Missing Contextual Prediction on iPhone 5 keyboard

Somehow the contextual prediction section on my iOS8 keyboard has been minimized.  Anyone know how to get it back?

Claus,
Thanks.  This was a helpful road to go down.  I used your steps towards a resolution.
Here's what I ended up doing to resolve the issue.
1. Remove SwiftKey keyboard from the Settings -> General -> Keyboards
2. Press and hold the globe icon on the Apple Keyboard
3. Slide the "Predictive' switch from on to off.
4. Press and hold the glove icon on the Apple Keyboard
5. Slide the "Predictive" switch from off to on.

  • KEYBOARD LAG: My iPhone's keyboard lags.

Especially when I am texting and entering information in Safari, my (Black 16GB 3G) iPhone's keyboard lags. Sometimes it misses a letter or it takes a couple seconds to do something. And usually all the sudden everything is erased or for example I get something like: apppppppppppppppppppple. It's a pain, but on some things, like entering contacts, it doesn't happen.
What should I do? Do I just have to live with it; is this something that every single iPhone has, or do I need a replacement. (And don't say I need to restore because I've already done that four times for different reasons, and this lag has been going on throughout.)

I'll be calling Apple tomorrow, and let you know what I hear.
As for low memory, that could mean RAM, which might mean you have a lot going on at once... I guess if some Apps run in the background. Most likely it just means you have many songs, videos, apps, etc. You can check how much space you have by clicking settings, general, about and look at what it says next to available. Also, after the iPhone is formatted, there is only 14.6 GB available.

  • I have 2 missed calls on my iPhone but when I try to pick them up, the screen goes back to the first page, any ideas?

I have two missed calls on my iPhone, each time I try to pick them up, my phone returns to the home screen, it will not let me see my recent calls. I have restored my phone, switched it off, taken the sim card out etc but still have the same problem. Has anyone any ideas?

First thing you need to check is if you have do not disturb on to find this out got to settings-do not disturb and tap on it and turn it off this should work

  • The mic icon disappeared on my iPhone 4 keyboard how do I get it back

The mic icon disappeared on my iPhone 4 keyboard how do I get it back?

Should be Siri microphone. Go to Settings>>General>>Siri and turn Siri on.
But in your signature says you have iPhone 4, right? Just iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 have Siri (just talking about iPhones, ok?! I know that iPad and iPods also have this).

I'm Missing Calls Because My iPhone Isn't Ringing but in headphone is working properly

If you haven't tried it yet, I'd eliminate memory issues first.  Close all of the apps with the double tap on the home button method

    then restart the device.

  • How to recover missing notes on an iphone

How can I recover missing note on an iphone. I lost them when I deleted an old buisness email account that is no longer operational.

Have you been backing up the phone? You might be able to recover the note if you restore to a backup that was made while the note was on the phone. It might not work though, if the note was resident on the business account and was being synced to the phone that way.

  • IPhone 4S keyboard dictation does not work - associated with Siri?

I have not been able to get the built-in iPhone 4S keyboard dictation to work. I talk into it, then tap "Done", then the phone "thinks" for a few seconds (the purple dots pulse and I see the network icon on the top bar spinning) and then nothing happens.  The screen I was typing on comes back with nothing added.
Probably not coincidentally, I can't get Siri to work now either - she is "sorry, having trouble connecting to the network."
I've rebooted my phone and even reset the network settings, which doesn't help. I'm surprised the network would be so congested before 9 AM eastern USA time.
So, my question is, does the keyboard dictation tool go through the same network as Siri? Is this why it's not working?
FWIW, I got Dragon Dictation to work fine.
I think it's questionable design to make keyboard dictation work only with a network connection. I can understand this with Siri but not with ordinary keyboard dictation. It's a lot of overhead to go back and forth over the server if you are just dictating text.

My problem is similar with a variation. Siri is working fine. The dictation feature, however, has suddenly stopped working (and I was so excited about it when I started using it - and I haven't used it that much). I don't have text enabled, by the way, so I can't use Frank's suggestion above.
I have a 4-bar 3G connection (I live in Wilmington, NC - the town where my provider has its HQ, so the connection is not the issue). However, when I attempt to use the dictation feature, all I get is a spinning wheel next to the 3G icon and 3 pulsing purple dots, which don't stop until I hit the Home button or some other key. The dictated text never materializes. This makes me quite sad and frustrated. Up until now, I have been unequivocally in love with my IPhone 4S, and I want to be completely in love with it again.
I'd really appreciate a helpful solution.
**An update - Siri can take the dictation that I wanted to use with the microphone icon (she just wrote up a note for me, for example), but I really want to be able to go straight to the application and hit the microphone icon, to use fewer words/keystrokes, etc.

