    x

  • Missing codec and moving projects between different computers

    Hi,
Im a real rookie when it comes to premiere... and i have 2 problems.
First off i just want to know the best way to move a project between two computers... Usually when i move the folder and try open it all the links to the different movie files dont work, so i have to go through and select each one manually. There must be a way to get around this...
Second off i have a problem with importing my mac mov (i used iMovie to move the files from the video camera, which is a Sony HDR-HC3) files into premiere on the pc, it claims the codecs are missing. I have installed quicktime on the pc and i can play the movies fine, but they wont import into premiere because of the missing codec. Why?

See the responses to your duplicate post.
    Cheers

  • Missing Codec in PrE 9, but not 2 or 10?

I've browsed the forum about missing codecs and AVIs, but I'm still confused. I have an old Canon S3IS that saves video as .AVI. I have no problem using those files in PrE version 2 & 10, but when I try to open them in PrE 9 I get the "not supported or missing codec" message and they won't import. Question: Why does version 2 & 10 work but not 9? ...And what is the easiest fix - download a codec pack or a video converter (hopefully a free one)?
(Note: Running PrE 2 on WinXP, PrE 9 on Win7x32 Home Premium, and PrE 10 on Win7x64 Ultimate).

Please do not EVER download a codec pack !!!
Some people who have done so have then had to wipe their hard drive and install fresh to fix the problems

  • Missing codec FCP exported Qtime .mov

I'm having a problem viewing some .mov files due to a missing codec.  A contractor delivered me video content from a recent event on an external hard drive. The files he sent me are .mov files that he exported from Final Cut Pro using a DVCPRO HD (720p60), linear PCM, Timecode codec.  I want to be able to view these files through Quicktime on my machine, but I don't use FCP.
I tried installing the Apple prores decoder, as another thread here seemed to indicate this might solve my issue, but when I ran the installer, it said a newer version fo the decoder was already installed on my machine. Is there any straightforward way to download/install the codec I need to view these files without shelling out for FCP?

    No.

  • Missing codecs for Blackmagic HD Extreme?

I just installed a new BM HD Extreme card. I installed the latest driver (6.3)
I am running QT 7.2 and FCP 6.0.1
When I launch FCP it prompts me to select a Sequence Preset.
The drop down window contains many Blackmagic options- but many others are missing. For example: I only have 3 choices of 1080i 59.94 (10bit, 10bit RGB, and 8bit). There are only 2 DVCproHD options. And there is no NTSC DV option, etc.
If I choose CANCEL I do not get a Timeline or Canvas window and they are grayed out the Window drop down menu. If I choose a preset- even one I do not want I get a complete layout.
Once inside FCP- I try Audio/Video Settings Menu.
All options including 1080i 59.94 ProRes, 1080i 59.94 DVCpro, NTSC DV, etc.
are available as Capture presets- but they are not listed under Sequence Preset menu.
If I select Easy Set-up- ALL BM presets are listed.
but when I try to edit to timeline I get a prompt telling to switch settings.
Many of these same setting options are missing from the VIEW Video Playback menu as well.
It's all very confusing. What is going on here?
    I suppose my question is:
How do I get All Blackmagic presets to appear as options in all settings- including sequence preset and Video playback?

time to call black magic support. I suspect (have not had time to check) the codecs are not in the proper location like in library>application support>final cut pro>??
look for the setups you see and where they are. I think there are separate locations for easy setup and for sequence presets. I have the same thing in the B room with an older blackmagic card

  • PREMIERE ELE9 MISSING CODEC FOR JPG FILE

Basically, I want to import still photos into the timeline but when I import it into the project adobe says the file is not supported or the codec is missing. This is weird because I have done this before with no problem. What do I do? Please help. Thanks

There is no CODEC required for JPEG, but they must adhere to certain criteria.
    They must be RGB.
    They cannot be Progressive.
They cannot contain certain Metadata, as John mentions.
If the Color Mode is NOT REG - Open in PS, change the Color Mode to RGB and Save with Baseline Optimized, or better yet, as a PSD.
If the JPEG's came from the Web, they could well be Progressive - Open in PS and Save with Baseline Optimized, or better yet, as a PSD.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