  • My iPhone's keyboard is not working

My iphones english keyboard is not showing the letters on it? It just shows some boxes with interrogation symbols? Whats gong on with it? Please help me, idk what to do. I restarted my phone & it still not working. Help me please

    Hello, BrSlash.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try closing all opening applications and power cycle the device.  Once this is done test to see if the English keyboard corrects itself.
iOS: Force an app to close

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

You may also try removing and adding back the english keyboard.
    Use international keyboards

  • The iPhone Virtual Keyboard Frustrations

I am growing frustrated with my iPhone virtual keyboard. Switching to a non-physical keyboard back in 2007 was a big step for me but I ended adapting to it pretty fast and actually found myself to be comfortable with it very fast. I, however, am starting to reconsider this as there are more and more viable options to the iPhone becoming available (think: Android!). I use 3 different languages and hence 3 different international keyboards on my iPhone on a daily basis and I must say that things are getting messier and messier. Although I have gone through the trouble of resetting my custom dictionaries many times, it seems that my French keyboard cannot spell "après" properly, it keeps auto-correcting it to "Apres" every time I type it. I tried many "tricks" but none solved this problem. I was even able to replicate this issue on other iPhones using a multiple international keyboard setup. In addition, I must say that the process of switching from one language to another is cumbersome to say the least. I'm really getting tired of typing something in English only to realize that I was using the Portuguese keyboard and that my first 5 words have already been auto-corrected to Portuguese.
Apple really needs to solve this problem. What they should do, in my opinion, is allow the iPhone to use multiple languages at the same time and try and figure out which one the user is using after the first or four or five words they have typed.

I find it really easy to switch between languages. All it takes is one or two tabs on the globe icon and you're set. I don't think it's a big issue. Also, you can easily tell what language you are currently on by the keyboard layout and the spelling on the space bar.
I've tried Android phones with physical keyboards and I've found typing to be a hassle on them. iPhone is the easiest mobile phone to type on. Just my personal opinion.

  • The top row of my iPhone 3GS keyboard has stopped working.

The top row of my iPhone 3GS keyboard has stopped working. I've already done a soft reset, hard reset, and restored it to a new device. What else can I do?

When you are using other applications, or just on the home screen, does that area of the screen respond to touch?
Steps to resolve issue (I understand you have done what you have but it's always good to try again):
Clean the iPhone screen with the cleaning cloth that came in the box with the iPhone.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may not be responding (frozen), press and hold the Home button below the screen for a least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
If that doesn't work, turn the iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the iPhone for few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work, reset the iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation and replacement, if necessary, even if your iPhone is out of warranty. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the iPhone Service FAQ.
Tip: If you are going to take your iPhone into a Apple Retail Store for evaluation, follow these steps to help the Mac Genius understand where your touch screen is experiencing unresponsiveness.
Open the basic calculator application to test all but the top row of the screen. Press each button on the calculator and verify activity.
To test the area at the top of the screen, rotate the iPhone to change to the scientific calculator and press all the buttons in the left two rows. (An original iPhone must have iPhone 2.0 software installed to access the scientific calculator feature.)
To test the touchscreen function at the top of the screen of an original iPhone without the iPhone 2.0 software, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. If the slider does slide, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears to turn iPhone on again.

    Siri is wroking fine

I am experiencing exactly the same problem, today, and a reset, of all settings, did nothing to correct it.  Any suggestions would be welcome.  While dictation in all apps is out, Siri is working fine also.

  • My Iphone 5 keyboard is showing squares instead of letters

My Iphone 5 keyboard is suddenly showing squares instead of letters

You may need to restore iOS.
    Backup your iPhone.
Connect it to iTunes on your computer and restore. This will redownload (if necessary) and reinstall iOS.
After it finishes try restoring from your backup. If the problem still exists, try resoring again as a new device (not from a backup) as the problem may have been included in the backup.

  • Iphone 6 keyboard SLOW

My new iPhone 6 keyboard is SLOW ...drops letters. If I type "a" 10 times it might appear 6 times. I've turned of "reachability" and turned of "zoom".  I've restarted and restarted with home key and power button held until Apple logo appears. No effect.

I was hoping to see if more people had this problem if it only me maybe i should take it back to the shop and possibly change my phone. If it is a ios 8 problem changing the phone wouldnt make anything different..
    thank you in advance
